The Federal Republic of Central America (Span: República Federal de Centroamérica) is a Latin American nation located in southern North America. It is bordered on the north by Mexico and on the south by Colombia. The capital of Central America is San Salvador, and its largest city is Managua. Since 2008, the President of Central America has been Porfirio "Pepe" Lobo Sosa, a highly controversial figure at home and abroad. People from the country of Central America are referred to as Centroamericans, while people from the region (including southern Mexico and Colombia's Panama state) are referred to as Central American.
