The 2016 IIHF Men's World Ice Hockey Championships was the 48th edition of the Ice Hockey World Championships hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). 52 teams representing their countries participated in six levels of competition. The competition also served as qualifications for the 2020 competition.

The top division was contested in Prague and Bratislava, Czechoslovakia.

The Division I competition took place in May 2016. Group A games were played in Krynica-Zdrój, Poland, and Group B were played in Vilnius, Lithuania. Division I represented the second and third tiers of the Ice Hockey World Championships.
