1986 World Cup

The 1986 World Cup was awarded to Argentina and Uruguay in a joint bid. Mainly investments were made in Uruguay specifically in the cities of Durango, Montevideo, and Maldano, and the Argentine city of Atlantea. Many 1978 WC sites were renovated and renewed. This WC brought many tourists to the nations, and Montevideo has firmly established itself as a top tourist destination for Europeans, Asians, and North Americans.
