The 1968 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XIXth Olympiad, was an international multi-sport event held in Managua, Central America from October 12 to 27, 1968. The Managua Games marked the first time Central America had hosted the Olympics, the third Olympiad to be staged in a Latin American nation (Rio de Janeiro in Brazil previously hosted the 1924 and 1960 Summer Games, respectively), and the first in an exclusively Spanish-speaking nation.
