Araxava was a Persian. Given a name from the Avesta, Araxava converted to Buddhism. Fleeing the onslaught of the Sassanid Empire against Buddhists, he took use of the broken nature of India and rapidly conquered all land from Bengal to Gujarat to establish the Araxavanid Empire. The empire began the magnificent Indo-Persian Culture that saw the transformation of Delhi into one of the world's greatest cities. Araxava is remembered as the one who brought back Buddhism to India, its homeland.
