Mussolini was born on August 4, 1961 in Asmara, Italian East Africa to Barack Obama, a Luo from Nyang'oma Kogelo, Kenya, and Anna Maria Villani Scicolone, an Italian from Pozzuoli, Italy. Mussolini's parents met in the Kavirondo governorate of Italian East Africa, and the couple started dating, eventually marrying in late 1960. Anna gave birth in a hospital in Asmara, giving the child his father's name: Barack Obama. However, Obama Sr. was given a special opportunity to attend school at the University of Hawaii in the United States. A fallout ensued, culminating in Obama Sr. divorcing Anna and moving to the United States, leaving their child with her. Anna moved back to Italy, changing the baby's last name to Scicolone. Obama Sr. eventually moved back to Italian East Africa, dying in a car crash in 1982. He never saw his son again.
In late 1961, Anna met Romano Mussolini, whom she married the following year, giving birth to Elisabetta Mussolini. It was then that Barack Scicolone had his name changed to Barack Scicolone-Mussolini. Benito Mussolini himself took a liking to the young mixed-race child, and after the aging Duce passed away in 1963, Anna Mussolini changed his middle name to Benito in his honor. Mussolini attended a catholic school in Rome until 1979, and went on to graduate from the Sapienza University of Rome with a law degree.
Family and personal life
Mussolini met Italian fashion model Carla Bruni at a dinner party on Martyr's Day, 1989. After three years of courtship, Mussolini proposed on their anniversary, marrying on October 3, 1993. Together, the two have four children; two sons, Romano (born June 27, 1995), Benito (born December 7, 1997), and twin girls Anna Maria and Alessandra (born January 14, 2001).
Besides his native Italian, Mussolini speaks fluent English and French.
Mussolini had a smoking habit, and had tried to quit smoking on several occasions. In 2015, his wife, Carla, said that a family friend successfully helped him quit smoking by making use of electronic cigarettes.
