  • Sultanate of Bengal: Sultan Timur Ashraf Shah was proclaimed the Sultan of the Sultanate of Bengal in 1859, and he initiated his rule over the Sultanate soon after. The Bengali population rose about 86.5 million, mostly due to the large influx of Bengali immigrants coming from former Bengali crown vassals, for the economic opportunity was on the rise. The Empire officially began a reform of the economic system looking to bail the economy out of crisis from war debt, and the bullion was geared toward giving the empire a competitive edge in being able to invest millions on a whim in order to drive up investments and production. A new and strict tax system was established, based on Sharia law, a decision lauded by the largely conservative populace. The monarchy also implemented a new currency system which was to be the well-regulated silver-based Bengali Tanki. Meanwhile, the Bengali military was divided into a Naval Force, Land Force and an Imperial Guard with each having their appointed head, answerable to the Sultan. The Bengali navy experimented its first ironclads and began further development of its new larger classes of steam engine ships, churning out first rate flagships for various fleets, and more third rates, and fourth rates with the occasional second rate to augment the smaller patrol fleets, the fifth and sixth rates began to become more standard as light and medium frigates for singular voyages and patrols among other things. For the land force, a standardized army of roughly 300,000 was raised with soldiers armed with modern rifles and with cannons to be used as the ideal seige equipment. The infantry was also equipped with daggers and swords, although the latter were usually ceremonial. The land forces acted to prevent any foreign incursion into Bengal whilst the Imperial Guard existed to thwart any attempt by revolutionaries to abolish the Sultanate. Given the lack of supply of armaments from Europe, many armament companies were established at local as well as national level which served national interests, as they actively engaged in production of firearms. In agriculture was the largest economic focus of Bengal, selling such goods as rice, wheat, maize, potatoes, indigo, opium, wheat, cannabis and other crops to European merchants as well as Indian. However, jute and muslin in particular, served as the most important exports of Bengal given the general need for such in Europe. The flocking of populations to Bengal coastal cities continued, with a mass increase of population in Visakhapatnam, Calcutta, Bhubaneswar, and various other minor cities and townships throughout the south. Of particular importance was the city of Calcutta which was established as the new capital of Bengal, replacing Pandua. Thus, with the constant inflow of manpower towards the coast, the Sultanate expanded upon its shipbuilding and fishery industry, and actively exploited the riches of the Bay of Bengal as it had been established as a virtual Bengali lake, with little to no opposition faced from Burma or Vijaynagar. Indeed, Bengal served as the principle centres of industry in the world. Along the same time, the Bengali Renaissance was in full swing with movements such as the Young Bengal movement established that espoused rationalism and atheism as the common denominators of civil conduct amongst the educated masses. The monarchy generally co-operated with the upholders of the renaissance, and brought forth social reforms in order to disband various backward practices such as belief in 'Priests' possessing powers which was termed shirk. Along the same time, education and scientific research was promoted amongst the masses, with schools and colleges constructed throughout the Sultanate. International-standard universities were also constructed at Kolkata, Pauda, Gaur and Visakhapatnam in order for Bengal to advance ahead of other Indian states and maintain a particular pace as the world entered into the stage of industrialization. However, it was the Bengali literature that reached its Golden Age with hundreds of poets and scholars sprouting throughout the Sultanate. The Sultanate itself promoted Urdu as well as Bengali. However, it was generally the former which entered into its zenith since Urdu was largely used amongst the elites. The positive attitude of the populace towards industrialization aided in promoting it, with a railroad and telephone system established which connected the Sultanate and eased transportation and communication. Along the same time, Bengali influence steadily grew in Jaunpur with extensive co-operation and trade between the two states. The coalition conquered much of Eastern Sind, as well as the city of Multan in Southern Punjab. The Coalition troops rapidly advanced into Confederate territory, seeking to capture Lahore but with both sides suffering from attrition, a temporary ceasefire was secured on 16th November, 1870. The naval forces also lifted the blockade which had been maintained on Punjab, although constant shelling during the conflict had largely rendered the Punjabi port useless. [Mil/Eco Turn]
    • Khedivate of Bahamani: Prince Imran Ashraf Shah married the daughter of Ibrahim Adil Shah, establishing a dynastic union between Bahamani and Bengal. The population of Bahamani stood at 30.2 million. Under their rule, construction for a new capital at Hyderabad was initiated. The Bengali Tanki was also imposed upon Bahamani as the new currency, and the trans-railroad system established in Bengal was extended into Bahamani. The Bahamani military was modernized, standing at roughly 80,000 and a major port and naval base was constructed at Mahmudpur, the latter which would act to maintain Bengali presence in the Arabian Sea. In the economic sector, rice played the role as a major food crop to be exported. However, other important crops such as cotton, sugarcane, mango and tobacco maintained a major presence in Bahamanis exports as well. Along the same time, the Bahamani textile industry reached new heights. Troops from Bahamani continue to aid in the offensive against Punjab!
  • Ruthenia: The Ruthenians continue to expand their military.
  • Korea: Korea continues to build up its military. Meanwhile, more Taoist, Neo-Confucian and Buddhist temples are built. Taoism rises in popularity and gains more followers. Regular (read: not Imperial) Shinto gains a few more followers as well, mainly along the coastline in Southeastern Korea, particularly in Busan, Jejudo, Ulsan, and the coastal cities and coastal towns of Southern Gyeongsang Province. Mahayana Tao-Shintoism also continues to grow, and begins gaining followers from the areas where Shinto is growing, with some Shintoists switching to Mahayana Tao-Shintoism. The military in the colony of Haejagang (해자강) continues to be on high alert and continues to heavily patrol the Korean settlements. Monarch Gyeonseong dies this year and is succeeded by Heonjong who becomes the next monarch. Monarch Heonjong also begins to plan new reforms for Korea and begins[[Click to Continue > by unisales| investing]] heavily in technology, and begins planning major industrialisation to take place soon.
  • Morocco: The Kingdom of Morocco continues to improve its economy, infrastructure and build up its military. Morocco continues to westernize the nation and the population continues to grow by adding 100,000 people every year. The nation expands by 10,000 sq km to keep it stronger and independent, with a few new cities are built, roads and railroads are built between old and new cities. More schools and houses are built and technology improves as well. Industry continues improving to become one of best works in Morocco, mostly new are built in largest populated areas of Morocco. Sunni Islam rises in popularity and gains more followers. Meanwhile, more new trains are produced and four new railway lines are opened in service.
  • Ayutthaya: We improve military and economy. We continue sending scholars to European countries to study their government, economy and military. We send colonizers to OTL Burma. We accept the alliance and trade deal from Borealia (was busy, sorry)
    • I am pretty sure that you cannot send 'colonizers' into Burma. The Kingdom of Burma is a stable, NPC state not a tribal disorganized state into which one could possibly expand by establishing colonies. -Rimp
  • Algonquia: Signs a ceasefire with the Arcadian remnant states, and begins to pull back its troops from the border. Only two weeks after the ceasefire, however, several Mik'maq are brutally killed in a lynching on Cape Breton Island. Algonquia declares the ceasefire violated and invades again. The High Sachem proclaims that this time "there will be no mercy for traitors." Algonquian troops expel all Arcadians from the strategically vital Cape Breton and Prince Edward Islands, fearing that they could be a danger in rear areas. This is easy, due to the low population and small size of the islands involved. Rather than shipping the expelled people to the mainland, they are sent back to Europe. The two islands are placed under the administration of Labrador. The economy continues to improve, and railways and telegraph lines link the nation together, enabling faster mobilization.
    • Labrador: Now containing Algonquia's only remaining significant European population, Labrador continues to be resettled by loyal Algonquians while marginalized Europeans flee. After the government increases financial compensation offered to those leaving, many more chose to do so. The local militia continues being built up. To forestall revolts, a system of fortified blockhouses is constructed across Labrador.
  • BoraliaFlag Union of Borealia: Both the economy and military improve across all the provinces of the Union. The thriving industries now run entirely on petroleum, procured from the oil collected from Alaska and California. While the traditional hearts of each city, particularly New Vienna, continue to reflect the same idyllic Baroque style, newer expansions to these urban centers are packed with factories and other industrial equipment. Cities recently built in southern California and northern Alaska are much more developed, as some parts of the Kiatagmiut province are almost unrecognizable. The economy of the Union stems from the exportation of natural resources. San Francisco and Mamterlliq continue to be the main centers of the gold trade, while oil wells begin to speckle the coastal range of California. More oil wells are built in Upper Alaska, bringing entrepreneurs to that region. Large monopolies on lumber and animal products are also prevalent in Santiago and Pannenstiel. All of these businesses are connected with diesel trains that span the continent. As the various earlier philosophies continue to grow and factionalize, these turn into competing ideas that promote further progression and ingenuity from the younger generation. Scientists continue to study the effects of smaller particles in chemistry and physics, and devise further experiments to reveal their nature. The revolver and repeating rifle becomes standard military equipment, both in the army and cavalry. Research begins to go into copying the German monitors. More settlers continue to pour into the northern territories. We continue to uphold the New Munich Declaration along with Algonquia, Reme, Mexaca, and Arcadia, but declare neutrality in the Arcadian War. An organization for promoting peace in the Pacific is established, whose members currently include Korea, China, and Ayutthaya. We offer an alliance and trade agreement with Marrikuwuyanga (Mod response, please). The new regency council of Flaschland, with its capital at Kristallstadt, is composed mostly of former Sioux chieftains. This year they rule that bison hunting in the plains must be heavily regulated, to prevent the future extinction of the buffalo. Businesses in Kristallstadt are outraged but are unable to appeal the ruling.
  • Tartary: The economy and military of Tartary are developed this year. Farming is the largest industry throughout the nation. The nation continues to develop cities. The population of Tartary continues to become larger. Tartary looks to establish an alliance with Scandinavia. We continue to expand 1000 px northeast. The Emperor position is re-established, and Alexis I becomes the Emperor.
    • Great Perm: We build up our military and economy.
    • Khanate of Azov: We build up our military and economy.
    • Khanate of Bukhara: We build up our military and economy.
    • Khanate of Bajkal: We build up our military and economy.
    • Khanate of Khiva: We build up our military and economy.
    • Kingdom of Parthia: We build up our military and economy.
  • Roman Empire: The Empire is now at a period of peace and prosperity after a long period of war and uncertainty. Roman trade routes stretch across most of the world in the pursuit of wealth and trade goods and Roman military might remains a powerful force in Europe and other parts of the world. The Roman central government does what it can to address all of the issues of the various archonates within the Empire and ensure that their needs are met even as they help instill strength in the central government. Railroads are constructed around the nation to help connect the Empire and its peoples and steamships are used for much the same purpose on water. One of the most important railroads constructed in the Empire is the Trans-Imperial Railway, stretching all the way from Patras in Achaea all the way to Alexandria in Egypt. The Railway is immense and not yet completed, but when it is will provide the people of the Empire a cheaper and safer means of travel to the various regions of the Empire as well as increase commerce and military deployment. Despite this success, the Empire continues to worry about some of its more restive or vulnerable archonates, and makes efforts to help solve that. A fort is constructed in Lutriwita, military garrisons are established in Syria, and a new harbor is constructed in Antillia. Because of the protests, a new political party is formed called the Fascist Party after mobs of protestors walk with fasces in hand. The party soon springs to dominance, obtaining a large portion of the Senate in elections.
    • Lutriwita: The colony was relatively unaffected by the war, and as such life more or less continued on normally, although contact with the Empire was much less often than before. As such, the colony developed a sense of nationalism and independence in very much the same way that the other archonates did during the war. Luckily, the government in Constantinople realizes this and offers them the same representation rights that the archonates are now given in the Imperial Senate. This does much to ease any of the potential political issues at the present time.
    • Italy: Italy begins to recover from the war, and the local military and economy continues to grow and stabilize in the aftermath. The economy is largely built up with help from the central government, as the entire economy is in shambles and the central government is doing its best to help the entire Empire grow and interconnect better through economics. The Roman government begins a major drive to help improve the region and re-inforce its control. Forts are constructed around major cities like Naples, Rome, and Florence and a line of border posts and fortifications are constructed along the border with Lombardy. Railroads are constructed from Bari in the south to Ravenna in the north, connecting the two parts of the country together and easing travel for both civilians and military across the land.
    • Syria: The former capital region proves to be a considerable issue for the Roman occupation forces, as the region is full of Muslims but also a significant quantity of Christians. Roman forces establish themselves in the city of Antioch, which houses the largest Christian community of Syria, and from there they use military and economic power to heal the land and expand Roman control over taxation, military patrols, and infrastructure rebuilding. The population begins to see major changes since the fall of the Damascans. Many Muslims have either fled the area or have converted by this time, althouth there is still a sizable number of Muslims still living in Syria as well as other areas. Syrian Christians are integrated into the local government to help govern the area, and while many are opposed, a few Muslims are as well.
  • France: Military, navy and economy are built up. The colony continues expanding and growing by 100 sq km among both colonies into the Galapago Islands called Illes d'Neptune. The colonies continue growing as expected. The colony of Nouvelle Rouen continues to expand inland throughout the land corridor given by Cahokie by 9800 sq km. Mining continues in the colony of Nouvelle Orleans. Infrastructure is built up as well as navy. The king is outraged, for such freedom given to the Rhenish kingdom so much betrayal! In an act of sheer punishment he declares an all-out war against the rebels and the nobles he dispatches a coalition army of around 400,000 troops (from all around the empire) to quell the uprising. in the now called French Borealia, the displacement of small Spanish settlements begin, offering a free ride for them to return back into Castile, and exchange or sell their possessions in the colonies or swear allegiance to the King. Trinity colony expands by 700 sq km, a local uprising begins in Nouvelle Orleans city (OTL Cartagena de las Indias, Colombia) it soon spreads through the country to Coucut (OTL Cucuta) Sableville (in Falcon Venezuela) and St Joseph d'Bacatte (OTL Bogota) and Basse Nubou (shortened Nouvelle Bourdeaux, OTL Bucaramanga). Demanding the lowering of the taxes in the colony, and the granting of local self ruling, the King considers it, making a promise to do so within the next 30 years, thinking it to be far enough for the promise to be forgotten. The government agrees on giving the Californian state or region self rule recognizing its own right to determine its destiny, however, remaining a territory of the Borealian Domain. The colony of Emeraldia is given free state status with the official name of Etat-livre du Nouvelle Orleans.
  • Kingdom of Rhenanie: Military and economy are built up. Infrastructure is built up as well as navy.
  • Kingdom of Lower Burgundy: Military and economy are built up. Infrastructure is built up as well as navy.
      • Sardinia-Corsica: Military and economy are built up. Infrastructure is built up as well as navy. The Sardinian language has lowered its usage to only 10% of the population of Sardinia (roughly 50,000 people) with the speaking African (43%) and French (38%) or Vandalian (9% African Rhenish German dialect) and with the vast majority being able to speak both African and French (that is more or less 85% of the nation's population). The population is stable at 500,000 people.
      • Andorra: Military and economy are built up. Infrastructure is built up.
      • Africa: Military and economy are built up. Infrastructure is built up as well as navy. The African language has become the de facto leading language surpassing every other (outside of French) being spoken by the 2.3 million people living in the country as either native or second language. Vandalian, however, dominates area of Tripolitania's coast with a population of around 5000 speakers in the region. French is still the main language officially. Trading outposts begin to be made in the border of the country to trade with Tuareg and inland tribes. Sends supplies to the Rhenish War.
      • French Mali: Due to vast piracy campaigns which France and Spain have contributed to has resulted in many pirate coves in the Bissagos Islands, and as a result a larger influx of Frenchmen arrived this year, though they still don't even make up 1% yet. Ports continue to expand appropriately and the region becomes a place worth note on many maps. Roads continue being built to outlying villages and plantations continue being built.
      • Artois: Military and economy are built up. Infrastructure and navy are built up. The nation prepares an army for the conflict in Britannia.
      • Free City of Danzig: The military, economy, infrastructure, and navy are built up, Danzig asks for an alliance with the current Prussian and Polish government.
  • Duchy of Oldenburg: The military is improved, especially fortifications at home and in the colonies. Industrialisation continues. The Landtag, in light of improved transport to and from Neu Norderney, considers allowing the colonies to send elected representatives.
  • In the Grand Union (Pskov), the GDP rises along with average wages. The Inter-Republic Road network is expanded. The Science and technology aspect of Pskov is not overlooked either. As prosperity in the nation increases, the amount of money and new people investing in institutions of higher learning. As such, the various schools that existed in Nizhegorodsk-Na-Narve unite and form the "University of Nizhegorodsk", beginning a rivalry between it and Pskov. The Pskovians want to encourage emigration from Russia, and are somewhat more successful with the Muscovite serfs, who can move around freely with their landlord's consent. This puts many issues with the leadership of Novgorod and Muscovy, who think Pskov is just looking for a fight. The ruble is becoming more and more used and is becoming the unofficial currency of Russia. The idea of currency reform, to reform it to a decimal system is put out, in order to simplify much trade (even though it is already simple enough with multiples of 20). Zlatobrezhie becomes wealthier and wealthier as more people get used to over 100 years of Pskovian governance. A gunsmith introduces the first revolver, and it quickly becomes popular with both the officer class. A new bullet is invented, conical inside, and with the advent of industry, rifles become the norm for the Guard regiments, and will soon enter service for the regular forces. The Conservatives set up another "International Slavic Congress", and invites representatives from all slavic nations to join a celebration of traditions that unite all slavs in Pskov. The Conservative budget is once again toppled by a vote of no confidence, triggering new elections this year. The Conservatives decline is hastened by the Agrarians' conglomerating into a single political party this year, the Grand Union Agrarian Party, and campaigning in force in the rural areas. However, their biggest hit is to the Liberals, as they now have a new charismatic leader, and the conservatives are left with an old man who has done absolutely nothing during his term in office (or at least nothing of note). In the end, the NCP loses 65 of its seats to the United Liberal Party, leading to the first time the Conservatives have not held government since their inception. Needless to say, Timofey Prokazov resigns his post as leader of the National Conservatives immediately after such a blunder. After the election, the results are clear, the Liberals have a plurality, but they do not have a majority, so after a week of talks, the Liberal, Socialist and Agrarian parties form a "safe minority" coalition, the Agrarians agreeing after receiving the position of Minister of Agriculture for their leader. The young liberal Leader, Boris Bryakin is appointed as First Senator, and the position of Second Senator goes to Kaarel Uluolts, the New Socialist leader. The full results are as follows: The Government is formed by a coalition of the United Liberal Party, controlling 356 seats, the Workers' and Farmers' New Socialist Party, controlling 77 seats, and the Grand Union Agrarian Party, Controlling 28 seats. The Official Opposition is represented by the National Conservative Party, controlling 319 seats. The Government is also opposed by the Industrialist Faction, loosely represented by 48 seats, the Lithuanian Nationalist Union, controlling 30 seats, the Latvian National Democratic Coalition, controlling 12 seats, and the Nationalist Faction, loosely represented by five seats. 125 Deputees sit without allegiance.

The map will be updated either tonight or tomorrow to represent changes before 1870. If you haven't already, put the changes on the talk page under map changes if you want them included.

Socialist sentiment, which has been growing in the Nordic Union, leads to a large number of revolutionaries in Britain and in Finland, all wanting a more liberal government. Protests in London, Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki, and Stockholm break out.

  • United German Kingdoms: New Mecklenburg in OTL Australia expands by 750 px. The results of last year's House of Commons election are announced after several recounts: the center-right coalition of the Centrists, Crown Loyalists, and Conservatives remains in power, and increases its majority, taking seats from the struggling Socialists and other left-wing parties. It's believed that the governments strong stance against Mexaca's threats helped them in the polls. The figures of last year's census are also published, showing the population at 16.3 million. In light of Mexaca's renewed militarization, 20,000 troops land in Belize as re-inforcements, bringing the total there to 55,000. Another 15,000 are in Kuba, waiting to assist. Several fleets of ironclads and monitors station themselves outside Mexacan ports, ready to begin a blockade. Mexaca is sent a demand to stand down.

In the subsequent events, the entire Sikh community in Sind was expelled to Afghanistan or killed in lynching. Major massacres perpetrated either by the Coalition troops or local Muslims against the Sikh communities in Multan and Lahore took place, killing as many as 60,000 Sikhs. Major targets of the violence, however, were the Sikh elites and aristocracy who were almost entirely killed in the initial onslaught. However, particular orders were given to prevent a national backlash against the Sikhs who were spread throughout Punjab in small towns and cities, and a small force of 4000 troops was deployed to protect the Sikh Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar. The Sultan announced the separation of Sind from Punjab, with the former being annexed into Udaipur. The Coalition troops elected a popular Sikh separatist as the new Sultan of Punjab. The state of Punjab itself would act as a Bengal Protectorate, with much autonomy but under Bengali sovereignty. A force of 40,000 troops was also deployed in Punjab to maintain order and peace. [Mil/Eco Turn]

Monarch Heonjong continues to plan new reforms for Korea and begins investing heavily in technology. Meanwhile, industrialisation and modernisation begins in Korea (similar to OTL Japan's Meiji Restoration).
  • Netherlands: We expand our economy. We ask for an alliance and trade with the Crown Union of Germany. We expand our Dutch East Indies colony farther South into Borneo. We also propose and alliance and trade with Scandinavia. Emerens Heijman is elected as the Prime Minister, and he focuses on modernization and industrialization. He also focuses on getting rid of property ownership as a restriction for voting.
  • The Caliphate: Drastically develops military and the economy of the nation. We begin to construct the nation to its previous extent and glory. With the agreement with Rome, we begin to ease tensions with our previous enemy. Also, with the ownership of the entire Persian Gulf, we dominate trade in the region. We improve Mecca every year, donating a significant part of our treasury to the Holy City. As our steady population increases, so does our economy. A significant number of ships are built for our fleet. We are generally unable to improve cities other than Mecca due to the war in Azerbaijan and sending aid to the Romans in Italy.
  • Mexaca: Prepares for war against Hamburg and readies its army for an invasion of Belize. We support our allies against Arcadia, and also begin requesting that, once they finish that war, they help us drive out Hamburg, once and for all. Roads are constructed across the empire, and the railway network is working all the time. Factories are built, creating jobs and much is going well for the people of Mexaca.

Meanwhile, more new trains are produced and four new railway lines are opened in service. The Moroccan Navy builds the first and earliest ironclads in military history. Totally, the Navy built five ironclads and launched them.

Businesses in Kristallstadt are outraged but are unable to appeal the ruling.
  • Algonquia: Finally defeats the Arcadian remnant states, annihilating their combined army in an eerie sod battle outside New Oxford and seizing the capital. Most of the remaining forces are besieged in the former Arcadian capital of St Johns, which falls to a combined naval-ground assault in September. Algonquia forces them to sign a new treaty, splitting the remnant states, shrinking their militaries, placing Algonquian garrisons in their capitals, and essentially destroying any possibility of their reuniting and posing a threat. Cape Breton Island and Prince Edward Island are annexed into Labrador, while part of the republics are occupied. Algonquian diplomats request trade deals with the Kongo and Zulu (Mod Response)
    • Labrador continues to expel its European population, which makes up about 20% of the population, as opposed to 10% in most of Algonquia. With compensation increased since the defeated remnant states are now paying, many more choose to leave for Europe, Reme, or other Borealian colonies. The local military continues to grow. A messianic version of Christianity becomes popular among the European population.

  • In the Grand Union (Pskov), the GDP rises along with average wages. The Inter-Republic Road network is expanded. The Science and technology aspect of Pskov is not overlooked either. As prosperity in the nation increases, the amount of money and new people[[Click to Continue > by unisales| investing]] in institutions of higher learning. Many political parties register with the Central Party Registry (part of the Central Elections Bureau)..

1872

In the Italian Civil War a group of Communists and leftists took control of the city of Pisa for a considerable amount of time. While the group was crushed by the Roman military, the notion of Communists gaining control and establishing a government is attractive to those on the far left, and the temporary success of the movement does much to inspire other Communist parties, who soon grow in other countries.

Socialist sentiment in Scandinavia and Britannia continues to cause problems for the royalty. King Charles VIII calls together the Parliament of 1872. The meeting was called to end the instability in the Nordic Union. This meeting took place in Christiansborg Palace. At some point during the meeting, a bomb detonated underneath the palace, destroying it and killing most members of the Danish Folketing, along with members of Swedish, Norwegian and British parliaments. Charles VIII is also killed by the explosion. The blast leads to a raging fire that devastates parts of Copenhagen for days. In the end, the Nordic Union is left utterly devastated. Riots continue as the 15-year-old King Frederick assumes the throne of the Nordic Union.

Ice hockey becomes popular in Northern Europe and Algonquia.

  • United German Kingdoms: New Mecklenburg in OTL Australia expands by 750 px. The United German troops remain on guard in case Mexaca turns back to Belize. The Copenhagen bombing is condemned, and Emperor Mary offers Frederick to send in a couple divisions to help keep order.
  • Sultanate of Bengal: Sultan Timur Ashraf Shah was proclaimed the Sultan of the Sultanate of Bengal in 1859, and he initiated his rule over the Sultanate soon after. The Bengali population rose about 86.5 million, mostly due to the large influx of Bengali immigrants coming from former Bengali crown vassals. For the land force, a standardized army of roughly 300,000 was raised with soldiers armed with modern rifles and with cannons to be used as the ideal siege equipment.
[Mil/Eco Turn]
  • ''Korea: Korea continues to build up its military. Monarch Heonjong continues to plan new reforms for Korea and continues investing heavily in technology and science. Meanwhile, industrialisation and modernisation continues in Korea (similar to OTL Japan's Meiji Restoration).
  • Ruthenia: The Ruthenians continue to expand their military.
  • Morocco: The Kingdom of Morocco continues to improve its economy, infrastructure and build up its military. Morocco continues to westernize the nation and the population continues to grow by adding 100,000 people every year. The nation expands by 1000 px per year to keep it stronger and independent, with a few new cities are built, roads and railroads are built between old and new cities. More schools and houses are built and technology improves as well. Industry continues improving and more factories are built along in cities, creating jobs for people of Morocco. Sunni Islam rises in popularity and gains more followers. Meanwhile, more new trains are produced and four new railway lines are opened in service. More Ironclads are built and added to Moroccan Navy.
  • Mexaca: Begins a massive relief effort in California following the earthquake, and condemns the Copenhagen bombing. In response to the earthquake, all plans for Belize are put on hold, and the rebuilding of Southeastern California begins. Troops are deployed to help restore order, and the economy in the region suffers. Thus, donations are sent by the government to help the people of California, and we begin helping the people there by relocating them to other parts of the empire, setting up places where they can find jobs. This results in ethnic groups in the empire mingling together, and the seeds of a multi-cultural Mexaca have been sown. Economy recovery begins.
  • Ayutthaya: The country improves economy and military. We station 50,000 troops on the border with Burma (too high?)
  • Andea: With the end of the civil war, the Andeans begin the process of rebuilding the afflicted territories. Many of the innovations of the war, such as rifles and ironclads, are adopted into the Andean military. The standing military is limited to 250,000 post war, with an additional 100,000 in reserve. Population stands at 30 million, with an additional 7.5 million in the territories. Industrialization continues, with many areas expanding their industry. Veterans from the war are sold cheap land in Osea, furthering Andean settlement in the region. Apeac is annexed, with Andean's making up 73% of the population in the territory. Matacos, for their insurrection during the war, are forcibly relocated to the Amazons.
    • Andean Overseas Territories: Military bases are restocked and remanned.
    • Osean Confederation: Roads, railroads and factories are all rapidly built up. Andean Settlers are pushed into the territory to fill the need for workers. This leads to several new communities of Andean and Mestizos. The republics, in decreasing order of population are: North Osea (750,000), South Osea (680,000), Uruguay (550,000), Cordoba (450,000), Buenos Aires (400,000), San Salvacion (300,000), East Osea (270,000), Bolivia (200,000), Granada (280,000), Santiago (140,000), Castile (70,000), and Paraguay (45,000). For the first time, the Republics of Santiago and Paraguay have Andean majorities, standing at 45% (vs 38% Spanish and 17% Mestizo) and 53% (vs 34% Spanish and 13% Mestizo) respectively.
    • Vorlayacoran Territories: Following a similar model to the aftermath of the Osean Civil war, Andean leaders co-operate with local leaders in order to rebuild the nation from the war. However, unlike in Osea, the area formerly known as Vorlayacor is annexed into Andea as The

The Grand Senate declares the government legitimate, however, it also recognizes that certain reforms to make the NU more democratic should happen. Supreme Prince Ilya Semashko offers to act as a mediator between government and reformist sides, however, states that if riots are not quelled, then The Grand Union Army has the right to intervene, if King Fredrik accepts their aid, of course. The Grand Senate quickly grants permission in a nearly unanimous vote, not wanting chaos just across the Sea with on of their largest trading partners. The Grand Senate also, in the case of civil war, secretly votes to support the government "against the forces of extremism". The Government, in a strange turn of events, votes on a proposition to give colonies representation in the Council of Nations, in this proposition, the Colonial states would be treated as a "Nation" and would therefore be allowed 20 collective representatives in the Council of Nations, the upper house of the Grand Senate. The States already have representation in the General Assembly. In this bill is also a redistricting of seats, giving slightly more to colonial possessions in efforst to ensure more representation. This is opposed by almost all nationalists and the Torries, worried about their own represenation, but ultimately passes the General Assembly in a 523-462 vote, with 15 abstentions, and shortly passes the Council of Nations 56-44. IT is passed into law soon by Ilya Semashko, and as such the Council of Nations now has 120 seats.
  • Duchy of Oldenburg: The military is built up, and the navy continues to modernise. In political news, the Landtag and High Council approve plans for Neu Norderney and Neu Juist to elect one fully-voting representative to the Landtag. The government feels that the weekly Neu Norderney steam packet largely negates the issues of trans-Atlantic communications which had previously made representatives with full voting rights unworkable.

The Empire continues to recover from the Italian Civil War, and while the war ended in a Roman victory, the war upset most of the previous assumptions that the Imperial government had. As a result, legislation and reform are passed in order to help heal the country and prevent issues that spawned the war in the first place. The bombing in Scandinavia is condemned, aid and support is offered to the Scandinavian monarchy, and security in Constantinople and other cities are stepped up in case others try such attempts in the Empire.

However, the Curia supports the Republican Rebels as the true government of Britannia. The earthquake in Middle California wreaks devastation, killing 32 people and injuring hundreds. The transcontinental railroad is once again made inoperable for several months. The regency council of Middle California begins investing millions of reichsthalers into seismic research and possible means of protecting against it.

  • Algonquia: Continues to industrialize and improve its military. An ironclad, the Mistahi, begins construction this year, while repeating rifles and revolvers become common in the military, although it is illegal for Arcadians to possess them. Ice hockey suddenly explodes in popularity, particularly in industrial areas, where different factories form teams and play against each other. Some spall leagues are formed. Socialism grows in popularity, with the formation of a Socialist Party which is able to elect some thirty sachems. No one finds this especially shocking, since the ideas it espouses are similar to traditional tribal economics. Algonquia asks for trade with the Kongo and Zulu.
    • Labrador continues to expel its European population, which makes up about 20% of the population, as opposed to 10% in most of Algonquia. 1873

Ingrid von Aachen publishes a book named Men of the Coal; Children of the Dust which investigates the horrid conditions of coal miners and child workers. The book becomes a best seller and opens up many people to the horrors of industrial Bavaria.

Invigorated by the book’s success, several unions are founded and strike in cities and on the railway. General protests in Munich, Landshut, Stuttgart, and Regensburg disrupt the railway industry, causing an economic downturn. A deficit of coal causes several rail companies to shut down. Combined with a Diet failure to contain the railway collapse, Bavaria enters an economic panic in 1873, and soon after, a depression.

The situation in the Nordic Union grows dire. Protests in Finland and Sweden rise, wishing to abolish the crown. Protests in Britain grow, calling for independence. King Frederick of the Nordic Union attempts to handle it, but is ultimately unsuccessful.

A French chemist, Charles DeCamille, publishes an equation on thermodynamics and gas laws. Called DeCamille Equation (OTL Van der Wall’s Equation), the equation revolves around particle attraction.

Algonquia’s mistreatment of the native European population in Labrador leads to revolts along the St. Lawrence River and other formerly Arcadian areas.

[Mil/Eco Turn]
  • ''Ruthenia: The Ruthenians continue to expand their military.
Monarch Heonjong continues to plan new reforms for Korea and continues investing heavily in technology and science. Meanwhile, industrialisation and modernisation continues in Korea (similar to OTL Japan's Meiji Restoration).
  • Ayutthaya: The kingdom starts to invest in infrastructure as homes, houses, and railways are built. Military is also improved. We declare war on, and invade Burma with 50,000 men. 25,000 more soldiers are sent to the border as re-inforcements in case things go bleak. (seeing as I have nothing better to do ...)
More schools and houses are built. Industry continues improving and more factories are built along in cities, creating jobs for people of Morocco. Sunni Islam rises in popularity and gains more followers. Meanwhile, more new trains are produced and four new railway lines are opened in service. More Ironclads are built and added to Moroccan Navy. In political news, the previous king Mohammed IV dies at age 71 and Hassan I succeeds to throne as the new king of Morocco. But the royal name has now renamed, in Berber languages it's commonly known as Aslal I. The new king Aslal I continues to plan new reforms for Morocco and continues investing heavily in technology and science.
Borealian ironclads continue to be constructed, bringing the navy to par with Germany. More settlers continue to pour into the northern territories. We continue to uphold the New Munich Declaration along with Algonquia, Reme, Mexaca, and Arcadia, but declare neutrality in the Arcadian War. An organization for promoting peace in the Pacific is established, whose members currently include Korea, China and Ayutthaya. We offer an alliance and trade agreement with Marrikuwuyanga (Mod response, please). In the wake of the Copenhagen bombing, the Curia supports the Republican Rebels as the true government of Britannia. The regency council of Middle California begins investing millions of reichsthalers into seismic research and possible means of protecting against it.
  • Andea: With the end of the civil war, the Andeans begin the process of rebuilding the afflicted territories. Many of the inovations of the war, such as rifles and ironclads, are adopted into the Andean military. The standing military is limited to 250,000 post war, with an additonal 100,000 in reserve. Population stands at 30 million, with an additonal 7.5 million in the territories.
The republics, in decreasing order of population are: North Osea (750,000) South Osea (680,000) Uruguay (550,000) Cordoba (450,000) Buenos Aires (400,000), San Salvacion (300,000), East Osea (270,000), Bolivia (200,000), Granada (280,000), Santiago (140,000), Castile (70,000), and Paraguay (45,000).
However, unlike in Osea, the area formerly known as Vorlayacor is annexed into Andea as The
  • In the Grand Union (Pskov), the GDP rises along with average wages. The Communist Party of the Grand Union grows somewhat. More parties are registered with the Central Party Registry. In any case, seeing the disorder in the Nordic Union, the Grand Senate votes to send financial aid to the Nordic Union. In an effort to gain the workers' vote, and recent protests and inquiries into the situation of child labourers, the Grand Senate places restrictions on child labour and the work day, The new laws put in place require children under the age of 12 to stay at school, and reduces the amount of hours people aged 12-16 to eight hours, and a maximum of 12 hours per day for employed persons above that age. This is controversial, and is vehemently opposed by the Industrialist Faction. The Conservatives are split, but ultimately many vote against it. Even with the Liberal Party's laissez faire positions, they justify this by pointing out that to do otherwise would be "akin to endorsing a new type of slavery". The Supreme Prince once again asks if the Nordic Union is in need of aid. The Grand Senate authorizes the use of military force if necessary in Scandinavia. The Grand Union patiently waits for a response from King Fredrik.
  • Duchy of Oldenburg: Taking their lead from their Bavarian neighbours, many workers in Oldenburg form trade unions in order to affirm their rights. Prominent church leaders support the move as a means of helping alleviate poverty, however, their enthusiasm is not shared by the industrialists and nobility. The economic troubles of Bavaria also have an effect on Oldenburg. The first inter-city ice-hockey game takes place this winter, with the Duke's own Oldenburger Team facing the Prince-Bishop's Osnabrucker Ice Hockey Team. The Duke's team wins, taking home a silver trophy. In other news, the three colonial MPs (one each for Neu Norderney, Neu Juist and the Greenland & Northern Atlantic Territories) are elected and sent to parliament in Oldenburg. They form their own bloc, the Colonials.
  • Algonquia: Mobilizes fully to crush the Arcadian revolt, bringing 70,000 troops to bear on the revolt. National anger erupts as the populace hears of outrages perpetrated against natives by the rebels, including lynchings and summary executions. Garrisons in the revolting area are resupplied by ship or by flying columns, excluding the Arcadians from most major urban areas and depriving them of resources, weapons and funds. Meanwhile, a total blockade is imposed on the revolting areas, which depend on food imports, while the Algonquian cavalry launches a series of raids designed to ravage the countryside in these areas. As a result, the rebellious areas are soon starving, preventing them from keeping significant forces in the field. Simultaneously, an amnesty is promised for anyone who is willing to abandon the revolt, along with a bounty and relocation to Europe. Many take this option. When Algonquian troops finally move against the revolt, they do so with massive naval and artillery support, as well as a crushing superiority in numbers, weapons and cavalry. Arcadians in non-rebel areas are expelled to prevent them serving as a fifth column, and riots against Arcadians occur in many areas.
    • Labrador: Mobilizes its militia against the rebels also.
  • Nordic Union: After the unfortunate events of this year, the Edickt Af Politiet (Act of Police) is enacted. Martial law is declared in Scandinavia while the military is stationed in various cities in order to prevent further acts of terrorism. The Act of Police drafts a percentage of the military force into a police force responsible for preventing revolts and riots. Their first order is to seek out the ringleaders of the riots in Scandinavia. The Pskovian and German offers of assistance are appreciated, but King Frederick believes that he can 'handle the situation on his own.' In the meantime, revolutionaries in Britannia set fire to the docks in London. Several ships are damaged.

1874

As public trust of the Rudolphines evaporates over-night, Marian Liberals achieve their first majority in the Bavarian Diet. The Liberals, helped by a moderate King, nationalize coal fields and place the railways under government control.

On January of this year, a number of demonstrators pour oil in the Kattegat and set fire to it. This raging inferno towers into the winter sky, mixing snow and wind with embers and smoke. King Frederick, fearful over what the rebels are willing to do next, considers abdicating. His advisors insist that he remain on the throne.

  • United German Kingdoms: New Mecklenburg in OTL Australia expands by 750 px. In the UGK overseas territories, the population had begun to grow tired of the military presence. But that sentiment drops immediately when the citizens there hear of Borealias view. Anti-COB sentiment begins running high in light of the Commonwealth viewing them as "oppressed colonists" in need of "liberating". Since the 1800 Borealian territory reform, the then-colonies were turned into full provinces, and the term "colonist" has become an offensive term to the citizens living there. In light of this, military recruitment among the populations of Belize and Kuba begins rising. Another fleet, this one mostly made up of one- and two-turret monitor warships, arrives off the Mexacan coast. Another stand-down demand is sent to Mexaca.
• Mexaca: Begins planning for the war against Hamburg to liberate Belize. The strength of Mexaca continues to increase and grow stronger, with the military numbering over 100,000 men, with modern weapons and training. We begin examining modern warfare and how best it is fought. More and more people begin finding better housing, and are well paid for, enjoying some of the highest standards of living. The economy is booming, and the navy sees some new ships built.
    • Reme; Suggests that the nation of Mexaca come to its senses, or Reme will be forced to reply wit potential military force.
  • Ayutthaya: We continue the war with Burma, and send in an additional 25,000 men to form a 75,000 invasion force against the country. We improve economy by consrtucting farms and trading. Military is improved as well. We would like to purchase arms from Borealia and in return, we offer to open our ports to them.
  • Ruthenia: The Ruthenians continue to expand their military.
  • Morocco: The Kingdom of Morocco continues to improve its economy, infrastructure and build up its military. Public support of Hamburg greatly sours, as many people begin to see Germany as an imperialist power with their tight control of Belize and Kuba. Some members of the Curia argue in favor of not only liberating Belize, but all of Germany's colonies. In the wake of the Copenhagen bombing, the Curia supports the Republican Rebels as the true government of Britannia.
  • Reme: Reme begins to build up its military and economy. After a long, heated discussion of how Reme would be governed, the tribal representatives (as well as notable Byzantine-Borealians) decide to create a republic, with a basic constitution that would be given basic rights to citizens of Reme. After these discussions, a rich Byzantine-Borealian named Stephanos Shawnee, and becomes the first President of Reme. Shawnee starts to upgrade trade and military services. However seeing Reme, a new nation, vulnerable to foreign attack, starts to encourage militarization of the west, and opens up to military alliances with other nations. Meanwhile, trade is improved on, with industrialization, mainly former Byzantine areas slowly being introduced to populous areas. Lumber, cash crops, and other goods become a major export of Reme, and starts getting Reme a jump-start into the European economy. Shawnee also commands the creation of a couple new navy ships, to help modernize the outdated Remian navy. Reme continues its current expansion into the Michigan peninsula, expanding another 150 pixels into it. Meanwhile, the idea of building coal mines come into mind, especially in the OTL West Virginian area. Coal mining plants are started to be worked on. Reme also starts very slowly changing its focus to industrial things, with a nation wide railroad being considered to be built. Reme incorporates the French territory of Rouenelle as a province of Reme, with Cahokie being designated as a territory of Reme. With this, French is now declared an official language of Reme, with Greek and French made mandatory for children in Reman schools. Construction in the railroad continues, with the two native states being declared war upon to fix the track and to oust from that area. Jayson Chistakos, a politican, gains popularity, and gains influence thorugout the Republic. He eventually wins the election called for by the population and becomes the first Emperor of Reme. Jayson's first action is to immediately start industrializing river areas, and to mass produce textiles to cheaper the price of Reman cotton products. Jayson also demands that the Mexica border be fortified, since the nation poses a threat to the safety of Reme. Jayson also demands that Reme starts militarializing these areas, as well as the border with Arcadia. Reme disapproves of the showed militarization by Mexica, and demands for the New Munich pact to come together and discuss the problem. Meanwhile, a Socialist-based party starts to gain seats in parliament, with plans to make Reme a more self-sufficient state.

A rapid-fire firearm is invented with a rotating multiple barrels, crank-powred (OTL Gatling gun) by Genrik Uzvards, a Latvian. It is subsequently named the Uzvard Gun, and several are commissioned by the government. Meanwhile, an attempt at making an electrically-powered light source are now common amongst the science community, and a reward of 10,000 zolotniks is offered to the first to give the Pskov Academy of Sciences a working, feasable prototype. The Conservatives set up another "International Slavic Congress", and invites representatives from all slavic nations to join a celebration of traditions that unite all slavs in Pskov. The Communist Party of the Grand Union grows somewhat. However, this does not mean that there should not be regulations as to the conditions of workers. More laws are put into place, this time mandating things. The Supreme Prince once again asks if the Nordic Union is in need of aid. The Grand Senate authorizes the use of military force if necessary in Scandinavia. In response to setting fire to the kattegat, the Supreme Prince Ilya Semashko (who was reaffirmed last year because of the crisis, not wanting to resign) decides to mobilize the military and sends a force of 5000 men on ships to weign anchor near the Norse capital. No longer confident in the Nordic Union's ability to deal with this on its own, and not wanting more chaos, Ilya lands and decides to meet with this King Fredrik in Person, offering once again to aid in quelling unrest. He puts another 20 regiments on reserve, ready to embrak on ships and sail to any needed areas in the Norse Union at any notice. Another Election is held this year after the liberals' first mandate expires. After a fierce campaign, it appears that the Liberals convictions to gain the support of workers has paid off, and they gain 20 seats compared to last election, all stolen from the conservatives (mostly). The popularity of the United Liberal Party grows, however, some voters are alienated with government control of business, opting to vote for members of the Industrialist Faction. However, this is not a big dent. In any case, the Communist Party of the Grand Union wins its first seats in this election, winning two seats, one in Porbezhie (a district in Nizhegorodsk-Na-Narve) and North Klapedia, those constituencies were former New Socialist, however, the Communist Campaign in many Socialist Ridings was that they were too soft and had betrayed socialist ideals by siding with the Liberals (despite pushing industrial regulations through). The full election results are as follows: The Government is formed by a coalition of the United liberal Party, controling 375 seats, the Workers' and Farmers' New Socialist Party, controlling 74 seats, and the Grand Union Agrarian Party, controlling 32 seats. The Official Opposition is represented by the National Conservative Party, controlling 304 seats. The government is also opposed by the Communist Party of the Grand Union, controlling two seats, the Nationalist faction, loosely represented by five seats, the Lithuanian National Democratic Coalition, controlling 11 seats, the Lithuanian Nationalist Union, controlling 29 seats, and the Industrialist Faction, loosely represented by 49 seats. 119 members sit without affiliation. • Duchy of Oldenburg: Taking their lead from Bavaria's Marian Liberals, the Catholic Bloc advocates for more government expenditure on helping the poor and unemployed, and/or giving the Catholic Church funds to do the same. Their sometime-allies the Socialist Party support the first version of the proposal, and it is passed by the Landtag. The Prince-Bishop's support allows its passage through the High Council, and a Duke Dietrich III feels compelled to support it. Poor houses and government construction and manufacturing projects are started to give the urban poor places to live and work.
  • In Aragon, the nation continues to prosper as a center of the arts and learning. The construction of new buildings, roads and other infrastructure continues. Aragonese merchants and emissaries continue to sail around the world to expand the reach of Aragon in terms of wealth and diplomatic connections. Aragon also becomes a place where artists and intellectual minds meet and do things. It is cool. Due to the regrowth of the economy, new jobs created in the three major cities lead to more people moving to the cities. Stronger cements are produced, whatever that means, leading to the construction of much taller buildings, especially in the major cities such as Zaragoza and Valencia. Steamboats and railways and all sorts of cool modern stuff. Aragon lays claim to Antarctica and proposes a Trans-European rail link from Lisbon to Constantinople and Moscow. The construction of ships and weaponry continues. Aragon takes all the people from Edgistan. Boats and guns. Aragon commissions a few ironclads based on the German designs. Aragon comes back from the war in Italy with the realization that it needs to make better use of artillery in war. #NoMoreWikiaChanges

1875

Marian Liberals begin funding public works, poorhouses, and municipal and agricultural expansion. In order to finance these ordeals, they raise taxes for both the poor, middle, and upper classes. Their efforts to save the economy fail, and the nation slips deeper into depression. A new faction, named the New Marian Liberals, rises in Munich. They are headed by former coal miner Gilbert Schuster and similarly poor Karolina Baumbach. Both advocate for government control of industry and agriculture, while remaining socially liberal. They write extensively on those aforementioned topics. Baumbach, herself, wrote on women’s issues, concerning suffrage, employment opportunity, marriage reform and general liberation.

As the situation in the Nordic Union continues to spiral out of control, the people in Denmark and Finland completely revolt. King Frederick, overtaken by grief, turns a gun on his family to ‘spare them the horrors of the revolution’ before sticking the barrel in his own mouth. After hearing of this, Britannia completely secedes from the Nordic Union. However, the revolution in Britain is far from over. Iceland also leaves the Nordic Union. The Faroes also leave with Iceland. Iceland forms the Icelandic Commonwealths. The prominent member of the Republican revolutionaries in Finland (Called the Valkosians or ‘White Ones’) is revealed to be a woman. She fights not only for republicanism, but for women’s rights as well. By the end of the year, the Valkosians have closed in on Stockholm. The final assault has yet to take place.

  • United German Kingdoms: New Mecklenburg in OTL Australia expands by 750 px. In light of the suicide of King Frederick, Emperor Mary sends a message to Pskov, inviting the Supreme Prince to discuss a possible joint intervention, though Mary and her advisors really do not wish to get involved in another conflict in Scandinavia. In Belize, a soldier known as Heinrich Keudez invents a multi-barrel, crank-powered firearm, capable of rapid firing rounds downrange. Mounted on a cannon chassis, several prototypes of the "Keudez Gun" are deployed to the fortifications on the Mexacan border. The UGK praises the Empire of Reme for speaking against Mexaca's militarization, and subsequent calls for a conference.
    • The Supreme Prince accepts this invitation, and wants discussions of intervention to occur. (oh, and I invented the gatling gun last year...)
  • Ruthenia: The Ruthenians continue to expand their military.
  • China: The military and economy continue being expanded. The Great Wall of China is re-inforced with cannons and soldiers. Peasants are given land in the southern provinces to grow rice. The emperor becomes more of a figurehead rather than the leader. The population stands at 300 million people.
The Railway is immense and provides the people of the Empire a cheaper and safer means of travel to the various regions of the Empire as well as increase commerce and military deployment as well as integrate the Empire and its various ethnic groups in a way never before possible. Despite this success, the Empire continues to worry about some of its more restive or vulnerable archonates, and makes efforts to help solve that. A fort is constructed in Lutriwita, military garrisons are established in Syria, and a new harbor is constructed in Antillia. In Egypt, after many years of toil and economic investment by the government, the Suez Canal finally opens to ship traffic. The canal offers a much shorter distance for ships traversing the world, and the Roman Empire stands to gain considerable wealth from possible tolls as well as trade. To further strengthen its position in Africa, the Roman government begins to make official claims in the Saharan desert north of Egypt's southern border. However, some in the Empire scoff at this, suggesting that the Empire is wasting its time claiming barren land and should focus on more resourceful areas of Africa, Asia, or Europe.
Monarch Heonjong continues to plan new reforms for Korea and continues investing heavily in technology and science. Meanwhile, industrialisation and modernisation continues in Korea (similar to OTL Japan's Meiji Restoration).
The republics, in decreasing order of population are: North Osea (750,000), South Osea (680,000), Uruguay (550,000), Cordoba (450,000), Buenos Aires (400,000), San Salvacion (300,000), East Osea (270,000), Bolivia (200,000), Granada (280,000), Santiago (140,000), Castile (70,000) and Paraguay (45,000).
However, unlike in Osea, the area formerly known as Vorlayacor is annexed into Andea as The
  • Ayutthaya: We continue the war with Burma and send 10,000 conscripts to the warfront. (Do I do my own algo for this? Because if I do, it will be way off.) Military is improved as we introduce conscription and research into modern weaponry. Infrastructure is also improved as more houses and trading posts are set up around the Kingdom.
    • Borealia: agrees to sell Autthaya repeating weapons to aid in their conflict.
    • Yes, you start the algo yourself and then the mods will correct it as needed. -MP
More schools and houses are built. Industry continues improving and more factories are built along in cities, creating jobs for people of Morocco. Sunni Islam rises in popularity and gains more followers. Meanwhile, more new trains are produced and four new railway lines are opened in service. A few ironclads are built and added to Moroccan Navy. Sultan Aslal I continues to plan new reforms for Morocco and continues investing heavily in technology and science.
We resume to improve cities and establish the capital of the Caliphate as Baghdad, as for diplomatic reason, Mecca is impractical.
• Duchy of Oldenburg: Work continues on the government's poor projects, with poor and unemployed people often working on the actual construction.
A side-loading rifle is introduced to the armed forces. A rapid-fire firearm is invented with a rotating multiple barrels, crank-powred (OTL Gatling gun) by Genrik Uzvards, a Latvian. It is subsequently named the Uzvard Gun, and several are commissioned by the government. Meanwhile, an attempt at making an electrically-powered light source are now common amongst the science community, and a reward of 10,000 zolotniks is offered to the first to give the Pskov Academy of Sciences a working, feasible prototype. The Conservatives set up another "International Slavic Congress", and invites representatives from all slavic nations to join a celebration of traditions that unite all slavs in Pskov. The Communist Party of the Grand Union grows somewhat. More parties are registered with the Central Party Registry. In any case, seeing the disorder in the Nordic Union, the Grand Senate votes to send financial aid to the Nordic Union. The Grand Senate declares the government legitimate, however, it also recognizes that certain reforms to make the NU more democratic should happen. Supreme Prince Ilya Semashko offers to act as a mediator between government and reformist sides. However, he states that if riots are not quelled, then The Grand Union Army has the right to intervene, if King Fredrik accepts their aid, of course. The Grand Senate quickly grants permission in a nearly unanimous vote, not wanting chaos just across the Sea with on of their largest trading partners. The Grand Senate also, in the case of civil war, secretly votes to support the government "against the forces of extremism". The Government remains strong that government should not run business. However, this does not mean that there should not be regulations as to the conditions of workers. More laws are put into place, this time mandating things. The Supreme Prince once again asks if the Nordic Union is in need of aid. The Grand Senate authorizes the use of military force if necessary in Scandinavia. After King Fredrik's suicide, the Grand Senate realizes the danger of the anarchy now in Scandinavia. The ready troops are increased to 40,000. The Supreme Prince meets with the Bavarian King, discussing terms of possible joint intervention, having already received what amounts to a blank check from the Grand Senate as to military action in Scandinavia.
  • Algonquia: continues to put down the revolts in the former Arcadia, re-inforcing the troops involved with a further 20,000 men. Algonquia joins Reme in recommending a conference to resolve the conflict between Mexaca and Hamburg, and offers to host it.'
Scientists continue to improve particle physics, and work on developing mechanisms at smaller and smaller levels. Repeating weapons continue to improve in the military. The first surgery with general anesthesia is performed this year. Borealian ironclads continue to be constructed. More settlers continue to pour into the northern territories. We continue to uphold the New Munich Declaration along with Algonquia, Reme, Mexaca, and Arcadia. This year, many of the old members of the Curia were voted out in favor of the emerging Romanesque party. The new Curia quickly vetoes the aggression against Germany, and strongly favors seeking conciliation between Mexaca and Hamburg. A representative is sent to the conference in Algonquia, proposing to accept Belize into the New Munich Pact should it be granted independence.

Seeing the Marian Liberals get nowhere, Franz-Victor temporarily dissolves the Diet and gives himself executive authority over coal, rail, and food (specifically grain, corn and potato). He then attempts to institute pragmatic policies that incorporate both Rudolphine and Marian characteristics. A slight economic recovery occurs as wealth re-enters the lower and middle classes and people are once more fed. However, in an unpopular move, Franz-Victor then de-regulates the rail, coal, and food industry, immediately earning the hatred of the lower classes. Bread prices increase astronomically as a general environment of fear replaces that of anger and political vitriol.

The assault on Stockholm takes place. The bloody Nordic Revolution is over in Scandinavia. The Scandinavian Empire, a powerhouse in Northern Europe that has remained in place for roughly four centuries, is replaced by the United Nordic Republics. Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland form separate nations, all allied with the goal of representing the people of Scandinavia and their interests rather than that of an aristocracy. The African holdings are governed by Denmark while Helluland in Borealia joins the Icelandic Commonwealth. The revolution in Britain has yet to end.

In the Roman Empire, a minor Jewish social schism breaks out between the Judean People's Front and the People's Front of Judea. It is ended when the Judean People's Front forms a crack suicide squad and commits mass suicide as a political protest.

  • United German Kingdoms: New Mecklenburg in OTL Australia expands by 750 px. UGK diplomats are sent Algonquia for the conference. As Duke Charles, leader of the Belizian delegation in the UGK parliament and now the diplomatic team, embarks his ship for Algonquia, chants of "Stay United" are called from the gathered masses in Belizestadt. The team arrives at the conference and lays out to UGK terms; the New Munich states will de-militarize their side of the border, and renounce all claims to Belize. Belize will also remain an equal overseas province of the UGK, with its full representation in parliament as such.
  • French Empire: We expand our military and economy.
    • French America: We expand our military and navy.
    • French Afrika: We expand our military and infrastucture.
  • Ruthenia: The Ruthenians continue to expand their military.
  • Andea: The Process of Re-admission begins, with the cities of Nov Xoyron and Buenos Dias being re-admitted to Andea. Military stands at 420,000 men, with a large number of them being active in Vorylayacor and Osea to facilitate the reconstruction. In total, 100,000 men remain active in Osea and 200,000 in Vorlayacor. An additional 20,000 men are placed on the Falkland Islands to restock the Military bases in the region. Labour strikes in the city of Arequipa break out. Though the National Guard is quick to disperse the Strikes, the growing call for labour reforms begins to emerge. Andea also erects the first national Library in the nation, combined with an increasing number of universities in Andea and Osea. Funding is also placed into primary education in order to increase literacy. Agricultural sectors of the economy also grow as well. The navy also sees some expasnison, with the construction of new shipyards and ironclads. Population stands at 31 million. The Marines, Navy and National Guard are reformed. Andean Saliors land in the Southern Indian State of Vijayanagar and demand that the nation opens trade to Andea. We also request trade with China and Japan.
    • Osean Confederation: Roads, railroads and factories are all rapidly built up. Andean Settlers are pushed into the territory to fill the need for workers. • Duchy of Oldenburg: The Catholic Bloc and Socialists use their influence in the Landtag to expand the education of poor children. This involves an increase im funding to Church-run schools, as well as the introduction of secular state-run schools (requested by the Socialists). Military improves.
  • Mexaca: is alarmed by Remen aggression, and would like to know why it is taking these steps against our empire. The military deploys half to the border with Reme, and is ready for war at any moment.
  • Ayutthaya: The war with Burma continues. Military and economy is improved (As I'm too tired to write anything long and fancy)
  • Algonquia: Officially invites Hamburg, Mexaca, Reme and Borealia to the Nemiscau Conference to resolve the tensions over Belize once and for all. Meanwhile, with the revolts put down, the remaining Arcadians (who have not yet starved during the famine caused by the revolt) are rounded up and expelled outright. Those who remain change their names to Algonquian ones and give up their cultural identities. The rebels' property is taken and sold off to native Algonquians. With the first ironclad a success, three more are launched. Backed by several naval ships, an Algonquian trade fleet visits the Zulu, Kongo and Madagascar asking for trade deals. As the various earlier philosophies continue to grow and factionalize, these turn into competing ideas that promote further progression and ingenuity from the younger generation. The streets are lit by lamps powered by kerosene. Scientists continue to improve particle physics, and work on developing mechanisms at smaller and smaller levels. Repeating weapons continue to improve in the military. Anesthesia becomes commonplace for surgeries. Borealian ironclads continue to be constructed. More settlers continue to pour into the northern territories. We continue to uphold the New Munich Declaration along with Algonquia, Reme, Mexaca, and Arcadia. An organization for promoting peace in the Pacific is established, whose members currently include Korea, China and Ayutthaya. We offer an alliance and trade agreement with Marrikuwuyanga (Mod response, please). The Curia supports the Republican Rebels as the true government of Britannia. As the Nordic Union has been dissolved, the Curia declares that the Borealian colonies of Scandinavia should fall under the protection of Algonquia. At the Nemiscau Conference, Borealia accepts the Sachem's proposal and urges Hamburg to accept as well. Mexaca is strongly suggested to join the Nemiscau Conference and ascend to a proposal. If they do not, then a decision will be made in their absence. The Curia also condemns the actions of Reme, who are seen as greatly risking the integrity of Borealia in favor of their personal economy. Their offer to leave the New Munich pact is taken under great consideration.
    • Marrikuwuyanga: Declines.
More artillery stuff. Aragonn seeks the return of the Aragonese island of Minorca from the Netherlands, who are currently wrongly in possession of native Aragonese lands. Aragon is willing to pay money for the island, but would prefer the peaceful transfer of land. #NoMoreWikiaChanges
In a radical turn of events, the Government, comprised of the Anticlericalist Liberals and Socialists, and to a certain point agrarians, secularize the school system, removing the church from those positions. This causes uproar, but after six months of debate, the law passes 501-499. A bare majority, but enough to enact the law.

1877

In an uncontrollable situation, a severe crop blight strikes Bavaria and leads to famine as the King desperately tries to solve the situation. Regulation of grain prices is now impossible, and his only hope lay in lowering taxes greatly. This not only ineffective for the lower class and bourgeois, but causes a huge deficit in the royal treasury, leading to more depression.

  • United German Kingdoms: New Mecklenburg in OTL Australia expands by 750 px. The government of Hamburg announces that a referendum will take place in Belize, regarding its potential status in the New Munich Pact. Campaigning begins almost immediately for either side, though it's clear who's better supported. The Belizian National Party, a fringe far-left party with very few seats in the Belizian legislature, and none in the United parliament, takes control of the pro-NMP side, though their rallies are attended by only a few hundred. The Crown Loyalist Party, the anti-NMP champion, however, hold rallies attended by several thousand jubilant supporters.
[Mil/Eco Turn]
  • ''Roman Empire: The Empire is now at a period of peace and prosperity after a long period of war and uncertainty. As European interest in Africa begins to heat up, Roman officials begin exploring possible resources or benefits from extended interaction with Madagascar, and trade and diplomats are directed there to assess the situation. Under the pretext of trade violations and potential threats to European enclaves, the Empire deploys a large number of troops to the Malabar Archonate, under the pretense of defending the territory. A Roman inventor creates a device for nearly instantaneous audio communication. He calls this device the telephone.
Reme disapproves of the showed militarization by Mexica, and demands for the New Munich pact to come together and discuss the problem.Meanwhile, a Socialist-based party starts to gain seats in parliament, with plans to make Reme a more self-sufficient state.
Monarch Heonjong continues to plan new reforms for Korea and continues investing heavily in technology and science. Meanwhile, industrialisation and modernisation continues in Korea (similar to OTL Japan's Meiji Restoration).
  • Mexaca: Continues to militarizes the border with Reme, and sends diplomats to the Nemisauc Conference, where Mexaca pushes its claims on Belize forward. The economy of Mexaca continues to flourish, and ships are sent to open trade with other nations, such as Korea, France, and the Zulu. As the empire continues to centralizes, most people think of themselves as Mexacan, and are united against Reme. Military spending increases, with the standing army being brought up to about 110,000 men, all armed with modern weapons, and modern artillery is introduced. Troops from the Reme border report on its actions of fortifying the border, and this is seen as a threat to Mexaca.
  • Andea: Military stands at 420,000 men, with a large number of them being active in Vorylayacor and Osea to facilitate the reconstruction. Andea also erects the first national library in the nation, combined with an increasing number of universities in Andea (including the territories) and Osea. Funding is also placed into primary education in order to increase literacy. Agricultural sectors of the economy also grow as well. The navy also sees some expasnison, with the construction of new shipyards and ironclads. Population stands at 31 million. The Marines, Navy and National Guard are reformed. Construction of the Trans-Continental Railroad continues, with the Railroad now stretching from Cuzco to Buenos Aires. Plans to expand the railroad to Nox Xoyron continue as well.15,000 men are sent to Mexaca to support them against Reme. We clearly state to Germany, Reme and Borelia that these men will only be used to defend Andean Interests in Mexaca and not any sort of Offensive Operation.
  • Osean Confederation: Roads, railroads and factories are all rapidly built up. Andean Settlers are pushed into the territory to fill the need for workers. This leads to several new communities of Andean and Mestizos. The republics, in decreasing order of population are: North Osea (750,000), South Osea (680,000), Uruguay (550,000) Cordoba (450,000), Buenos Aires (400,000), San Salvacion (300,000), East Osea (270,000), Bolivia (200,000), Granada (280,000), Santiago (140,000), Castile (70,000), and Paraguay (45,000). More universities and libraries are funded by Andea. These institutions continue to promote a national Identity rather than an ethnic identity.
    • Vorlayacoran Territories: Following a similar model to the aftermath of the Osean Civil war, Andean leaders co-operate with local leaders in order to rebuild the nation from the war. However, unlike in Osea, the area formerly known as Vorlayacor is annexed into Andea. Several areas in Southern Vorlayacor are admitted to the Andean Union.
    • Mexaca: Thanks Andean for the support.
  • Ruthenia: The Ruthenians continue to expand their military.
We offer an alliance and trade agreement with Japan (Mode response, please). The Curia supports the Republican Rebels as the true government of Britannia. As the Nordic Union has been dissolved, the Curia declares that the Borealian colonies of Scandinavia should fall under the protection of Algonquia. At the Nemiscau Conference, Borealia agrees to the idea of giving Belize a local government under Hamburg direction, but so long as their local parliament has equal authority to Hamburg's (making their referendum a Mod event). The Curia also condemns the actions of Reme, who are seen as greatly risking the integrity of Borealia in favor of their personal economy. Their offer to leave the New Munich pact is taken under great consideration.
  • Japan has a player now, you must talk to him. -MP
  • Japanese Empire: We are delighted that the Union of Borealia has offered both an alliance and trade. However, we must decline the alliance offer as we have just established diplomatic relations. We do, however, agree to a trade agreement and hope that our mutual trade benefits both of our nations and sets the course for friendlier relations to come.
  • United Nordic Republics
    • Republic of Denmark: The repair of Copenhagen begins this year. Now that the panic has died down, the Danes turn to pick up the nation and help the common man get his bearings after the bloody Nordic Revolutions. A photograph of the ruins of Copenhagen Castle is taken and distributed around Europe, a solemn memorial of those who died liberating Denmark from the Scandinavian aristocracy. General elections take place, with General Hans Kuschek forming the Venstre political party in Denmark. The Danish Folketing is currently at 57% Venstre, 32% Socialdemokratiet, 11% other. Socialism in Denmark becomes a very popular economic system. Holstein joins Denmark as a member state. The Danish Republic is broken into seven states: Holstein, South Jutland, Central Jutland, North Jutland, Funen, and Zealand. Denmark retains the former Scandinavian Second, Fifth, and Sixth fleets. They own the former Scandinavian African colonies. Denmark and her colonies expand their economies greatly.
    • Republic of Sweden: Rebuilding efforts in Stockholm begin. A manhunt begins in Sweden as the former Scandinavian aristocracy flees to northern Sweden. Sweden's borders are set at OTL. Construction on the new Riksdag Building begins in Stockholm. Currently, the Riksdag is dominated by the Social Democratic party, with a whopping 82% of popular vote going to the Social Democratic party of Sweden. Juhanni Eriksen becomes the first President of the Swedish Republic. The Scandinavian First, Third, and Seventh fleet joins Sweden. The economy of Sweden improves.
    • Republic of Norway: The uprisings in Oslo were relatively peaceful. Therefore, Oslo is able to quickly recover from the Scandinavian Revolutions. Nevertheless, elections divide Norway and her people heavily. The Conservative Party just barely beats the Labour Party in the elections. Christjen Sigurson becomes the first president of Norway. Norways retains the Fourth and Eighth fleets. The Norwegian economy improves.
    • Republic of Finland: Finland celebrates its independence from Sweden this year. Parades in Helsinki are held. However, the Finnish people have a lot of work ahead of them. The first Finnish General Elections take place. The People's Party, led by Jonna Kekkonnen, wins the General Elections this year. Jonna, a woman, is one of the first democratically-elected female rulers in European history. This paves the way for a progressive Finland. The Republic of Finland retains the Scandinavian Ninth and Auxiliary fleets. Karelia joins Finland as a constituent state. The economy of Finland improves markedly.
    • Commonwealth of Iceland: Iceland inherits the Faroes, Greenland, and Helluland. The population of Iceland, which exploded to nearly one million inhabitants, elects Davith Skaftason as President of the Commonwealth of Iceland. The Progressive Party holds the majority of seats in the Althing this year. Iceland, hearing Borealia's statements, rejects handing Helluland to Algonquia, stating, "While the invasion of Algonquia was wrong, the fact remains that they intend on the extermination of Europeans in Borealia. We are civil people, ready to do business with Algonquia, but we refuse to aid their genocidal tendencies." They do, however, wish to establish trade with Borealia and Reme. The economy of Iceland improves.
      • "Civil people" who routinely betray and invade their allies, who brutally overthrow their own governments, and who themselves effectively conducted a genocide of Native Borealians when establishing the colonies they now treat as theirs. Algonquia laughs at Iceland's hypocrisy and the idea that they have any right to land stolen from the Na-Dene, the Inuit and the Chippawa.
      • The Grand Union (Pskov) wishes to renew all previous trade treaties that it had with the Norse crown with each nordic republic. In exchange it will recognize the legitimacy of all governments, and offer to establish bilateral diplomatic relations, inviting an ambassador from each republic to take up residence in the Ambassadorial village in the inner ring of the Pskov Krom(Kremlin).
      • Icelandic Diplomacy: The actions of Scandinavia several decades ago do not reflect the opinions and wishes of the Icelandic people. They ask that Algonquia realize that Iceland is not, in any sense, the Scandinavian Empire, nor is Iceland run by Scandinavia's formerly corrupt aristocracy. They also remind Algonquia that Iceland did not, at any point, attack the Scandinavian aristocracy during the revolution. Furthermore, they remind Algonquia that Inuit and Chippawa relations with Helluland have been nothing but beneficial for both sides. Finally, they request that Algonquia cease unsolicited slander and libel against Iceland and her people.
      • All Nordic Republics graciously accept the Pskovian wishes.
      • Algonquia: was invaded - not by the corrupt aristocracy - but by the soldiers of a country which was intent, from peasant to noble, on the domination of the original inhabitants of Borealia, a country whose legacy continues in Iceland. Algonquia further expresses polite doubt that the Inuit, Na-Den and Chippawa found being forced to give up their land to foreign settlers or to be almost wiped out by foreign disease very beneficial. It recommends an end to this blatant theft of their hunting grounds. It lastly assures Iceland that no unsolicited slander has occurred, only the expression of truth.
      • Icelandic Diplomacy: There is no use blaming the people of Iceland for a war that happened decades ago. The government gave an order, the people carried out the order. Algonquia is assured that the Inuit, Chippawa, and many other tribes have not been forced out of lands in Helluland. In fact, the population density is such that encounters between natives and European settlers are rare. Hostilities are even rarer. Algonquia is assured that their assumptions of aggression and intolerance on the part of Iceland is misplaced.
  • Duchy of Oldenburg: The Catholic Bloc and Socialists use their influence in the Landtag to expand the education of poor children. This involves an increase im funding to Church-run schools, as well as the introduction of secular state-run schools (requested by the Socialists). Military improves.
  • Algonquia: Continues to build up its navy and military, constructing numerous new ironclads. Two new naval bases are built at Aksimiki and at Maskekon on Hudson Bay, while local militias are built up among the local Na-Dene population. Meanwhile, Na-Dene and Inuit chieftains within Algonquia, who have representation in the Council of Sachems, encourage others to join also. As a result, Algonquia expands 5000 km south from Great Slave Lake, creating a border with its ally Borealia. Na-Dene and Inuit chieftains throughout the North are traded with, armed and encouraged to fight to defend their sovereignty and traditional privileges against nations which seek to take them. Meanwhile, angered Na-Dene and Inuit in Helluland are armed and supported also to fight for their freedom. Algonquia's Arcadian population following the failed revolt is negligible, although large populations of loyal French, Frisian and Germans remain. To general surprise, the Tribal Socialists win a majority in the Council of Sachems.
    • Labrador also finds itself almost empty of Arcadians, most having died or fled during the revolt. Those who remain largely choose to flee to Dutch Newfoundland or Reme, taking their government compensation. The navy and army is built up, while industrialization continues.
  • Empire of Japan: The New Japanese Emperor assumes power, Emperor Raijingusan, who upon his cornation looked out to the ocean and declares "I am Emperor Raijingusan, I will lead this nation into a new era of peace, prestige and prosperity. I shall lead the Empire of Japan into the modern age, where we can become equals with the West and rise out of the ashes and become the most powerful nation in all of Asia. We already have trade with Andea and with Borelia, we all ready have the resources to become great, now all we have to do is to put those resources into action to build up the roads and the canals to transport our people, the houses to make sure our people are stable, the hospitals to make sure our citizens are healthy, the schools to train and educate the Japanese people. To do this we must embrace the West, we must embrace the modern age, and add to this our traditional Japanese way of life to become the greatest nation on Earth, the Land of the Rising Sun." With this the OTL Meiji Reforms began, and Japanese diplomats we sent out to the great nations of Andea, Borelia, Reme, Mexxaca, Rome, Germany, and the United Norse Crown to request aid in modernizing our nation.
In a radical turn of events, the Government, comprised of the Anticlericalist Liberals and Socialists, and to a certain point agrarians, secularize the school system, removing the church from those positions. This causes uproar, but after six months of debate, the law passes 501-499 - bare majority, but enough to enact the law.

Massive protests and revolts occur in Landshut, Munich and as far north as Berlin, calling for the immediate abdication of the royal family. Sensing his life is in danger, Franz-Victor abdicates.

  • United German Kingdoms: New Mecklenburg in OTL Australia expands by 750 px. The Government of the UGK passes a resolution, refusing to acknowledge the legitimacy of the United Nordic Republics, and condemning the overthrow of the rightful monarchy. Meanwhile, campaigning in Belize for its New Munich Pact membership referendum continues, with the anti-NMP consistently drawing more attendants to their rallies. Also in Belize, the local government is granted autonomy over some local matters, like education, in accordance with its proposal. UGK delegates also affirm that the UGK side of the border will remain militarized, so long as Mexaca, who escalated a peaceful relationship to tension with its unprovoked militarization, keeps its army mobilized.
  • Ruthenia: The Ruthenians continue to expand their military.
  • Andea: Military stands at 420,000 men, with a large number of them being active in Vorylayacor and Osea to facilitate the reconstruction. Plans to expand the railroad to Nox Xoyron continue as well.Andea and Osea, seeing weakness in British South America, declare war on Britain, hoping to recover terrtirory that rightfully belongs to Osea. We call upon our Brazillian and Roman Allies for Support.
    • Imperial Japanese Diplomacy: Greetings Andea, we see that your nation is a model nation of the Americas and we hope that you will help us modernize by trading your guns and ironclads for something we have, is there anything that we have that is of interest to you?

Mexaca: Accepts Japan's request for trade and supports Andea against Britain, citing the need to drive out the European Powers from Borelia and Hesperia. Tensions are still high with Reme.

  • Imperial Japanese Dip: We thank Mexaca for accepting our trade agreement and we hope that this starts the beginning of a wonderful friendship between our two nations.
We begin selling revolvers and repeating weapons to Japan, and send engineers to improve their industry. The Curia supports the Republican Rebels as the true government of Britannia. Support is given to the native rebels in Helluland against Iceland. At the Nemiscau Conference, the members of New Munich have come into accord with a decision on Belize, but still await Hamburg's reply. Furthermore, seeing Reme's negligence to resolve a conflict they themselves have instigated, thus risking the integrity of the continent, Borealia opens up to acknowledge Reme's resignation from the New Munich pact. In addition, some members of the Curia further condemn Reme for their misconduct under the Treaty of Neolais, which some believe was illegally managed.
    • Imperial Japanese Dip: We thank Borelia for selling us revolvers and repeating weapons to Japan as well for sending engineers to our nation to improve our industry. We hope that this trade has improved your industry and military as much as it did ours.
  • Croatian Archvoivodeship (Hrvatsko Nadvojvodstvo): Sewerage systems similar to Ragusan ones are built in major towns of the Archvoivodeship. With growing Ragusan influence, and the beginning of further colonization, the navy expands rapidly using much of the Ragusan expertise. Moreover, with the influx of new resources in form of lumber, labour and metals, the navy begins expanding at a fast rate. More and more ships capable of crossing the Atlantic with ease are built. The Sabor intends to restore the glorious naval culture of the Neretva peoples and plans to do so by expanding the navy. The kravata (tie) is more and more used as an accessory. Trade routes are strengthened and the salt mines around Tuzla are explored as well as the salt industry in Pag and Nin. Using irrigation from the Danube, Sava, Drava, Drina, Cetina, Una, Vrbaš, Kupa, Neretva and other rivers the fields in the kingdom are developed, used for crops such as wheat, rye and barley. With trade routes increasing and Croatia entering an era of peace and of stability, the development of new trade ships is issued. Stone mining is furthered as well as the timber industry. The need for these resources rises as urbanization carries on. Iron ores in Dugopolje, Zenice and at last the 'mud' ore in Vojvodina and Eastern Slavonia are to be exploited alongside the silver and copper ores more frequently and of better quality than the iron ores. The exploitation of iron ores in the Lika and Gorski kotar areas continues. The salt industry in Ston is funded by the government. The influx of resources from Dahomey aids the economy. However, the government makes sure that the gold arriving isn't immediately put on the market in order to control the inflation in the worth of gold. The silver mine in Srebrenica is mined. The administrative reform continues. Kotor Saraka (Adelaide) continues to expand.
    • Županija Dahomey: The natural resources are quickly put to use, such as coconuts, cotton both refined and raw as well as the gold. Finally, the wood industry prospers as materiel is needed for new ships that would help keep the connection between Croatia and Dahomey strong.
    • Isles of the Archvoivodeship (Otoci Nadvojvodstva): The infrastructure is built up.
    • Županija of Hercules Pillars' (Županija Herkulovih Stupova): The županija's pivotal position as a trade nod creates an a sufficite allowing for the economy to expand.
    • Priština Voivodeship (Prištinsko Vojvodstvo): Due to the focus on the regional denominations of the nation, the Serbian national sense slowly suffers. ANNEXED.
    • Carantanian Voivodeship (Karantansko Vojvodstvo): Being Alpine Slavic nation, the leaders begin a programme to create a standardized Carantanian language that will reflect on both the Slavic and Alpine (Germanic) aspects of Carantania.
    • Sukadang Voivodeship: Croatization.
Monarch Heonjong continues to plan new reforms for Korea and continues investing heavily in technology and science. Meanwhile, industrialisation and modernisation continues in Korea (similar to OTL Japan's Meiji Restoration).
The same Roman inventor who invented the telephone demonstrates his mastery of the sciences by inventing the incandesant light bulb. Roman forces are sent to Andea to help them in their war. To help Japan modernize as well as open up for Roman trade, Roman engineers and officers are sent to aid the effort along with a free gift of two ironclads and 5000 modern rifles. The Imperial Senate votes to recognize the Empire of Reme after more than seventy years of diplomatic isolation.
Reme disapproves of the showed militarization by Mexica, and demands for the New Munich pact to come together and discuss the problem.Meanwhile, a Socialist-based party starts to gain seats in parliament, with plans to make Reme a more self-sufficient state.
  • Duchy of Oldenburg:' The government focuses on the military this year, specifically on bringing the navy up to modern standards. Work begins on five ironclad ships, equipped with the latest weaponry available.
  • Imperial Japan: We welcome the industrial engineers from Borrelia into our country and we immediately appoint them as industrial advisors. We also accept all trade agreements. As a result of our newly acquired resources and new industrial advisors the Japanese industrial age is born with the very first modern factories springing out near the capital and the first modern infrastructure projects also blossom, such as roads, railroads, schools, and hospitals being created in major cities. This increase of infrastructure and industrialization starts to grow the economy, and in order to further the growth of infrastructure and the economy we invest in growing infrastructure and growing the economy. To further this modernization, we request from the Roman Empire 5000 rifles and ironclads in return for something that they want, we are open to negotiations. Meanwhile, land reforms are implemented in order to redistribute land and to increase tax revenue, furthering the improvement of our economy.
  • Algonquia: Public opinion is thoroughly shocked by the arrival of several hundred emaciated Na-Dene in Nemiscau this year. With their hunting grounds annexed by Icelandic expansion, they were forced to migrate south, with many dying over the winter. Algonquia continues to arm and support Na-Dene and Inuit bands to defend control of their traditional lands, including assisting those distant from Algonquia to centralize and fight back against such expansion. Several hundred Algonquian advisors travel around Scandinavian territory to provide such assistance, landing at Tuktoyaktuk on the Arctic Coast. Twenty troops establish a fortified post there to provide weapons and training. The navy continues to be developed, with new ironclads launched. The newly elected Socialist government launches a series of land redistribution measures, gaining wide support from the rural poor. Algonquia joins Hamburg in refusing to recognize the United Nordic Republics, citing their intention to continue the theft of land from native Borealians.
    • Labrador is virtually free of Arcadians, with the last few leaving this year as the government triples the bounties offered if they leave. The local military expands to 15,000, and new systems of coastal fortifications are completed, especially around major ports.
More artillery stuff. Aragonn seeks the return of the Aragonese island of Minorca from Hamburg, who are currently wrongly in possession of native Aragonese lands. Aragon is willing to pay money for the island, but would prefer the peaceful transfer of land. #NoMoreWikiaChanges
In the aftermath of school secularization, the religious of the nation are in uproar. Out of the ashes of this arises one man, formerly the "leader" of the nationalist faction, creates what he deems an "alternative" to the National Conservative Party, the Christian Social Union. After gathering enough members, the Christian National Union is officially registerd as a political party, currently holding three seats in the General Assembly. The Nationalist faction, a faction that once held government and official opposition, has effectively ceased to exist.

1879

King Franz-Victor is exiled to Hamburg where he is offered peace, security and standing.

  • United German Kingdoms: New Mecklenburg in OTL Australia expands by 750 px. Scandal rips through the Pro-New Munich Pact faction in Belize, as its revealed its champion, the Belize National Party, has been accepting foreign donations from the Commonwealth of Borealia. What little support the BNP has been able to scrounge together evaporates, and their rallies essentially turn into ghost towns. Military aid is sent to the Algonquian and Borealian armies fighting the UNR.
The Sultan suffers a stroke. Meanwhile, Punjab is annexed into a province.
[Mil/Eco Turn]

  • ''Korea: Korea continues to build up its military. Monarch Heonjong continues to plan new reforms for Korea and continues investing heavily in technology and science. Meanwhile, industrialisation and modernisation continues in Korea (similar to OTL Japan's Meiji Restoration).
  • Algonquian: Public opinion is enraged by the mistreatment of the Na-Dene, Inuit and Chippawa by the Icelanders. The Council of Sachems votes overwhelmingly, 306 to 3, for war. The resolution is kept secret, however, until war is declared on Iceland (and presumably, the rest of the United Nordic Republics) and 50,000 Algonquian troops cross the border. Conscription is enacted and the government's bullion reserves are opened, enabling the recruitment of many more soldiers for defence and to guard rear areas. The attack is spearheaded by a division specifically recruited from Algonquia's substantial French, Frisian and German minorities to hamstring Icelandic accusations of native brutality. Algonquia calls on the rest of the New Munich Pact to aid in the war. Public opinion is overjoyed, and thousands flock to recruiting depots, eager for vengeance for the atrocities perpetrated against their parents and grandparents by Scandinavian troops.
    • Labrador: Remains on a peaceful footing, although the local military is mobilized for defence if necessary.
      • Reme, not a part of the New Munich pact, wishes to keep ties with Algonia, and sends military support of 75,000 men and 50 artillery guns.
  • Mexaca: Is concerned about Remian aggression, and the Emperorn Maxamillian II decides that the army shall number one million men, if this is possible. If not, 500,000 men. As the military grows in response to this demand, Mexaca undergoes a militarization, with nationalism on the rise. The border with Belize is further militarized, and more troops are deployed on the border with Reme. Weapons factories are built across Mexaca, and modern railways are introduced to help ferry troops across the nation in the event of war. Modern weaponry is manufactured, resulting in more artillery, rifles, and machine guns. The army is about 150,000.
    • Reman Diplomacy: Reme only left the New Munich Pact to defend our economy and our trading partners. Reme doesn't want war, and will defend itself if necessary. Reme would also point out that the areas west of the Mississippi are a de jure French dominion, and therefore if troops are moved there, would be declaring on France as well as Reme.
    • Borealia requests Mexaca's assistance in the liberation of Helluland
  • Ruthenia: The Ruthenians continue to expand their military.
  • Britannia: With the secession of Britannia from the Nordic Union, and the general disorganization of all the states, due to huge revolutionary tides, Britannia is now left without a King. With no current popular noble families with past histories of holding the position, nor certainty on foreign nobility being invited into the position, the Prime Minister Oswold Chaddock is in quite a predicament. In the meantime, what few powers the monarchy already had in Britannia are transfered over to Parliament. British soldiers are currently busy, when not attempting to keep peace during many protests and some riots in the large cities on the isles, being toured around what colonies Britannia has retained in the chaos and succession, with a great many being focused on Patagonia. Due to the suddenness of the secession and instability, there is little known about what to do about the currency situation. With an unstable currency that was shared with a now-dissolved union, the economy continues its faulter, leading to inflation, wage decreases, and more unsafe working conditions, leading to only more protests and riots. In support of fixing this, a prominant protestor and syndicalist named Devon Goddard begins to espouse rhetoric about condensing the economy into trade unions and confederations that would work together towards a common goal of bettering their industry and intertrade between other unions/confederations that would work to keep prices low, wages high, and supply-demand in check. Due to his words being rather hopeful in a bleak situation, he becomes rather popular. Navy/Econ turn
    • Britannic Patagonia: With the recent invasion, revolutionary sentiment, and instability, rather than get dragged into a protracted and costly war that would further weaken the newish state, the Britannic government of Patagonia, led by Governor Richard Waldwin, offers to go ahead and bring a peaceful end to the Andean invasion before it ravages both nations. In the case that this peace and treaty table offer is rejected, defenses are erected farther from the advancing Andean line to prepare for prolonged conflict. Infra turn.
    • Britannic Desircit (OTL Southern Australia): The colony halts expansion for a brief time as it attempts to consolidate itself and not stretch its resources too thin in these rougher times. Current Governor Kenton Alhstan requests an extra garrison of Britannic soldiers be left at Desircit to keep the peace when the inevitable protests begin in earnest. This is denied, however, due to the belief that the protests will only be tied to the main nations with heavier industry. Navy/Econ turn

A side-loading rifle is introduced to the armed forces. A rapid-fire firearm is invented with a rotating multiple barrels, crank-powered (OTL Gatling gun) by Genrik Uzvards, a Latvian. The African west coast colony expands by 10,000 sq km, so does Zlatobrezhie.
The first motor car is demonstrated in Franznacken. More settlers continue to pour into the northern territories. We continue to uphold the New Munich Declaration along with Algonquia, Reme, Mexaca, and Arcadia. An organization for promoting peace in the Pacific is established, whose members currently include Korea, China and Ayutthaya. Borealia declares war on Iceland, and send 50,000 troops to aid Algonqia. The other members of New Munich and Germany are encouraged to aid in this endeavor. The Curia supports the Republican Rebels as the true government of Britannia. Reme is still held in contempt for their misconduct at Neolais and Nemiscau. Borealia gives considerable financial support to the Belize nationalist party. In addition, the Curia votes that all member of the New Munich Pact should receive financial benefits to improve their growing economies, in the hopes of accepting Belize.
  • Morocco: The Kingdom of Morocco continues to improve its economy, infrastructure and build up its military, mainly the army and navy. Morocco continues to westernize the nation and the population continues to grow by adding 100,000 people every year. The nation expands by 1000 px per year to keep it stronger and independent, with a few new cities are built, roads and railroads are built between old and new cities.
Meanwhile a Socialist-based party starts to gain seats in parliament, with plans to make Reme a more self-sufficient state. The party slowly gains more popularity, getting more seats in Parliament by each election. Reme sends troops and artillery to the war against the UNR in Northern Borealia. Reme, depending on the result of the Belizean referendum next turn, will decide whether to withdraw from or stay in the New Munich pact (I haven't officially left yet.) Reme wishes to ally with the Netherlands, and to help get its products out to more national markets. (Mod Response)
  • Dutch accept.
  • Duchy of Oldenburg: The military is improved.
After a series of tension, Roman troops and local Malabar militias invade the state of Venad, hoping to protect Malabar and the protectorates of other European powers.
    • Imperial Japan: We welcome the industrial engineers from Rome into our nation and immediately appoint them as industrial advisors. We also thank them deeply for sending them and gifting us two ironclads and 5000 rifles. This, combined with Borelian industrial engineers and trade with multiple nations result in a rapid industrialization of our nation with factories popping up and multiple infrastructure projects being spurred, with the construction of schools, roads, houses, and hospitals being made across our nation. This rapid industrialization results in the expansion of the middle class and the growth of our economy. To further this growth, we invest in the economy and infrastructure of our nation.
  • Andea: Military stands at 420,000 men, with a large number of them being active in Vorylayacor and Osea to facilitate the reconstruction. Plans to expand the railroad to Nox Xoyron continue as well. Andea and Osea, seeing weakness in British South America, declare war on Britain, hoping to recover terrtirory that rightfully belongs to Osea. We call upon our Brazillian and Roman Allies for Support.
