A federal election was held on Saturday, 12 June 2010 to determine the members of the 43rd Parliament of Australia. The opposition centre-left Australian Labor Party led by Jenny Macklin and deputy leader Stephen Smith won against the incumbent Liberal/National Coalition led by Prime Minister of Australia Peter Costello following one of the largest electoral swings in modern Australian history.
