California is a state on the West Coast of the United States. It is the most populous U.S. state and the third largest state by area (after Alaska and Texas). California is bordered by Oregon to the north, Nevada to the east, Arizona to the southeast, and the Mexican state of Baja California to the south. It contains the nation's second most populous census statistical area (Greater Los Angeles Area) and the fifth most populous (San Francisco Bay Area), and eight of the nation's 50 most populated cities (Los Angeles,San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Fresno, Sacramento, Long Beach, and Oakland).
World War III
The state of California is the site of various military bases and important economic centers. Hence, California was a target of Soviet TU-95 bombers. Cities bombed included Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose. These bombers would also attack Vandenberg Air Force Base, Beale Air Force Base, Edwards Air Force Base, Camp Pendleton, and the U.S. Navy base in San Diego. U.S. Air Force F-16s, F-15s, and U.S. Marine F-18s would clash with these bombers. The state was also intended for the Soviets to expand their invasion of the United States with Chinese reinforcements but this never happened as the Soviets pushed out of the Pacific Northwest.
In addition, the San Diego-Tijuana border was heavily patrolled by the U.S. Marshals Service, the U.S. Border Patrol, the FBI, California State Police and Highway Patrol, and the Mexican police services due to reports of alleged Soviet spy activity within the border. As a result, there were heavy traffic of vehicles going both directions as each vehicle was subjected to heavy inspection.
The U.S. Navy conducted joint-patrols with the Mexican Navy in preparation for a Soviet submarine that may have sneaked the Pacific Fleet. An exercise was conducted on Santa Catalina island by both American and Mexican forces in an event should the Soviet Union stage an attack on the West Coast.
The California National Guard contributed troops, vehicles, and supplies during the Liberation of Seattle. They would also send aid to Canadian forces fighting the Soviets in British Columbia.
The bombings of the major cities on the West Coast caused millions of dollars in damage. Reconstruction of the damages followed, which was finished by the end of 1990s to the early months of the year 2000. At this time, California's major cities were restored to its former glory.
In September 11, 2001, communist terrorists of the Red Army faction targeted the cities of San Francisco, San Diego, and Los Angeles as revenge for the defeat of communism during World War III. in San Francisco, 10 car bombs exploded in the city, killing 130 people and injuring 700 others. In Los Angeles, gunmen armed with AK-47s stormed from unmarked vans and started shooting civilians in the downtown area, killing 164 people (including 10 LAPD officers), before being killed themselves by the LAPD SWAT. In San Diego, two terrorists in a van killed 10 people by running them over and attacked the US Naval Base, killing 25 military personnel, before being subdued. The state would also be the leading producer of electronics and gadgets, specifically Apple, Inc. based in Cupertino, which overtook Microsoft's lead since the HQ was destroyed in Seattle during the Third World War.
