The Confederation of the Rhine or Rhineland Confederation was a confederation of German states set up by Napoleon I after the fall of the Holy Roman Empire in the War of the Third Coalition in 1806. It had 15 member states and is the first pan-Geman state of the modern era. The nation was ruled by a council of rulers from each member state who make decisions for the whole confederation.
