Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean, and a democratic republic.
- 1862: Cuba wins independence from Spain, which was weakened by the Mexican Civil War. Revolutionaries create a republic.
- 1878: The President of the Republic dies, and civil war breaks out. The USA and Louisiana force an end to the civil war and split the island in two, each administering a half. Foreign corporations profit handsomely from plantation agriculture.
- 1927: After a decade of insurgencies, the USA and Louisiana withdraw from Cuba, and an independent Second Republic is declared.
