The Australian Parliament' is the chief legislative body of Australia. It consists of two chambers; the 150-member House of Commons and the 82-member Senate. Currently, the Socalist Party led by Julia Gillard holds 84 seats in the House of Commons and 40 in the Senate, with the opposition Liberal Unity Party holding 61 seats and 36 seats respectively.
