The Czechoslovak War Cross 1938-39 (Československý válečný kříž 1938-39 in Czech) is a military decoration of the former state of Czechoslovakia which was awarded to all military personnel who had served in the armed forces of Czechoslovakia or their allies in the conflict with Germany, Hungary and Poland with distinction and bravery

Description

The medal was first created on October 20, 1938 and issued to to all military personnel who had served in the armed forces of Czechoslovakia or their allies in the conflict with Germany, Hungary and Poland with distinction and bravery, and also, in some cases, to citizens who had provided great service for the Czechoslovak state during the Defence of Czechoslovakia.

The medal has only one class. The badge was handed over only when awarded first time. Next awards were marked by a bronze claps on the sash.

Design

The medal was dye-struck and high in detail, with a bronze finish. On the obverse of the cross was the small state symbol of Czechoslovakia, on the revers symbols of the lands in circles – symbol of the Bohemia in the middle, Slovakia above, Moravia left, Silesia right and Carpatho-Ukraine below. In the spaces around the middle circle the era 1939 is spread. The medal was suspended from a white ribbon with red and blue stripes.
