Bill Clinton (Clinton Who?)

From Alternative History

William Jefferson Blythe Clinton

Former Governor of Arkansas, and two-time unsuccessful nominee for the Democratic Presidential candidacy (1992, 2000). He retired from active politics in 2000 and began a series of successful speaking engagements, heavily promoting his "Third Way" for the Democratic Party, which was widely considered to be "suicidally liberal" after defeats in 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992 and 1996.

He is often credited for the victory of Democratic conservative John Breaux in the 2000 Democratic primaries, where Clinton, who later left that race due to more rumors of adultery, openly said that if the Democrats didn't "start talking faith, freedom, and fiscal responsibility" that they would never win the White House, even after the disasterous Dan Quayle Presidency.

Clinton, very popular both in the Party and on the lecture circuit, has been given many sympathetic treatments in the media and by political pundits, who believe that if not for his sexual "misadventures", he may have become President himself, either in 1992 or 2000.

His wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton ran for US Senator from Illinois in 2004, but was defeated.
