Previous - Germany Breaks Armistice (CYOAH)
In a stunning move, Manstein is able to utterly destroy the American positions in France, and divides the occupying army, capturing the original beachheads of the American invasion fleet near Bordeaux, and the encirclement of the US Army. Patton is captured, as is over three million men in the two pockets. Without reinforcements or supplies, both halves surrender after three weeks, after Patton killed himself out of shame. It is hailed as the greatest German victory of its history.
In the US, President Kennedy is startled to learn the news of the defeat, and, in an unprecedented move, calls a press conference to announce he is resigning the presidency, effective immediately. As he and his family leave the White House on October 5, 1961, JFK is shot by wounded veteran Lee Harvey Oswald, and dies moments later. Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson takes the oath of office, and announces that he will seek terms with Germany.
The Nazi's, exhausted after only six months of war, and still fighting the USSR in the East, agree to hold a peace conference in Rome to negotiate a peace treaty. Negotiations are long and tedious, but on March 5, 1962, the Peace of Rome is signed. But their is one clause of the treaty that the public didn't learn about. What was it?
