Al Gore (Florida Voted Blue)
From Alternative History
Albert Gore, Jr was the 43rd President of the United States, serving from January 20, 2001 until January 20, 2009. His administration is notable for its strong protection of the environment, finally bringing the US into the Kyoto Protocol and beating its requirements by 6%. In 2009 Gore retired and Barack Obama was subsequently elected 44th President.
[edit] First Term
In August of 2001 Gore recieved a memo that Al Quaeda was planning an attack on the US using airplanes, and subsequently grounded all commercial flights until he implemented impenetrable cockpit doors, an act proposed by Ralph Nader back in 1988. The failed hijacking attempt of September 11 greatly boosted his credibility with the American people, and assisted him in passing some of his environmental initiatives.
