The Balearic Islands, officially the Balearic Confederation (Catalan: Confederació Balear) is a country in southwestern Europe, in the Mediterranean sea. It is an archipelago formed by five major islands and several dozen smaller islands.

History

Independence

The Balearic Islands declared independence on June 1992 amid the growing tensions between the different regions of the Spanish socialist federation.
