In 948(195) a Senator by the name Caricvs Tiberivs, from Greece was recognised as the Senate’s most intelligent and decisive politician. He was given the Caesarship by the Senate and was approved by the Praetorians. Caricus had a policy of bringing back the Senate more permanently to the Empire and gave Sardinia, Corsica, Alpes Poeniae; Cottiae; and Maritimae, 3 remaining Gauls, and Hispania Terraconensis all Senatorial seats over his 40 year rule. Caricvs had good publicity with the people, although the Praetorians sometimes disagreed with his decisions. After the mess of Commodvs, the Senate made it illegal to appoint a direct relative to the Cæsarship. And successors were deemed to be chosen by the Senate.

In 953(200) the first seismograph was made in Greece, based on plans bought from distant Baluchi traders.

956(203) Vesvvivs again erupted causing local panic and destruction.

In 965(212) Caricvs passed the Constitutio Antoniniana, which made all free-born men in the Empire to be Roman citizens. Caricvs died in 988(235).

Empire 988(235)

The capital celebrated its 1000th anniversary in 1000(247). A big monument was built and a party ravaged the whole week.

1001-1017(248-264) Outbreak of what became known as the Millenial Plague. Killing over 31 million people over 16 years, the side effects of manpower shortages for agriculture and the army would be felt forty years after the plague's end. The empire's robust pro-population policies and the laxing of city population limits were making outbreaks of both large and small scale diseases more common. ADAs would begin to focus greater attention on medical research while the government worked on being able to apply quarantines quickly and effectively.

In 1003(250) a member of an Alexandrian Antonivs Dexpiscorari Academia developed toothpaste. It soon became popular and cheap enough that most families that could already afford plumbing could buy it regularly.

Fabivs died at 78 in 1028(275).

Next appointed was Marcvs Postvmvs, from Belgica. He ruled for 18 years and funded a cartographical expedition of the Mare Erythraeum (Red Sea) but did not add any new senatorials or do anything special. He retired at 60 in 1046(293). He was the first emperor to do so but it was apparently because of failing health due to governing stress.
