|Type||Military and Political Alliance|
|Establishment||March 1st, 1968|
The Communist Nations Treaty Alliance (CNAT) is a military and economic political union that replaced the Warsaw Pact in order to be more stable and worldwide.
The Alien Revolution refers to the political changes to the Communist nations following contact with alien nations. The Soviet Union suffered a coup in 1968 that replaced the government of Brezhnev with an interm military government headed by Marshal Zhukov.
This new military government was nationalistic but also less tyrannical than previous governments. Freedoms such as free speech, free press, and some small capitalistic enterprises were now allowed, but the government retained the right to regulate rights as it saw fit.
In the midst of this government change, CNAT was founded to replace the Warsaw Pact. The pact was designed to be more firm, cooperative, and global. In all of this it succeeded, but Romania backed out, while Yugoslavia and Albania refused to join anyway.
The Prague Spring of the late 1960s did much to set CNAT's tone towards Human rights and the size and power of government in CNAT nations. Communist governments still hold power in these states, but peaceful opposition towards these governments is rising.
CNAT originally comprised of the former Warsaw Pact nations and Mongolia, excluding Romania, who decided to take its own hardline path out of opposition to reform and antagonism towards the Soviet Union.
Following the organization's desire to be more global for Communist nations worldwide, new nations were admitted. North Vietnam was the first and joined CNAT after the Vietnam War ended in a truce. Soon after, South Yemen joined as well. Invitations for North Korea to join was denied by the isolationist Korean government, Yugoslavia, Albania, and Romania still stubbornly refused, and Cuba, despite being eager to join, was denied when it was feared that doing so would incite war with the United States.
In late 1968, an alien race called the Prometheans invaded Earth in order to subjugate and enslave the Human race. With no other option, Human nations bunkered down and prepared to fight what would be the most destructive war in Human history.
The Prometheans attacked with the advantages of surprise and advanced technology. Cities and nations fell within days while millions of humans, combatants and civilians alike, died swiftly.
Communist insurgent groups rallied together to fight the invaders. Most of the Soviet Union's efforts were concentrated in Moscow, where brutal urban warfare was taking place, but groups of Soviet soldiers in other CNAT nations fought as well.
Due to the better coordination of CNAT forces and the nondiscriminatory attacks of the Prometheans, most other Communist nations joined CNAT in order to fight back. Yugoslavia, Albania, and Romania, at first resilient in their refusal to join, now eagerly did so in order to fight for their homelands. Cuba was too far away for effective coordination, and Chinese and North Korean forces, while cooperating with Soviet forces, refused to join CNAT due to mutual animosity with the former and die-hard isolationism with the latter.
Battle of Aden
The first major victory for CNAT, and Humanity as a whole, was in South Yemen. Soviet, Yemeni, and Dravimosian forces managed to evict a small Promethean occupation force from the city of Aden, capital of South Yemen.
The victory stopped the steady decline of moral for Communist forces and Humanity as a whole. It showed Promethean forces can be beaten and that the war could be won.
Battle of Moscow
Promethean forces made Moscow one of their main targets, as it was the capital of one of the Human's two superpowers. The Soviet government was warned and was able to flee, but in the process the Soviet Air Force was almost completely destroyed and the Soviet Army took massive casualties. For the next few days CNAT forces waged a bloody urban conflict against the invaders. Entire sections of the city were destroyed in the process, but no matter what the Prometheans did, the Soviets and their alien allies desperately held on.
By the end of the week, thousands of what appeared to be meteors rained down over the city. But these were actually many Dravimosian and Azaranian drop pods, all of which brought troops, supplies, and vehicles with which to drive the Prometheans out of the city.
Within two weeks, the enemy had been completely forced out and the Soviet government returned triumphantly.
Battle of Belgrade
By the start of the next year, most nations were liberated from Promethean military occupation and only small groups of Promethean soldiers still resisted. The largest group in the second world was the one that held Belgrade, the capital of Yugoslavia.
Marshall Tito was wounded in his escape, but he had managed to rally his forces and wage a guerrilla war against the invaders. Aid could not be sent by most other Communist forces due to more important battles further east, but once Moscow was won and the other capitals were liberated, CNAT-alien forces converged on Belgrade.
Within a week, all Promethean forces had either been eradicated or had surrendered. The victory helped solidify Yugoslavia's position in CNAT and strengthened CNAT's position worldwide.
CNAT was stronger politically because of the war. Almost all Communist nations now were a part of CNAT's military command, even though almost every nation in the world was still devastated.
