Afghan Democratic Republic was a short-lived socialist republic established in the northern provinces of Afghanistan that lasted from 1923 to 1925. It had military and economical aid from the Turkestan SU until 1925.
Its dismissal marked the end of direct intervention in Afghanistan and Iran of the socialist states in their attempts to spread revolution. The Treaty of Recognition (1929) signed between Iran, Federation of Socialist Republics and Turkestan SU marked the end of military interventions and formal diplomatic recognition of the latter two.
A similar state was established in north western Iran (Persian People's Republic).
