The 2013 Venus Cup was the inaugural CFV Venus Cup, the quadrennial Venus championship for men's national football teams organized by CFV. It took place in New Kamchatka from 12 June to 27 June 2013, after the country was awarded the hosting rights in 2011. New Kamchatka was chosen to host the game due to its historical significance to the history of Venus.
Eight teams entered the tournament. The teams were divided into two groups, with the top two of each group progressing to the semi-finals. The matches were played throughout new Kamchatka. The cities of Vladivenera, Gagaringrad, Chaika, and New Havana all hosted games. The final was played in Vladivenra with Cassini beating New Kamchatka 2-0.
Host Selection[]
In March 2009, the CFV was founded in order to better regulate football around Venus. Two months later they announced that they would be hosting a World Cup type event styled Venus Cup. Cassini, New Florida, New Kamchatka, and Nova Britannia formally declared their candidacy, but New Florida soon withdrew due to lack of popularity. After two rounds of intense voting and the elimination of Nova Britannia New Kamchatka narrowly won over Cassini to host the World Cup. The finial reasoning of the CFV Council was with New Kamchatka being the location of the first Venus colony that therefore it should host the first Venus Cup.
Qualification[]
Selection for the Venusian cup is determined by a poll of sports experts around Venus. The poll went into effect one year and two months before the Venusian cup was set to begin. The ranking is completed by 65 experts who each list the top 10 teams excluding the automatic qualifiers (defending champions, and host nation). After one yea and two months before the Venus Cup, the top six ranked teams and the automatic qualifiers qualify for the Venus Cup. For the 2013 Venus Cup there was seven qualifiers because it was the first year (no champion as a automatic qualifier), and the poll listed 11 nations. This process is similar to the College Football Playoff selection process.

Venues[]
4 venues (one new and three renovated) in four were selected for the tournament. The venues covered all the main regions of New Kamchatka and created extremely even distributed. Consequently, the tournament required long-distance travel for teams, although most players were used to it from their professional playing. During the Venus Cup, Brazilian cities were also home to the participating teams at 8 separate base camps, as well as staging official fan fests where supporters could view the games.
