Benedict Arnold was the first president of the United States of America. He established the first form of the Federal Executive government. However, scandals relating to his involvement with the British Crown soon surfaced, forcing him to not run for the third term that he always wanted to run for. This has been taken as a tradition to most presidents to only run for two terms.
