The 2011 AFC Asian Cup was the eighth edition of the AFC Asian Cup, and the first held after Doomsday. It was hosted by Taiwan between 7 to 29 January. The field of 16 teams was divided into four groups of four. Israel won their first championship by beating Oman in a penalty shootout.
