The 2005 IHF World Championship was an international men's ice hockey competition also known as Romania 2005 hosted by Romania. Games were played at venues in six cities - Bucharest, Chisinau, Timisoara, Constanta, Iassy and Cluj.

The tournament featured the dominant play of the Swedish national team, which defeated every opponent by at least two goals a game, including a blowout over defending champion Canada in which they scored six points in the third period after a scoreless game. Sweden defeated Russia 3-1 in the final in Bucharest, winning their third championship since 1997.
