Charles Foster Welles (3 March, 1955 - 7 May, 1963) was the second son of United States President Orson Welles and Janet McHenry. Charles was named after his father's first film Citizen Kane 's main character, Charles Foster Kane. He drowned and died in 1963 at the age of eight while on a sailing trip celebrating his father's 48th birthday. He was given a state burial in Washington, D.C. broadcast by the national television networks.
