The 2008 FISA World Cup was an international soccer tournament held in Oceania from June 10 to July 11, 2008. Ireland defeated Jamaica 4-3 in the Final to win their third World Cup (1972 and 1992 being the others) in history. The Final was hosted in a record-breaking televised event in Sydney Harbour National Stadium. Jamaica, which was the last team to qualify for the Round of 16 in the tournament, became a dark-horse Cinderella team by defeating tournament favorites Argentina and China in the first two Knockout Stage rounds without a single point scored against them and defeated Peru in the semifinal on penalty kicks. Jamaica - which in its two previous World Cup appearances had never advanced past the group stage - failed to become the fourth consecutive team to win a World Cup for the first time in history with its loss. Peruvian wing Diego Marquez was the top scorer and Jamaican goaltender Willy Good was named the Best Player of the tournament.
