The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO; Russian: Организация Договора о Коллективной Безопасности, Organizacija Dogovora o Kollektivnoj BezopasnostiODKB) is an intergovernmental military alliance that was signed on 15 May 1992. In 1992, six post-Soviet states belonging to the Commonwealth of Independent States — Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan—signed the Collective Security Treaty (also referred to as the "Tashkent Pact" or "Tashkent Treaty"). It became the known as the Collective Security Treaty Organization after the nations agreed to renew the treaty in 2002.

Because the Chinese Insurgency raises concern to the neighboring countries, the CSTO is closely monitoring the events happening in China. It has not ruled out military intervention in the side of the PLA or the rebels; furthermore, it has not provided aid to either side.
