1820Edit

Not many people agree with Adam Lee because the British have generally been good to them and they don't really like natives. #racism.

Napoleon and his armies are defeated in one last great battle in southern Germany. With the coalition forces closing in on all sides and his numbers depleted, he sees no way out and decides to abdicate after restoring the League Council and naming his brother Karl as regent. The peace negotiations begin under Karl and the other brothers.

In Egypt, many people begin calling for Fawzia to abdicate and great general Muhammad Ali to seize control.

  • Ethiopian Empire: Dawit offers the olive branch to Egypt and says if accepted we will keep all the land south of Atbara and take no more. Even more so, if accepted we will help restore order and get the economy running again. After great results with the war Yonas Abel is promoted even further to commander of the Royal Guard. Positions are entrenched on both sides of the Nile until a peace offer can be made. Dawitt continues to expand the Red Sea Fleet and the postal system. The roads and bridges in Sudan are repaired. Schools are set up in Sudan to teach the populace how to read and write. The first steam engine is produced in Adulis and practical uses for it are researched to see its best ability.
  • France: King Louis, age 18 and now having a bigger catalogue and knowledge of politics, offers asylum for Napoleon inside of France, and offers the Coalition members a place to sort out the treaty, that place being Paris. Coal mines begin appearing rapidly around France as new locations of coal deposits are found around the southeastern region. Factories begin to appear alongside the Seine river in Paris. After the rumors are confirmed of there being riches in the Congolese state of Zayiyr, King Louis sends his brother Pierre down to Zayiyr where the 20,000 troops are stationed to work out a possible occupation and colonial vassalization of the state, holding meetings with the Sultan/King. These meetings include the trading of technological weaponry and devices in exchange [for the occupation and colonial vassalization] (Scraw). If the colonial vassalization is allowed, Pierre will come back to France and tell the King of it. After that, an expedition will begin. If it isn't allowed, the 20,000 troops will then overthrow the state, execute the Sultan, Pierre will take hold as King, and mass enslavement of the Congolese people to begin mining the riches will take place.
    • Zayiyr says come at me, bro. -s
  • Brésil: With the final gardens being put in to the Imperial Mall, Grand Deputy David declares the St Denis project complete, and throws a parade for the Tricentennial Anniversary of the nation. As the last effects of the Panic of 1811 leave the nation, David removes the temporary edicts put in place during the recession. This means the federal government will fully administer roads and transportation again, and tariffs go back to normal. With normalization of tariffs, the Grand Assembly reforms their system with the Tariff Act of 1820. The act mostly increases tariffs across the board to cause a boost in Brésilian industry. Other effects of the act is that it makes a desired (or no) tariff rate for certain countries, a higher normal rate for others, and it de facto removes the unenforced embargo on French goods from the early days of independence. With the Napoleonic War ending, Ambassador Cosme Medici of the United Kingdom and Ambassador Chambrun of Burgundy offer to their respective nations that the new St Denis capital (a truly neutral city) could be where negotiations take place for the treaty. Although less prestigious than Paris, St Denis (OTL: Recife) is one of the best cities in the New World, and the nation has been truly neutral to both parties during the war. The army receives normal funding again. With new revenues from tariffs, David decides to subsidize Brésilian industry and further boost the domestic industry and economy. Colonization continues. David calls for the 1820 census and it is recorded that population has reached 10,008,613. Alexandre sends a request to the English to marry his son, Alexandre to an heir of the King (English request). Colonization continues. David calls for the 1820 census and it is recorded that population has reached 6,839,717 (approved by Scraw).
  • I highly doubt that. I realize this isn't OTL Brézil so I'll give a little leeway but the OTL turn of the century population was 3.4 million. if I give you an extra million for being from a bigger colonial power, and then another 600,000 from growth since Brézil is a pre-industrial hell-hole of a jungle and mountains right now. Your population is barely half of that. -Feud
  • I highly disagree with that. -Nick
  • Belkan Federation: The end of the war sees great fanfare and the Battle known as the Battle of Munich (being the closest city to the battlefield) is lauded as the dawn of a new peace in Europe. The coalition stands victorious. However, the Belkans have spent their blood, gold and practically their entire nation into a war that has fundamentally changed the nation inside and out and the amount of intelligence and technical expertise put into fighting this war has left the Belkan state somewhat longing for money, but also on a technological forefront. The necessity of ease of supply transport has created some of the first railways in Europe and a conjunctionary development of a primitive steam locomotive has begun to revolutionize transport across the country and industry has taken off as war necessity had left many factories geared toward war making now useless except for the now open markets of Germany, and the ease of construction and manufacture of so many consumer goods. This leaves many of these factories beginning to be developed under a new umbrella, they push toward textiles, concrete, glass, steel is also more effectively produced and the economy while devoid currently of government intervention begins to flourish as private businessmen start to buy these properties from the Belkan government who had appropriated them or built them specifically for the war effort. This does a great deal toward financing the Belkan debt and many of the soldiers returning home are given waivers for universities and guaranteed good wages for these new industrial jobs. The need to take care of its victorious soldiers is apparent to the Vozdh and his government and mandatory workers rights are implemented for these veterans before it's realized that the rights would be better if extended to all workers. The exploitative practices were wholly noticed under the war time and the Vozdh declares, will not be tolerated during peace. This disgruntles many of the private owners but the Belkan court system upholds the governments decision and orders military force be employed to guarantee these rights. Many wartime emergency powers granted to the Vozdh are retracted, and Vozdh Tito agrees marking one of the first times in European history a man granted near ultimate power turned down or declined to keep it, knowing he could have declared himself emperor. Belka offers peace to the Egyptians ready to discuss terms of support, surrender and stability to the Egyptians.
  • Papal States: Rome's many churches ring their bells to celebrate the final defeat of the tyrant Napoleon and Pope Michael II celebrates a thanksgiving Mass (as well as a smaller Divine Liturgy, he is an Easterner, after all). The Parlamento approves a plan to rebuild the regions which were devastated by the conflict. The pope's ally and homeland Belka is roundly praised for its role in the defeat of the menace. With the war at an end, the Congregation for Missions is able to reopen some lines of communication which had previously been clocked, or deemed too dangerous, due to the war.
  • Mehican Empire: Our administrators hold a census of the population of Mehico where Panama is counted but not as Mehico. The Mehican population is 11,681,789 and the Panamanian population is counted to be 3,587,891. Our administrators do note that there may be some inaccuracy up to 2% of the total population. This census also tried to categories all people in each Governate with the results being Maiam: 3% Europeans, 47% mixed Aztec-European, 21% Aztec. Guatemala: 23% Europeans, 34% mixed Aztec-European, 43% Aztec. Tejas: 34% Europeans, 8% mixed Dene-European, 17% mixed Aztec-European, 27% Aztec, 14% Dene. California: 12% Europeans, 27% mixed Dene-Europeans, 47% Dene, 14% Aztec-Dene. Panama: 37% Europeans, 21% Aztecs, 10% mixed Aztec-European, 32% Panamanian Native. These results are based upon the population so if some have not been counted then this is reflected in the percentage. Some historians working for the Emperor found that the royal family still holds some minor lands and farms in the Papal States. These lands are quite poor but they are still some lands of the royal family directly in Europe. Our Emperor even speaks some Italian but due to the first of his ancestors in Mzerka learning Portuguese and Dene his skill in the language has been small.
  • Mexican population is not 11 million-plus. At best, it's 6.7-7.2 million. -Feud
  • Cologne: With many Kolsch volunteers having continued to run the original Rhineland League institutions over the years, the fall of Napoleon comes as a breath of fresh air for the people of Cologne within the Rhineland League, or what has now come to be known as Germany. Archbishop Garrick and a small envoy go to Paris to join the discussions with Karl Bonaparte and the others – as the spiritual leader of Germany, he believes that he may be able to act in the interests of the good Catholics of a country that has been torn apart by a dictator. There have been enemy soldiers deep within German borders, doing all manner of unholy things, and it must come to an end. Furthermore, Germany has not had a chance to grow economically as well as it could have, in amongst all the war. Garrick knows that Germany has a vast plethora of resources, not just in Cologne itself, which could be used to eventually restore the Germans to their old glory. However, more pressingly – with Germany all but unified as a result of Napoleon’s rule, the Archbishop is concerned about the religious freedom of those in Cologne and Essen and emphasises that, as part of the peace process, the people of Cologne should be allowed to retain their independence to protect the religious heart of Germany from being affected by any future dictators. During the rule of this dictator, the influence of Cologne all but disappeared, putting a halt to many good projects for the education and welfare of German peoples. For the betterment of all German peoples, this should never happen again.
    • Essen: Abbess Yslana de Beauharnais flew mostly under the radar during the Napoleon years, protecting her people and coordinating the Adelphinian Canonesses in Tondo and New Germany. However, whilst most people celebrated Napoleon’s downfall with many festivities, Yslana is strangely quiet about her own celebrations. She instead chooses to focus on promulgating education again amongst the new generation, specifically amongst those who have only lived through the Napoleon years thus far. Those young people are taught the important aspects of what life was like prior to Napoleon, in order to draw important lessons for their futures. The mines in Essen continue to run, but pick up the pace in the aftermath of the war. Yslana also deals with a backlog of people in the hospital systems throughout Essen, where people had gone to as a safe haven when their homes in Germany had been destroyed. It will be a few years yet before the hospitals are back to normal.

1821Edit

In Brézil and Argentine a large wave of immigration occurs swelling populations and effectively solidifying Argentine control over much of its Patagonian claims.

The peace in Europe has come at a cost with the Congress of Paris underway, five great powers stand dominant over Europe. However, most of them are in a cautious postwar boom specifically Burgundy, Belka and Britain, as industrialization effectively brings most of the former soldiers into the work force putting women back in the household. Population booms also take effect as many of these men begin families.

The failure of the German unification movement has had profound impact across Europe with many defeated Austrians and Rhinelanders returning home maimed and many not returning at all. Karl Bonaparte is ousted by the League Council who decide to return to the pre-Lothairian system and

While the European war has ended, the war in the Middle East continues with Arabia fighting both Belka and Britain.

Napoleon is exiled and imprisoned on the Isle of Man per the decision of the Congress. It is one of the few things the bickering delegates can agree on.

Meanwhile, in Egypt, the military elements move to depose Queen Fawzia. She is replaced by great general Muhammad Ali as Prince Regent. Egypt provides her passage to the Isle of Man where she joins her husband in exile. Prince Napoleon, who escaped coalition capture and came to Egypt, is marked for death by the military council but Muhammad Ali lets him escape due to his personal affinity for the boy.

  • Argentine: As massive migration from Europe picks up, the military which is presently in charge of the revolutionary state of Argentine begins offering land grants to new arrivals in the hopes of quickly cultivating the claimed lands in the Patagonia, the Pampas region and farther north in the still sparsely populated Chaku plains. The terms for the grant are either in the form of installment payments of a small amount, the establishment of reserve units to be called up if needed in times of war due to the dangerous nature of Argentine's borders and internal frontiers, and for the appropriate cultivation of lands granted to migrant communities. From La Rivierre the capital (OTL Buenos Aires), the Director Jean Morel continues to negotiate with delegates from each of the territories and provinces that make up the Argentine State over the future constitution of the State, and the government structure. With the representatives from La Rivierre favoring a Unitarian structure and the provinces particularly Guarani (OTL North Santa Fe and Formosa region) are pushing for a confederation of loosely connected states. Jean is able to postpone talks given the current situation that Argentine faces with a belligerent Mapuche to the west, and a less then friendly Brésil just across the river. Negotiations with the land owners in the far north of the country are also underway to speed up a process of abolition of slavery. The Universite Nationale de la Rivierre is opened up as well as the first major university of the country. the Province of Plaines Argente (OTL Buenos Aires province) is pushed farther south by the militia in raids against hostile natives. Cottage industry around la Rivierre, Sante Marie (OTL Rosario de Santa Fe) continue to grow. Ranching and horse husbandry remain the largest activities of the new country, particularly on the frontiers which remain largely unenclosed lands. Many of the ranchers and settlers are also in the army as reservists or as militia trained for the most part for mobile warfare against the natives these men are known as Frontaliers and the settlements simply as reglements. The Frontaliers units number around 8500 strong, while the standard infantry units are 5000 strong, and stationed mainly along the Rivierre de Argente in fortifications built to protect against potential incursions by the Brésilian giant on the other side. Efforts to import more firearms and to produce them locally begin to supply the growing army. Efforts to begin building a navy are also made to patrol the Argente River. One particular Frotalier captain Henri de Forte proves an astute military commander leading several successful raids against Guarani natives in the Chaku Region (OTL Paraguay). An envoy is sent to Brésil with the intent of establishing normalized relations between the Argentine and the Brésilians that have been tense due to Brésilian efforts to exert influence over Argentine. Jean's envoy makes it explicitly clear that Argentine would be more then willing to be friends and trading partners with their brothers across the river, but that Argentine is an independent state, also requesting that Brésil agree to a renegotiation of the Paraguay region, which Argentine's desire the right to settle greatly given the lack of land for growing migrants, and given the threat posed by natives to the Argentine people living on the river.
    • Argentine Diplomacy: The General Directory sends a delegation to Mapuche to discuss a normalization of relations while another delegation is sent in secret to Peru in an effort to improve relations with Peru and to determine if an alliance might be established between both countries. Mod response, please. In the meantime, Europeans are invited to migrate to Argentine with the promise of a new start in the Argentine frontiers, and the prospects of becoming landowners as vast tracts of uncultivated land remain available for the taking albeit the expense of the natives (though this is never mentioned in the advertisements), or to get a new job in the growing cities along the Rivierre de Argente if the frontier life is not for them. Diplomatic missions to France, Burgundy, Britain, Belka, Russia, Iberia, and even the defeated German states are made in an effort to establish trade and diplomatic ties with Europe, and to attract military, and economic missions to help develop Argentine.
  • Scandinavia: With the War coming to an end, the Scandinavian King would like for Schleswig-Holstein to be ceded to the Kingdom. Along with this they would like reparations for the damages caused to Denmark during this war of aggression. In other news Sweden begins the slow track to industrialization one where the expansion of the heavy industries in directly invested in by the King Alexander. The King is attempting to move Scandinavia farther away from the affairs of mainland Europe, attempting to improve relations with Russia, while improving relations with the other powers specifically Burgundy. With this, however, they continue to expand in Acadia many new immigrants leave for Vinland while the King sets forth to create a new body to elect officials for the up coming constitution. The population has been ravaged as many who had lived in Denmark have moved to Sweden and Norway, and the lost territory of Finland. Scandinavia offers Russia a deal, that the Finnish people should have a right to decide their sovereignty and they should hold a referendum whether to join Scandinavia or stay with Russia. (Mod Response) If Russia is to accept this and Finland chooses to leave Russia, Scandinavia will reimburse the Russians 500,000 Zlotys. With this, Scandinavia having moved toward a new

    • Scandinavia is reminded that Denmark was not invaded by Germany until they declared war.
  • France: Following the Franco-Zayiyr War and the French victory, the Sultanate of Zayiyr is incorporated as a French colony, with Louis's brother Pierre taking over as King of Zayiyr and the Kongo. Following unexpected large casualties, another 20,000 troops are sent and the resources needed for mining are also sent. More later.
    • French Zayiyr: After executing the Sultan and the entire royal family, Pierre begins expanding his rule by, yes, enslaving a large number of the populace to begin mining the riches that are finally confirmed to be there. The main religion is Islam, which is expected to stay as the main religion. Although the main language is Arabic, French is taught as the main language in schools, with Arabic as a secondary language. More later.
    • Your algo is wrong by a large margin. Your region penalties weren't included which totally burn out your population comparison. -Feud
  • Belkan Federation: The Parisian congress continues with Belka discussing now the more particular things of the treaty. The home economy continues to grow as the many veterans begin to take up the industrial jobs. This further stimulates the economy as many roles held by the unable to fight, young or even women, are returned to nearly two million men which return from varying amounts of service. While Egypt remains somewhat concerning Arabia is the true current enemy to fight and three squadrons of ten ships, 15 ships, and 12 ships respectively begin to blockade the Arabian coast using superior tactics and naval technology to keep the Arabians bottled up at home (this is following the stalemated invasions of Belka and the non-attack in Ionia). The Vozdh Tito is re-elected in a landslide as his actions were instrumental in the destruction of Napoleon's rampaging armies and while there were heavy casualties, and an unusually large number of war dead, Belka has not suffered too much as it hasn't lost an entire generation of young men like what used to happen in wars in the Slavic states earlier history. Coincidentally, infrastructure built to help supply and regroup Belkan armies during the War of the Second Coalition are now massive trade arteries with even the early railroad systems beginning to gain some traction albeit with only one existing line, from the Belgrad Industrial works, to the City of Zadar in Croatia. The return of many women home is not really a coincidence. As a result of the return of the men many of the women are pregnant and expectant and a baby boom begins to occur which interestingly enough spurs many men to take up the higher paying industrial jobs. The first blow-back from the workers rights laws set down by Vozdh Tito sees many private business owners attempt to close their factories. However, with so many veterans crewing the factories, the Owners are forced to re-open in less than a week as thousands of armed Veterans backed up by Belkan regulars forcibly open the factories championing the "Workers' rights of Tito" which send shock waves throughout the countries industrial elite with many agreeing to re-open but secretly planning to corrupt the government or lobby to get the workers rights removed. However, lobbying to congress proves fruitful and one business owner proved to be attempting to nullify these rights via loopholes is publicly shot setting the example. "do not interfere with the workers, do not interfere with Industrial output".
  • Sicily: We continue to fortify and integrate the newly acquired territory into the nation, including Naples and other cities. Taking note of the congress in Paris, the government is angered that Britain demands "Italian states ... be aligned under the Papal States," and that the congress appears not to respect Sicily's borders. The king asks that a Sicilian delegation be allowed to attend the conference, or at the very least those terms be reworded or removed.
    • Belkan Dip: You invaded the papacy in a moment of weakness to usurp its territory and suzerainty of which it has rightly gained over much of Italy. Since Belka the other prime actor in Italian politics has agreed that the Papacy takes the mantle of the Italian sovereign state, Belka demands Sicily stand down and come to an accommodation with the pope.
    • Sicilian Dip: We did come to an accommodation, I said in my turn the governments sign a treaty recognizing that Sicily is returned its former territory. Also, that territory was rightly Sicilian for many centuries and only taken by the Papacy a few decades ago as far as I can tell.
  • Russia: Tsar Konstatin II reigns over the Russian Empire. The army generals are relieved for the end of the Napoleonic Wars and the tsar sends General Joseph Ivanovich Krukov to Paris for Russia. Out East in Arcadia, the St Gregory Colony expands into OTL Washington and British Columbia. The population of Novorossiya is around 40,000. With the Corporate dominance over the Colonies and RTK appointed Governors, the tsar decrees the Colonial Act which creates the Viceroyalty of Novorossiya and appoints Prince Vladimir Demidov as the Viceroy of Novorossiya.
  • Mehican Empire: Our scholars create the first dictionary for Maritimum Deniae, which is called Dictionarium De Deniae Maris. This dictionary is made so that the language of the The southern Dené can get standardized language which will aid their Education and the future translation of other Dené languages. General Geronimo also withdraws 30,000 of his 40,000 troops from the UK border seeing that this will not help our nation anymore and only cost it more. He does get replaced as Admiral Herberto Isac Mata Vaz or more commonly known as Herberto Vaz. The Federal Duma votes on a law which makes any expansion on the border of the Californian governate will not be granted to their state. This is to make no governate to big and allow Tejas and Novo Tejas to grow in size and for new states to come in existence.
    • In the Governate of Gran Panama, the Mehican emperor appoints Atílio Duarte de Alcantara, a mestiço, to serve as the inaugural Governor of the region. Duarte then dissolves the original Duma that had been governing prior to his appointment, angering many of the representatives. Instead, he appoints loyal followers of the Mehican crown to the new Duma. Expansion continues, and Duarte expresses his outrage over the Brésilian expansion into lands claimed by Gran Panama. Meanwhile, Miguel Braganza, the youngest son of the ousted Iberian king who was deposed by the Bread Revolution, arrives in the port town of Cartagena. He begins to organize a group of criollos and peninsulares to oppose the Mehican state. For now, this remains highly secretive, but the cabal is slowly gaining influence.
  • Brésil: soon ...
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland: It's good news that the war with Napoleon is finally over. A lot of troops and ships are shifted to fighting in Arabia while peace is offered to the Kingdom of Arabia-Persia in exchange for Aden and Perim Island to be given to the British. Work is made on the Congress of Paris and Napoleon has now arrived at the Isle of Man and governs the island. With the war over demobilisation begins to occur as soldiers return home with trading resuming. Birth rates grow dramatically. Industrialisation is now hard at work as the population grows as does the technology with more railways and factories. Parliament helps fund the growth of industry by lowering taxes as much as it can on business. England has 10.5 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.8 million, Wales has 0.8 million, Ireland has 0.6 million people and Scotland 1.8 million. Michael Faraday discovers electromagnetic rotation. Stockton and Darlington Railway is authorised by the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Henry Robinson Palmer patents a monorail system in England. The King accepts the Brésilian offer and sends his daughter Anne to marry the Crown prince. Veterans of the war in Germany are sent to Brésil to assist them in the construction of a new military force by teaching them the latest tactics.
    • East India Company: Some forces of the EIC continue to operate in the Indian Ocean fighting the Arabians. Everything else in the company is going well. Trade of goods continue with Britain.
    • Kingdom of Avalon and Iroquois: The Kingdom of Iroquois expands 50 px west from Henry's land into OTL Kentucky and Ohio. Migration of those struggling due to industrialisation continues. There is an exploding amount of population with immigration, high birth rates and vast amounts of undiscovered land. The population of Avalon is 1.3 million and Iroquois has 3.2 million.
  • Egypt: With the war finally over, the soldiers and veterans of the war return to a ravaged Egypt, a nation once of glory now reduced to poverty, rebellion and anarchy. The Royal Army, itself, controlling small enclaves of Lower Egypt, while the rest is either controlled by a loose alliance of Governors and local tribal leaders or the invading Ethiopians. In turn, a scapegoat is found: Queen Fawzia and it is immediately agreed that she deposed. The Rasheed (Rossetta) Mutiny, named as such due to the mutiny beginning there, occurs in which virtually the entire military declares open revolt in one of the largest revolts in Human history. Within months, all but the cities of Luxor and Ismail are under Loyalist control, by that point Fawzia had arrived in the Isle of Man. (MORE LATER)
  • Kingdom of Savannah: Following the wars that have struck Europe, we begin to further our expansions as always by another 50 px. New London Conferences are held and Adam Lee after having a bit of a stall in delivering his papers and ideas to present to the parliament is done. He agrees that it is also best to send the men back across the Mehica-Arcadia border as well. Propaganda and so forth of unification of the Arcadian States continues for the English men and women and other European peoples of our beautiful homelands. Representatives are sent to Britain to speak about these ideals as well. In the meantime, an Italian translator and several diplomats are sent to Mehico to speak with the leader of the nation. Large amounts of people head west to bountiful lands to produce cash crops and grain in OTL Great Plains. We continue to use our military budget to produce a strong navy and to also create a self-sustainable state under the crown. Militias spread further around the regions and new towns are continuing to be built. With the help of new immigration reforms, thousands of immigrants flood into our nation from Europe and so forth. Factories are continuing to be expanded across more urban zones to create industrialized cities and such as well continuing to create a booming economy. We continue to hold onto our southern charm.
  • Hawaii: The nation continues expanding across the Pacific, trading and settling our various conquered or colonized possessions, especially Tonga, and other islands in the far southwest. Expansion of infrastructure within the Hawaiian Islands proper continue with many cities, such as Honolulu, having been transformed into European-style urban centers. A similar process takes root slowly in more heavily settled colonies of the kingdom, such as in Tonga, where the government has already completed forts and shipyards for the purpose of garrisoning the islands. Other settlements in Polynesia, such as Papeete, see similar development. The navy continues being expanded in order to ensure control over the vast territories of the kingdom, with many more modern ships entering service. The king, and a large entourage of friends and chiefs, decides to tour Laurentia/Arcadia, visiting Gran Panama, the Mehican Empire, and many of the colonies on the eastern seaboard. While traveling in Savanna the king experiences racism firsthand for his darker appearance, leading to an embarrassing and perplexing experience, and also a less favorable opinion of the Arcadians.
  • Swahili: We continue colonial expansion in Northern Somalia, in the South and in the Malindi and Mombassa area. Colonisation steadily increases as medicine and weaponry become more widespread. Industrialisation begins in the North following the adoption of more tools and mechanical technology, as well as higher wages for workers due to the population loss in the civil war. Meanwhile, the post-war baby boom continues. Mass production of new model ships-of-the-line are undertaken and the two major fleets are sent to Sefuwa and South West Atlantic, with a contingent of 10,000 elite marines. We request the colonies of Olungu and other Kongo colonies to be returned to Swahili by Iberia or the fleets will take all actions necessary. Secretly, we contact France, United Kingdom and Belka, assuring them of most favourable rate at these ports in exchange for non-intervention and tacit support.
    • Sefuwa: The colony of Sefuwa continues development.
    • Huriya: Political integration begins with Swahili bureaucrats being sent to oversee some political processes.
    • Rowzi: Political integration begins with Swahili bureaucrats being sent to oversee some political processes.
    • Swahili Diplomacy: We propose the Arab-Indian Pact with our allies of Bengal and Dravidia.

1822Edit

Napoleon escapes from Man in the dead of night and arrives in Germany. People are surprised to see him and his most loyal soldiers return to him immediately. He marches on Frankfurt with a token force and forces the Council to acknowledge him as emperor once more. With the Rhineland now in his control again, his men return to him. He writes to the coalition powers asking them to give him control over the wartime borders of Germany, including Austria but excluding Prussia. The coalition powers promptly tell him to shove it and march as one giant army from Paris, meeting him at the Rhine. Napoleon has only brought a small force which the coalition army believes they have defeated. However, they have been tricked, as the greater part of Napoleon's army evaded coalition scouts to cross the Rhine farther south and take the coalition army in the rear. Although Napoleon appears to have won the day miraculously once again, his reserves collapse when their leader, his strong right hand Marshal Kohl, is killed, leading to a rout. Napoleon escapes with the remains of his army and decides to quit once and for all. Upon returning to Frankfurt and reinstating the Council once again, he advises them to create a democratic nation before departing to surrender himself. Napoleon's return lasted 111 days.

His son, the Prince Napoleon, came to join in the fighting, but was too late and missed the battle. The Council rejects his offer to take up the crown and he departs Germany in anger.

  • United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland: It's good news that the war with Napoleon is finally over again. A lot of troops and ships are shifted to fighting in Arabia while peace is offered to the Kingdom of Arabia-Persia in exchange for Aden and Perim Island to be given to the British. Work is made on the Congress of Paris  and this time Napoleon is sent all the way to India into the hands of the EIC far away where he has no power but a lifestyle fitting to his rank. Veterans of the war in Germany are sent to Brésil to assist them in the construction of a new military force by teaching them the latest tactics. Charles Babbage publishes a proposal for a "difference engine", a mechanical forerunner of the modern computer for calculating logarithms and trigonometric functions.
    • East India Company: Some forces of the EIC continue to operate in the Indian Ocean fighting the Arabians. Everything else in the company is going well. Trade of goods continue with Britain. Tensions rise with Bengal as the war in Europe is over and expansionists thoughts are made.
  • In the Governate of Gran Panama, Atílio Duarte de Alcantara continues to rule over the region with little official opposition. Having appointed pro-Mehican nobles to the Duma, Duarte's position is quite secure for the time being. He orders continued expansion into the Gran Panamanian claim lines, and focuses elsewhere upon enriching himself through a corrupt administration of the state. Miguel Braganza, an Iberian prince, continues to build a coalition of anti-Mehican men, primarily criollos and peninsulares. Braganza and his followers envision a free state modeled after a more democratic version of the Iberian territory of New Granada. Toward the end of the year, Braganza publishes the "Sentimentos do Homem no Novo Mundo," laying out his vision of governance. In the Sentimentos, Braganza outlines a constitutional monarchy whose power rests with a natural aristocracy. The son of a deposed king, Miguel Braganza shows that he is appalled by violence in his work, but it still catches the eyes of a capricious governor, Atílio Duarte. Duarte orders the arrest of Braganza, but his marshal assigned to make the arrest is a member of Braganza grouping. Braganza, tipped off as to the plans, flees through the jungle to Brésil. The marshal fakes the death of Miguel Braganza, but rumors of his escape are hard to contain. Infuriated, Duarte orders restrictions on the freedom of the press and freedom of assembly at the end of the year.
    • Mehican Imperial Diplomacy: The Emperor and the Imperial Duma condemn the actions of Duarte and we declare his rule illegal and take over of Mehican control. And we demand that Braganza will get apologised by him and that Miguel will even be invited to meet the emperor. The emperor also demands the restrictions to any restrictions of press and assembly.
    • British Dip: The British advisers learn of Braganza and his men's arrival in Brésil so they quietly and secretly meet with him and provide him and his men arms and training.
    • Brésilian Dip: Hearing of the growing instability across the border the new government offers to mediate between the different parties involved.
  • Brésil: As tensions rise in the Paraguay and Chaku region with Argentine moving into the region with some forces, The Grande Assemble authorize the mobilization of 5000 troops to help secure the Chaku region. St Denis also issues a mission to La Rivierre to pressure the government of Argentine to respect the treaty of Normand and to withdraw from the Chaku region. Development of cotton plantations also begins in the Rivierre de Sud Province (OTL Uruguay, and Rio Grande del Sul) as the lands are deemed appropriate for its development other settlers look to the Paraguay region with interest as well. Due to the highly volatile situation in the Chaku region the St Denis issues the Frontiers act. copying the model of their Argentine rivals, the Frontalier units are created out of recent settlers who desire to gain land at a cheaper price both in the amazon and in the Chaku region. However, as opposed to the Argentine these units form irregular units of reservists that act in conjunction with the Brésilian army but acting under local initiative separate of military command. The government also makes efforts to further expand their settlement efforts of the amazon region and of the Gros Buisson (Mato Grosso) with new migrants from Europe. Much of the settlements that are established specially in the south begin developing into Ranching, and farming communities along with coffee production around the city of Port Royal a relatively new settlement on around the area of Rio de Janeiro. British military advisors are used to modernize and train the the Brésil military along European line employing the lessons learned from the Napoleonic war. Emperor Alexandre feeling sympathy for the Bonapartes, invites the family - now social pariahs in Europe - to retire to Brésil and  live in the growing empire (mod response, please. Scraw said I could get Karl potentially). The Emperor and Grande Assemble look with interest at the growing railways systems of Europe and send out delegations to Britain, and Belka with the intent of securing assistance in construction of a railways system across Brésil to help unite the country and assist with the settlement and economic development of Brésil. Military expansion begins as the forces are raised to 25,000 between 15,000 active members and 10,000 reservists. This does not include the planned 5000 to 10,000 frontaliers through the planned militia system for the settlement of the frontiers. Braganza and his supporters are welcomed to Brésil by the emperor and by members of the Brésilian military.
  • Russia: Colonial expansion into British Columbia continues. The Alyeskan viceroy sends an emissary to Mehico to propose the Treaty of St Gregory to set a boundary line for Russian expansion south, and Mehican expansion north. More later.
  • Mehican Empire: The National Mehican Bank (Banco Nacional Mehicano) is founded as the only bank in The entire nation that is allowed to coin money and if needed make IOU's. All other banks can lend money and do business. Our advisors also now found the "Imperial bureau of weights and measurements" [Escritório Imperial de Pesos e Medidas] (EIPM) this is done so all weights get standardized so that internal and foreign trade is easier and more manageable. Pino seeing the tension on the continent also cuts all ties he had with any British Arcadian movements . Our government also calls back the last remaining soldiers in their lands. And they leave at the border a bottle of old rum. The imperial Duma also begin talks about how to get people into the governmental Duma and the laws of the governor himself. This is done to make it less abusable. This will also make it more representative. The Federalist party even with hating the current Duma and the empire do support these ideas fully. But they do urge for a constitution to come with these laws. The newly created General Naming Convention ["Convenção Geral de Nomeação"] (CGN) petitions the government to return to the old naming standards of regions by their Iberian naming. Our emperor officially recognises the Salish state as his beloved brotherly state with the greatest wonders outside Mehico itself. The Salish are temini tlajtokayotl brother to country or better translated as brotherly state. The emperor also ask other nations to recognise them as well. Our diplomats to the Kingdom of Hawaii tell that the Mehicans want to join the Pan-Polynesian games if hoopball is allowed. Our Imperial Duma also signs a new law were any immigrant who moves to the Mehican frontier and can farm the lands for five year, will own the land they have farmed and with it they gain citizenship. There is also a motto made with this bill "Veni ad nostrum limitem et partum vestri novus Imperium" and under the motto a Roman imperial eagle with under it the text "Vieni alla nostra frontiera e crea il tuo nuovo stato imperiale". The emperor also makes a speech about this bill with "Io sono come te, entrambi figli dell'impero" this meaning "I am just like you, both sons of the empire". The emperor with this bill also makes Italian an official language of the empire.
    • Nonsense. -s
  • Egypt: Muhammed Ali, Sultan of Egypt, Emir of Kush and Benghazi, begins his first year ruling over Egypt, establishing the Mus'od Dynasty across Lower and Upper Egypt and the Kush (Sudan). The nation he inherits, however, has lived through its days of glory and is in a poor state, requiring a great statesman like himself. Despite claiming to rule over Egypt and Kush (Sudan), in reality the Sultanate only truly consolidating power over Egypt proper. Knowing a military solution would be costly, Muhammed Ali calls upon the people of Kush to rise up and revolt over their Ethiopian oppressors. In the same proclamation, he calls upon the Caliph to declare a jihad or any feasible option to help liberate the Arab populations there henceforth. (MOD RESPONSE). The failed military campaigns in Greece and Ethiopia remain at the front of the population's troubled minds, and so it is resolved the military must be reorganised and reconstructed. The issue of the military is one Muhammed Ali takes a particular emphasis on due to his former command of the armed forces. A strict series of requirements are placed upon the military and units that do not fit the criteria are disbanded to be retrained. As such only the most able regiments remain. The new model military bases itself on the military of Arabia-Persia, with much of the technology and army designation imported from the Arabians. Unlike that of the Abbasids and Rashidun preceding it, the Navy is placed as a high priority of the state and a modern Navy is commissioned by direct orders of the Sultan in Alexandria. The Navy is to be split primarily into three fleets: the Nile fleet (based on the ports of the Nile, to protect commerce and trading across the Nile), the Red Sea Fleet (based in the Port of Ghalib, to protect Egyptian interests in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean, militarily and in commerce) and the Mediterranean Fleet (based in Alexandria and Tobrouq,). An envoy is sent to Belka for peace negotiations in the City of Hekrapokilis.
    • The people do this because Ethiopia is weak and garbage and they don't like them. -s
    • Ethiopia Dip: We are open to talks about peace as this war has gone on long enough.
In Brésil the current ambassador, Antoine Ribault, retires and Lui-Anakoni Kamāʻuleʻule, son of Pier Kamaile II, Chief of Viti Levu, and brother of the Minister of War Charles Kekūāiwa, is appointed by Kamehameha V. The government states it will offer refuge for any members of the Bonaparte family, after the king is petitioned by Jacopo Bonaparte, a Hawaiian national and resident via his membership in the House of Véron through his mother. This is in addition to the already standing law that any descendant of Véron or his contingent shall be offered Hawaiian citizenship and honors within the kingdom. The king's first cousin, Charles René Lunalilo, while vacationing in the Mehican Empire (in southern California) with friends, fascinates the locals by demonstrating the Hawaiian sport of surfing. The attention this receives causes the sport to travel outside the islands for the first time, and also inspires the king to announce a pan-Polynesian games based on the ancient Olympics, featuring popular local games that have been structured with new centralized rules.
  • Salish Nation: Our new leader, Ivan Suiattle, orders a new census. Our population is now 3.5 million. Ivan has ambitious plans, and assembles a cabinet to get it through. In charge of the army and navy is Vladimir Vasiliev, who quickly increases quality in the forces. Smithing seems to now be a large industry, and logging rapidly expands. Timber is shipped to Mehico, bringing a much needed trade surplus. Roads are built, and Dwuamish, Tacoma, and Yakima are booming. In a week-long campaign, the city-state of Walla Walla is subjugated, being annexed after a month-long occupation. A punitive expedition is conducted into Nez Perce land, which is soon followed by Vassilization. Ivan also makes the Grand Declaration, which defines our borders as "Stretching from the great waters of Pacific, to the lands of the Nez Perce, and from the lands of Haida to the lands of Mehico". It also uses thinly veiled language to describe the desire to expel foreigners from these said lands. Salish also sends out Diplomats to Mehico, requesting passage to different European countries, seeking out diplomatic relations with them. (Secret) We also request aid from Mehico in our upcoming campaign against Russia (End Secret).
  • France: The war against the Sultanate of Zayiyr continues (Algo will be worked on shortly and adjusted/fixed). Military campaigns are expected to continue in the following years. However, Louis sees these as necessary as a means of being able to secure the riches within the Kongolese region. The Inner Circle, finally being organized and properly armed, become the unknown but relatively heard about secret police of France ordered by King Louis as a means of sweeping political opposition "under the rug". Although the disappearances of key members of the National Assembly are reported, many of the bodies are placed and "found" around the entire French countryside. Many of the bodies are treated as murders, and thus petty criminals are placed as murderers as a means of covering these up. In other news, sweeping reforms occur, with encouragement, such as tax cuts, being made for ethnic French people to reproduce and grow the population. Many of the previous alliances are executed, and a new alliance is proposed between the Kingdom of Iberia and the Kingdom of Sicily (Mod).
    • Sicily: We accept the alliance offer.
  • Sicily: We accept the alliance offer from France, and also extend an offer to Iberia to create an alliance as well (player/mod response). The area that was granted to us by the treaty we made with the Papal States continues to be garrisoned and connected to our nation's infrastructure. Forts are remanned or constructed around Naples and other important cities and places along the border. We reiterate that we do not want conflict any more and hope to maintain positive relations with "prime actor" Belka.
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: Sailors operating for Burgundy land at OTL Richmond, New Zealand after being blown off course. Claiming the land for Burgundy, they name it New Zeeland. With the end of the Napoleonic wars, Burgundy begins its efforts at recovering. Reforms to the army are made based on lessons learned. Some express doubts about the loyalty of Willem vun Bonapaart, the current Graf Bonapaart, and his family, but seeing their efforts for the war most concerns are dismissed.
  • Cologne: This year has been incredibly stressful for Archbishop Garrick. The Council has been shaken extensively by what Garrick sees as the final death-spasms of Napoleon, the final wars, and the final people killed. These final wars, of Germany’s Great Dictator and his Terrible Reign, have sent the once-great Rhineland into the ground. Kolsch people in particular are incensed, and Archbishop Garrick senses their pain. Therefore, he is particularly active in Council meetings, making it clear that the people of Cologne, and particularly the Kolsch administration through the University of Cologne, has the most experience in running this country – both spiritually and generally for the better welfare of all Germans. In the wake of such a monster’s rule, Archbishop Garrick is able to lead the Council to making good decisions about the democratic structure of the German nation. (This involves the restoration of the judicial arm of the system in Bonn, noticeably.) All the while, he continues to campaign for Cologne (and Essen)’s independence for religious freedom and the good welfare of all German peoples.
    • Essen: Abbess Yslana was quiet last time Napoleon seemed to be defeated; this time, she is even more quiet, and some Essenian commentators start noticing. She ignores them, however, and carries on with the educating of the next generation about the failures of Napoleon and what can be learned from his rule. Both the mines and hospitals have started to run properly again. Meanwhile, the Adelphinian Canonesses in both Tondo and New Germany continue to operate quietly, efficiently and reliably.
  • Papal States: The Hundred Days campaign against Napoleon takes much of the Papal elites by surprise, and there is widespread panic that the German army will once more threaten Rome. However, his quick defeat by the coalition and the resumption of talks in Paris calms everyone down. The Papal nuncio to the Congress of Paris makes the pope's wishes known, and agrees with the points raised by the Great Powers. Missions continue.
  • Ethiopian Empire: Dawitt urges the army not to act with violence but kindness to the revolting people of Sudan. In response to this the front is fortified more and troops are ordered not to engage Egyptians unless necessary. However, 50,000 trained troops are sent forward to the front. Everyone in Sudan is now treated as a citizen of Ethiopia with the full benefits. More churches and schools are built to allow the people of Sudan better education practices. The postal system for the Empire is started and sees good first initial results. Farming from the south provides great amounts of food for the growing cities. The first factory is set up along the Blue Nile to refine coffee, while more are opened for different resources.

1823Edit

Ethiopian generals in the occupied Sudan reject the emperor's orders and begin a harsh crackdown on the rebellious people. Furthermore, the length of the war and the emperor's policies in Sudan are leading Ethiopia toward bankruptcy, especially since trade in the region has been heavily disrupted by the instability in Egypt and war in Arabia.

Arabia accepts the British deal.

The Revolutionary State of Savoy collapses with the final end of Napoleonic Germany. Chaos engulfs Savoy as many different factions vie for power.

Napoleon escapes the British in India once again, not to return to Germany, but to travel the world. He ventures high into the Himalayas and visits the Tibetan people.

Local government in New Netherland raises tariffs very high to economic concerns. This makes traders and merchants very angry as their business suffers because of it.

  • France: With the military campaigns in Zayiyr becoming a success after occupation of the coast, King Louis funds the campaigns further, as another 3000 troops and ten naval battleships are sent as the French Colonial Army begins to move up and possibly siege the capital of M'Banza and effectively overthrow the Sultan's political power in the region. A population consensus concludes that the population is roughly 24.5 million, with the population slowly rising. The reforms meant to bring national revival to France continue, with the Inner Circle continuing to execute political opposition and spread propaganda that slanders nations that currently hold political "grudges" toward France. The military resides at a peacetime of 120,000 able-bodied men aged 18-25 soldiers divided into 12 divisions. King Louis offers his hand in support for the Savoy government, offering them a French intervention and possibly ending the civil war for them if they agree to return to their statehood in the Kingdom of France (Scraw). In addition, military forts are built along the French-Savoy border, as a means of not allowing any possible spread of the civil unrest from Savoy into France. King Louis sends a letter to Great Britain requesting for the trading of the French Bahama Islands excluding Andros for OTL São Tomé and Príncipe (Player Response Needed). A similar offer is offered to Iberia, with the French Bahama Island of Andros being offered for OTL Bioko Island. (Scraw). A deal is offered to Belka, in which King Louis offers to purchase the Karpathos Island for whatever 13 million USD is in Belkan Rubles. (Feud). Industrialization continues as more coal mines and factories are opened and unemployment decreases.
    • French Indonesia: What is the population of this? (Mod)
    • The constitutional monarchy elements in Savoy welcome an occupation but most other factions do not respond. Iberia turns down the offer. -s
    • Belkan Dip: We reject the French offer stating out official position that we do not sell any of our sovereign territory, much less territory we have held for centuries.
  • Mehican Empire: We continue our posters promoting Italians to come over to our frontier and expand the empire. There are even posters printed and written to the Italians with the text "E tu?" asking Italians why not move here if you can get all the land you can farm. This is done to attract the most amount of Italians as possible. Our diplomats to the Salish also ask them if they can set up a treaty for any alliance with them (Salish response) and our diplomats to Hawaii ask if they want to join it, too, if it is made. Our administrators also come with the "Dictionarium vexillum Guadalaiarae in Aztecorum" Dictionary of standard Guadalajaran Aztec. This is done to standardise all Nahuatl. The General Naming Convention gets its will. The governates are getting renamed Guatemala becomes the governate of Maiam, Maiam becomes the governate of Novo Galiza, Tejas becomes the governate of Nova Leão, Nova Tejas becomes the Governate of Mêcicipi, California will become the governate of De Deniae Maris, Baricano will keep it original name as its name is original to it. The Royal and National Motto are changed to " No Messico senza nostro imperatore " (No Mehico without our emperor). This is to show that Mehico has no fear and will never fall so long it has a Diltwa living. Our Tlahtoāni sets the whole army into readiness on the Honduran and Panamanian border. The army at the moment exists of 20,000 on the Panamanian border and 40,000 soldiers on the Honduran border. Our army asks the Savanahns to come to our aid and rebel from the British imperialist yoke. (Savanah response). Our Emperor and General Geronimo hold a speech when meeting new recruits the speech goes "Voi soldati dell'impero date al cane imperialista nulla brucia le terre uccidono la gente avvelena l'acqua, ma mai capitolate"
    • British Dip: Why? This is an act of war encouraging rebellion against the King. We did nothing. The British government declares itself to be in a state of war with Mehico although the Kingdoms of Avalon, Iroquois and Savannah are under no obligation to declare. Mehico is encouraging sedition for no reason.
    • Mehican Diplomacy: Our diplomats inform us that our army saw the army on the Honduran border as a danger for the nation and that the Mehican Empire will never surrender so long as an imperial is alive on the earth.
Secretly, we contact France, United Kingdom and Belka, assuring them of most favourable rate at these ports in exchange for non-intervention and tacit support. With no reply from Iberia, we fire upon the ports and violently seizes the colonies. A military port is constructed in Sefuwa and Olungu as bases for Atlantic operations. A Swahili merchant in the Indian Ocean offers Napoleon to come teach at the Swahili Military Academy.
    • Sefuwa: The colony of Sefuwa continues development.
    • Huriya: Political integration begins with Swahili bureaucrats being sent to oversee some political processes.
    • Rowzi: Political integration begins with Swahili bureaucrats being sent to oversee some political processes.
    • Swahili Diplomacy: We offer preferential trade deals with Ethiopia over coffee and gold.
    • French Diplomacy: King Louis, wanting to buy the Socotra Island, offers The Swahili Sultanate whatever ten million USD is in their currency for the island.
    • Ethiopian Dip: We agree to the deal.
    • Swahili Diplomacy to France: We are willing to offer a sizable trade quarter on Socotra Island for lease, similar to the Pemba Island trade quarters, in exchange for a lower price of five million USD and French approval and support for the Swahili seizure of Iberian South West African colonies.
  • Ethiopian Empire: Dawitt is livid, he sacks every general in charge of forces in the Sudan expect for Yonas Abel. Not only that he apologizes to Egypt and withdraw all troops from Sudan. He offers to pay compensation for the families of those affect by the war. Dawitt ends mobilization and allows the nation to return to its normal running hoping to stabilize the economy. The generals are held on trial for insubordination and crimes to civilians. The factories soon become government sponsored as does the metal working industry. We continue to push for the education of the masses by establishing more church schools and new farms. A young cast of sergeants from the royal guard are sent to Europe to continue the mold that Dawitt thought was good leadership.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland: Goodbye Napoleon. Seeing issue in Arcadia rising and with all the wars over and what not 40,000 troops are reassigned with peace in the old world to British Honduras and British Haiti to be backed up by 70 ships. They construct barracks and such on the island. While recruitment comes to a halt not everyone is simply discharged from the army both to keep unemployment rates low and aware Napoleon is on the loose somewhere. Growing number of railways as investors seem them more attractive business than canals potentially but it is still early days. Aden and Perim Island are garrisoned and now make up part of the way to India. Birth rates grow dramatically. Industrialisation is now hard at work as the population grows as does the technology with more railways and factories. Parliament helps fund the growth of industry by lowering taxes as much as it can on business. England has 10.8 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.8 million, Wales has 0.8 million, Ireland has 0.6 million people and Scotland 1.8 million. Veterans of the war in Germany are sent to Brésil to assist them in the construction of a new military force by teaching them the latest tactics. English inventor Samuel Brown obtains his first patent for a hydrogen-fueled compressionless atmospheric gas vacuum engine, the first internal combustion engine to be applied industrially. Robert Stephenson, his father George Stephenson, Edward Pease and Michael Longridge form Robert Stephenson and Company in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, to build steam locomotives. James Weddell's expedition to Antarctica reaches latitude 74°15' S and longitude 34°16'45" W. After repeated acts of interference and aggression Parliament votes to declare a state of war with Mehico. The 40,000 troops stationed in British Honduras and Haiti are moved to perform landings at Heroica Veracruz leaving 10,000 there and then move inland to seize Tenochtitlán and hold the city with 20,000 while 10,000 men compose a flying column to seize Guadalajara. An additional 50 ships are dispatched from their basing in British Arcadia and another 30 are sent from Britain to join up with the 70 already there.
    • East India Company: Some forces of the EIC continue to operate in the Indian Ocean fighting the Arabians. Everything else in the company is going well. Trade of goods continue with Britain. Tensions rise with Bengal as the war in Europe is over and expansionists thoughts are made.

  • In Gran Panama, the Governor Atílio Duarte de Alcantara continues to rule over the governate due to his unchecked power. He delays the requests of the Mehican Emperor and the Imperial Duma, insisting upon the importance of minor curtailments of the freedoms of speech and assembly. The rumors of Miguel Braganza's survival continue to inspire the popular imagination, and in his absence, his group of supporters - led by the marshal who feigned his death, Teobaldo Candezón - continues to expand. Meanwhile, in Brésil, Braganza amasses a sizeable army (including British advisors), and marches through Brésilian lands into Gran Panama. The rumors only intensify, as do Candezón's plans. Duarte, convinced to find out if the rumors of an army marching through his governate are true or not, leaves Bogotá with Candezón covering his left flank - facing the mountains of the Eastern Ranges. To the south of Bogotá, near Villavicencio, Duarte's forces meet those of Braganza. As they are about to do battle, Candezón turns on Duarte, leaving him pinned between the mountains to his northwest, Candezón to his northeast, and Braganza's forces to the south. The situation is only made worse when Braganza raises the flag of his house and of New Granada, at which time the criollos in Duarte's army also turn on their commander. With minimal loss of life, Duarte and his most loyal troops are captured. Miguel Braganza proceeds to enter Bogotá, and is then crowned by the Archbishop of Bogotá as the rightful King of New Granada. Braganza rallies his forces, which now include the defeated Gran Panamanian army, and marches north to Medellín, followed by a march to Turbo, which was transferred to the Mehicans. There, King Miguel I's forces fight the Mehican border guards, pushing them back to Darien. In another battle, the King's men restore possession over the isthmus and all former novagranadino lands.
    • Brésil Dip: Brésilian forces are mobilized to support the nascent Braganza movement against their geopolitical rival Mehico. Bringing 15,000 troops to arms, the Imperial Army is sent across the border with Panama in support of Braganza, but under the command of Brésilian officers. Diplomatic recognition is given to Braganza as the de facto successor to the Republic of New Granada that was annexed under duress by the Mehican Empire.
    • Mehican Empire: We recognise Braganza and Gran Panamanian independence and General Geronimo even sends 10,000 troops to Braganza to aid his troops and he even sets the troops under command of Braganza himself, since we had never any support for Duarte and his deeds. So we request Braganza come to the negotiation table and talk about a peace deal. (OOC Governates don't have an army, Medellin wasn't transferred and Duarte had no power. It was removed a year ago. OOC)
    • New Grandian Response: The Mehican troops are disarmed and held captive, sent on a deadly march through the jungle to Brésil. General Geronimo is notably kept alive but is under constant surveillance and well-guarded.
    • OOC Falcon: How does one disarm an entire army? I see no algo, I doubt a commander would comply with such.
    • OOC Person: He put them clearly under the command of Braganza. Then he can't complain when his men are given orders they don't like.
    • OOC: How can General Geronimo be captured if he was not on the front, but being in Guadalajara?
    • OOC Rex: My bad. Geronimo is still free. I took that bit out of my post.
  • Sicily: We continue to fortify, occupy and otherwise connect Naples and the other recently acquired territory into the rest of the nation. The nation continues to be on alert with troops being drilled, although the recent defeat of Napoleon and the seemingly quelling of tensions in Europe causes the nation to relax. With an alliance having been made with France we initiate trade with them heavily, as well as other powers of the Med. in order to ensure good relations.
    • What did you acquire? There is literally no way you beat the Papal State combined with the Belkan soldiers that were there when you invaded. -Feud
    • How are you allowed to just cross out a war outcome you dislike despite there having been a valid algorithm done? There was a treaty a few turns ago and already done, and also, I don't see you as being the most neutral in this situation.
    • What treaty is this? Did I, the Papal States player, sign it? ~Cal
    • At the time I didn't know that the Papal States had a player because I think you weren't posting as often, and I was under the impression that if your algo is done and correct, you can essentially state you make a treaty in your turn and just sort of impose your will if it's plausible enough. I know what you're saying that wars should have an actual treaty page sometimes, but I noticed that most wars don't and if it's just a simple war against what I thought was an NPC, I thought it was acceptable to just state it in my turn and have a mod approve/deny it or not, and so I did so.

What's it matter, anyway? I just want my former territory for what little time Sicily exists. I figure we'll be united into Italy soon anyway.

  • Brésil: Following the rapid developments in Europe the conflict in Panama and the rapid escalation and insanity of the Mehican monarch, Emperor Alexandre at the behest of the Grande Assemble declares war on Mehicp, and sends another 10,000 troops into Panama to help with the war effort against the tyrant native monarchy.. The forces are under the command of General Henri de Conde, a relatively young general from Rivierre de Comte who has been taken into the confidence of the royal family and the Grande Assemble. He moves his forces in conjunction with those of Braganza's force's to the west of the OTL Darien Gap to cut off the beleaguered Mehican troops, orders are to engage only when a clear victory will be ensured given the tropical conditions of the isthmus. With 15,000 troops advancing in the front guard alongside their Panamanian allies, and another 10,000 covering the rear guard from potential guerrillas and for clean up of straggling Mehican forces. The army is expanded greatly due to the needs of the frontier of Brésilian society. The Frontalier militia now numbering 13,000 continues to expand deeper into the Amazon and pushing into the Grande Chaku, and Gros Buisson regions. Due to the growing importance of Rivierre de Comte (OTL Rio) for both commerce and settlement the city is granted special tax exemptions to facilitate its growth. Elections take place this year with a coalition of Traditionales winning all but a few seats in the Grande Assemble with the remaining six or seven seats being secured by independents. The wedding of the princess of Britain to the crown prince is a magnificent event though it is overshadowed by the conflict raging on in Northern Laurentia. Economic development continues in Brésil, particularly in the south of the country in the provinces of Rivierre de Sud and around Rivierre de Comte which experience most of the immigration boom due to their temperate rather then tropical climates. more settlers still go farther inland to the Gros Buisson and Chaku region due to the government's subsidized settlement program based on the creation of militia settlements (copied from the Argentines but on a larger scale due to the bigger population of Brésil). These Frontalier settlements are designed to secure the frontiers rapidly and to help with the development of the land. Most of these settlements develop around the production of cotton, and ranching both economic activities which prove highly lucrative as more lands are cleared for settlement. German and French Brésilians mingle together a lot more now in these regions as their settlements grow close together. Massive government funding goes toward building roads into the interior and into hiring engineers from Europe to help develop the roads and infrastructure of Brésil. German's special status within Brésilian culture and society is reaffirmed in the hopes of drawing on the German immigrants that will surely leave Europe after the dreams of a United Empire were tossed asunder. The young crown prince, an admirer of Napoleon, is joyous upon hearing of his fleeing from India and in a secret envoy offers the Great General a place of refuge and rest in Brésil without informing his father or members of the Grande Assemble. He also invites the family of Napoleon to come as well. Naval expansion begins with a particular interest in procuring steamships. The Grande Assemble makes an inquiry to their British allies about the possibility of purchasing a few of these ships for both defence and navigation of the river ways of Brésil. The Institute Imperial is expanded greatly and more funding goes toward institutions of higher learning such as the Universite de Comte, and the Universite de St Denis in the hopes of growing the middle class and Brésil's pool of professionals or skilled labour. Cottage industries continue to grop up mainly in the south and in Comte due to the expansion of cotton production which allows for small cottage textile industry to start developing in larger urban centres across the south of the country. Efforts to improve Brésil's standards of education, particularly in the areas of engineering, chemistry, medicine and the social sciences are made with the emperor and his son taking it upon themselves as a personal mission to bring enlightenment and civilization to every corner of Laurentia.
  • Belkan Federation: While Europe has ostensibly calmed, the Belkan Federation alarmed by Sicilian posturing (and its previous declaration of war) sends an ultimatum. Sicily is to refrain further war with the Papal State who has the full support of Belka in its previously declared war against said Papal State. It will end all hostilities. With the end of the third coalition so quickly surprising the many people in the coalition, the Vozdh has retained military prowess on the continent in favor of Belkan prestige. The amount of manpower now home and having had families, and the stability of the new industrial workplace and now new infrastructure jobs, contributes heavily to a Belkan industrial revolution with the population this year cresting 28 million with the industrial revolution beginning to take off farther and farther. While some of the tech is more primitive to its British counterparts, the larger scale usage actually helps as production of textiles, large production of iron, attempts to produce steel on a larger scale, and various other projects which tie into industrialization bring out a huge surplus in goods which in many cases begin to be sold on European markets.
    • Sicilian Diplomacy: We clarify that there is no declaration of war or state of war, the war ended quite a while ago. And we accept your ultimatum, although there is no need for it since the war already ended; we will refrain from any further war with the Papal States as you request. And again, no need to 'end all hostilities' because there aren't any.
  • Papal States: The Parlamento refuses to officially recognise the ceding of the southern territories to Sicily, and continues to appoint deputies from those regions. Pope Michael II thanks Belka for their ongoing support. The universities in Rome and Bologna are given a bit of a helping hand from the Papal coffers to recover from the war. The Missions begin to return to normalcy, with communication going back to normal. Special focus is placed on China, Uluru and Western Arcadia.

1824Edit

In Ethiopia, Emperor Dawit is heavily criticized for his weakness and sacking/executing the popular generals. This leads to a military coup where the army overthrows Dawit and imprisons him, installing his five-year old nephew as their puppet.

Napoleon descends from the mountains and decides to go Australia. Also, he begins a correspondence with Pope Michael by sending him many letters apologizing for his actions.

The Arabs, having been defeated by the British and Belka, decide that it is time for things to change. They decide to seek better relations with the British.

  • Ethiopian Empire: The government is run by a committee of seven colonels. 50,000 royal guard troops are sent back to Sudan. They state that they didn't work so hard just for a war he fought in to be forgotten. They continues with the expansion of the red Sea fleet with the first steam sloop coming out of Aduils and sailing the Indian Ocean. They also see the good in the postal system and expand it to Sudan. To get the economy back on track massive coffee exporting is started as is the massive export of grains and cereals. The banks of Axum and Adulis form to make the Bank of Ethiopia. The first major carriage company known as the R.C.C or the Royal Carriage Company is also formed. They ponder the idea of handing the government over to the people. However, for now, the nation is under rule of a military junta.

  • Russia: Colonial expansion in the lands now deemed Resnov and Saliya continues. Dimitri Kalashnikov, a young entrepreneur, veteran of the Napoleonic Wars, begins to see the fruits of industrialization and buys several weapon plants in Tsaritsyn to begin production of a light cheap variant of a small arm drawn up by an old British (probably dead) veteran of the Aztlan War of Independence, which was hard and expensive to make. It was called a "Lever Action Rifle". Kalashnikov and his on hand experts being to research new ways to make the weapon that are cheap. A crude design is finished but explodes after a few shots with the man firing it injured. Kauko Haikkinen, a Finnish captain in the navy decides to investigate the mythical land of "Terra Australis" and claim it for the motherland. He sails on his ship the Krasnoyarsk to Patagonië, and sets south through the Straits of Bonapaart. The Krasnoyarsk and the ships crew hit land ho. All that was there was a few patches of land, some peguins, seals and a large glacier to the south. So far he gives the land name to that of his daughter Anneli, as Annelia, and plants the Russian flag on the spot, makes a map detailing his route, and sets sail back for Russia.
  • Mehico: After the bitter war with the United Kingdom and Panama, a coup d'etat happens. Where General Geronimo Declares the Aztec Union Provisional government on the 22th of January. Directly on the week afterward - 23-30th of January - the governates of Novo Galiza, Maiam, Nova Leão and Mêcicipi accept this new government. Together the form the Geroniman Republic of Aztecs. As reaction to this action the Governor of De Deniae Maris who is also the Emperor of the Mehican Empire, is forced to by his son and advisors. To declare the Empire of Deniae. Which he is forced to give the throne to his son. His son does give lands of Mzer to his father and he declares the city to be royal property. After this, He Asks the Salish to annex and rescue his nation. (Salish response). While on the 2nd of April the Aztec Union Provisional government Ask the Allied states to give them a treaty ending the war. (UK response).
  • Salish Response: Ivan Suiattle is surprised at this development, but agrees to help the plighted allies who have helped us in the past. A force under Dimitri Suiattle occupies California under the mandate of the King, establishing a military rule until details can be worked out.
    • British Dip: We offer an end to the war in exchange for recognition of New Granada and its borders up to OTL Costa Rica while the British will be given lands in Novo Tejas and OTL Louisana.
  • France: Campaigns against Zayiyr continue. King Louis, after getting approval from the National Assembly, offers the Papacy a proper splitting of Savoy, with the more ethnic Italian side going to the pope while the more ethnic side goes to France. To make sure conflict still doesn't erupt over the splitting of families, if the deal is accepted, an open-border policy will also be put in place between the Kingdom of France and the Papacy, and in return of the acceptance of the deal, France will work one-on-one with stopping Sicily from any future invasions or attacks [in the future] (Mod/Scraw). Military fortresses are constructed on the border between Burgundy and France, with any immigration from Burgundy into France not being allowed. Industrialization and coal is continued to be mined as time continues. King Louis becomes slowly obsessed with old European empires.
  • Belkan Federation: Under further industrial work, more railways begin to be propagated throughout the entire country and some central regions are now fully connected by a railway network. Some of Belka's largest cities are the prime receivers of railway networks and the Belkan network now fully encompasses the Belgrad region and its surrounding rural areas and industrial zones (the coal mining districts) and another major network has sprung up along the Black Sea coast between Vasiligrad and the industrial complexes of the Danube River Delta which has become a hotbed of industrial production and agricultural production. A set of Railway Mains link Belgrad to Sofiya, then from Sofiya to Plovdiv, and then Plovdiv to Vasiligrad with full intents of expanding the railway networks from these main hubs into other parts of the country. A railway planning initiative is put underway to allow Vozhd Tito to harness the fervor of railway construction and focus it into a much more powerful network with the focus on this main railway main region becoming the primary driver of the railway construction currently. While all this is currently under way, industrialization continues to pick up the pace with Belka now attempting direct competition with British interests in various industries. Textile is notably not one. However, iron, steel and various other consumer goods that wouldn't be controlled via a colonial market monopoly are taken up and with some very open/captive markets to look at the Belkan industrial complex thrives specifically in Czechia, Austria, parts of Prussia, Hungary and Italy with some goods even heading toward the Middle East and near East Anatolia region. The Belkan navy officially downsizes its fleet back to about 150 ships with about 60 major ships-of-the-line to act as a Mediterranean Sea patrol fleet. In other words the Belkan army and navy co-ordinate and officially begin turning Malta into an absolute fortress.
    • Ethiopia Dip: We ask if our best engineers may study in Belka, to learn the ways of European Technology.
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: Word of the high tariffs imposed by the New Netherlands government angers the States-General in Brussels, as it runs counter to the official Crown policy of pro-free trade. As such, the Crown sends an official decree calling for the reduction of tariffs that has already seen a loss of trade for New Netherlands. In light of the Napoleonic wars, it is made clear Burgundy need a faster system for mobilizing the army. As such, army groups are stationed are stationed in strategic positions around the country, and composed of locally manned units, with soldiers able to report to nearby rallying points as opposed to gravelly across the country. With France deciding to fortify their side of the border, it is decided for Burgundy to do the same. As well, a series of Forts are constructed to defend the coast. In other news, a railway is cronstricted between Brussels and Antwerp. It is a crude line, intended only as a proof of concept to determine if further such projects should be funded, though what results are shown do prove promising.
The first Pan-Polynesian Games are successful, attracting crowds from across the kingdom, Polynesia, southwest Asia, and parts of the Arcadian west coast. An additional sport is added to the event, based on an unoffical game the king witnessed during a trip to Britain, in which teams try to kick a ball into their opponent's net without using their hands. The sport is named football, and rules are formulated based on the rudimentary version played in Europe.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland: Napoleon is now in Australia. Britain offers Arabia a defensive alliance if it gives it preferential trading rights. (Mod response) Birth rates grow dramatically. Industrialisation is now hard at work as the population grows as does the technology with more railways and factories. Parliament helps fund the growth of industry by lowering taxes as much as it can on business. England has 11.1 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.8 million, Wales has 0.8 million, Ireland has 0.6 million people and Scotland 1.8 million. The number of railways being built increases with connections between the coal mines and industry towns on the north. The textiles industry expands due to the high control the British have over the market in addition to the growth of cities leading to creation of slums. Education is given greater amount of funding at lower levels with efforts to increase literacy amongst the urban population.
    • East India Company: Some forces of the EIC continue to operate in the Indian Ocean fighting the Arabians. Everything else in the company is going well. Trade of goods continue with Britain. Tensions rise with Bengal as the war in Europe is over and expansionists thoughts are made.
The population of Avalon is 1.4 million and Iroquois has 3.4 million.
    • Arabia accepts. --
  • Salish Nation: Ivan Suiattle personally visits the occupied territory of California, where, after a tour and dinner with the Mzerkan Emperor, is crowned king of Mzerka. The Ex-Mzerkan Emperor is then given the title of Baron of Mzer. A diplomat travels to Novoroyssia's capital, demanding Russian withdrawal from "rightful Salish land", including OTL Washington, Haida lands, Nootka, and Vancouver BC area. The diplomat is instructed to agree to minor concessions, but not to violate the sovereignty of Salish. Orwell response, please. Other diplomats have arrived in Iberia, France and UK, requesting an embassy. Player responses needed. As well, it is decided that California has autonomy in everything but military needs and taxation. The first foundry has opened, and almost a day after, Ivan personally requests ten mortars to be commissioned.
    • British Dip: We are sorry but we don't recognise Salish as a sovereign state so no embassy.
    • Russia Refuses to leave its Southern Colonies stating many settlements there are founded by Russian-Viceroy of Novorossiya.
    • OOC Person: No way you are building a foundry.
  • Jin Dynasty: The Kangxi Emperor decides to restrict all trade to states that pay tribute and select European partners such as Britain, Russia and the Papal States. Due to this recent edict, French sovereignty over Macau is revoked and Macau is incorporated back into Chinese rule. Authors critical of the regime are purged. Despite literary inquisition, literacy rises to between one-fourth to one-third of the total population, as the law dictates that every firstborn child of every household to learn Hanzi and attend Confucian schools. While institutions for women's education are established, traditional gender roles and the concept of abstinence and chastity even after a widow's spouse's death are encouraged due to the enforcement of Confucian orthodoxy. Agricultural productivity rises due to implementation of irrigation and more resource-intensive methods. Both grains and cash crops are widely cultivated. The mining industry - centered on the extraction of anthracite, gold, copper, and iron - experiences a boom. Industrial facilities continue to churn out massive volumes of wrought iron derived from pig iron, as well as gunpowder and other processed commodities; most of which are utilised in the production of various armaments, firearms, and artillery. Immense commercialization continues, aided by heavy infrastructural development and a strong internal demand for consumer goods and luxury items. Basic sanitation and hygiene is taught, and public bathhouses, spas, latrines and sewage systems are all built.
    • Nivkh Commandery: Tiger Pastries Inc., a subsidiary of Lady Lin Tea, continues to flourish as a business. The Nivkh Prince-Governor (which is the member of the Nivkh Ayzik branch of the House of Kim) continues to adopt Korean and Chinese architecture, paving roads to facilitate transport, and replacing wood and thatch roofing with stone bricks and clay tiles, respectively.
    • Sakha (protectorate): The Khan continues to adopt Korean and Chinese architecture, paving roads to facilitate transport, and replacing wood and thatch roofing with stone bricks and clay tiles, respectively. Siberian crab apples become a local renowned fruit, and is particularly prized in Korea and northern China.
    • Xizang (protectorate): Lhasa, the capital, is expanded and modernized. The Tibetan clergy continues to administer the protectorate, with its leader, the Dalai Lama, being considered a vassal or substitute monarch. Many Tibetans are encouraged (via financial incentives) to become more sedentary, with food instead being supplied from nearby Sichuan (thereby reducing overreliance in inefficient herding).
    • North Mongolia: Yurt is settled further. A healthy aquaculture industry is established, harvesting and raising fish from Lake Baikal.
    • Zaihaibian Colonies Company rule (under the Chinese East Indies Company) continues. Fire-fallow cultivation is encouraged, leading to rapid deforestation of the forest, with local tribes being forcibly assimilated or expelled.

1825Edit

A short yet decisive war between Argentine and the Mapuche Empire leads to a disastrous Mapuche defeat in which they are pushed out of their sparsely populated eastern regions. This is attributed heavily to veterans of the Napoleonic wars in Europe who have taken up residence in Argentine hoping to claim new territory for their own.

The Zulu Kingdom, after years of consolidation, pushes to their east taking more territory up along the coast and associated hinterlands.

Some back and forth fighting in Mehica results in Baja California and the Regions farther Southeast reverting back to Mehican control with a large militia force of nearly 15,000 controlling it.

Novorossiya and the Russian Far East see larger influx of settlement as the profitable trade from the Russian colony and the need for a more major port in the region give Russians a necessary reason to settle the region more heavily. Some of the cities in between also see larger influxes of immigration as the previously built road systems help feed people into the cities.

  • Aztlan: General Geronimo dies after falling from a flight of stairs on 14th January. His government soon collapses. Pro-Democracy elements in the capital seize control. The pro-Democracy people organize themselves as the Aztlan Revolutionary Party (PRA). The new government drafts the Treaty of Guadalajara to bring an end to the war. The Governors arrive in the capital and pledge allegiance to the new Republic. Quauhtli Correira is elected President till the first elections. Order returns to the nation. The Aztlan Constitutional Convention starts in May, presided over by Cuahillo Barbossa. The Convention ends in September and institutes the Aztlan Republic. The Republic will be a quasi-federal, pro-capitalist state with a presidential system of government, with a unicameral national legislature and elections held every five years. The nation is divided into four states, each having a unicameral state legislature. General Cuahillo Barbossa of the reorganized Aztlan Army assumes control of the Militia in California. The Californian Militia is reorganized as the Aztlan Guards Regiment with a commissioned strength of 15,000 men. The Novo Galizia Hussars regiment and the First Maiam Grenadiers regiment is raised with a commissioned strength of 6000 men each. The first elections are held in October between the PRA and independent candidates. The PRA wins an overwhelming majority of seats in the National Assembly (98 out of 132). The four state assemblies also receive a similar result. The PRA forms the new government and Quauhtli Correira continues as the President with Alexandre Acosta as the Vice President. The PRA seeks to take advantage of the situation in Europe and encourage immigration. Land clearance projects (funded by the government) begin to make way for ranches, plantations and cash crop farming (mainly cotton). The Treaty of Guadalajara is drafted to bring an end to the war. The Aztlan Republic declares war on the Salish State. A force of 20,000 troops (8000 1st Aztlan Guards, 6000 Novo Galizia Hussars and 6000 Maiam Grenadiers) invades the Salish. Another force of 3000 troops is raised and attached to the remaining Aztlan Guards and are constituted as the Second Aztlan Guards Regiment which is kept as reserves. The infrastructure buildup in the northern regions since the last Comanche raids in the 1790s help support the 30,000 troops in California. Manufactories start to churn out weapons and supplies.
  • Kingdom of France: With the defeat of Zayiyr after nearly three years of fighting, it is incorporated as colonial territory of Africa. King Louis, after getting approval from the National Assembly, offers the Papal States a proper splitting of Savoy, with the more ethnic Italian side going to the pope while the more ethnic side goes to France (papal response needed). This move would effectively end the civil unrest in Savoy and bring the citizens of Savoy into larger and more economical and politically powerful nations of Europe. Corsica, the island nation that was given independence following the Seven Years' War, is offered to return to its statehood or it will face war as a result of its ignorance (Mod/Scraw). The Army, as well as the Navy, begin mobilization in the case of Corsica's decline. The population is currently stagnating around 23 million. Technology, and 30,000 troops, are sent down to the French Kongo after diamonds and other riches begin to come in. Industrialization continues, with coal mines and factories doing their thing. King Louis offers a chance for the Dominion of Peru to fully buy its independence and France's recognition for the price of 150 million livres (Mod/Scraw). A diplomat and an envoy are sent to Australia.
    • French Kongo: With the public execution of the Sultan after the long conflict, Military General Pierre leaves to go France once again, leaving a council consisting of hardline nationalists and military leaders in charge of the entire colony. The Council begins its reign by forcing French, as a language, to replace Arabic as an official language, as well as replacing Islam with Christianity and Roman Catholicism. The war-time military that remains in Zayiyr continues to stand guard around the ports, to make sure nobody tries to come into the country. Slavery, which is what was used to originally threaten the Zayiyr government into colonial territory, begins as workers of businesses are driven out and placed in a few diamond mines, which was built by political prisoners. Of course this is secret and nobody should know about it since no one is allowed into Zayiyr anymore. The diamonds mined this year, as well as coffee, sugar, cocoa, and lumber, are all imported back to France. With more weapons and industrial technology arriving in, it is expected that by the 1850's, Industrialization of M'Banza can begin from the factories and diamond mines produced in the Zaire River.
    • Corsican Diplomacy: The Corsicans agree to French demands and agree to French Suzerainty if the French supply them with supplies and arms to modernize the Corsican army (French response).
    • Peru Dip: The Peruvians refuse this deal as buying independence does not suit us specifically for that much. However, we wish to remain a French Dominion given our relative autonomy.
    • Aztlan Diplomacy: Emissaries are sent to Paris, carrying gifts for the King. The Government of the Aztlan Republic requests the setting up of a French embassy in Tenochtitlan and an Aztlan embassy in Paris. A preferential trade deal is requested to enhance trade between the two nations.
  • Hawaii: The nation continues expanding across the Pacific, trading and settling our various conquered or colonized possessions, especially Tonga, and other islands in the far southwest. After the success of the first Pan-Polynesian Games, the king seeks to expand the competition to other nearby nations, helping to fund the creation of a Pacific Football Committee. The recent outbreak of war between the Mehican Empire and other powers of Laurentia and Arcadia prompt the committee to postpone efforts to spread the sport east. Instead they turn their attention toward Japan, where with the cooperation of the local government, an exhibition match is held between Honolulu and Kaluahine, in an effort to spark interest in the sport there. A similar attempt takes place in Ngarrindjeri, Uluru later in the year.
  • Aztlan Diplomacy: Emissaries are sent to Hawaii, carrying gifts for the King. The Government of the Aztlan Republic requests the setting up of a Hawaiian embassy in Tenochtitlan and an Aztlan embassy in Hawaii. A preferential trade deal is requested to enhance trade between the two nations. (Aztlan is interested in football).
Secretly, we contact France, United Kingdom and Belka, assuring them of most favourable rate at these ports in exchange for non-intervention and tacit support. Sefuwa and Olungu are further fortified. With reports from the embassies in Belgrade and London, the Sultan begins a commission for a feasibility of the introduction of railroads, comparing it to the convenient ferry routes in Swahili. Industrial magnates in Mtwara and Ibo begin constructing railroads to link roads and mines.
    • Sefuwa: The colony of Sefuwa continues development.
    • Huriya: Political integration begins with Swahili bureaucrats being sent to oversee some political processes.
    • Rowzi: Political integration begins with Swahili bureaucrats being sent to oversee some political processes.
    • Swahili Diplomacy to France: We are willing to offer a sizable trade quarter on Socotra Island for lease, similar to the Pemba Island trade quarters, in exchange for a lower price of two million USD and French approval and support for the Swahili seizing of Iberian South West African colonies.
    • French Dip: King Louis will accept if he does not have to give recognition for Swahili claims on Iberian colonies.
    • Swahili Dip: The Sultan would like to inform King Louis that Swahili had already seized the West African Colonies (since the Iberian navy had been trapped in the Mediterranean Sea before the signing of the Congress of Paris.)
    • Hell no, Fallacy. Railroads are BARELY a thing in two of the main industrializers and they are pretty much solidly an IP at this point. There is no way you would be able to get hold of the tech to build them much less come up with it on your own (since OTL a lot of it was developed via war making capability and then Britain being Britain).
    • Oh, sure. I thought that Britain and Belka are building rails are over the place right now.
    • It's almost entirely within their own lands, and is more or less government owned or funded as of late. Nothing has proven profitable about them yet besides their usage for supply and shipment, not mass railways like you're thinking of later in the century. It'll be a bit before Railways extend outside of Europe.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland: Birth rates grow dramatically. Industrialisation is now hard at work as the population grows as does the technology with more railways and factories. Parliament helps fund the growth of industry by lowering taxes as much as it can on business. England has 11.3 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.8 million, Wales has 0.8 million, Ireland has 0.6 million people and Scotland 1.8 million. William Sturgeon describes the first electromagnet. The first passenger-carrying monorail opens: The Cheshunt Railway in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, England. Built to carry bricks, the line creates a sensation when spectators at the opening ceremonies hop in the cars for a ride. Official opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway in the north of England, engineered by George Stephenson. Steam locomotives are intended solely for coal traffic but the inaugural train hauled by No. One Locomotion (the first locomotive built by Robert Stephenson and Company) carries up to 600 passengers.
    • East India Company: Trade of goods continue with Britain. Tensions rise with Bengal as the war in Europe is over and expansionists thoughts are made. Several thousands troops from Britain begin to be moved to Sindh while Sepoys continue to be ready
    • Kingdom of Avalon and Iroquois: The Kingdom of Iroquois expands 50 px west from Henry's Land into OTL Kentucky and Ohio. The Kingdom of Avalon expands along the northern side of the Great Lakes. Migration of those struggling due to industrialisation continues. There is an exploding amount of population with immigration, high birth rates and vast amounts of undiscovered land. The population of Avalon is 1.4 million and Iroquois has 3.4 million.
    • Aztlan Diplomacy: Emissaries are sent to London. The Government of the Aztlan Republic requests the setting up of a British embassy in Tenochtitlan and an Aztlan embassy in London. A preferential trade deal is requested to enhance trade between the two nations.
    • British Dip: Yes, we agree to an embassy and trade deal. In addition we send 1000 men to be commanded by General Harvey Winston, a veteran of the Napoleonic war to support Aztlan in their fight against natives.
  • Belkan Federation: With so much going on industrially wise, the more heavy industries begin to take charge, with Iron, a small steel industry (only built up by the Rich and the Government itself) and then mining industries. These industries have become the most profitable basic industries in the nation and with the large amount of factories as well as the usage of steam power for multiple processes such as in factories and in newer mining equipment brings yields of raw ore such as iron, and coal to record highs. Lignite remains the single more extracted coal and is used for everything from heating homes to short term usage in forging in iron production. The Belkan hard coal and higher quality brown coals also thrive as workers flood to the deposits in Bulgaria, near Sofiya. Another field in Anatolia is also put into use as the Belkan people flock to the jobs here. The continued build up of railways in Belka sees the government and the few large private investors spreading the railway networks across the Vasiligrad and Danube Delta regions. The railways are very one-sided in terms of spread but now begin to branch out as they attempt to reach some smaller or less populated regions of the area. In order to cater to the Rural regions the first passenger trains are put into use within certain distance of major cities. A Similar input is put into the planning in Belgrad allowing for many people to begin commuting to work rather than having to live so close by and the the Vozdh agrees to end his term on a good note on allowing private investors to begin building their own passenger railways connecting into the railway mains. However, this is only current in Belgrad and somewhat Vasiligrad. With home industrial production allowing for more mass export to Europe the Vozdh officially begins the process of attempting to push through legislation that would handicap the Supreme Soviet from forestalling legislation. Seeing major issue with the various Soviets being able to be bought or have successful lobbies, the Vozdh utilizing his popularity, some deft political maneuvering, and widespread military appeal is able to successfully get legislation passed which limits donations to political candidates and also heavily reduces lobbying. The Fortress of Malta continues to be constructed with the entire island being fortified and the capital of the island growing as Belkan construction grows the population of the island. The plans for Malta as a fortress sealing the Eastern Mediterranean Sea to Belka finally begins to come to fruition. Some investment by private investors and the Belkan government sees the first railways constructed in Prague for the Czechs. With the quiet integration of the Western Coast of Anatolia and more population growth Belkan's population as of this year's census is at nearly 32 million.
  • Corsica: King Enrico III of Corsica ascends to the throne in an odd time for Corsica. The country is overwhelmingly mountainous and rural, with a large part of the population being illiterate farmers and goatherds. The Corsican Mafia, an ancient semi-tribal group of bandits, largely rule the country and act as the government. Enrico III appoints an educated Corsican and veteran of the Napoleonic Wars, Francis Paoli, as his advisor to help get Corsica into better shape. Francis Paoli travels around Corsica, conducting a census and visiting farmers as well as Mafiosos to gauge the people's opinion. Ajaccio, long a hub of Mediterranean Sea piracy, sees a man write a romantic adventure tale about a Corsican Pirate during the wars of Napoleon. The book is called "The High Tale of the Middle Sea" and he goes to a great publishing house in France to attempt to get the book published. The book is considered low class by his fellow Corsican intellectuals as it is very smutty, melodramatic, and is written in Corsican as opposed to Provencal French, which is spoken by the upper class due to Savoyard Occupation. According to Paoli's wishes, the King institutes a police force out of the small Corsican army and begin getting farmers to join to form local militias to protect against bandits. The King requests supplies from France to help grow and modernize the Corsican Police in exchange for Corsica accepting French Suzerainty (France).
  • Sicily: We continue to garrison and fortify the territory we recently acquired, constructing a series of fortresses and defenses near Naples and along the border. We make an offer to the French that instead of splitting Savoy with the Papal States, a Belkan protectorate, they grant the territory to Sicily, a French ally. (France Response) Specifically, since there was previously a brief personal union between Sicily and Savoy, a new personal union could be created. With an alliance made with France we also seek to make an alliance with Iberia. We continue to train our army and also rebuild our navy.
  • Papal States: Pope Michael writes to France, informing them that the proposed division of Savoy is more than satisfactory. The Parlamento writes up a proposal which would provide the new Savoyard territories with representation (for the towns, the nobility, the guilds, and the clergy, following the Neo-Scolastic, Kantian political system of parliamentary representation in the Papal States). The Papal Nuncio to China agrees on the pope's behalf to pay tribute to China to access their trade, and also begs the great Emperor to allow the Catholic Church greater rights within the great Chinese empire. Napoleon's letters begin filtering in to the pope, who reads them with interest. It is clear from their content that the former Emperor is truly sorry for the destruction he caused, and Pope Michael crafts some beautiful responses, steeped in both theology and mysticism, which urge Napoleon to spend the remainder of his life serving God; building up His spiritual kingdom on Earth. Missions continue. The Benedictines are given permission to establish a number of monasteries in Uluru.
    • China OOC: "The Kangxi Emperor decides to restrict all trade to states that pay tribute and select European partners such as Britain, Russia and the Papal States." (tribute is unneeded since the Papal States is considered a select European partner. Britain pays tribute, while the Russian company pays tribute on Russia's behalf).
  • Russia: Expansion in Arcadia continues as settlers from the Russian heartland pour east. A Colonial Militia is formed from groups of volunteers, Siberian’s, and natives. Consisting of 15,000, they are sent down to the Southern part of Novorossiya in Resnov and land in the adinistrative capital of the region. Captain Heikken returns to Feodorgrad with news of the Southern continent. He is assigned to the Russian Southern Commission which will map out the new continent. Kalashnikov continues his research into a repeating rifle. The String Baroque scene hits Arcadia slightly as a new sound becomes apparent. A statement of war is issued against the Salish perceiving their ultimatum as a preset for war. The Novorossiyan Brigade is sent into combat south of the Saliya Colony.
    • Aztlan Diplomacy: Emissaries are sent to Novorossiya. The Government of the Aztlan Republic requests the setting up of a Russian embassy in Tenochtitlan and an Aztlan embassy in Novorossiya. A preferential trade deal is requested to enhance trade between the two nations.
    • Fine. -Russia
  • Xhosa: The Xhosa tribe, in OTL South Africa, decides to expand their territory. They, under Chieftain Anathi, train an army 100 strong. They then proceed to attack the Zulu Kingdom. [Mod request: Please help with algorithm]
  • The Xhosa were one of the first tribes wiped out/absorbed by the Zulu. -Feud
  • Salish Nation: Ivan Suiattle fears his last days due to the recent warm relations between Atlzan and Russia. Fortifications are erected at the Columbia River, OTL Bellingham, and the California Valley. He offers massive incentives to join the army, as well as procuring modern firearms from Russian merchants.
  • OOC Falcon: I call BS if Orwell uses Russia's population to attack me. No way you can logistically support that many people traveling Siberia, and then transport them to Alaska with your Pacific Fleet.
  • Ethiopian Empire: The council of Colonels have managed to make tensions decrease in Sudan and slowly integrate it into the empire. The young Emperor is educated by clergy and military men in the capital and is mostly confined to the palace. The College of Axum sends surveyors out to understand the legitimacy of a canal that will connect the Nile to the Red Sea. However, I thought that such a thing was impossible at this time. The postal system is now allowing more people in the nation to talk to each other through letters, making the populace feel more interconnected. Roads continue to be worked on and more coffee factories appear next to the Blue Nile. The bank of Ethiopia beings more mining efforts to find gold in the African Great Lake's region. The Council of Colonels will decide what to do about the government in two year's time.
    • You don't have control of Sudan. -s

1826Edit

The French expedition into the Kongo meets with disaster as the majority of the 30,000 strong force sent into the interior of the Kongo never returns with only a few thousand diseased and malnourished men returning. The French administration meets with further disaster as many Frenchmen refuse to set foot in the country as death seems to be the end for the Frenchmen who set foot in the country and effectively leaving the country unruled by colonial authorities and left to its own devices.

Large immigrant waves from Germany and Italy flood Brésil, Argentine and more lightly in Aztlan, escaping the violent and turbulent situations in their homelands. Argentines funnel these immigrants farther inland to recently secured territory.

The first true factories open up in Aztlan and Brésil in smaller capacities relying on hard labor rather than steam power or other sources. They remain primitive but put these nations on the small side of the industrial path.

The Zulu Kingdom after much of its own machinations has managed to establish its own domestic arms production finally phasing out its spear and shield routes in favor of more modern infantry. It does, however, remain noticeably absent of artillery.

A series of trade disputes leads to the short but brutal Tondo-Japanese war. While initially going badly on the seas for Japan the daring and secret landing of an 8000 strong expedition on Tondo soil and the defeat of the response force forcing Tondo to convene a council on its woefully outdated military arms compared to Japanese guns and infantry tactics. The trade dispute ends quietly with Tondo conceding the dispute and its claims to recently discovered Pacific islands to the east.

Napoleon leaves Santacruz (Australia) after touring parts of the west and becoming friends with the King of Uluru. He leaves the continent with a Dutch merchant ship that takes him to the Zulus, where he is captured and brought before the king. Napoleon informs the king of his exploits in Europe and offers to help the Zulu modernize their military.

  • Belkan Federation: The continued drive of industry draws the ire of workers who are unhappy with working conditions especially with the conditions of Child labor. The debates on industrial work become a focus of the newest election as the Conservative All-Belka Party advocates leaving labor laws as they are which creatively allows industrial foremen and owners to use the loophole regarding children to fill spots, while the more Leftist Slavocist party campaigns for the introduction of new labor laws further regulating specifically child labor as well as changing quality controls for factories. This is specifically noted for the quality of metals used in Belkan arms as well as quality of food for the Belkan army. Being the prime driver of the nations power and authority in Europe, an army fed on sub par quality food is something that can't be tolerated. Vlodimir Popovic of the All-Belka party loses to Nicholae Andronov of the Slavocist party who immediately begins to implement new legislation. The Supreme Soviet in which this is brought up is somewhat divided saying government intervention stifles productivity and innovation while the more leftist elements consisting of a slim majority in the Soviet say that it is a necessary sacrifice for the well being of the people. With so many laws being put to the nascent industries of Belka in such a short time, there is a plot by private industrial moguls and the conservatives in which to kill the new Vozdh Nicholae. The Vozdh is then confronted at a speech in his home city of Adrianograd and is fired upon by hired mercenaries. He survives just barely having served as a veteran of the Wars against napoleon his reflexes remain razer sharp. He then personally leads the hunt for the conspirators and storms their headquarters in a large warehouse in the cities small industrial district. The storming leads to the ousting of the plot and the men are brought before the Supreme Court and tried in the shortest trial in Belkan history. The men are publicly shot outside the Congress of the Supreme Soviet, the legislative building in Belgrad and the entirety of the Supreme Soviet is made to watch in a mandatory fashion as their treasonous comrades are shot. This leads to elections of those tried and in landslides the Liberal Slavocists take power effectively giving the Vozdh a free hand in political maneuver. His popularity is noted to be the highest of all the Belkan Vozdhs as his personal handling of the "food industry plot" has led to his push into almost legendary status as a leader. His policies implemented without fail as he pushes heavily for the regulation of industry and in many situations seizes strategic industries specifically for the government. The Railway system also continues to expand with heavy railway systems officially existing within Vasiligrad, and Belgrad, and public mass transit having become a hit as many more people are able to now commute to their jobs while also living in major cities. With Belka's two largest cities and one of them being Belkas largest port being now connected by two railway mains expansion into Plovdiv and Sofiya are put into effect as well as a smaller railway heading into Greesaya with railways beginning to be constructed toward Adrianograd and down toward Attina. (More to come).
    • Brésil Dip: An envoy is sent to try to start up trade relations with Belka, and to attempt and gain access to Belkan weapons.
  • Aztlan: With large immigrant waves arriving in Aztlan, the National Assembly sets up the Department of Immigration under the Ministry of External Affairs. The immigrants are provided with money and are offered free land. Groups are sent to Germany and Italy to encourage immigration. The immigrants move to work in the newly established ranches, cotton farms and plantations. Plantations mainly produce cocoa, rubber, coffee and bananas. New plantations are being established with the clearing of land. This frees up a lot of timber for the shipbuilding industry. The first factories open up using labor intensive methods, mainly for the production of arms and munitions due to the war. The forces advance into the Salish nation. The Second Aztlan Guards regiment hold the supply lines open.
  • Salish Nation: We formally declare war on the Aztlan Federation. However, a diplomat is sent to discuss what would be needed in order for peace to be obtained. It is, however, stated that California was put under Salish control under the wishes of the king. Mass incentives are continuing to be offered for people who join the army, and taxes are steeply raised to pay for supplies, as well as the barriers that are erected at every pass separating the California Valley from Aztlan control. With our superiority at sea, we begin raiding ports on Aztlan's western seaboard. In other news, Ivan Suiattle is currently hiding in his palace, only letting a select few in. He frequently sends aids to the army encampments, ordering that low levels of quality are to be punished by flogging. On the Front lines, new weaponry is distributed, including artillery. The fortifications are complete in a month, and the defense is looking strong, as an offensive is planned, but not prepared for.
  • Jin Dynasty: The Kangxi Emperor decides not to intervene in the petty squabbles between Japan and Tondo, both of whom are mere tributary states subject to China. In order to lessen government intervention within the economy, the last state-owned firms and monopolies are privatized, granted to families with close sociopolitical relations with the imperial government. In order to stimulate domestic consumption to compensate for the newly established semi-isolationist policy, the income tax rate is lowered while the taxation system is reformed to account for the entire household, not for the individuals that comprise it. This increase in disposable income additionally allows the common man to purchase consumer goods he previously couldn't attain. While this causes a decline in the government revenue, unnecessary government programs deter fiscal collapse or decline. Literary inquisition officially ends, though critics of the regime are still often unofficially persecuted. Literacy continues to be fairly high (a third of the populace), with every firstborn child of every household literate. The dissemination of Confucian classics and the Sixteen Maxims continue in order to cement Confucian orthodoxy. The implementation of irrigation and capital-intensive methods of cultivation allows for an incline in agricultural productivity. The rise in the food supply, due to the cultivation of root crops in areas where the cultivation of traditional grains - due to the nature of the soil or other factors - is unsuitable. The mining industry - centered on the extraction of anthracite, gold, copper, and iron - experiences a boom. Industrial facilities continue to churn out massive volumes of wrought iron from pig iron, as well as gunpowder and other processed commodities; most of which are utilised in the production of various armaments, firearms, and artillery in accordance to the militarist policy.
The Nivkh Prince-Governor (who is the member of the Nivkh Ayzik branch of the House of Kim) continues to adopt Korean and Chinese architecture, paving roads to facilitate transport, and replacing wood and thatch roofing with stone bricks and clay tiles, respectively.
    • Zaihaibian Colonies: Company rule (under the Chinese East Indies Company) continues. Fire-fallow cultivation is encouraged, leading to rapid de-forestation of the forest, with local tribes being forcibly assimilated or expelled.
  • Argentine: We welcome the immigrants with open arms, though I was a bit shocked at how many came, we still hope they may find a prosperous future within our glorious nation. Argentine is a country ruled by democracy and republicanism, though has to deal with major corruption issues. The Argentine Military needs some updating as we haven't done much upgrading recently and more of trading and diplomacy. WE SEND A DELEGATION TO BRÉSIL TO WORK OUT A FRIENDLY RELATIONSHIP (Brésilian response needed!!). Argentine is a developing nation within the New World that still needs to work out its own issues. Write it can truly become a great regional power like Brésil or Britain.
  • Brésil: As migrants continue to come into the country from Europe large numbers of them are convinced to join the Frontalier units who are dotting the largely unsettled interior of the Brésilian Empire. These Frontalier settlements are granted large land concessions for cultivation and exploitation of the lands. The Frontiers act is passed by the Grande Assemble, the act defines the rights and responsibilities of the Frontalier settlements. The Frontalier settlements will be made up of a mix of native Brésilian (defined as someone born in Brésil) and immigrants to help integrate new arrivals. They are granted extensive tax exemptions for a period of ten years after the groups are granted land grants for large swaths of the interior to parcel out amongst their members equally or to manage as a communal land sharing the benefits of the settlements. However, they are expected to provide military service for the state being established as reservist units as well as law enforcement in the lands that are beyond Brésilian civilization, one in every three Frontalier servicemen may be called up to active duty before being returned to reservist duties. The settlements are also expected to cultivate the lands and not sell them to third party interests, finally the settlements are required to assist with government infrastructure projects such as roads going into the interior to further connect the growing nation. The immigrants who do not join up in the new system instead move to the growing cities in the south of Brésil as that is were most of new job opportunities are arising particularly around the cities of Rio de Comte, Port Royale, Villellemande, Aterrier-Haute, and others. Rivierre de Sud (OTL Rio Grande del Sul, and Uruguay) gains a huge population boom given the rise of cotton production there and the large need for manpower to full exploit this. The first proper factories that arise in Brésil are mainly in the growing textile industry that has arisen here thanks to the growth in cotton production. The Grande Assemble further tries to secure national interests by subsidizing the establishment of a native industry to reduce the dependence on foreign shipments and further consolidate the efforts to expand Brésil's military. Massive efforts to expand and modernize the nation's infrastructure are made particularly in regards to education institutions, hospitals and general healthcare facilities and roads specially in the interior around Gros Buisson, Chaku, and Amazon regions. expansion of the frontier continues deeper into the Grande Chaku region (OTL western Paraguay and eastern Bolivia). Ranching and cotton production and wheat production continue to grow in the Southern regions of Brésil, while sugar and coffee production grow in the north. Military expansion and modernization continues with the Army now standing at 45,000 active units and 15,000 Frontalier troops and 20,000 militia available for calling up. The veterans from the Panama war remaining at the core. A new clear chain of command is established and lessons from the war in Panama are applied. The Prince de Comte is elevated to General of the Southern Command in charge of developing and organizing a response to Argentine aggression. A diplomatic mission is sent to Argentine to negotiate a normalization of relations between the two countries. Another diplomatic mission is sent to Britain in an effort to purchase technology, particularly the patents for the new weaving machine and for guns to create a homegrown arms industry. The envoy is willing to negotiate terms for the transfer.
    • Argentine Response: We accept the diplomats and offer them a signing of a non-aggression pact. This could benefit both of our nations. We also offer a trade agreement to the Brésilian diplomats, such as wheat, minerals and other materials.
    • Brésilian Response: The envoy offers to discuss the establishment of normalized relations and a potential non agression pact based on the following points and after further negotations. One the recognition of Brésilian claims and settlements in the Chaku and Paraguay regions (based on current borders as shown on game map) and Two the establishment of freedom of navigation across the Rivierre de Argente and its entire system of rivers, beyond that a trade agreement can be negotiated in time.
      • Argentine Response: we accept the proposals.
    • Brésilian Dip: The envoy makes the following requests as an initial to any further discussions, a full renunciation of all Argentine claims to the Paraguay, or Chaku regions, and the recognition of Brésilian Primacy in the Laurentian continent.
    • Argentine Response: We only will agree with the terms presented before us if Argentine and Brésil both split these lands between the two nations. As for Brésilian Primacy, we have No Comment.
    • Brésil Dip: The lands in question have already been secured by the national government of Brésil as per the previous treaty of Normandy which Argentine broke three years ago, and the lands are already being heavily settled by Brésilians so no splitting of the lands will be accepted. Anything short of renunciation of the lands will be viewed as a lack of desire to improve relations.
    • Argentine Response: The Brésilians were just placed there by the government, not native to the lands. There are also Argentines that live there as well, what about them? Splitting the land according to ethnic location, with Brésil getting the lands occupied by Brésilian colonizers, and Argentine getting the lands that Argentines lived in since the days of being a simple colony of the Europeans.
      • Argentine Dip: We would be willing to give full renunciations of Paraguayan claims, but Chaku claims will not be renounced.
    • Brésil Dip: The Brésilian government reminds Argentine that any attempts to press the claims in the Chaku region will viewed with hostility. Brésilian troops and settlements are dotted throughout the region and any attempts to push them out will be received as an act of war against the Brésilian nation.
    • Argentine Response: Our interests are in the southern region, where Argentine sentiments are common. Any sign of violation of our settlements in the southern region will as well be seen as an act of aggression toward the Argentine Nation. Our soldiers will be stationed in southern Chaku. We will once again propose the splitting of the Chaku region that coincide with our settlements there.
    • Brésil Dip: 5000 troops are deployed to the region to ensure that Brésilian settlements and interests are protected while the rest of the rest of the Brésilian army is mobilized for further action should it be required.
      • Argentine Reaction: We send 4000 troops to Southern Chaku to secure our sentiments and Argentinian interests. The border with Brésil is militarized and our army is mobilized. Two Cavalry divisions also accompany the 4000 soldiers sent into the area.
        • Argentine Dip: As the Prime Minister of Argentine realizes that Brésil has an overall advantage over Argentine and could win in a possible conflict, he quickly dispatches a diplomat to create a possible demilitarize zone in the Chaku region, and to issue a truce, not wanting a blood bath.
        • Brésil response: A further 10,000 troops are dispatched to the Chaku region and Frontalier militias are mobilized in case of a conflict, while another 15,000 troops are dispatched to the Rivierre de Argente. Argentine enovy is well received and the Grande Assemble specifies that peace can be had and possibly a settlement on the Chaku region based on present settlement patterns (based on present map divide of region with me retaining OTL Paraguayan and Bolivian Chaco region while Argentine gets the OTL northern Argentina region) but only if Argentine agrees to demobilize completely along the Argentine border with Brésil.
          • Argentine Dip: The PM of Argentine and the High Commissioner of the Armed Forces both agree to the Brésilian proposal, but also request Brésil also demobilize their troops from the Brésil-Argentine Border.
          • Brésil Dip: Brésil offers to demobilize under the following conditions. A recognition of the borders as proposed above, the acceptance of absolute freedom of navigation of the Rivierre de Argente with the Rivierre being recognized as a free river, and other river ways in the interior of the Argentine (OTL Mesopotamia region), the establishment of free trade between Brésil and Argentine with no tariffs being enforced on Brésilian goods.
              • Argentine Response: We accept all the agreements but still stay silent on the "Brésil representing all of Laurentian" thing.
              •  OK, can we redo this? I realize I might have taken things a step to far. Could a mod recon these negotiations? With Blood and Iron (talk) 06:08, December 14, 2017 (UTC)
  • Hawaii: The nation continues expanding across the Pacific, trading and settling also our various conquered or colonized possessions, especially Tonga, and other islands in the far southwest. Expansion of infrastructure within the Hawaiian Islands proper continue with many cities, such as Honolulu, having been transformed into European-style urban centers. The nation's government is glad that the Third Panama War has come to a conclusion, and reinvigorate the trade with Laurentia and Arcadia that the war briefly interrupted. We offer the new nation of New Granada a trade agreement, and also ask to establish an embassy (and allow them to do the same in our capital). (New Granada Response) A similar embassy offer is extended to Argentine (Argentine Response). With hostilities lessened in the east, the nation's sport authorities again attempt to spread football internationally. An exhibition match is arranged to take place in Guadalajara between Lahaina and Lanai City, and another to take place in St Denis between Kaluahine and Hilo later in the year.
    • Argentine Response: We accept the Hawaiian offer and begin building a special building to be used as the official Hawaiian Embassy.
  • Papal States: The outflux of emigrants is somewhat worrying for the Parlamento, which sets up an ad hoc committee to come up with ways to keep good workers here in Italy. Meanwhile, Pope Michael II writes to Belka, offering to formalise the de facto alliance between that great nation and the Papacy. The Weavers Guild of Milan decides to invest in a new weaving machine from Britain, which they purchase and ship at great expense. In other news, as the church has increased to roughly one-fifth of the Antipodean population, the Apostolic Vicariate of Santacruz and Uluru is officially given proper diocesan structure, with Eastern and Western Santacruz-Uluru gaining their own bishops. The Metropolitan Archbishop of Edo, Giapan, is their named their metropolitan. Following the canons of the Council of Cologne, the two new dioceses begin work on establishing a major seminary in the capital of Uluru. In addition, the Immaculata set up a scholarship for Uluruan young men to attend one of the seminaries in Rome.
    • OOC Person: No, you can't just take my weaving machine. I am not flogging this stuff at a bloody flea market.
    • Yeah, agreed. Sorry, cal -feud
    • Belkan Dip: We agree to the alliance.
  • Swahili: We continue colonial expansion in Northern Somalia, in the South and in the Malindi and Mombassa area. Colonisation steadily increases as medicine and weaponry become more widespread. Automation begins in the North, following the population decline from the civil war. Cotton plantations become popular, as the manufactories in Zanzibar expands. Sefuwa and Olungu are further fortified. With reports from the embassies in Belgrade and London,
    1. Sefuwa: The colony of Sefuwa continues development.
    2. Huriya: Political integration begins with Swahili bureaucrats being sent to oversee some political processes.
    3. Rowzi: Political integration begins with Swahili bureaucrats being sent to oversee some political processes.
    4. Swahili Diplomacy to France: We are willing to offer a sizable trade quarter on Socotra Island for lease, similar to the Pemba Island trade quarters, in exchange for a lower price of two million USD and French approval and support for the Swahili seizing of Iberian South West African colonies. We note that these colonies are already under Swahili jurisdiction and control.
    5. Swahili Diplomacy to Belka: With our embassy in Belgrade, we contact the Belkan government, requesting their recognition for our seizure of Iberian colonies.
    6. Swahili Diplomacy to United Kingdom: With our embassy in London, we contact the British government, requesting their recognition for our seizure of Iberian colonies.
  • Kyauta Empire: A man named Kyauta claims all of OTL Mauritania for an empire he plans to build. He takes the throne name Mansa Kyauta I.
  • In the Kingdom of New Granada, in the year after the Treaty of Guadalajara, King Miguel Braganza works with leading figures to create a constitution for the new realm. Largely based upon a separation of powers between a citizen-elected legislature and the ruling monarch, the Constitution is completed this year. The Constitution is due to require ratification of all voting-eligible New Granadians (which will include all land-owning criollo and mestizo men). The King appoints Teobaldo Candezón, the former marshal of Gran Panama, as his point-man for the ratification process, with both men travelling across the country to convince the voters to approve of the document (which is widely expected to pass). The ratification vote is due to occur in early 1827, with the first elections under the Constitution to take place in 1830. Until then, King Miguel and Marhsal Candezón are slated to continue to lead the country. On the foreign front, the government begins putting out materials to entice Europeans to settle in New Granada, promising land and opportunity in the New World. This is especially aimed at Iberia.
    • Hawaiian Diplomacy: We offer the new nation of New Granada a trade agreement, and also ask to establish an embassy (and allow them to do the same in our capital).
    • New Grandian Diplomacy: King Miguel accepts the trade agreement, allows the establishment of a Hawaiian embassy, and begins the process of establishing an embassy of our own in Hawaii.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland: Birth rates grow dramatically. Industrialisation is now hard at work as the population grows as does the technology with more railways and factories. Parliament helps fund the growth of industry by lowering taxes as much as it can on business. England has 11.5 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.8 million, Wales has 0.8 million, Ireland has 0.6 million people and Scotland 1.8 million. In Britain, based in southern England, the army rests at 10,000 professionals with 5000 men in Ireland. There are two fleets one at Portsmouth and one at Bristol, each comprise ten first rate ships-of-the-line, 24 second-rate ships-of-the-line and 50 frigates. 30,000 men are moved to India along with three first rate ships-of-the-line supported by ten second-rate ships-of-the-line, and 25 frigates.
    • East India Company: Trade of goods continue with Britain. Troops and ships continue to be moved to India. War is declared on Bengal or whatever name it uses now to enforce better trading terms. Two Sepoy armies each of 60,000 men set out to invade Bengal one going from Punjab into north west Bengal while the other going through South India into South Bengal. The British forces launch land at the Meghna River and advance to take the Bengali capital of Dhaka.
  • Ethiopian Empire: The council of Colonels begins to ask the people what they want and the most popular answer appears to be a constitutional monarchy, so they begin to prepare the nation for transition by researching former democracies. More irrigation is spread to farms as it the restoration of the running water project from 400 years prior. All pipes in Axum are slowly replaced. New systems are built in Addis Abba and Adulis. Old ships are deconstructed as newer faster and larger models are set upon the Nile and Red Sea. The primer ships to be presented are the steam frigates Queen Sheba and Ezana which boast the largest broadsides of any African domestically produced ships. The Sheba will be put in the Nile fleet and Ezana will protect Red Sea and Indian Ocean trade. More cereal, coffee and arms factories are built along the Blue Nile.
    • This is your third strike for implausibility. You are now banned from the game. -s
    • May I ask what is implausible about it? I am curious. -Tharpe
      • OOC: As the former player of Ethiopia before you, and for my knowledge of politics in Africa during this time. Basically in the Middle East and Africa, the Monarch was seen as rightful to rule by god/Allah/ whatever religion they had at the time. At this day and age the monarchy in Ethiopia had no plans to have someone run the government in place of the king, as he was seen as a rightful ruler of Ethiopia, placed there by God, and greatly reducing his power would be seen as an act against God, plus this process would take at least next year to gain the results, and would not end up in a condition monarchist victory I can assure you. You might want to have the mods do the results for you next time ... that is if you ever come back.
      • Ah, I understand now, Thank you! -Tharpe
  • Russia: The War continues with mainly skirmishes between the troops and Salish Warriors. The presence of another Colonial War in Novorossiya leads the Tsar to send elements of 3000 professional troops to reinforce the Novorossiyan brigade. The immigrant flow east also provides an excellent source of conscripts in to fill the gap. Colonial expansion into Resnov (OTL British Columbia) continues. Kalashnikov is coming close to his goal of a cheap repeating rifle based on the "British Design".
  • Corsica: After no discernable response from the French, King Enrico decides to take matters into his own hands and has the farmer's militia, which has grown to a very large size, sieze all mob owned property. In Ajaccio, the writer, fed up with French publishers rejecting his book, decides to visit Germany and visit Berlin to visit the capital of the revolution. Enrico III decides to appoint Paoli as the head of the Farmers' Militias, who have begun the procedural siezing of mob owned lands. The nobles of Corsica, afraid of the King's extreme reforms, form a plot to have him overthrown and work with the mafia. The militias make quick work of much of the mafia except for the northern peninsula around the city of Bastia. The nobles haul out in Bastia and declare one of their own, a native Corsican named Garibaldi, as the anti-king of Corsica. Due to the nobles' siding with the mob, they are extremely unpopular in Bastia. The militia and the Corsican army put the city under siege and it slowly starves out until the nobles surrender. The farmers then rush into the city and all the nobles are executed. Paoli now possesses extreme amounts of power and the King appoints him commander of the army and director of the treasury, making him the first prime minister of Corsica.

1827Edit

Napoleon helps the Zulu modernize their military.

In Egypt, there is a growing division between a pro-Britain and pro-Belka faction. Many are saying Egypt should seek British help in modernization and defense. Bengal is crushed by the forces of the East India Company, completely unprepared for the full weight of a modern British army.

Note how Scraw has twice said he'd put mod events. Note how there aren't any mod events.

You are fake news.

  • Kyauta Empire: Mansa Kyauta extends his claim to include the terra incognita which is in OTL Mali and a small part of OTL Algeria, and sets up a government where he is below no one, and his authority is absolute. He requests that Britain help him train a modern army.
  • Argentine: Many Argentinians view the mass amounts of immigration to their country in different ways. On one side, the Right Wingers, like conservatives, patriots and Ultranationalists, etc., who view immigration as harmful, and tarnishing the Argentine National Identity and the Argentine culture. On the other side, is the Left Wingers, these are the Liberals, Progressives, Republicans, and a new type of ideology, Proletarianism (Basically Early Marxism, but with more government stuff), who see immigration as a great economic opportunity, and a great way for Argentine to reach out to the world, and be apart of world affairs more often. These two groups often clash physically in protests, and debate about immigration in Parliament. WE SEND DIPLOMATS TO GRAN PANAMA TO ESTABLISH GOOD RELATIONS BETWEEN OUR TWO NATIONS (Gran Panama response is absolutely needed!!!). Proletarianism is on the rise in Argentine.
    • New Granada (the successor state to Gran Panama): Receives the Argentine diplomats and is open and receptive to hearing their requests.
    • Argentine Dip: We request to establish an embassy in New Granada, and to establish a trading pact.
      • New Granada Accepts.
    • No, the border is based on the current partition as shown on the map, you gained no land, I took the Chaku claim and you kept the area you had south of the of that. Also, I have not signed a non-aggression pact or agreed to demilitarize the Chaku region, I merely agreed to open discussions for normalization of relations based on the open navigation of the Rivierre de Argente, and based on you abandoning all claims on regions I am settling which you agreed to. With Blood and Iron (talk) 03:19, December 16, 2017 (UTC)
    • OOC: Oh, then I misunderstood. I won't agree to any of the propositions then, my claims on Paraguay and the Chaku region are still official, and normalization of relations won't happen. Sorry for the misunderstanding, I thought I was gaining all southern Chaku land settled by Argentinians.
    • Dude, Brésil has complete control over the region militarily and economically any attempts to take it will lead to war you can't win so it's best to just back off. LOL. We were establishing the borders according to the map which is OTL border, I'm just saying that we  01:11, December 17, 2017 (UTC)With Blood and Iron (talk)
  • Corsica: Prime Minister Paoli begins instituting several reforms, which include the nationalizing of noble land, establishing a welfare system. Paoli also begins consolidating his power and disciplining the peasant militia, studying Napoleonic tactics. Ethnic attacks begin against the Occitan minority as they are now largely associated with the dead Corsican mafia. King Enrico III becomes more and more unpopular and his power wanes. After an assassination attempt by a protelarianist vagabond in the city, King Enrico III is persuaded to abdicate by Paoli, who crowns himself Testa d'Corsica (Head of Corsica), establishing the Republic of Corsica.
  • Salish Nation: Having succeeded at defending from Aztlan, a treaty is signed. The day is marked as O quinto in California. Forces are now diverted to protect against Russian raids. Seeing strategic potential, Ivan sends an ultimatum to the Haida, saying surrender or die.
  • Brésil: The blatant disregard for the goodwill mission on Brésil's part is met with a vicious backlash in St Denis. The authorization for mobilization of the armed forces is granted with 10,000 troops being sent to the Chaku and Paraguay region to ensure that the Argentines don't try to push into lands that are legally Brésilian under international law as per the treaty of Normandy. Any and all Argentines attempting to move into Brésilian lands are turned back under threat of force and Brésil. Another 20,000 are sent to the river region to ensure that the Argentines don't make any attempts harm Brésilian interests in the Rivierre region either. Military expansion continues with the army being raised to 50,000 due to the growing tensions with Argentine and with the need to further the expansion of the Frontalier settlements into the Interior which continues with great vigor in the Chaku region. Expansion of industry continues as well as cotton and cattle production thanks to the increase in labour and land available. Sugar and coffee production expands as well greatly especially around St Denis. Efforts to covet engineers and teachers from Europe greatly increases to help modernize and develop the growing nation of Brésil. The Unversite National de Comte becomes one of the largest institutions in Brésil for higher education alongside the Institute Imperial. The heir and his wife have a child a son named Henri preserving the imperial line another generation. The government in St Denis continues to offer well paid jobs to engineers, doctors and other professionals from Europe to come teach in Brésil's growing institutions of higher learning (can some nation please respond to this request, please). Special interest in British and Belka engineers are expressed, and the Brésilian government approaches both of them respectively about securing a deal to further develop Brésil and bring over professionals and engineers to also develop a railway system and bring in steamers to help unite the country further.

  • United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland: Birth rates grow dramatically. Industrialisation is now hard at work as the population grows as does the technology with more railways and factories. Parliament helps fund the growth of industry by lowering taxes as much as it can on business. England has 11.8 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.8 million, Wales has 0.8 million, Ireland has 0.6 million people and Scotland 1.8 million. The number of railways being built increases with connections between the coal mines and industry towns on the north. The textiles industry expands due to the high control the British have over the market in addition to the growth of cities leading to creation of slums. Robert Wilson of Dunbar in Scotland demonstrates a screw propeller. Explorers are sent out to Uluru and the pacific beyond led by Captain John Edwin. Education is given greater amount of funding at lower levels with efforts to increase literacy amongst the urban population. 30,000 men are moved to India along with three first rate ships-of-the-line supported by ten second-rate ships-of-the-line, and 25 frigates. We request the pope to recognise the British position in India by declaring the King of Britain, Emperor of India.
    • East India Company: Trade of goods continue with Britain. With Bengal having been over-whelmed by British forces, British forces set about destroying their industry especially textiles in a coordinated campaign before peace can be drawn up. The East India Company offers peace to Bengal (Mod response) offers to allow the existing nobles and landowners to hold onto what they have in exchange for allowing the British to appoint a Vizer to oversee governance of Bengal.
    • Kingdom of Avalon, Iroquois, Tejas and Savannah: The Kingdom of Iroquois expands 50 px west from Henry's Land into OTL Kentucky and Ohio. The Kingdom of Avalon 50 px expands along the northern side of the Great Lakes. Migration of those struggling due to industrialisation continues. There is an exploding amount of population with immigration, high birth rates and vast amounts of undiscovered land. The population of Avalon is 1.4 million, Iroquois has 3.6 million and Savannah 3.7 million. The Kingdom of Tejas is formed from land gained by the British in the war against Aztlan and garrisoned and administered by British troops while work is made on setting up a Parliament and defences. The capital will be at the mouth of the Mississippi.
    • Papal Diplomacy: Pope Michael II writes a Papal Bull recognising Britain's right to the Imperial dignity. The Bull makes special mention of the constant faithfulness of the British Crown to Holy Church, as well as Britain's clear pre-eminence over the vast Indian subcontinent. His Holiness concludes the Bull by exhorting the British to spread the Faith over their Indian empire.
Kamehameha V passes away late in 1826 and his brother David Lot Kapuāiwa succeeds him as Kamehameha VI. A large state funeral is held in Honolulu, while the king's nephew, Charles René Lunalilo is announced as the nation's heir. For the upcoming Pan-Polynesian Games additional sports are planned, including the proposed game of hoopball. Additionally the Mehicans' request for membership into the tournament is accepted. (Sorry I didn't see this at the time.) In addition to the Laurentian hoopball, and the original events of surfing, football, canoe racing, swimming, sailing, and track and field, new events from Europe are added, such as fencing and tennis. In the soccer category it is formalized that only the top sixteen teams shall be allowed to participate. Nations of the region are urged to create professional teams by next year, while in Hawaii a total of twenty-seven professional teams enter a tournament to determine entry into the games.
  • Kingdom of France: Due to the French colony of the Kongo having faced large cases of a disease previously unknown to France, many of the survivors, if any, are kept on the returning ships from the Kongo while a cure or anti-parasite is in the works to cure them. The population begins to rise unprecedently, years after reforms and tax cuts were given to ethnic French people who produced. The alliance created with Sicily a few years ago is formally disestablished, as the King wishes to see better relations with the Papal States and the Belkan Federation. The once independent Savoy, of which France and the Papacy split, is finally incorporated as a state of France (the French side, anyway). Military fortresses and bases are built on the Franco-Iberian border. Diplomats are sent to the Salish Kingdom as a means of trading French weaponry for rare and exotic resources that the Salish hold, if there is any. Recognizing all of the states in Laurentia as independent (Besides Peru since it still wants to be a dominion of France), trade deals and pacts are proposed with all of the nations located there, including Brésil, Argentine, Chile, and New Granada. With the tensions beginning to die down from the Napoleonic War, diplomats are sent establish trade agreements with the Germanic people of the Rhineland [Player/Mod Response Required for all]. Industrialization continues, with textile factories producing more clothing and more coal mines beginning to be created as more coal deposits are found the southeastern region of France. Industrialization also sees slow the movement of people from rural farmland regions into the larger, more industrial cities. With increased funding in the military, the active number of troops rises to 95,000, while over 200,000 are put into a required military training in the case that war breaks out, they may be used if needed. Neo-renaissance art begins to hypothetically "explode", as more intellectual people begin to care about the ancient classics and geopolitics. The Inner Circle continues to spread its fear upon the general population due to their ruthless nature and their political assassinations that were, but not confirmed directly, ordered by King Louis himself. Louis's brother, Pierre, the military general who led the campaigns against the Kongo and later led the state for its short period, is sent to the French Bahamas as a means of increasing his political influence and general reputation. French nationalism, or rather patriotism, becomes very large in the culture of the Kingdom, with many supporting a belief that if France is able to acquire territory lost over the last century, then it will become as powerful as other European nations. A French explorer named Auguste René Caillié, becomes deeply interesting in Africa, specifically the region of Timbuktu, and goes to explore the general location. The republicanism seen in Corsica becomes a threat to King Louis, but he decides to not do anything at the moment.
    • French Indonesia: King Charles Bonaparte, wanting to establish trade and increase the French sphere of influence, sends out diplomats to Vietnam, Siam and Cambodia as a means of trading French weaponry for rare and exotic resources of which they have.
    • The Rhineland is eager to re-establish normal relations with France. -s
    • New Granada accepts the offer of French trade.
    • Salish Dip: The French traders are welcomed, and whales are decided upon as a commodity to be shipped.
    • Argentine Response: We welcome the French delegates and accept the trade deal proposals.
  • Papal States: The Holy See thanks France for their kind acts, with the Nuncio to France assuring he French government that it has not gone unnoticed. The Weavers Guild of Milan decides to invest in a power loom. The machine, which is exceptionally commonplace in Britain, is shipped at the Guild's expense and is soon up and running. Many other guilds in Milan soon see the potential benefits of mechanising some aspects of their supply chain.
  • Salish Dip: We request an archbishopric centered in either Dwuamish or Tacoma, to represent the Arcadian Orthodox population.
  • Sicily: We express disappointment that France has suddenly broken our alliance. Instead we rely on our other ally Iberia, and try to make new allies around the region by trading and sending gifts to various states. We continue to fortify Naples and the other regions around the north that we acquired, connecting them to the rest of the nation's infrastructure. The military is trained and new ships are being constructed.
  • Belkan Federation: The expansion of the Belkan railway network continues in earnest with heavy pushes to bring railways to southern Belka particularly in Greece and Albania with a Railway main line being established from Tirana to Attinagrad (Athens) and connecting to the main line that heads toward Vasiligrad. Tertiary lines continue to be constructed all throughout the Belkan south linking up many small rural towns and villages with the main lines connecting parts of the country as never before. In an interesting move the Massive port city of Trieste under local government direction begins its own railway line fully intending on not letting Trieste fall to the wayside. This ironically spurs competition between the local governments of the Belkan provinces who grant the rights and building opportunity to select private companies to build and maintain albeit with the Federal government to be given controlling share of the company when the railways are complete. Croatia, Slovenia, and Moldavia all join this railway mania. However, without the massive capital of the Federal government the projects pale in comparison to the Supreme Soviets authorized building of railways across Serbia, Bulgaria, and Greece. With peace now reigning in Europe the Vozdh in a closed doors meeting with his counselors, the leaders of the Supreme Soviet, and the high courts all agree that Belka must engender goodwill in Europe rather than more and more aggressive attempts to create a larger land empire which has been a goal for much of the south slav  peoples history. Instead they must look beyond Europe with eyes landing down on the Maghreb where plans are put into motion to establish a colony in future years and join Europe's western nations as colonial powers. An envoy is sent to Egypt to discuss terms with Egypt about modernization.

1828Edit

The United Kingdom, Burgundy and Belka all boast some of the largest urbanization rates in Europe with these countries now boasting some of the largest urban populations in the world. London boasts a population of nearly 1.4 million, Vasiligrad and Belgrad respectively boasting 1.2 million and 1.8 million respectively, and Dijon in Burgundy boasting nearly 1.4 million.

Industrial competition in western Europe between Burgundy and France due to France's recent expansion of industrialization showcases the first case of a near capitalist competition in industrial goods in western Europe with both French and Burgundian goods being seen commonly throughout Western Europe.

Tondo, in an attempt to expand its landholding and become a more direct competitor for the more populous Japan, launches an invasion of Vietnam once again out of the Mekong Delta using its superior weaponry to wipe out the Vietnamese resistance and seizing half the country in a quick and easy war.

More Japanese explorations leads to the further settlement of New Guinea as trade posts and a small settlement are built on the islands northern coast.

  • Kingdom of France: After the return of Auguste René Caillié, he describes going to places such as Timbuktu, Mali, and Benin. King Louis, seeing this, congratulates Auguste on his travels and formally hires him to lead an expedition to the Benin state of Ere to discover more about the Benin people and their culture. 80 French top-of-the-line battleships are created, with ten being sent to the French Bahamas, and the other 20 being moved to French Indonesia. Industrialization continues, with textile factories producing more clothing and more coal mines beginning to be created as more coal deposits are found the southeastern region of France. Industrialization also slowing sees the movement of people from rural farmland regions into the larger, more industrial cities. The French island of Bahran in the Middle East is heavily militarized, as the new British presence in the Middle East has caused general fear among the relatively small populace. Mobilization of the military begins, as the battleships are placed in the Mediterranean Sea. The population reaches 26 million.
    • French Bahamas: Under the leadership of King Pierre, large fortresses and military bases are built on the more populated islands, including the capital city, as the Bahamas remain as the last main French Arcadian colony. The first population consensus takes place, with the main population being a little under 15,000. Salt production and wood production dominate the economy, as well as general agriculture and Tourism from France proper and other nations make up a large percentage of the nation's bank. After large deposits of minerals unknown to Pierre are found, the minerals are named Aragonite and subsequently are mined, but their possible future usage is currently unknown at this point. A few samples are sent to France proper.
    • French Indonesia: Expeditions and colonizers are sent to the island of OTL Papua New Guinea to help colonize the coastal region, as well as set up ports meant to further the French influence in the South China Sea, as well as to set up a relay station between the South Pacific and Indonesia. Colonizers and expeditions are also sent to rumored islands, such as the OTL Solomon Islands. Other expeditions are sent to the Uluru, as well as neighboring uninhabited islands in the region. Many of the French battleships begin attacking Iberian cargo ships meant to arrive in Timor, substantially meant to limit the nation's intake of goods. The battleships also begin to watch Timor, as to not let anybody leave the island. If they try to leave, then they are effectively destroyed.
    • You did not construct 80 battleships in a year. It would take five and also, you're a land power, France in no way is capable of producing that many first rate battleships. They cost too much. Think more like eight to ten over the next eight years. These ships take forever to build. Also, beware of population growth. Your growth shouldn't be too quick since you're recently industrializing. Solomon Islands are currently beyond Europe, BTW. -Feud
    • When I meant French top-of-the-line, I meant the British, Belkan and Burgundian second- or third-of-the-lines. The French Battleships are essentially similar to their ships pre-Napoleonic War, so they should be easily producible by this point for France and would be considered outdated but still in commission. But if it helps the situation, I'd like to change the 80 ships/year to 80 ships/total. SolaceEaSw (talk) 01:20, December 20, 2017 (UTC)
      • And because I forgot to mention, I had imposed large tax cuts for ethnic French men and women to reproduce a while back, so, the population would be expected to increase rapidly by this point, regardless of my indutrialization at this point. SolaceEaSw (talk) 01:23, December 20, 2017 (UTC) And also, since New Zealand was discovered by Burgundy, the discovery of the Solomon Islands wouldn't be "beyond Europe", primarily due to the British also having holdings in Australia.
      • That kind of thing doesnt affect population growth right now. -Feud
      • I introduced it a while back, so uh, yeah, it should be affecting population growth right now. Also, are the colonization of the Solomon Islands and building of ships still implausible? Because if so, then I want Burgundy's claim on NZ retconned/cut out, because although they are more industrialized, they and I still have southeast Asia colonies, making it plausible for me to be able to colonize. SolaceEaSw (talk) 20:49, December 21, 2017 (UTC)
  • Argentine: Due to the rapid influx of immigrants, our population has grown dramatically. We make new towns and villages for the new immigrants, with each town corresponding to each immigrant group, so like, one Italian villages, and one German Village. We also introduce new Christianity laws, such as everyone having to go to church in Sunday no matter what, and keeping old Catholic traditions alive. We rapidly begin fixing our relations with Brèsil, since twice we almost had a war break out (BRÉSILIAN RESPONSE NEEDED). We begin settling more Argentinians into our sparcly inhabited territory, making new settlements and building up old settlements into towns and cities. New Vichy, named after the old French champagne named "Vichy", is our capital, and sees new churches being built and new buildings. Our navy sees minor developments, with one new battleship being built after four years. We are obviously not a naval power. With new trading deals being made with Brèsil and New Granada, our economy starts to rise, with new resources being imported to us each day. Presidential Elections are coming up for Argentine, and it might be our most violent one yet! With many different military groups from each side of the spectrum being formed, but rapidly being put down and arrested.
    • OK, we have resolved nothing so far, you simply broke things off and Brésil is angry to say the least. I have a lot of troops mobilized on your border and we have no trade agreement frankly speaking I'm on the verge of embargoing you. So if you want to improve things read my turns and and engage in proper talks with me without unilaterally saying that I do this or that which I have not. At present we are on the verge of war and if you want peace then I will list the requirements below in a diplomacy for us to get started with negotiations. Also, I am currently sending all Argentine settlers who trek into the Chaku region back as I have military control of the region and it is de jure and de facto under my control (you do not control the Chaku region but rather the OTL Province of Chaco and Formosa of Argentina which are not part of the Chaku disputed region in this game). With Blood and Iron (talk) 05:45, December 20, 2017 (UTC)
    • Brésil Dip: The Grande Assemble sends a delegation to Argentine one last time to come to terms with the erratic Argentine regime offering the start of negotiations based on the following points: freedom of navigation along the Rivierre de Argente and its tributary system (this means complete freedom for all ships to travel into the interior of the Laurentinian continent without Argentine interference), Argentine recognition of the present border and renunciation of the Chaku and Paraguay claims completely (read above). Once these two points have been agreed upon by the Argentine government relations can start improving. Otherwise, military action may be taken to ensure the security of Brésilian national interests in the Rivierre and Chaku regions.
    • Argentine: We agree to the terms, and renounce all claims to the Chaku and Paraguay region, along with free navigation of the Rivierre, we settle to the borders of the Current PMIV map.
    • Brésil Dip: St Denis agrees to reopen trade with Argentine and to an informal arrangement to maintain cordial relations with Argentine. Most of Brésil's military moved to the border region is relocated with a 15,000 troops remaining in the Rivierre Region, and 5000 remaining the Chaku region.
  • Brésil: Military expansion and modernization continues with the army being raised to 50,000 due to the growing tensions with Argentine and with the need to further the expansion of the Frontalier settlements into the Interior which continues with great vigor in the Chaku region. The government in St Denis continues to offer well paid jobs to engineers, doctors and other professionals from Europe to come teach in Brésil's growing institutions of higher learning (can some nation please respond to this request please). The Belka envoy's offer is accepted with all terms that were discussed. The settlement of the Brésilian interior continues with great vigor as more Frontalier settlements pop up. The government efforts to create mixed communities of native Brésilians (born in Brésil) and immigrants proves highly effective at integrating the new arrivals who quickly become aware of the need to cohabit the newly settled regions with their neighbors who aren't always of the same ethnicity. This mixed with the military contract helps cement French as the lingua franca across all settlements as well as instilling the concept of civil duty. Vast tracks of the Gross Buisson region and the Chaku region are now fully mapped out and planned settlements are arranged for these regions. The settled regions push farther inland by 100 px to the northwest. Military engagements with the natives in the interior become a common occurrence as the Frontalier settlers and the military protect against raids carried out by disgruntled and displaced natives. Large amounts of outposts are established along the growing road network and along major river connections in Paraguay and Chaku to ensure the safety of supplies and goods going back and forth. Expansion in the Amazon region proves a lot more peaceful as the frontier there pushes 100 px as well to the south from the Amazon river by frontalier settlers who encounter smaller groups of much less organized natives. Due to process of industrialization that is occurring in major cities along the coastline the demand for raw material and food for the urban regions steadily grows. While the growing ranching and agricultural sector is able to meet the food demands of the cities and the growth of cotton production helps the growing textile industry many other materials such as coal are purchased from abroad. With talks opening up with Belka about future economic cooperation the government in St Denis inquires into the possibility of purchasing weaving machines from Belka as well as steamers to improve transportation of goods from the interior to the coast, as well as hiring Belkan engineers and professionals to teach in the institutions of higher education in Brésil (please respond, Feud).
  • Papal States: The Milan Weavers Guild is thoroughly impressed by the work of the power loom, and purchases five more such machines. Pope Michael II, hearing from the Prince-Bishop of Saint Peter-in-Brésil that there are great tensions between the Brésilian and Argentine governments, offers to mediate in the Brésil-Argentine Crisis. Missions continue.
    • Brésil Dip: The Grande Assemble is willing to allow a papal delegate to oversee negotiations. However, St Denis makes it clear that any negotiations must be based on the two points laid out by the Brésilian delegation. Anything short of that will be considered unacceptable.
    • Salish Nation Diplomacy: We once again petition Pope Michael for an Archbishopric in Dwuamish (OTL Seattle) or Tacoma (OTL Astoria), in order to represent the Arcadian Orthodox population.
    • Papal Diplomacy: Pope Michael II publishes an Apostolic Constitution erecting the Archdiocese of Dwuamish with the purpose of ministering to the Arcadian Orthodox population, as well as any Catholics of other rites living within its boundaries.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland: Birth rates grow dramatically. Industrialisation is now hard at work. The population grows as does the technology with more railways and factories. Parliament helps fund the growth of industry by lowering taxes as much as it can on business. England has 12.0 million people and inside of that London has a population of 1.4 million, Wales has 0.8 million, Ireland has 0.6 million people and Scotland 1.8 million. The number of railways being built increases with connections between the coal mines and industry towns on the north. The textiles industry expands due to the high control the British have over the market in addition to the growth of cities leading to creation of slums. Captain John Edwin arrives at the land held by Burgundy of New Zealand and returns suggesting the British should establish their own lands there. Some investors raise money for an expedition next year. Education is given greater amount of funding at lower levels with efforts to increase literacy amongst the urban population. 30,000 men are moved to India along with three first-rate ships-of-the-line supported by ten second-rate ships-of-the-line, and 25 frigates. James Beaumont Neilson of Scotland patents the hot blast process for iron making. Scottish architect Peter Nicholson sets out a method of preparing stones for construction of a helicoidal skew arch.
    • India: Now in control of all of India the King of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is declared Emperor of India. The new government led by the EIC bureaucrats sets out defining the country largely based on previous national borders with a Vizer assigned to each land to govern so. The Indian Army is established taking recruits from the old Sepoy units into a single army. Most of the recruitment is done from high caste Hindus and Muslims. Taxes are placed on the country but lightly enough.
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: Several more voyages are made to New Zealand, and the outpost at OTL Richmond, New Zealand expands. After a couple years of exploration, it is determined New Zealand is made up of two primary islands, although Burgundy lays claim to both of them, the outpost on the South Island, called Neiuw Hasselt, is the Kingdom's only presence. Most in the States-General are not keen on waging war against the native Maori to subjugate them, citing distance, so Neiuw Hasselt becomes the center of trade between Burgundy and the Maori, trading local commodities like furs and skins for European goods like muskets. In Burgundy, the country continues industrializing, with Brabant and Lorraine being the two leading provinces. Meanwhile, the Burgundian Royal Navy undergoes a large modernization program. Many older ships are decommissioned and either scrapped or used for gunnery exercises. The Island of Texel becomes the preferred location for the latter. During the same program, the Royal Navy authorizes experiments to test the effectiveness of exploding shells for naval combat.
  • Change of plans (Mahdist rebellion): Omdurman is seized by rebels loyal to imam Mahdi, a radical Sufi preacher. Despite the Ethiopian Egyptian clashes, he places them as one in the same issue, both being westernized dangerously, while Ethiopia is seen as more pathetic due to being outright Christian. Imam Mahdi promises he will march upon both Addis Ababa and Cairo and restore Islam to its true state. A plain yellow flag is chosen to symbolize the new state. Preachers encourage rebellions in other areas. Imam Mahdi says that like the Romans and Persians of old, the two infidel powers have drowned themselves out, and it is time for conquest to begin. Yet the Mahdists portray Muhammed Ali as a hero, slayer of Abyssinians in the hope he might defect to the Mahdists. Europeans are slaughtered in active areas. Mahdist forces lay siege to the Ethiopian Gurage city of Butajira. Omdurman becomes the military capital of the rebellion. Skiffs and canoes are sent to harass the Egyptian Nile Navy. the imam also becomes obsessed with the heretical state of Buha in OTL Rwanda and Buganda, since it is ruled by a Kuzir Tutsi elite that suppresses the Muslim masses. However, that is far out of his reach. And he doesn’t bother do try anything. Yet the states existence does not hold his grandiose or OCD. A charismatic General Khalid ibn al Walid Awan, naming her himself after the famous general wins support, himself being a converted tribal animist.
    • Ansar al Dine (Mahdist insurgent group): followers arm themselves with swords and build primitive firearms, harassing Egyptian troops. Meanwhile, preachers spread the glory of Mahdi to the countryside as well as Oromo areas of Ethiopia to overthrow the Abyssinians as well, seeing as the Oromo are Muslims. (My keyboard is really messed up, sorry)
    • attempting to keep this plausible by not doing any extending too far north in Egypt, or branches in Addis Ababa or north Ethiopia yet. Revolt is regional for now, and so is Mahdism.
  • Sicily: We continue to fortify Naples and the other cities on the border, connecting them to the rest of the nation's infrastructure. Although the nation is primarly agrarian, the new king makes a push to turn the nation into a more modernized and industrial nation gradually. First, by upgrading the navy further and funneling a large portion of the nation's budget into military spending. Sicily has always been an important naval power thanks to its position in the center of the Mediterranean, but now the nation seeks to become much more powerful on the sea. A series of new frigates are launched, the Blackwall Frigates, that are about 46m in length, with three masts and numerous cannons.

1829Edit

Industrialization continues in Britain, Burgundy and Belka.

Napoleon continues to help the Zulus and is joined by his son Napoleon the Younger, who has also been traveling the world.

The navy fights off a few Iberian fleets.
    • Sefuwa: The colony of Sefuwa continues development.
    • Huriya: Political integration begins with Swahili bureaucrats being sent to oversee some political processes.
    • Rowzi: Political integration begins with Swahili bureaucrats being sent to oversee some political processes.
    • Swahili Diplomacy to France: We are willing to offer a sizable trade quarter on Socotra Island for lease, similar to the Pemba Island trade quarters, in exchange for a lower price of two million USD and French recognition for the Swahili seizing of Iberian South West African colonies.
    • Swahili Diplomacy to Belka: With our embassy in Belgrade, we contact the Belkan government, requesting their recognition for our seizure of Iberian colonies.
    • Swahili Diplomacy to United Kingdom: With our embassy in London, we contact the British government, requesting their recognition for our seizure of Iberian colonies.
  • Mahdist Rebellion: Imam Mahdi plans to cleanse Islamic society, and when conquest is complete an election will be held for a rightful caliph by the ullema. He also keeps his sons enthusiastic by promising them governership of Egypt and Ethiopia respectively, with the caliph seated in Sudan. Many followers are not motivated by religious reasons, however. Some have a hatred of habesha, and want to conquer Ethiopia due to that. In addition, many feel as if the Egyptian state has turned their backs on the Sudanese. Most, are purely religious fanatics. the people who joined for other reasons are beginning to be seduced by this Islam. hospitals are built to win over hearts and minds of the populace in areas under control.
  • Ansar al Dine (insurgent group) underground preaching continues and attacks on Egyptian properties in Sudan occur. The preaching is spread particularly to southern Ethiopia, a Muslim majority region. Rocks, knives, swords, and primitive firearms made from metal tubes and old broken firearms are all used to attack the Ethiopian troops, while protests are organized in these Muslim majority cities. In Egypt, small attack boats are made, harassing the Nile navy. Defections are encouraged for the Sudanese working in the Egyptian army.
  • Kingdom of France: A cure, or rather anti-parasite, continues to be made for Malaria. After the French expedition into the Benin state of Ere is complete, King Louis decides to nominate Benin as the new location for French colonialism, hoping to not achieve the same failure that was the French Kongo. King Louis decides to send proper diplomats to Ere to bring about the proposition for Ere to become under French rule, but in return the King of Ere will receive a percentage of the taxes and will remain a sole leader of the state, but will act more as a representative and will hold no true power [Mod/Scraw Response Please]. A military alliance is proposed with the Rhineland to help invade a certain neighboring nation, with the incentive being more territory and a large number of riches, including industrial technology and (if this is what the Rhenish government wants) France's help in the restoration of a unified German state [Mod/Scraw Response, Please]. Not currently having a heir, King Louis (now 27) marries this girl named Sophie (age 23), and she is properly crowned Queen of France. They are expecting their first child. King Louis accepts the Swahili offer, and by the end of the year, The French East African Company is created, with Charles Bonaparte's second cousin Jerome from the Rhineland being placed as Colonial Viceroy of the company. Near the end of the year, People begin to flood the streets of Pairs, calling for a revised constitution and the abdication of King Louis. Extreme Republicans join in, and call for not only a new constitution, but for the establishment of a French Republic. The main cause for these occurring are due to the large vacancies in the National Assembly and their (at the moment) undefined connection to the King. Many proclaim that the King is the one masterminding the deaths of these politicians, and point towards members of the Inner Circle as the ones carrying out these murders. Although the King has paid relatively no attention to these protests, he hires numerous bodyguards and royal guards after a massacre takes place on December 30th, after miscommunication between the police causes the police to fire on a crowd of protestors, estimated at 400 total. The death count rallies up to 27 dead, and 50+ injured.
    • French Indonesia: Expeditions and colonizers are sent to the island of OTL Papua New Guinea to help colonize the coastal region, as well as set up ports meant to further the French influence in the South China Sea, as well as to set up a relay station between the South Pacific and Indonesia. An envoy of French items and diplomats are sent to the Uluru to help establish possible relations with the people on the island.
    • French Bahamas: Colonial Viceroy Pierre decides to concentrate a large number of resources into the modernization of the capital city of Nassau.
    • French East African Company: After buying the Swahili Island is finished, the French East African Company is established as a means of governing possible East African and West-to-South Asia colonies. With the promotion of Jerome Bonaparte to Colonial Viceroy, he views his title as stupid since they are merely leasing an island and have no core territory. Viceroy Jerome sends out a few diplomats and envoys to the neighboring nations of Ethiopia, Egypt, Arabia-Persia, Dravidia, and the Zulu Kingdom, requesting trade pacts [Player/Mod Response Needed]
    • The timid government of Rhineland, led by fearful and weak elements reject the French offer. -s
    • Ere accepts. -s
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland: Birth rates grow dramatically. Industrialisation is now hard at work. The population grows as does the technology with more railways and factories. Parliament helps fund the growth of industry by lowering taxes as much as it can on business. England has 12.2 million people and inside of that London has a population of 1.4 million, Wales has 0.8 million, Ireland has 0.6 million people and Scotland 1.8 million. The number of railways being built increases with connections between the coal mines and industry towns on the north. The textiles industry expands due to the high control the British have over the market in addition to the growth of cities leading to creation of slums. Seeing Burgundy put more effort into New Zealand it is decided to not start a war there but the need for a foothold in the pacific is obvious. The land of Uluru seems a sensible target, Parliament authorises a force of 2000, two battleships and 12 frigates to go and pressure Uluru into a new deal. We strongly suggest Uluru enter a protectorate relationship with Britian (Mod response) we would provide them with protection and technology such as medicine and improved agricultural abilities. Education is given greater amount of funding at lower levels with efforts to increase literacy amongst the urban population. 30,000 men are moved to India along with three first-rate ships-of-the-line supported by ten second-rate ships-of-the-line, and 25 frigates. Henry Robinson Palmer files a British patent application for corrugated iron for use in buildings. The Rainhill Trials, a steam locomotive competition, are run in England and won by Stephenson's Rocket. The patents are centralised with Britian, the lands in Arcadia and India all having patents universally apply. William Burt obtains the first patent for a form of typewriter, the typographer.
    • India: The New Indian Army continues to grow while more British people trained in civil service academies are sent to India. 30,000 troops of Muslim religion are sent to the west of India to prepare for a sealift while merchant ships are assembled for transport.
Work begins on the capital.
    • Uluru rejects the concept of protectorateship. -s
    • British Dip: Oh well, the British force which was at Uluru is moved to Aden. 8000 troops along with four first-rate, ten second-rate and 14 frigates are also dispatched to Aden.
  • Papal States: Pope Michael II celebrates Christmas Mass in St Peter's, with his homily (which is printed into a pamphlet and distributed around Europe) focusing on peace, as well as the plight of the poor in the growing cities of Europe. The pope sends an envoy to conduct an Apostolic visitation of the new dioceses of Uluru. Missions continue.
  • Brésil: Military expansion and modernization continues with the army being raised to 50,000 due to the growing tensions with Argentine and with the need to further the expansion of the Frontalier settlements into the Interior which continues with great vigor in the Chaku region. The Archbishop in Brésil performs the largest mass so far in the Empire's history. The Argentine diplomats are well received and thy permitted to attend the all-Catholic mass in the capital. Across the nation thousands of the new Brésilians start to enjoy a Brésilian Christmas which includes massive fireworks and a lot of drinking. Many of the old customs are integrated into Brésilian Christmas. Argentine soldiers are joined by the remaining Bréslian troops in celebration as well as by Frontalier units. a steady stream of woman start to pop up in the Frontalier settlements working in brothels this leads to slight increase in population amongst the largely male population of the Frontalier settlements. This first wave of women is soon followed by other women who either work in the brothels or outright marry the men of the frontier (this is somewhat based on the OTL American West settlement patterns.)
  • Argentine: Political Tensions continue to rise in Argentine. The Bishop of New Vichy is scared of the Growing Secularism and Anti-Religious sentiment of the Proletarianist Movement in Argentine, and strikes a secret deal with the right wingers. The Argentinian Soldiers on the border with Brésil, shockingly, start singing Christmas carols in French, such as Nuit Silencieuse (Silent Night), and Joie au Monde (Joy to the World) (Brésilian Response). A nationwide gathering occurs in New Vichy central square, where children and adults sing French Christian Songs and Christmas songs. Jewish communities celebrate Hannukah, and the few Muslims (0.1% of the population) celebrate their version of Christmas. The whole nation is filled with joy and kindness, even the proletarians can be seen giving out gifts and Christmas caroling. Priests give special ceremonies inside cathedrals, and the Bishop of New Vichy himself makes a famous speech in front of the Papal Embassy, and wishes everyone a Happy Christmas (that's how we say it in Argentine). The Prime Minister and his spouse, with help of the guards and staff, decorate the the capitol building, and hand gifts to each other. This is sure a holiday we will never forget. Argentine Diplomats arrive in St Denis, and give their Brésilian counterparts gifts and a Catholic blessing in Latin, smiling all the while. (Another Brésilian response needed)
  • Muslims don’t celebrate Christmas.
  • Salish Nation: Ivan Suiattle decides to use the resources of the state to begin expansion through the Columbia, with the next piece being incorporated into Salish. Haida is invaded with our marines, with the ports being used as stepping stones to raid Russian shipping. Delegations are sent to all major European powers, bearing a sample of our riches, such as whales. These delegations are to prompt investment, and ask for help against Russia.
    • French Diplomacy: King Louis accepts the delegation received, and from French Indonesia, a few small cargo ships carrying some French second to top-of-the-line weaponry are sent to Salish. King Louis also requests that the Salish Nation allow the opening of a French port in OTL San Francisco as to keep trading close by and to encourage more trade between both nations.
  • Russia: The Salish War continues as we will not back down the Russian claims of the Treaty of Saint Gregory are fulfilled. The Tsar personally sends 5000 professional reinforcements. • China: Offers to grant France control of the port of Macau for an annual rent of ten pounds (160 ounces) worth of gold, or approximately 288,000 USD in modern-value. However, this amount is open to negotiation. International trade with Chinese tributary states and selected partner states are encouraged. The dissemination of Confucian classics and the Sixteen Maxims continue in order to cement Confucian orthodoxy, aided by a rise in literacy and education. Immense commercialization continues, aided by heavy infrastructural development and a strong internal demand for consumer goods and luxury items. Basic sanitation and hygiene is taught, and public bathhouses, spas, latrines and sewage systems are all built.
    • Nivkh Kingdom (protectorate): Tiger Pastries Inc., a subsidiary of Lady Lin Tea, continues to flourish as a business. The Nivkh House of Ayzik splits from the House of Kim, and the Nivkhs become their own separate Kingdom. The King continues to adopt Korean and Chinese architecture, paving roads to facilitate transport, and replacing wood and thatch roofing with stone bricks and clay tiles, respectively. There are approximately 300,000 residents within Nivkhgu, of which 250,000 are Nivkhs while 40,000 are Koreans.
    • Sakha (protectorate): The Khan continues to adopt Korean and Chinese architecture, paving roads to facilitate transport, and replacing wood and thatch roofing with stone bricks and clay tiles, respectively.
    • North Mongolia (protectorate): Yurt is further settled. A healthy aquiculture industry is established, harvesting and raising fish from the Baikal Lake.
    • Zaihaibian Colonies: Company rule (under the Chinese East Indies Company) continues. Fire-fallow cultivation is encouraged, leading to rapid deforestation of the forest, with local tribes being forcibly assimilated or expelled.
