The Hamilton Crisis (1802-1803) refers to a constitutional crisis in the United States of America regarding to the legitimacy of a series of proposed acts, collectively known as the Stone Acts, and the subsequent amendments proposed and passed to resolve the issue. These constitutional amendments are called the "Reorganization Amendments" - because they drastically altered the balance of power in the Federal Government. After the passing of the amendments, a separate branch had been developed for constitutional review, and the powers of the executive branch had been specified. Because the rights of states were not infringed and the mood of the nation supported the amendments, the changes enjoyed broad support.
