The Anglo-Iberian Empire is a large, federally organised Constitutional-Monarchy, consisting primarily of territories in Europe, Asia, North and South America, and Africa. Its territories are classified as Kingdoms, Principalities, or Dominions. Each have some level of internal autonomy and home rule, but all recognise the Anglo-Iberian monarch (currently King Edward VII) as their sovereign head-of-state, and all are represented in the Imperial Parliament, based in Madrid, Kingdom of Castile, which votes on Empire-wide issues, such as defence, foreign policy, and macro-economic matters.

In 1697, Maria Ambrosia of the Spanish Habsburg family marries the widowed King William III of Great Britain and Ireland, amid scandal and fury from both William's parliament and Maria's family. Maria becomes Queen-Consort of Great Britain and Ireland. Just eight months after their marriage, Maria gives birth to a son, who is named George Carlos Orange-Nassau. It is still unknown whether George was conceived out of wedlock, or if he was, as was claimed, born very premature.

Following the death of King Carlos II of Spain, and the ensuing War of Spanish Succession, Maria becomes Queen Maria I of Spain, with William styling himself King-Consort. Upon the death of William in 1730, George inherits the throne of Great Britain and Ireland, as well as becoming the new Stadtholder of the Netherlands. Five years later, with the death of his mother, George also becomes King of Spain, along with its other European territories such as the Spanish Netherlands and Naples and Sicily. Other territories, such as Luxembourg, the German provinces, and Milan, had been lost in the Treaty of Barcelona, which ended the War of Spanish Succession.

The Empire spans a large part of the world, with its main territories in Europe, Africa, and the Americas.
