With the Nazi's out of the way, it is assumed by the League of Anti-Fascist Germans that the Weimar Republic can continue to bumble through, and the economy will sooner or later rebound. However, the weak and divided governments that came to power after the destruction of the Nazi Party in 1933 could not control the situation, and soon revolts were breaking out throughout Germany, and the Government soon collapsed in September 1934, the overstretched army and police forces unable to stop the fighting, and gave up the ghost. Germany ceased to be a functioning state by 1935.
France, the Low Countries, Austria, Poland and Czechoslovakia, with support from Italy, the UK and the USSR, nervous of what an anarchic Germany might mean to their nations, decided to meet together to try to figure out what to do with Germany. However, by the Summer of 1935, bands of marauders soon started to spill over the borders, and the many cities and towns had become isolated city-states barely managing to survive.
The conference needs to act fast. What do they do?
- Bah, let them eat cake!
- We better do something...
- The German state has failed: let's pick up the pieces!
