The Islamic Defense Coalition, commonly known as the Baghdad Pact, is a defensive organization in the Middle East formed to solidify the military ties between the various Islamist states in the Middle East. It was formed in opposition to various Middle Eastern nationalist-led governments as a way to a way to military counter PanArabism in the region. In addition, it serves to counter influence from any of the major political blocs.
