During the American Civil War, Confederate Forces narrowly win at the Battle of Gettysburg. While Union Forces ask for support from France and are distracted, Confederate Forces lay siege to Washington D.C., burning the Capitol Building and torching many other buildings. England, France, and Prussia begin negotiating with both nations for a ceasefire after this horrific fifteen-hour siege. A peace treaty is finalized in 1868, ending the Civil War, and allowing the Confederate States of America to continue as an independent state. From then, the Divided Americas have had a very strained relationship with each other.
