Results of the election

On November 8, 1864, the 1864 presidential election took place in the United States. Abraham Lincoln, the incumbent, was projected to lose in a landslide to anti-war candidate Horatio Seymour due to the virulent anti-war sentiment coming after the Battle of Washington. Carrying almost every state, Seymour won, 202-32. This election turned the negotiations for the Treaty of St. Louis in the Confederacy's favor.
