It was one of the last countries to gain independence from the UCAS, as it did on September 8 1992, just months before the UCAA broke up. Politics The Alaskan Union is a democratic country with a slight conservative leaning. Corruption is fairly low as well as high stability. The major political parties of the Alaskan Union is the Alaskan Republican Party (38.7%), Alaskan Democratic Party (26.2%), Alaskan Independence Party (19.6%), Alaskan Libertarian Party (7.8%), and the Alaskan Green Party (2.9%). The current leader is President George Sarton, from the Alaskan Republican Party, since January 7, 2017. The elections are held every five years, next be held in September 15, 2021. International Relations The Alaskan Union is a member in the Pacific Economic and Cultural Zone (PECP), the UN, WHO, IMF, Interpol and is part of the Northern Hemisphere Economic Zone (NHEZ). They are allies with Cascadia, the New California Republic (NCR) and Siberia. Cascadia are key economic allies and if war breaks out with Rockia, Cascadia will be on the Alaskan side. These alliances have kept Alaska alive for a long time. However, relations are extremely bad with the Rockia as they tooked most of Alaska's land. Territorial disputes are the Siberian Aleutian Chain which extends from Adak Island to the Attu Island between Siberia and Alaska. Other territorial disputes is northern Alaska between Alaska and Rockia and the Old Canada Coastline, which the coastline that divides Alaska from Cascadia between Alaska, Cascadia and Rockia. Defense The armed forces are professional and military is only compulsory in times of war (This law has been enacted since May 4, 2002). The armed forces is the Alaskan Navy, Alaskan Home Guard and the Alaskan Air Police with 1,170 active men and 1,810 in reserve. All men combined is 2,980 men. The Alaskan Navy has 2 destroyers, 5 cruisers and 72 patrol boats with 820 active men and 900 in reserve. The Alaskan Home Guard has 8 Tanks, 15 Artillery, 50 armour cars, 4 troop carriers, 10 amphibious vehicles and 1,000 infantry with 270 active men and 924 in reserve.
