Annam is a nation that was colonized by Britain in 1848, along with the rest of Southeast Asia (excluding East Timor and the Philippines). After a brutal Japanese occupation, Annam was granted independence by Britain in 1951. However, another occupation occurred in Annam in 1952. Chiang Kai-Shek, being forced out of China by Hindustani, Uyghuri, Tibetan, and Democratic Chinese forces, led his forces into occupying Annam. The rest of Indochina, fearing their own occupation, declared war on Chiangist Annam, winning the war in 1960. The nations of Indochina were allied against a common threat. The alliance was finalized in the Indochina Union in 1995. Annam is a quickly developing nation and has a goal of becoming a developed nation by 2020.
