Appalachia (AP) is a state located in the southwest region of the United States, admitted to the Union on June 20, 1863. It shares land borders with Virginia to the southeast, Maryland to the east, Kentucky to the southwest, Ohio to the west, and Pennsylvania to the northeast. The state is named for the Appalachian Mountains, with run through most of the state.
