The 6th century was the "Rise of Empires" century.

Beginning of Empires[]

In 547 BC,the Battle of Pteria began.It was a stalemate for a long time but in 546 BC,the Lydians broke through.In 545 BC, the Persians attempted a comeback at the Battle of Thymbra but were easily defeated.That same year,the Lydians captured Cilcia in the Battle of Cilcia.The Treaty of Sardis ended the war with Persia withdrawing from Anatolia.However,the Persians went on a lightning campaign and conquered Babylon and Egypt.

Lydian Expansion[]

In 540 BC,the Lydians were energized and began expanding.They convinced their allies,Phrygia and Cappadocia to join them.In 538 BC,the Lydian Senate was formed with delegates from Lydia,Phrygia,and Cappadocia.In 536 BC,the Lydian,Phrygian, and Cappadocian Armies were united into the Imperial Lydian Army.By 522 BC,all of Anatolia except Ionia was Lydian.By 520 BC,Ionia was also Lydian.

Persian Centralization[]

In 535 BC,the Persians began replacing multiple satraps with Persian ones.This caused the Persian Conflict.In 528 BC,the Conflict was destroyed.As a result,the Satraps were stripped of much power and the Persian King thus centralized the state.

Lydian Expansion into Greece[]

In 515 BC,the Lydians sent an offer of vassalization to Macedon.Macedon became a vassal in 513 BC.From 510 to 504 BC,Thrace was conquered.In 502 BC,Lydia sent a vassalization offer to Thessaly.
