Staged to determine the members of the 44th Parliament of Australia, the election was won by the incument Australian Labor Party led by Jenny Macklin and deputy leader Bill Shorten against the opposition leader Kevin Andrews of the Liberal Party of Australia and Coalition partner the National Party of Australia, led by Warren Truss.
