Christian cross

Sign of the cross

is a major monotheistic religion, based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, as presented in the New Testament of the Bible. It is divided into many separate churches, including Catholicism, Calvinism, Protestantism and Anglicanism.

The largest of these is the Roman Catholic church, based in the Vatican, which is part of Rome, Italy. The church is currently headed by Pope Innocent XIV.

In the United Socialist Republics of China and Vietnam, and North Korea, Christianity is heavily sanctioned by the state. Christians are usually considered as public enemies, and the Maoist regimes banned Christian texts and organizations. The same applies to other religions, such as Taoism and Buddhism, yet they are somewhat better tolerated, being traditionally present in Asian cultures.
