The Republic of China is the worlds largest nation and the successor to a tradition of Chinese history that go's back millennium. Established after the end of the Qing Empire in 1912 the republic lasted as a united state only until 1926 when the stress of internal divisions and the war with Russia saw the establishment of the Fascist Republic led by Chiang Kai-shek who was defeated by the Japanese during WWII.
Defeat in WWII brought with it a new period of national reflection and self-doubt, While Chiang Kai-shek was still the eternal president and his rule was enforced by the army there was a growing movement in the KMT that thought that the General's rule had brought them to the brink of disaster. Led by Mao Tsetung a group of left wing intelectuals and army officers placed Chiang Kai-shek in to house imprisonment with his containment dressed up as Quarantine. Tsetung ruled in his stead as Prime Minister and established China as a major power once more. The Anglo-Dutch Civil War saw China defeat Japan and earn the loyalty of Korea and China's involvement in the War on Terror and alliance with the Russian Federation has caused many to believe that the Republic is a growing global power that might even challenged the Anglo-Dutch Union.
