Another day another giant woolly rat SupremeSensualSamrāṭSky 22:00, August 21, 2017 (UTC)

The Yonglu continue to be inspired by their northern neighbour's technological advancements so they begin fortifying their border with the Uluru while organizing their growing nation.

A prominent Ququququ councilman claims to have visions of a giant woolly rat army conquering the world under his command.

The Italian military can't withstand the Belkan onslaught. There are large scale surrenders and desertion. One bold general decides to burn the country in his retreat and issues orders to attack the Belkan armies with fire. He orders complete scorched earth tactics to delay the invasion as much as possible.

The Holy Roman Emperor kills himself in disgrace. This means it is time to elect a new one.

Meanwhile in the Rhineland, a great number of the states in the Rhenish Conference proclaim the Independent League of Rhine States (Rhenish League) under the leadership of Conference Chancellor Joachim Engelbert. Engelbert reaches out to Burgundy and invites them to leave the suzerainty of the HRE as well and make an alliance.

In Bremen, the people reject Sven's nonsense compromise. There are no Kappelists to make any difference, the entirety of the population is basically Catholic.

The Zulu Civil war continues on with the Pro-Swahili Claimant to the throne self proclaimed king Ayize facing off in an extremely brutal but indecisive battle with Bakla. Nearly 30,000 are dead between both sides. This can be attributed to the lack of prisoners being taken in the battle. Both sides quickly return to their respective staging areas to nurse their wounds.

  • Salish Nation: We arm our warriors with guns from Mzerka. With this new power, we attack the tribes to our South, placing them under our rule. We encounter a problem, as these tribes are too distant to effectively administer. The tribes join us, however, as we are the most powerful force in the area. In order to solidify our rule, we send missionaries, along with having the other tribe's children live with us for five years so that they are solidified into our culture.
    • Mzerkan Diplomacy: We want to notify you that we haven't given your nation at any point of our friendly relations
  • Belkan Federation: With the collapse of Italian resistance in the face of Belka's armies, some of the further operations are cancelled and the main armies sent into middle Italy and Sicily occupy the region and more or less agree that occupation in the long term is not a sustainable goal and that a more sustainable situation should be established in Italy. with so much land coming under the Scorched Earth policy smaller armies of about 30-50,000 pursue into the Italian Interior securing regions which are not destroyed and lightly observing the regions which were burned in the Retreat. This becomes a rather sobering moment for many of the Belkan troops entering into the League as the scorched earth has led to many people who are starving, dying or already dead when the armies reach them. All of the major cities are quickly occupied and envoys are sent to the Papa state. A treaty is to be fleshed out between the Papacy and the Belkans on the fate of the Italian league being the only reliably stable Italian nation. The full occupation of the League leads to a large force of roughly 150,000 dubbed the "Belkan Italian Army" which take up positions around Italy and Sicily for the duration of the occupation as the Papal State is brought into the treaty negotiations. With the budget now not allowing and all seized supplies burned through or starting to fall short, the Belkan army is drawn back significantly. With nearly 450,000 troops in Excess the Belkan army dismisses all these men back to their homes and gives them a relatively large pension to build their lives off of and requires these men on said condition that they are to be the first troops to be called up from the reserves in the cases of further Belkan wars. The standing army of Belka at current troop strength is a much more manageable 500,000 and much of the excess military arms are sold to new clients in Austria, Bavaria, Greece (Anatolia) and Czechia. The home economy and culture is very positive on the war. However, the horrors are also brought back and some unpopularity arises due to news sources criticizing the Vozdh who takes no responsibility for the war dead however small the number may be. The home culture adopts many of the Russian instruments and musical styles continuing to innovate the music style in a Belkan fashion. Another planned force of roughly 100,000 split off as the Central German Expedition is prepared and sent to the now fully rebuilt Prague and prepared a campaign to move well into Central Germany and secure more of the now increasingly likelihood of these nations becoming "former" HRE states. Tunis is also fully occupied and the Italian government in the city is phased out. In Slovenia the Slovenes of Austria are fully integrated into Belka with historical Slovenia being incorporated into the Federation as a result of the concordat signed as a trade of Slovenia for Trento back to Austria.
    • Czech Federation: The Czech Federation officially holds its first elections, bringing Milan Capec as the Vozdh of Czechia he implements many of the liberal reforms that are observed in Belka including theoretically freedom of Press but due to the hostility in the air this is dubious and almost unobserved. The People finally being free from Germany dominion seem unawares that Milan acts with directions from Belgrad. However, this is not an issue as a sense of revenge takes hold and a predominant view around the country taking hold is that the Holy Roman Empire has held back the Czechs for far to long. A census is conducted to learn more about the countries demographics and also bring about a higher level of conscription ability. This brings nearly 600,000 men to bear as conscripts and orders are placed to Belka to provide arms for all 600,000 men. However, as of right now, only 150,000 are raised at part of the Czech Home army which will remain as the Guards over the northern borders of the alliance.
    • Kingdom of Austria: The new Austrian Army - a Belkan supported force of 50,000 - is raised out of the Austrian population of roughly five million to act as garrisons but gains notoriety in its professional and disciplined attitude in the seizure of Trento which becomes ostensibly part of Austria who reincorporate the city, wrongfully released away decades ago. Borislav now acting as the constitutionally limited king seeks help from his Cousin Petar in implementing a Pro-Belka Policy in Austria and in surprise to placate the nobility a claim to Trento on the Italian league is backed if only for the placation benefits.
    • Kingdom of Bavaria: King Von Staufenberg continues building Bavaria up independently heavily purporting Bavarian culture but now with some territory within the Rhineland League is curious on what to do with it but more or less gives it general autonomy for the time being as the king attempts to establish a local economy. The Bavarians officially begin a withdrawal from the HRE and gravitate toward more open European politics. They also handily begin raising almost 100,000 troops but this year only 50,000 are ready with the the Demand exceeding supply on the Belkan side. The Bavarian King, however, does seem some logic in giving up the extent territories due to his lack of experience in ruling far away territories and their proximity to the newly developing League of the Rhine. He defers to Belkan judgment which advises the releasing of the territories in the next year as the Grand Duchy of Swabia.
    • Greek Confederation: The Greek confederation continues to occupy new territories within the recently conquered lands in the west of rum. Many in the west were already orthodox or Greek and are handily integrated. Garrisons up to Ankara are, however, much harder to deal with but the Greek Forces are able to defeat the marginal resistance and begin their own wave of oppression on the Turks as they begin to exploit, occupy and settle the newly taken territory.
    • Viceroyalty of Tunis: Under the newly appointed governor of Vladislav Turnikov, the viceroyalty of Tunis is created with Belkans residing in Tunis having all the rights and permissions guaranteed to them by the constitution. The city being one of barely 50,000 is something that is scoffed at by the Belkan marines which are an expanded force from the navy in order to keep governance of the city. While the military is technically to act as the police, the Belkan viceroy issues his first orders which outline how the city is to be run. The property of the people is generally to be respected and compensated if they are to be relocated. The Tunisians will be granted their own police forces. The Tunisians will not be subjected to any cruel or unusual punishment. The new establishment, however, does go out of its way to turn Tunis into a potentially profitable colony specifically by connecting the city into major trade routes for slaves, African and Middle Eastern trade goods, and also the market for Belkan goods to flow this direction as well. Surprisingly this year multiple groups of opportunistic traders take residence along the coast forming the North Africa Trade Company which puts roughly 150 Belkans in Tunis permanently having settled.
    • Papal Dip: The Papal States are open to the negotiations, and open up the borders to allow the Belkans to attack Italy from all sides.
    • Many sides, many sides.
  • Scandinavian Empire: King Eric, passed away from a heart attack his grandson Alexander II succeeds the throne, a tall handsome man Alexander was more of a scholar then warrior he commissioned a Royal College to be built in Riksdale. He also sends 2000 men to "help" the relocation of the Catholics in Bremen to Arcadia.
  • Riviere D'Argent: Santeria continues to grow in popularity as well as mesquite populations. Horatio Duvalier creates the first "House of Santeria" which acts as a clerical and supervising body for the religion, in New Marseilles. He quickly gains a following as he performs magic acts, spells and rituals. Duvalier quickly gains influence and joins the New World Congress. Catholics continue their war on Santeria as they believe it is heresy and attempt missionary work with much resistance. A branch of Santeria, mainly adhered to by African immigrants and al Maqadas Berbers known as Voodoo becomes more popular in the south of the viceroyalty. The Voodoo practitioners are much more volatile to outsiders and become more of an ethnic religion than a universal religion. Hans Amen, a charismatic Uruguayan, gains a following as he proclaims that "new technologies have brought sin" and that people must return to pre-medieval ways of life in order to be saved during the apparently imminent second coming of Christ. His beliefs are viewed as utterly insane by most, but he gains a small and devoted following. Viceroy Hugo Martin begins implementing a series of measures to keep down resistance. This involves stating police battalions in every neighborhood, increasing surveillance, and making more arrests.
    • Papal Dip: The roaming court of the Holy Inquisition makes its way to Riviere D'Argent, and after making a thorough investigation of 'Santeria', delivers a judgment: Whilst taking part in traditional customs and rites is permitted per the 1682 encyclical Plane Compertum, it would appear that Santeria, in its present form, goes beyond that, and is suspect of heresy. The creation of a separate 'clerical and supervising body' indicates that the Santerians consider themselves not part of the Catholic Church, and thus ipso facto schismatics. The Court advises the local Catholic authorities to promote authentic Catholic forms of inculturation of traditional practices in order to compete with the Santeria. The Court also delivers a judgment on Hans Amen, declaring that whilse his teaching that new technologies have brought sin is not incorrectly, the conclusions he draws from that fact are heretical and unworthy of belief.
  • Empire of Uluru: Art and music continue to be developed across Anangu, first developed in Ngarridjeri and spread to the court nobility in the tributary states. The central library at Ngarridjeri has the complete collection of literature produced in Anangu thus far. The Moornoon class of clerics continue to be trained at Uluru and spread across southern Anangu. Economy continues to grow with more farmlands spread and more ships for fishing created. Kangaroo Island is fully annexed as a province of the Empire, placing a local Bakhan to rule it. The central banking system regulates the spread of Taro in the nation, and the wealthiest taro-owners emerge. The wives and concubines help to raise the sons of Yannathan at Ngarrindjeri. The Yolgnu continues, as the troops under Dickadick's command occupies the lands of Yolgnu in the north as far as the coast. They now circle back to begin besieging the cities along the border to the hinterlands.
  • Cologne: After a long three years of war, Archbishop Ludwich is devastated. The Holy Roman Empire is in ruins, and his Imperial Synod (which he was Archbishop-Patriarch of) has been decimated at the very least. He hopes that potentially one day the peoples of wider German lands will begin to listen to him again; in the meantime, he has nothing to do but work with the ashes of what is left. The consolidation of the Rhineland League and the leadership of Joachim Englebert is met with much joy and much trepidation. Cologne and Essen, as already part of the Rhineland League, make it clear that they are joining. Furthermore, Archbishop Ludwich sets the University of Cologne to work on a potential Constitution for the Rhineland League. The general feeling amongst these small states is that, even after the ruin of the HRE, this might be a more effective system: if every state has a vote, rather than just the electors, it will be fairer in general. As the University of Cologne works on this solution, Archbishop Ludwich attends the Conference meetings, on the Council of the Rhineland League, and is one of the few attendees who is able to calmly make sense of this situation they find themselves in. He also invites Englebert to involve himself in the potential makings of a Constitution in the University of Cologne, along with any other relevant stakeholders.
    • Essen: Adelphinian Canonesses are horrified by what has happened in the war with Belka, but pray day and night for all the lost souls of the brave Kolsch and Essenian men who died in battle. The people of Essen and Cologne remain wary of Belkan influence, and the people of Essen continue to mine as well as they can given the lack of manpower. Some canonesses even find themselves assisting with the flow of the trading system. Canonesses continue to attend any and all congresses in Arcadia, and continue to look at these systems with their philosophical perspectives learned from the University of Cologne. The councils in New Netherlands, New Germany, Tondo and Essen are now fully functional. Meanwhile in Tondo, a bastard, orphan, son of a Tagalog woman and a German man joins the Order of St Adelphina with aspirations to become a priest. He is particularly good at numbers and accounting, but also very keen to learn of all this philosophy coming from the University of Cologne and the University of New Essen in Arcadia. Aleksander Zimmerman. His name is Aleksander Zimmerman. And there’s a million things he hasn’t done, but just you wait. Just you wait.
  • Jin dynasty: Using the roads of the Great Khanate, five hundred dignitaries (mainly scholar-officials) traveling via horse are sent to tour Europe for a year, and to represent the Emperor. These emissaries are sent to Vasiligrad in Belka first, then to various locations in the Papal States, before finally ending up in Iberia. The dignitaries are instructed to transcribe and study the cultures of Europe in order to enrich the knowledge of the West and add the texts to the Chinese imperial libraries. Many Western scientific texts are circulated due to Jesuit missionaries. This intrigues many scholar-officials, who begin evaluating their own knowledge of science and alchemy. However, such knowledge is not incorporated into the national curriculum and imperial studies/examination, the bulk of which is the study of Chinese philosophy, history, and the principles of law. Science and alchemy are often downplayed, as the focus begins to shift to mass-producing and distributing already-existing technologies. Rule in the Mongolia Commandery is stabilized, and a ruling class of Sinicized defectors is made. Missionary activities are undertaken by the Holiest Procurator of the Heavenly Teachings (or otherwise known as the Eastern-rite Church) in Southeast Asia. There are talks within the Eastern-rite Church to merge with the Catholic Church under the basis of promoting and further their missionary activities. However, there is a problem; the Church's rejection of the Trinity (in favour of Unitarianism) and thus affecting the divinity of Jesus Christ, usage of and reference to Confucian texts and rites, Confucius' status as a divine messenger, and most importantly, the interpretation of God as an impersonal monastic absolute principle (rather than a deity) and "Heaven" being described as a state of enlightenment and unity to "God" following self-cultivation or contemplation. Due to these heresies, many dismiss the plausibility of the Catholic Church accepting to candidacy. Furthermore, the Emperor, whom himself is a member of the Church is against this, though he has no official say in the Church's policy due to the policy of secularism. The policy of militarization continues to be pursued, with shipyards, arsenals, and industrial facilities dedicated to producing armaments and other military-related objects being built. Due to the increasing size of industrial facilities, living quarters are built to accommodate the increasing pool of labourers. Meanwhile, many chaebol begin enacting various limits to the amount of labourers to avoid their minimizing their profit due to paying wages. Basic sanitation continues to be promoted: public bathhouses, spas, latrines, and sewage systems are all built. Adequate irrigation alongside other projections such as mass distribution of pluviometres and water gauges create an increase in the productivity of agriculture. To facilitate transportation and growing mercantile activities, paved roads are built. Commercialization and the division of labour continues, resulting from a heightened demand for commercial goods from both the domestic and foreign market. Noticing the increasing usage of arable land, the Emperor begins allowing the importation of agricultural goods from its European trading partners.
    • Nivkh Commandery: Tiger Pastries Inc., a subsidiary of Lady Lin Tea, continues to flourish as a business. The Nivkh Prince-Governor (which is the member of the Nivkh Ayzik branch of the House of Kim) continues to adopt Korean and Chinese architecture, paving roads to facilitate transport, and replacing wood and thatch roofing with stone bricks and clay tiles, respectively.
    • Sakha (protectorate): The Khan continues to adopt Korean and Chinese architecture, paving roads to facilitate transport, and replacing wood and thatch roofing with stone bricks and clay tiles, respectively. Siberian crab-apples become a local renowned fruit, and is particularly prized in Korea and northern China.
    • Xizang (protectorate): Lhasa, the capital, is expanded and modernized. The Tibetan clergy continues to administer the protectorate, with its leader, the Dalai Lama, being considered a vassal or substitute monarch. Many Tibetans are encouraged (via financial incentives) to become more sedentary, with food instead being supplied from nearby Sichuan (thereby reducing over reliance in inefficient herding).
    • Port of Nangang: The Emperor decides send more emissaries to the Angu peoples and peripheral tribes in Haegajang in-order to enrich the knowledge of their culture, while sends more colonists to cement the colony of Nangang from any tribal intrusions. Mixed-racial children continue to be orphaned and sent to the Angu.
    • North Mongolia: Yurt is populated with 5000 residents, out of the total of 90,000 residents.
    • Papal Dip: A number of Immaculata [ATL Jesuit] priests, who have studied Chinese culture and religion, write to the Holiest Procurator expressing their willingness to help bring the Eastern-rite Church closer in line -theologically speaking- to the other Christian denominations.
  • Papal States: Many in the States are glad to see Italy being pummeled by Belka. In the middle of the year, most of the delegates for the Parlamento have been selected, and so the Pope officially opens its first session. The first motion passed by the assembly is to allow the Bishops to send 'Parliamentary Vicars' (who must be clerics) to represent them in the Parlamento, allowing them to remain in their dioceses. Secondly, the members discuss the Belkan invasion of Italy. Whilst many are in favour of invading Italy, others point to the dishonour involved in breaking a treaty, as well as the current sorry state of the Papal army and finances as reasons for not getting involved. Eventually the sides come to a compromise, and advise the Pope to open the Papal borders to Belkan troops. The Pope accepts the advice, and makes it so. In other news, the Pope receives the request from Hawaii, and grants the King's request. The Apostolic Prefecture of Hawaii and Polynesia shall be subject to the Bishop of Edo, Giapan (as that is the closest established Catholic authority), and shall have Kawaiaha'o Church as its Prefectural Seat. The newly-appointed Prefect Apostolic, a member of the Immaculata Order, is sent to Hawaii, and instructed to take some Japanese priests with him to solidify the Mission. He takes with him a gilt crown for the King, as a personal gift from His Holiness.
  • The Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot: Our country is still unable to find a King for the moment. So we ask Again all western powers If they want one of their royals to become king of our Kingdom (PLAYERS RESPONSES).With the inability to find A king some in the National Congress look to the option of an Elective Monarchy. We also send ambassadors to Iberia and the Vatican to look if they can help us get a good king who will aid our country (Vatican and Iberian Response). Our sheep farmers keep breeding more sheep for clothing so much so that woolen clothing is becoming the most getable clothing.
    • Kingdom of Bremen: Olaf offers to go to Mzerka and seek out the Kingship
    • Iberian Diplomacy: In an attempt to sway the politics of Mzerka, Iberia supports a mixed-race Mzerkan and member of the National Congress named João Manuel as a candidate for the Mzerkan throne. Despite his relative unimportance, João Manuel's legitimacy is strengthened by his Iberian blood and education in Nova Galiza. He also claims descent from one of Mzerka's oldest noble families (although this might be a fabrication). The lack of other suitable candidates, however, propels João Manuel to prominence.
  • Jaffarid Sultanate: Acceptance of religion continues.
    • Eastern Rum: Sultan Kazak continues to urbanize Eastern Rum, with the capital of Erzerum becoming the location of diplomatic meetings and other goods.
      • Sidenote: Busy. Not enough time.
  • Iberia: Seeing the Italian League weakened by the Belkan invasion and unable to protect its dependencies, Iberia seizes the opportunity to retake Sardinia and re-establish a sphere of influence in the Mediterranean Sea. A force of 10,000 troops supported by 30 ships invade the island, meeting an army of about 3000 Sardinians outside Cagliari. The Sardinians perform poorly in battle due to low morale, having already endured an Italian invasion a decade before. Their army is decisively defeated with few casualties to either side, as many Sardinians either surrender or desert the ranks rather than continue to fight. The Iberian army marches into Cagliari unopposed, receiving the surrender of the city and the kingdom. The Sardinian populace, however, having greater determination than the puppet government, threaten to rise up in revolt if the island is annexed, and so it is given autonomy as a vassal. Five regiments from the expeditionary force are offered in service to the Papal Army for the next five years. With Russian settlement in Alaska evident, there is a renewed effort to colonize Alta Califórnia. Gavriel de Villafrecha assembles an expedition of nearly 200 men, commanded by Luys de Avalos, Sérgio Neves, and Hortun de la Cerda (veteran of the Alaska expedition), to explore and settle Alta Califórnia, and establish a settlement at Indian Bay. The expedition is divided into several sea and land-based groups, which in total include four galleons and their crews; a company of infantry from Iberia; a company of cavalry; numerous missionaries, settlers, and other "civilians"; a cartographer; a surgeon; and about 30 Indian interpreters. All groups converge on Santo António (San Diego) early in the year, and build a defensible stockade around the site of the former mission and colony. Unexpectedly, there is no conflict with the Kumeyaay Indians, who are perhaps pacified by the presence of Iberian troops. After the main expedition departs, the new Santo António mission is founded by Franciscan missionaries. One ship that was damaged on the voyage is left in Santo António. The expedition travels up the coast, visiting the Los Angeles River, which is claimed as part of the Alta Califórnia colony. Monterrey Bay is rediscovered, and the old settlement is now aged after its abandonment 17 years ago. Although the explorers merely visit, a place is marked for future settlement on higher, firmer ground overlooking the bay. In October, the expedition finally reaches Indian Bay. Sérgio Neves conducts trade with the Mzerka and other natives, discovering the existing Mzerkan settlement on the tip of the bay. Luys de Avalos names the Mzerka-inhabited area Alacant after a place in Valencia. The area where the Iberians landed is named São Francisco by the Franciscans. Some missionaries remain with the Mzerka to found a mission at Alacant, while the other groups return to Santo António. Overall, the expedition is successful in extensively charting the coast, bays, and overland routes of Califórnia, and restoring Santo António. The coast of Califórnia up to Mzerka territory is claimed for Iberia. Maranhão continues expanding along the Tocantins and Araguaia rivers and into Maranhão, Tocantins and Piauí. Nova Lusitânia expands down the Arauca, Casanare and Meta Rivers. Settlement and expansion of Mêcicipi and Texas continues.
    • Mzerkan Diplomacy:We just want to let you know that OTL San Fran has my capital city on it and that the whole bay is actualy under my our control
  • Sultanate of Cyprus: Although sicker and sicker, Sultan Kamil is able to introduce the first part of his new code of laws. Copies of it are sent to all cities of the island, and some are also stored into the Great Library of Nicosia. Although incomplete so far, it still make justice more fair for the general population and should allow a little more freedom for the population. Due to his health problems, many suggest to Kamil that he should name a Grand Vizier to help him in his tasks, but so far the Sultan refused, citing the problems caused by the power of the last Grand Vizier, Rafeed Mu'sad Sarraf.
  • Pueblo Confederacy: Minor wars break out with the Apache tribes. A monastery is established in the southern Rocky Mountains to combat heresy. The pueblo of Isleta is surprise attacked by the Comanche. The Comanche disregard their earlier treaty (OOC There is no way the Comanche would stop raiding the Pueblo for more than twenty years). Our armed forces are mustered and a force of 8000 is mustered at the Comanche border and we request the Iberian aid in our war with the Comanche. Additionally we ask for our own Cardinal.
  • Ququququ: The Koito reform continues and as the Ququququ nation is finally stable enough, the outlying tribes are contacted in order to induce them into the Union. (basically, slow map expansion, approved by Feud). The Japanese contact continues, and Ququququ continue adopting children born of interracial relations in the Jin port, in order to avoid the infanticide. With a solidified rule the Ququququ are now a most formidable force in the region, with infrastructural advancement putting them on a higher level than any other tribes, as well as their linguistic unity. Moreover, the Ququququ slowly organize their military and begin creating better weapons compared to their non-organized neighbours, using metals such as iron, with guidance of the Nangang emissaries. As the nation is much more stable right now, the Ququququ begin outreaching to more tribes, preparing their next step of expansion as the Council notices the Japanese and Jin superiority compared to Ququququ, so they understand that they too must expand in order to develop.
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: claimed territory in New Germany is settled. Patagonië expands 50 px north along the coast. Guyana expands 50 px inland. King Frederik passes away this year, and his succeeded by his son, Rogier vun Brandenburg-Bourgogne, who take the name Rogier I. In response to the message from the Rhineland League, King Rogier decides to agree. Burgundy withdraws from the Holy Roman Empire and ally's with the Rhineland League. He sends his brother, Karel who was overall commander of the Burgundian armies in the last French war, to help with training and modernizing League armies that require it.
  • Hawaii: The representative from the Papal States is received this year and oversees the finishing touches on the nation's new church. In general Christianization increases all across the islands. Colonization and settlement of the southern islands and Marshall Islands continues.
  • Russia: Erik Zhilov plays at Tsaritsyn, which in spires a group of teens to form what they call, Luzhayka. The band, however, needed a second guitar. They would find Dzheff Bek who's guitar playing goes well with the singer Dzhim Makkarti's slide guitar/flute playing. The group begins to produce many songs like "I'm a Man", "Shapes of Things", and "Heart Full of Soul." Novortuhenia and Tuvov are expanded down the coasts. Captain Gorbachev sails down and for evidence, plants a Russian flag in a narrow inlet (OTL Bodega Bay California) to demonstrate Russian capability. Captain Gorbachev enters Indian Bay and trades with the natives for supplies on the way back. Gorbachev makes it back to Fort Resnov. From missions into the interior of Alyeksa and conversations to Orthodox Christianity, the Alyeska Regional Governor offers the native tribes in the Aleut region of the Aleut Peninsula equal representation in local politics, and equal rights, in return joining Russia (Mod Response).
    • Cilicia: (Never declared its independence officially). Russian soldiers continue to train the army. Kebab Removal continues.

A Yonglu priest somehow stumbles on Christianity, declares himself a Cardinal and sends an owl to the Pope requesting confirmation of his Cardinal status (no he doesn't, this is a joke, just like some requests to suddenly gain a lot of theocratic power via priests)

The Woolly Rat Councilman begins capturing woolly rats around Mount Bosavi and breeding them.

The Bishop of Bremen, Karl Marx "the Grouch", leads the people of the city on a march to the house where King Sven is living. They demand that he surrender the crown and leave Bremen or they will kill him. The people of Bremen are prepared to lay siege to the palace.

In Scandinavia, Haroldson advises the king to send him to Bremen where he can deal with the problems, as he is a Catholic and can connect with the Catholics.

The new Caliph in Cairo asks the Jaffarid Sultanate to transfer control of the Two Holy Cities to the Caliphate in the name of Islam.

  • Jaffarid Sultanate: Sultan Tahir is reluctant at the moment to transfer control of the Two Holy Cities to the Caliphate, but comes around in the later part of the year and officially transfers control of the Two Holy Cities to the Ecumenical Rashidun Caliphate in the name of Islam. Literature becomes overly focused on Belka for some odd reason, possibly due to them occupying Western Rum and numerous rumors going around about them essentially "defeating" Europe. Possibly more later.
  • Riviere D'Argent: Viceroy Hugo Martin continues to crack down on Santeria and the New World Congress. During a house bust by the police, Francis Bolivique was almost killed and forced to flee the country. Francis seeks refuge in Belka (Belkan Response). This greatly angers many revolutionaries and republicans who begin protesting in the streets and form revolutionary militias to protect their towns from the French police. Horatio Duvalier, head of the House of Santeria, publicly denounces the colonial government but he is not attacked due to his high status and influence. Cornelio Savadefq cuts off contact with Hugo Martin and his spies and retreats into the jungle where he raises an army. This army and other revolutionary republican armies become known as Guérrilleros and quickly gain support native peoples in the jungle. Jean St. Martin, Hugo Martin's brother-in-law, begins criticising Hugo's ways of governing and wants to liberalize the colony. Jean St. Martin quickly gains popularity as Hugo's popularity wanes due to his inefficiency.
After two years of fighting, the Yolgnu are made a vassal of the Empire, thus unifying the entire universe under the great Emperor of Heaven and Earth. After many long years of great reforms, charismatic leadership and all-around niceness, the incredibly strong and handsome emperor Yannathan dies in the arms of Elanora, his favorite wife. His body is ceremonially burned according to the customs of Tjilbruke. The former imperial harem, filled with both the concubines of Wako and Yannathan, are released from the court to be its own commercial brothel in Ngarrindjeri. Most of the Sons of Yannathan are grown now, and go on to become powerful and influential nobles in various parts of the Empire. Some, however, are still very young and fall under the tutelage of their mothers, mostly Elanora and Yackandi. According to Yannathan's will, Bambam his nephew is made the new Emperor, annointed with Ochre at the White Chaple of Uluru by the High Dreamspeaker. Dickadick, commander of the military, is made Bambam's viceroy.
  • The Kingdom of Hungary: King Zoltan Sartesi or Zoltan I begins his reign. Seeing the worrying situation with the massive Belkan empire that surrounds him, he begins taking an isolationist standpoint and begins closing off Hungarian borders and increasing the military and police force. Istvan Rigo, a revolutionary inspired by Belkan republicanism, starts the Hungarian revolution movement. He gathers several aristocrats to make up the leadership of his "Free Hungary" and creates a peasant army in the mountains of Hungary that basically act as bandits. Zoltan I begins taking control of the church and aristocracy and consolidating his power. More guns and gunpowder are produced and many more soldiers are conscripted to build the army. Zoltan I also begins building various cities and encouraging people to settle there as opposed to being farms.
    • Belkan Dip: We offer Hungary a pact of non aggression on the basis that the Belkas have no issue with Hungary and the fact Hungaries current independence can be more or less attributed to the Belkan invasion of Austria.
      • Hungary: The King, fearing Belkan influence, agrees to the non-aggression pact in exchange that no belkans or belkan propaganda enter his country.
  • Dravidia: The sericulture industry is established around Mysore with technological improvements coming from Bengal. Implementation of Chinese technology improves sugar production while French technology is adopted in carpentry and smithy. State factories are established for the production of firearms, cannons and gunpowder. Dravidia wishes to establish state trading depots in Arabia, Swahili, Gujarat, Malaya, Java and Sumatra. (PLAYER RESPONSE). The state monopolizes the mining of gold, silver and other precious metals. The textile, shipbuilding and steel industries develop and are provided incentives by the state. Manufacturing industries grow as many factories and workshops are established in the cities. The three-field crop rotation system spreads to the Deccan areas and the entirety of the West coast, coupled with an increased use of the Malindi plow, increases food production and more people start moving to the cities to get employed in workshops set up by master artisans. The growth of the shipbuilding industry coupled with the clearance of forests has led to an increased use of lignite and coal as a fuel source. Catholic missionary activity continues and the missionaries are especially active in converting tribal people and people in other isolated areas, while the people in the lower strata of Hindu society convert readily. Catholic missionary activity is camouflaged by the revival of Dravidian folk religion and intense mixing of Dravidian-Hindu religious ideas. The Gurukula system spreads and Gurukulas are established. There is an increase in employment in dairy and poultry farming. The Dravidian cuisine has combined the similarities of the different cuisines with an increased consumption of poultry and dairy products. The Chettinad cuisine remains untouched.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot: The National Congress creates in our Capital city of Lucentum an Iberians quarter where Iberians can live and bring their culture, way of life and technology to Our people. These Iberians are exempt of taxation if they live in these areas OTL Mission district. With the Return of Iberian contact even more priests Convert back to catholicism and they ask for the popes forgiveness for their deeds(Papal response). The sheepfarmers with not enough sheep and with the aging of old sheep make a dish where a big part of sheep meat is put on a skewer and then backed while being rotated. The National Congress of the Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot had a vote on whether to change to an elective constitual monarchy or to keep staying an authoritarian hereditary monarchy. The votes were 79 votes for the authoritarian hereditary monarchy and 146 votes for the Elective constituanal Monarchy. So they adapt the Elective Constitutional Monarchy as a way to rule the country.
    • Papal Dip: The Papal Nuncio to Western Arcadia willingly accepts the apologies of the reverted priests, and after admonishing them, sends them on their way. A young permanent Deacon, Matteo Orsini, son of a Roman count, offers himself as a candidate for the Mzerkan crown. He is married to a Mzerka woman (he married before his ordination as a deacon).
    • Mzerkan Diplomacy: We will accept Matteo Orsini's candidature to become king if he accepts the the limitations placed upon Mzerkan Kingship like: Not being able to veto any laws into existence, having to step down from from all other political offices and roles, that kingship can't be passed to his other generations and that after his death or resignation a new king will be elected for the country. He will be able to Control the whole army during war and the ability to send Catholic missionaries.
  • Papal States: Noting the increase in the numbers of nations with their own cardinals, and noting the need for the traditional cardinal nations to retain their seats, Pope Innocent IX makes the decision to add four places to the current College, which, including the seat for the Copts, brings the number of cardinals to 21, and thus raises the requisite number of votes to be elected to 11. The Pope makes these changes official in a bull, Cardinalibus Novus. To fill the four new places, the Pope begins by raising Karl "the Grouch" Marx to the Cardinalate, as well as the Japanese Bishop Hiroheto Shirashema of Edo (who may either reside in Rome, or choose to be represented in the conclave by a vicar of his choosing who will reside in Rome). In other news, the Belkan successes in Italy are greeted with joy. The Parlamento continues its role, and by now all the delegates have been elected or selected or deputised. Missions continue, especially in Zulu lands.
  • Scandinavia: Oskar is sent to Bremen to speak with Marx the Garrison to Oldenburg along with another 5000 men are sent to rescue King Sven. Offering to send food and water to the mob. (mod response) In the mainland King Alexander is worried of the reports of an Uprising the land his grandfather took not ten years ago is fighting viscously against the Kappelist Scandinavian crown. He offers to make two independent kingdoms a Kingdom of Bremen ruled by a Catholic (Puppet) and the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg ruled by a Kappelist (Puppet).
    • Bremen demands freedom. Oldenburg, on the other hand, is more amenable to Scandinavia. -scraw
  • Sultanate of Cyprus: The health of Kamil is failing him, and a regency council is put into place to help him govern. The Sultan died on 18 October 1771, dying at the age of 39. Although most of his reforms are left unfinished, his enlightened and reformist style of rule was somewhat popular, although some of his actions (like siding with the Turkish immigrants over locals or not helping during the famine) weren't. Still, he will be remembered more fondly than his brother Saif. Having no sons, Kamil is succeeded by his younger brother, the third son of Saif, the 33 years old Mufaddal. Sultan Mufaddal began implementing an agricultural reform to help feed the population and fix some of the problems the farmers suffered during the reign of Saif. Although good willed, many believe that his lack of experience in government could lead to the failure of such reforms.
  • Belkan Federation: Under the auspices of attempting to re-establish the Imperial monarchy and attempting to reverse many liberal reforms and re-establish absolutism with the advantages of the conscription system, Petar declares himself the Czar of all Belka and claims imperial suzerainty over all the clients of the Belkan Federation. This, however, does not go well as even his Personal guard is unwilling to see such a dictatorial monarchy re-established. In a quick and relatively bloodless coup Petar is removed from Power by the Military who declares their loyalties to the Republican ideals and government. General Brusilov in the confusion with the attempt of the Vozdh declares an interrim Vozdhship and seizes control himself. However being the most decorated general of the South German and Italian campaigns, Busilov is able to secure the support of the Elder Field Marshall Vasilev, and Yanevski who both agree military government will reign for a period of six months while a new Election is held. Brusilov in an attempt to make good with the extremely dubious Belkan Congress and judiciary system agrees he will not run for Vozdh and an election takes place. The election sees the first instances of the developing political parties in Belka. The Isolationist Kamarovite Party demands a withdrawal from all the conquered Territories while the expansionist Slavicist party claims that while the militaristic expansion on the continent was somewhat fuled by the irrational anger and midirected aggression toward the German states. the Slavocist party wins roughly 65% of the votes with victorious candidate Boris Tuchevsky claiming clear victory. With so much having happened voter turnout is huge with nearly 78% of all voting able males taking part in the election. The clear victory of the Slavicist party leads to many of their government policies being implemented quickly, specifically in regards to figuring out a more manageable situation to the effective empire the Belkan generals have built in Europe. With the referral by King Von-Staufenberg the Belkans agree with his judgment and split off the Rhenist territories into the independent Kingdom of Swabia, so as to sit on the Rhenish league without being an outside actor in Germany (even though this technically leaves Belka as the outside actor but interest is somewhat low). The interest, however, in turning Belka into a colonial power becomes a much more interesting prospect with the acquisition of Tunis and the offshore islands. This leads to two things, first the effective reorganization of the Greek confederations oversight committee into something more akin to a colonial government and the organization of Tunis to be recognized as a colony as well.
  • Swahili: We continue our agriculture policies and adapt more plants to the Swahili climate. The army continues convincing contracted servants. We continue colonial expansion in Northern Somalia, in the South and in the Malindi and Mombasa area. Colonisation steadily increase as medicine and weaponry becomes more widespread. Technological advances speed up as a result of the cultural and technological exchanges in the embassies. New warship designs are planned. We move around 40,000 soldiers near the Zulu conspicuously to force Bakla to divert part of his army to defend against possible Swahili invasions.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep continues development.
    • Sefuwa: The colony of Sefuwa continues the construction of a port.
    • Huriya: Swahili culture is brought by merchants and diplomats.
    • Rowzi: Mosques are constructed to help spread Islam. Swahili culture is brought by merchants and diplomats.
    • Swahili Diplomacy: We send economic and arms support to the strongest faction opposing Bakla.
  • Iberia: Enlightenment philosophy grows in Iberia, coinciding with the publication of the first encyclopedia, although such ideas have been in circulation since at least 1710, when João II unified the Iberian monarchy and reformed its government. In response to Russian activity on the Mzerkan coast, Iberia sends a second expedition, led by Pirro Salugarate, to more thoroughly claim the Pacific coast. He first visits Bodega Bay, landing at Porto de Salugarate (OTL Bodega Harbor), which he deems a more suitable location for a port than the inlet (Tomales Bay). He continues north, exploring the coast and inlets of Alta Califórnia and Oregon, and further charting the Bay of Vilafrecha (Bucareli Bay), where he names numerous islands, before returning to São Brás due to bad weather. Iberian naval patrols and privateers in Califórnia are ordered to capture any Russian explorers or ships near the Mzerkan coast that are encroaching on Mzerka's (and, by extension, the Iberian Empire's) sovereign territory. A fort and mission are constructed at Monterrey by Sérgio Neves, a company of soldiers, and the Franciscan friar Bonifacio Hernandes. The port of São Brás, Iberia's main naval base in the Pacific Northwest, is developed, now housing a fleet of five galleons. The Leti archipelago is claimed as part of the Iberian East Indies. Jacó do Sequeira, conqueror and Governor-General of Goa, dies an elderly man. His son, Jorge Sequeira, had taken over most of his duties as he grew old. However, as viceroys and governors are appointed based on merit, not inheritance, Jorge Sequeira recommends one of his close friends for appointment and enlists in the navy. Maranhão continues expanding along the Tocantins and Araguaia rivers and into Maranhão, Tocantins and Piauí. A fort is built at OTL Boa Vista, Roraima, to protect Iberia's claims to the Rio Branco. Nova Lusitânia expands down the Arauca, Casanare and Meta Rivers. Settlement and expansion of Mêcicipi and Texas continues. Fur traders ascend the Cumberland River and establish a trading post at OTL Nashville near a natural salt lick. Iberia supports its allies, the Choctaw, against Burgundian and British expansion in OTL Mississippi. In other news, an earthquake strikes Lisbon, causing some structural damage to the city.

Another day another Ice Barrier SupremeSensualSamrāṭSky 22:00, August 23, 2017 (UTC)

The Ququququ Woolly Rat Councilman continues breeding his woolly rats, giving them names such as Qu, Ququ, Quququ and so on. He gains prominence among the Ququququ for his dedication. However, many still dismiss his ideas of a rat army as absurd.

A Mzerkan baker named Abraham Philip Hupa has a vision of an Angel, warning him that the Catholic church is corrupt, because the truth of salvation was given to the Mzerkan Jews ages ago. However, the Mzerkans too had forgotten about the Gospel of Jesus when they returned to their Jewish roots, so it's up to Hupa alone to revive the Christian Church.

The profession of actresses become very popular in both France and Britain.

Oskar Haroldson arrives in Bremen and promptly poisons the brothers Hardrada. He offers all of their men safe passage back to Scandinavia, which they accept. Those who refuse are defeated in battle. Haroldson is celebrated as a liberator by the people of Bremen. As the new ruler of Bremen, he proclaims Scandinavia's occupation at an end and joins the Rhenish League.

  • Pueblo Confederacy: An emphasis is placed on orthodoxy within our realm. Minor skirmishes erupt along the Comanche border. The reconstruction of Isleta continues. We implore our Iberian protectors to aid us in our war with the Comanche. Our army is 8000 strong and consists of 40% cavalry, 10% gunpowder units and 50% foot warriors. Provisions are amassed for the oncoming campaign. Settlers push north in the Rocky Mountains. European science and technology is studied and in some cases instituted.
    • Iberian Diplomacy: 120 men are sent from the Free Company of Volunteers of Catalonia, and 80 from the Mountain Fusiliers, to quell the Comanche disturbance. They join their Pueblo allies' campaign alongside ~100 militia (unprofessional) troops.
  • Sultanat Al-Ja'fariyyah: Sultan Tahir ali Baaligh is announced dead following a Cicilian immigrant assassinating him. The House of Jaffar meet to decide his successor, in which they decide to pick Zuraara Rais AKA Iron Kilab. His first venture begins with not allowing anymore Muslim immigrants into Arabia proper, and instills that Eastern Rum take then instead. Literature becomes overly focused on Belka for some odd reason, possibly due to them occupying Western Rum and numerous rumors going around about them essentially "defeating" Europe. Acceptance of religion continues.
  • Hungary: The Free Hungarian Army continues to gather support among peasants and continues to sabotage Hungarian roads. A bomb is thrown at the king's cart, but he survives. The king continues to grow paranoid and declares war on all things "modern" except for stuff in the military and transportation stuff. Enlightenment books are burned and secular establishments are took over by the church. The King officially closes his borders. Oskar Sartesi, Zoltan's brother, begins to be interested in theology and becomes a renegade monk, travelling around the world.
  • Rivier D'Argent: Hugo Martin is forced to resign due to unpopularity and is replaced by Jean St. Martin, his brother in law. Jean St. Martin creates several courts and legislatures and institutes law systems based on traditional French laws. The courts are very prejudiced against those with non-French ancestry and doesn't really appese the revolutionaries and guerrilleros. If anything, it allows the peaceful revolutionaries to gain greater support through the law systems. Jean St. Martin allows Francis Bolivique to come back from Belkas. Bolivique, having learned from serving in the Belkan military and mingling with Belkan intellectuals, becomes more experienced and recruits several lawyers to help out mesquites and natives who can't represent themselves in court. This allows Bolivique to gain more popularity as he becomes a household name. Horatio Duvalier compromises with the colonial government and asks practicioners of Santeria to stop resisting the government for now. Jean St. Martin begins various efforts to colonize the lands between the bottom of Riviere D'Argent to the amazon rainforest. These lands are officially made the claim of France and we send out several settlers, almost filling out OTL upper Argentina.
  • Russia: Tuvov is expanded 10 px down Inlet. Novoruthenia is expanded down the Aleut Peninsula 10 px. Captain Gorbachev sends a letter down to Iberian California, saying that Russia claims all territory north of the Columbia River. Of course to show this Fort Resnov (OTL Vancouver) is turned into the colony of Svytaoy Avraam (Saint Abraham). The Novorossiyan Governate is formed bassing itself in Cinigrad. It soon begins a naval order of 30 ships. The government offers the Aleut tribes of south Aleut Penninsula to join the Russian Empire in return for equal rights and representation (Mod Response). (Possibly more to come)
  • Cologne: The University of Cologne, in conjunction with the Joachim Englebert, establishes the Rhineland League or Independent League of Rhine States, setting up a Constitution and Council of Rhine States in which every state receives an equal vote. This is thought to be significantly important because of the states’ previous situation as very small Holy Roman Empire states. An election for the first Rhenish Kaiser is due to be held in 1774, after a brief cooling-off period. Meanwhile Archbishop Ludwich himself is very busy keeping everyone calm after the very dramatic changes that have rocked the German peoples. Further, the Rhineland League welcomes Bremen.
    • Essen: This year, disaster strikes the Adelphinian Canonesses in Tondo. A hurricane – or typhoon, or cyclone – strikes one of the main churches and schools set up by the Canonesses. Young Aleksander Zimmerman is devastated and writes a letter to Abbess Marie of Essen with a detailed account of the hurricane and how it has affected him and the other young people living in Tondo. When Abbess Marie receives the letter, she is astounded by the generally-uneducated 15 (or 17) year old boy’s passion and way with words and offers him a place at the University of New Essen in the hopes that he will assist with the difficulties facing Tagalog peoples in Arcadia. Meanwhile, the Tagalog Canonesses start to rebuild. Zimmerman arrives at the University of New Essen by the end of the new year, and begins to study all of the things he was not yet able to study at the small school in Tondo. Meanwhile in Essen itself, the industry surrounding the mines is appropriately flowing with the help of canonesses, and Canonesses in New Arcadia continue to attend miscellaneous congresses.
  • Empire of Uluru: After the death of Yannathan, the production of new culture begins to slow, but instead much more is disceminated from Ngarrindjeri to the rest of the Empire. Music, art and literature is spread to the various vassals and tributaries to be more homogenous in the nation. The one main exception is the new vassal Yolgnu, which mixes the Anangu culture with their own, taken to be very strange and alien to travelers that far north. Emperor Bambam considers himself a great patron of infrastructure, and continues to increase more farming of arable land and and expanded fishing technology around Kangaroo Island. Dickadick, however, is concerned for the military of the nation. Currently, the standing military of the empire solely exists to enforce rule over the feudal lords over the vassalized nations in northern and central Anangu. Should the empire not expand, internal strife over the military could occur. For now, he sends the largest fishing ships northward from Yolgnu into the Arafura Sea, exploring the Wessel Islands as far as Raragala. Mathematics begins to expand much more in Ngarrindjeri, developing the first stages of geometry.
  • Papal States: With payments to the defeated Italians stopping, the government is able to spend more money on domestic issues. The military and the road network are given the bulk of the money, on the advice of the Parlamento. Deacon Matteo Orsini agrees to Mzerka's requests, and soon gains permission from his religious superior to take the Mzerkan kingship if it is offered to him. Missions continue in the New World, China, Japan, Hawaii, and the Zulu lands.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot: Matteo Orsini is offered kingship of our nation under the Royal name of Matteo Orsini Augusthino Diltwa by the National Congress. After this, they also ask the Papal States to recognise the ideas of Abraham Philip Hupa as Heresy.(player response). The National Congress suspects that the Yurok and the Karuk tribe are aiding this heresy by giving him Weapons and trained wariors in our country to devide our country and lower the defence of our country. So the National Congress demands the Yurok and Koruk to allow Christian missionaries and Mzerkan soldiers into their country to investigate this.(Mod response). The Congress hears from local reports in his region that he is killing Christian priests and gearing up a small militia of people to get the army on their side to force conversion to all Christians and to expell any foreign influence. His ideas are mostly based around establishing a land for the Jews and forcing the tora on everyone.
The Sultan prepares a series of programs to elevate Swahili culture, including a giant mosque in Dar Es Salaam. We send economic and arms support to the strongest faction opposing Bakla.
  • Sultanate of Bengal: The Indian renaissance begins signified by a group of students of the Hemgarh University who ask a simple question to themselves "Why Jizya?" These students, coming from poor peasant families organise themselves and debate on the topic of Jizya and religion while keeping their discussions secret. Parts of the country are hit by a severe drought which leads to a severe famine, the worst that the people have seen in the past 30 years or so. In such a time the young radicalist Sultan, who has just been crowned Sultan after his father's death, increases the Jizya amount feeling that a reorganization of the military and the navy is the need of the hour. The people in the rural areas protest and this also leads to communal violence which is promptly suppressed by the army. The young Sultan issues a series of decrees, reforming the army and the navy and limiting the higher posts to the nobility. He also issues a decree disallowing the raising of armies by nobles without the permission of the Sultan. An embassy is sent to China, with gifts for the Emperor, asking the Emperor of China to help in modernising the Sultanate of Bengal, in establishing a strong bureaucracy and improvement in technology to help the people of a loyal tributary state to the Chinese Empire (Candies Response Please).
    • China refuses to directly and explicitly-aid Bengal, but offers to establish preferential trading agreements (such as lowered tariffs) and provide free tuition for Bengali scholars to study Chinese law, philosophy, and politics in Chinese universities, from then they can amass resources to kickstart their own modernization.
  • Iberia: Naval patrols in Califórnia capture the Russian vessel carrying Gorbachev's message, but send it back to Alaska once the message is relayed. The Russian ship returns with a message of refusal from Gavriel de Vilafrecha, claiming Iberian sovereignty as far as the Porto de Vilafrecha (Bucareli Bay) off Prince of Wales Island. Thus, the coast between the southern tip of Baranof Island and the mouth of the Rio de São Roque (Columbia River) is clearly disputed, with both Russia and Iberia claiming sovereignty. As evidenced by Gorbachev's letter, however, any Russian claims south of the river have vanished, and indeed, Iberia has abandoned its claims north of Sitka as well, with expeditions revealing Russian settlement as far as Unalaska. Meanwhile, Pirro Salugarate explores the coast of Vancouver Island and Nootka Sound as part of another voyage, performing certain "acts of sovereignty" to claim it for Iberia. Perhaps unaware of the extent of the island and the Russian settlement across the straits, he names the west coast "São Miguel". Settlement and expansion of Mêcicipi and Texas continues. Maranhão continues expanding along the Tocantins and Araguaia rivers and into Maranhão, Tocantins and Piauí. Nova Lusitânia expands down the Arauca, Casanare and Meta Rivers. Iberia offers a treaty with Burgundy to delineate the border between Iberian and Burgundian colonies in Laurentia, and resolve any territorial disputes. The treaty is to be signed in Cartagena (Treaty of Cartagena).
  • Hawaii: Expansion in the southern islands and Marshall Islands continues, as well as missionary efforts in Hawaii. In Polynesia the Hawaiian sponsored kingdoms begin dividing many of the independent islands to the east of the main states.

Another day another happy today SupremeSensualSamrāṭSky 22:01, August 24, 2017 (UTC)

The Ququququ Councilman's woolly rat breeding program continues to be a success. He soon attempts to teach them how to battle. Some incidents occurr.

Aluets accept Russian rule.

Yurok and Karuk accept Mzerkan inquisition.

  • Empire of Uluru: Music, art and literature continues to spread to the various vassals and tributaries, creating a more homogenous culture. In the vassal of Yolgnu, however, the Anangu culture is mixed with their own. Emperor Bambam continues to increase more farming of arable land and and expand fishing technology around Kangaroo Island. The military is downsized, but fitted with more elite warriors under the leadership of Dickadick's closest officers. This new military, centralized under the Emperor's discretion, is deployed internally to keep the lords in check. More moornoons are appointed by the Deamspeakers of Uluru to administer local faith communities. Mathematicians of Uluru and Ngarrindjeri begin taking regular obversvations of the stars, believing them to be reflections of divine forces. The primary conclusions of these astrologers is that Emperor, like the sun, is destined to rule solely over all living creatures. This year, Dickadick allies with the vassalized King of Yolgnu, on behalf of the Emperor utilizes their sailing technology to explore farther north. An expedition in winter goes halfway up the Arafur Sea.
  • Sultanat Al-Ja'fariyyah: Sultan Zuraara, the first officially Sultan to have no political background in his family and nearly zero political affiliation in his life, begins his role by creating the first official newspaper funded by the government, titled Fox News (بخء ىثصس) after his tamed best friend, an Arabian Red Fox. He declares the former Sultan Muhammad's reforms as a step in the wrong direction for Arabia, and announces that Arabia will no longer be accepting of both immigrants and religion. This draws large opposition by both the House of Jaffar and the general populace of Assyria, however, gains large support from the citizens living in Arabia proper. Books continue to be produced on a large scale. A Muslim immigrant from Russia prior to the closing of the borders brings with him a guitar.
  • Riviere D'Argent: Jean St. Martin continues his political reforms, unwittingly giving more power to the revolutionaries as he allows more people to object and think for themselves. Horatio Duvalier continues writing various books about the practicing of Santeria and begins issueing watches and seals for high practicioners, creating the foundation for a secret society of high priests. Temples are built in several towns in Riviere D'Argent where there are high priests. Francis Bolivique continues gathering support from both lawyers, peasants, and guerrilleros in the jungle. The New World Congress meets again they launch several propaganda campaigns to gain support among the people. Several unfair trials are had, most famously, the case of Hugo vs the City of New Marseille in which a poor Santerian mesquite worker, Jean Hugo, went up against a Catholic landlord who was clearly giving unfair service. Despite being defended by the lawyers and basically winning the case, the aristocratic, French, and Catholic judge voted in favor of the landlord. This causes uproar as Jean Hugo is put in prison. "Freedom for Hugo!" or "Liberté für Hugo!" in Laurentian French is made a popular slogan of the revolutionaries.
  • Hungary: The King and the nobles all agree on wanting to "Hungarianize Hungary and Kick Out the Foreigners". Oscar Sartesi, having returned from a year in solitude, writes a mystical book on holiness and the corruption of the Catholic church. The book becomes extremely popular among the nobles and the increasingly xenophobic populace. The Free Hungarian army also begins adopting some of this and begin talking about "making a better, republican Hungary". The borders of the country are closed even more as farms and cities are built to make Hungary self sustaining.
  • Sultanate of Bengal: The 'Jizya Question' spreads to the universities in Gaya, Patna and Kalinga. The question arouses interest in the study of religion. The 'Jizya Question' remains unanswered but a deeper study of Hinduism and its history is initiated. Meanwhile, the Sultan sends a group of handpicked scholar-officials to study the ways and philosophy of the people of China. After the army reforms, the army is organized into divisions and a line infantry division of around 6000 men is raised. The young Sultan plans a campaign to conquer the western states and for this purpose, an army of 250,000 men is prepared.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot: Our army marches into the territory of the Yurok and the Karuk with Christian missionaries on their side. They try with these actions to remove the heresy of those countries with stoning the leader of the heresy. This is done so that no judaist rebelion and uprising will happen ever again in our nation. The National Congress also begins to put laws in to make judaist temples illegal in our country and make that they will be made into hospitals and schools. The National Congress begins to claim all coastall lands south of the Uyn Bay (OTL Coos Bay, Oregon) to protect Mzerkan and Iberian boats from any danger and to help the trade with the Salish.
    • Papal Dip: The roaming court of the Holy Inquisition in Arcadia confirms that the teachings of Hupa are gravely heretical.
  • Papal States: Basic stuff continues to occur. More money continues to be saved from not paying the reparations to the now-defunct Italian state. The Prefect of the Holy Inquisition reports to Pope Innocent IX on the success of the roaming regional inquistorial courts in the mission territories, and Innocent is well pleased. The Parlamento continues to grow into its role, and some of the MPs start to coalesce into vague parties. Missions continue in the New World, China, Japan, Hawaii, and the Zulu lands.
  • Malaya: A book is published on the travels of a team of expeditioners that explored the untamed jungles of central Borneo in 1692. Despite the prospect of disease and other factors, many are still swayed by the portrayal of exploration in such a form. Within a few years, we expect to have control over majority of the East Bornean coastline and a substantial amount of inland jungle. The expansion force is expected to reach the border with Brunei in a few years or so.
A new warship design begins to be tested. The Royal Academy of Arts is founded to build a stronger Swahili cultural identity. It sponsors several artistic prodigies to travel to Europe, the Middle East and China to learn art. We send economic and arms support to the strongest faction opposing Bakla.
  • Sultanate of Cyprus: Sultan Mufaddal's reforms are seen as a failure so far, mainly due to the lack of efforts put last year to push them, or to push any new policies for that matter. Mufaddal does not lose hope however. Still, the people will want a scapegoat, and he thus decide to fire all of his advisers and take new ones. This big change in the government lead to some instability. Added to that is the fact that the former advisers and their allies aren't too pleased by the changes. They begin to secretly make the population against the Sultan. It doesn't help that Mufaddal starts new reforms without finishing hte previous ones, beginning reforms of the army, the infrastructures, the administration, the economy and the religious organization on the island. Most people don't understand why the Sultan is attempting so much when it is clear he don't have the resources or the skills to finish them all.
  • Belkan Federation: The Belkan officially finalize the split of Swabia and Bavaria allowing a Belkan picked German prince to take up the mantle as King of Swabia. A Constitutional monarchy, the Kingdom follows a more liberal model following many of the established constitutions in the region. The Belkan Army remains in occupation of the Italian league as the last corners of the territory are effectively catalogued and added to the occupation schedule. The Belkan economy with multiple captive markets and highly attractive trade power effectively controls trade in the Eastern Med once again and wealth once more flows into Belka. This is even more apparent by the direct africa port in Tunis which allows for a forward base of operations for the Belkan Eastern Med Company which in true aspects a coalition of Trade companies, they all pool in to the defense and expansion of Tunis. With the potential of a Maghrebi Reprisal on Tunis the Belkans garrison fortifies the city heavily, putting cannons on the repurposes ancient city walls, and upping the Garrison force to 15,000 with a 20-strong Naval Squadron assigned as the cities naval complement including three massive 122 gunships of the line. The Belkans and Czechs spearheaded by the new Vozdhs of both nations enter into further economic and trade agreements as in contrast to the reluctant Germans they see Belka and Russia as Slavic brothers in arms and see the German led HRE as an age old detriment to the well being of the Czech nation. The heavily independent culture of the Czechs does wonders for the beginning of the formulation of a national identity.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: There is a continued growth in industry of textiles, iron manufacture and further construction of canals to allow the movement of raw materials such as coal and food. Textiles grows with innovations such as the Spinning Jenny in Britain. England has 7.1 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.8 million, Wales has 0.6 million, Ireland has 3.3 million people and Scotland 1.1 million. The British army has 3000 in Portsmouth, 3000 in Aldershot, 2000 in Scotland, 3000 in Ireland while 2000 in Arcadia, 2000 in Casablanca, 1000 in English Maiam, 1000 in Haiti as well as 500 in St George, St Helena, New Canterbury and Bay of Kost. Joseph Priestly isolates oxygen in the air. Agriculture continues to improve both in crop yield and number of employed.
    • British Arcadia: With new land opportunities opening up leading to settlers being willing to move from Europe and claim land and a continuing rise in the wages of British people leading to higher demand for Arcadian cash crops leads to more people moving out west. There is a continued rise in the importation of labour as greater efforts are made to source volunteers from Africa, Europe and Asia under the control of owners. This growing immigration to Arcadia combined with the Frontier Act of 1773 encouraging those already settled in British lands to move out west allows 50 px into the Colony of Alabama which is OTL Alabama and Tennessee heading for the east banks of the Mississippi. Foodstuffs are exported to Britain for cheap prices due to lower land and wage costs.
  • Russia: In a meeting with colonial representatives and the Novorossiyan Governate, make sure a speech saying "The times over the Great continent in which we choose to settle in the name of fortune, god and the holy trinity, we can't refuse to acknowledge, this "Great Game" with the Iberian Empire in Arcadia." Representatives are sent from the new Aleut territory in the Aleutian Islands and the Southern Aleut Penninsula. (Bassicly the aleutians and the Aleut part of the Alaska peninsula should be on the map as Russian). With thuan new territory, Novoruthenia expands inland on the northern part of the peninsula. Tuvov expands along the inlet coast. Fur trappers begin to take large interests in the number of coves and inlets in the Pyotr Archipelago. Captain Gorbachev sails to Saint Abraham to begin his hunt for the Sasquatch on Ostrov Saskvach (Sasquatch Island OTL Victoria Island). The Occupation of Poland starts to come to an end. Savinkov begins to start plans for diplomacy with Prussia, and starts to consider an alliance between Russia, Prussia, Hungary, and Belka.
  • Iberia: Under orders from the Viceroy of Nova Galiza and the Califórnias, Pirro Salugarate leads another expedition to Nootka Sound with two ships from São Brás. He establishes a settlement at Nuca (Yuquot), and constructs a fort nearby, called Fort São Miguel, to protect the settlement. The fort is mounted with several artillery pieces and garrisoned with about 60 men. The island (OTL Vancouver Island) is marked on maps as the Island of Salugarate. Maranhão continues expanding along the Tocantins and Araguaia rivers and into Maranhão, Tocantins and Piauí. With the signing of the Treaty of Cartagena, Iberia claims all of Amazonia and cedes certain claimed areas in Guyana to Burgundy (see treaty page for details). Three settlements are founded on the Uraricoera River, and one on the Branco River, within the new territory of Roraima. Further settlement of the Arauca, Casanare and Meta rivers in northeast Nova Lusitânia occurs, but Dutch colonists are allowed to remain on their land if they wish. The settlement of Arauca is founded, becoming the principal settlement on the Arauca River. Nova Lusitânia expands its claims into the western Amazon. In the East Indies, the Babar Islands are formally annexed by the Iberian colony, although the terrain is unsuited for settlement.

Another day another woolly rat, enjoy SupremeSensualSamrāṭSky 22:05, August 25, 2017 (UTC)

The Ququququ Councilman explores the idea of breeding stronger rats in order to reduce the amount of training needed. Hilarity ensues as he ventures to Mount Bosavi to find finer specimens.

On a Ququququ-related note, the Bilibil traders under the Ququququ union encounter an unknown presence in the sea to the south. After a long series of not understanding each other, the unknown seamen are finally identifed as Uluru. (This event is subject to further editing/refining).

  • Salish Nation: Traders have noticed a record amount of European vessels in the area. Feeling threatened, we request Mzerka send us weaponry and drill us in its use. With our already existing army, we launch an expedision to subdue the natives to the Mzerkan border, and continue making the other tribe's children live with our people until the age of 12. Also, to administer the territory, we begin clearing and leveling an area of land as a path to the Mzerkans. In Dwuamish, a dock is built to accommodate Mzerkan ships. We also officially adopt Orthodoxy as our religion. The council of our government passed a law, saying that only Salish and Mzerkan people are permitted within our borders (Barring Europeans from our land).
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot: The National Congress directly claim Yurok and Karuk Tribes and annex them by keeping their local chiefs into place as mayors of their biggest cities. And by Keeping a small Mzerkan army in their lands to keep any rebeling from happening. Their Army is also required to swear loyalty to Matteo Orsini Augusthino Diltwa. The National Congress begins to open more of lucentum to Iberian immigration to greaten the bond between our two great nations. Our workmen also begin to build more boats again for the navy that are meant to ship goods instead of men to increase trade with the Salish nation. The National Congress also begin to pass basic human rights into our nation like that a men has always the right to defend himself from actackers if not justified properly, the right to own property, the right to practice the Christian religion openly everywhere. Many Mzerkan state flags begin to slowly having the brown go slightly darker over time with the stripes except for the chipmunk which remains begin light brown.
  • Sultanate of Maghreb: The Ruling Sultan Yusuf, son of Amin Ayoib, dies abruptly during the start of the year, leading to a power struggle by his two sons, Yazid and Ahmed. While Yazid has the support of the military and Berber nobility, Ahmed is popular with average Maghrabi citizens, due to his experience as a merchant. After a consquential meeting of the Parliament of the major nobility and former advisors of former Sultan Yusuf, Yazid is crowned Sultan of Magrehb. Yazid's first order of business is to establish the Maghrebi Amazigh Tradin Company to replace the defunct Islamic Colonial Company. The Company immediately begins working on establishing trade relations with West African Kingdoms and the establishment of Quasi-Magrehb colonies along the coast (MOD Response). The Sultan requests a meeting with the Belkan Ambassador. Along with that, the company begins preparing for expeditions to Laurentia and North America, to re-establish the former colonies of the area. Sultan Yazid orders a series of decrees, reforming the naval fleet and expanding its size. Despite this privateers and poor merchants continue "Barbary Piracy," attacking and raiding European Powers's ships sometimes even subsidied by governmemt advisors. To settle the Tunisian Question, the Sultan sends an envoy to Belka. The Sultan offers three solutions, Belka purchase Tunis for 50,000 Dinar, Magrehb purchases Tunis but allows exclusive rights to Belkan Citiznes there or Belka rents Tunis for 50 years. A New, albeit more Conservative, Enlightenment Movement starts in Fez, spread by Enlightened Scholars in the region, with Sultan Yazid being one of its largest advocates, it proves to be popular with the general populace. It also sees the rebirth of Tamziaghism, an obscure art technique popularised in Tunis. Magrehbi Islam, the reformist Islamic movement, goes into decline and is limited to the social elite of Fez and Casablanca. As the Slave Trade grows many cities begin to have a sizable Black population, especially around areas in Tripolitania. The Former Lord Regent is executed. The Sultan requests an alliance with the United Kingdom to protect the nation.
    • I used to play as Maghreb and the Sultan isn't really the one in charge, it's a Great Leader named the Lord Regent who basically has pseudo-dictatorial control. They also have an ideology of their own and a book if you read the previous turns as Maghreb. Squidzo's meat house (talk) 23:37, August 25, 2017 (UTC)
    • Belkan Dip: We will pay Maghreb for Tunis over a ten-year period with an installment every year to spread out the cost
    • Magrehb Dip: The Sultan accepts and hopes that this can lead to the renewal of the Magrehb-Belkan alliance.
  • Riviere D'Argent: Jean St. Martin continues his political reforms and also begins raising an army out of mercenaries imported from mainland Europe. St. Martin visits the French King and asks if the king can visit New Marseille to boost morale in the colony (French Response). Francis Bolivique continues gathering support and recontacts Cornelio Savadefq, who has been raising a large army in the jungles. They make an alliance. Horatio Duvalier continues building temples of Santeria and Santeria surpasses catholicism as the majority religion in Riviere D'Argent. The Resident Papal Nuncio becomes extremely worried and contacts the pope to ask for an OK on an inquisition to get rid of Santeria (Papal Response). Mary Leruoix, an revolutionary and advocate for women being treated equally as men, opens a law office in New Marseille to help out women and unfortunate people. The law office grows as many revolutionary lawyers join. Another controversial trial happens, known as Bourdeaux vs The City of New Normandy (Sao Paulo). In this trial, Hadrien Bourdeaux, a Voodoo priest, was leading a mass in the town square, and was arrested by local police for public indecency. The lawyers put up a valiant fight and the result is unfortunately, 50 years in prison for Mr. Bourdeaux, although the result is highly contested and seen as corruption of the court system.
    • Papal Dip: The Nuncio is informed that the Inquisition already condemned the teachings of Santeria in a judgment in 1770, and it is now up to the civil authorities to deal with him and his followers as he sees fit. [OOC The rise of Santeria seems to be going waaay to fast.]
      • Riviere D'Argent: Upon receiving this news, the Nuncio launches a census to find out exactly how many Santerian practicioners there are. He finds out that the numbers previously reported were extremely overblown (probably on purpose to make the Santerians seem a bigger threat). The Nuncio decides to launch an inquisition akin to the OTL Spanish one next year.
  • Hungary: The King and nobles become increasingly xenophobic, banishing the local papal representative as he is a foreigner. The King orders that the entirety of the Hungarian military be stationed around its borders to guard them, making sure nobody gets in or out. Ex-Monk Oscar Sartesi decides to start his own "pure Hungarian church" which is supported by the king to give him more direct control over the church. Several nobles also agree with this and the movement becomes known as the Sartesian Movement. The movement grows among the nobles. The Free Hungarian Army begins to lose popularity as the king becomes increasingly autocratic and tyrannical. The king orders the burning of all books save the bible and books he approves of. Books on modern medicine, enlightenment thinking, and other "foreign things". The King also orders that all the workers of all the nobles be set to build a massive wall around Hungary, handing out high positions in government and other incentives to those who do.
    • That's too fast -Nate
    • I don't think that's possible -Nate
  • Empire of Uluru: Music, art and literature continues to spread to the various vassals and tributaries, creating a more homogenous culture. In the vassal of Yolgnu, however, the Anangu culture is mixed with their own. Emperor Bambam continues to increase more farming of arable land and and expand fishing technology around Kangaroo Island. The military continues to be reformed. More moornoons are appointed by the Deamspeakers of Uluru to administer local faith communities. Mathematical astrology continues to be formalized, now fully understanding the heirarchy of the Emperor's rule on earth symbolized by the stars. Having encountered these travelers from Bilibil, Dickadick decides to send an expedition of 28 fully-armored warriors on sailing boats across the Arafur sea to explore where these people originated from. The primary goal of this expedition is to determine if these people are substantial enough that they belong under the rule of the Lord of the Universe. Dickadick is especially interested in trading the nation's ochre in exchange for flutes.
  • Ququququ Diplomacy: Ququququ greet the Uluru expedition, brining woolly rats, and other natural resources as gifts. Noticing the equipment of the expedition, the Council concludes that the Uluru must be very oriented toward expansion. However, from what they could understand, they also require trade, hence the government offers the Uluru an agreement to establish friendly trading relations.
  • Russia: Novoruthenia is expanded inland on the Aleut Peninsula. Tuvov is expanded down the coast. Tiny fur trading outposts spring up in the Pyotr Archipelago. In order to save the Hungarian people from total destruction at the hand of the "Mad Barbarian" Oskar, Savinkov orders 250,000 troops to launch a campaign into Hungary and work with the Free Hungarian Army against the mad king. The commanding General Ivan Pyotrovich settles on a certain Prince Istvan as the new king of Hungary, and consults with the Free Hungarian Army. Savinkov sends diplomats to Prussia and Belka about the idea of the "League fo Eagles." (maybe more to come)
    • Hungary Dip: The Free Hungarian Army deploys its full force of 1000 elite soldiers and 5000 peasants who sabotage various important roadways and bunkers of the Hungarian army. General Zoltan Bathory, a high commander of the Hungarian Army, defects and sends an envoy to the Russian about an alliance that will install Zoltan as ruler once Oskar is taken care of (Russian Response).
    • Papal Dip: The pope endorses Russia's wise invasion of Hungary, saying that the insane king wanted to destroy orthodox Christianity and destroy all knowledge.
The new warship is ordered and built in major shipyards. As some art students return, they brought with them Western thinking. Their new style of art quickly become controversial as it seems to violate many Islamic codes. We send economic and arms support to the strongest faction opposing Bakla.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep continues development.
    • Sefuwa: The colony of Sefuwa continues the construction of a port.
    • Huriya: Swahili culture is brought by merchants and diplomats.
    • Rowzi: Large parts of the Rowzi population now accepts Islam. Swahili culture is brought by merchants and diplomats.
  • Belkan Federation: This year a new constitutional convention is convened spearheaded by legislators and the new Vozdh Mikhail Paraskevka sits down with the legislators and Brusilov as the enforcing bringing nearly 20,000 troops to secure the city from another coup or overthrow of power from a Vozdh. This is somewhat unsettling. However after many talks the legislators agree that removing certain powers and sectioning them off into congressionally secured and granted emergency powers. The military budget is also something that is considered and many congressmen of the Duma agree that while the Vozdh is the de facto leader, budgeting and allocation of money for the military is something falling into the realms of the Duma. This is done as a limiter to executive power once more, as well as to mitigate the costs which were accrued during the South German campaign. This leads to a mass sale of excess arms to the many clients of Belka specifically the Czechs which remain new and staunch supporters of Belka. Vozdh Paraskevka refuses to intervene in the Hungarian issue and moves troops to the border to prevent any conflict from spilling over.
The Ququququ, surprised by the Uluru discovery open themselves up to the idea of more and more unknown regions of the world. The long deveopment of the society is fruitful, as the Ququququ are now on a much higher level of progress compared to other tribes in the area, some even going so far as to decline calling themselves tribal anymore.
John Wilkinson patents a method for boring cannon from the solid, subsequently utilised for accurate boring of steam engine cylinders. Jesse Ramsden produces an advanced circular dividing engine with the support of the Board of Longitude.
In addition the Northwest territory is established with claims staked out in OTL Pennsylvania and more immigrants establishing farms creating a clear border. Foodstuffs are exported to Britain for cheap prices due to lower land and wage costs.
  • Iberia: Mêcicipi expands into Henrique's Land (or Henriqia) along the Mississippi and Missouri rivers, and Texas expands into the interior. Iberia claims the western part of the Cumberland River around the trading post in OTL Nashville. The mission at OTL St. Louis grows into a larger settlement called Santa Maria. Another settlement is built near OTL St. Charles, called São Pedro. The Iberian settlement at São Francisco in Mzerka territory (south of Alacant/Lucentum) is expanded after the arrival of new settlers. The area also becomes the site of a Franciscan mission. Maranhão continues expanding along the Tocantins and Araguaia rivers and into Maranhão, Tocantins and Piauí. In other news, Iberian Morocco's population is now "Iberian" by a large majority.
  • Papal States: The Immaculata obsertavories publish some interesting discoveries about stars and comets. The Parlamento has settled into its role well, and continues giving the Pope advice on the temporal rule of the States through the Secretary of State (who is President of the Parliament). Missions continue, especially in Zulu lands.
  • Jin dynasty: A permanent embassy is established in the Ququququ capital to aid their "modernization". China begins adding various European theological, philosophical, and scientific texts to imperial libraries, partially aided by Immaculata missionaries. A twelve-volume work detailing the phonology, grammar, and distribution of European languages - particularly Slavic languages such as Belkan (and its various dialects) and Russian, as well as Romance languages like Vlach and Italian. The Holy Trinity is adopted, and the divinity of Jesus Christ is accepted. However, Confucius still retains his status as one of God's messengers. The policy of militarization continues to be pursued, with shipyards, arsenals, and industrial facilities dedicated to producing armaments and other military-related objects being built. Basic sanitation continues to be promoted: public bathhouses, spas, latrines, and sewage systems are all built. Adequate irrigation alongside other projections such as mass distribution of pluviometres and water gauges create an increase in the productivity of agriculture. In addition, agriculturalists begin promoting the usage of compost (made from excess/leftover vegetable matter) to further boost productivity and yield. To facilitate transportation and growing merchantile acitvities, paved roads are built. Commercialization and the division of labour continues, resulting from a heightened demand for commercial goods from both the domestic and foreign market.
Many Tibetans are encouraged (via financial incentives) to become more sedentary, with food instead being supplied from nearby Sichuan (thereby reducing overreliance in inefficient herding).
    • North Mongolia: Yurt is further settled. A healthy aquaculture industry is established, harvesting and raising fish from Lake Baikal.
  • Jaffarid Arabia: Sultan Zuraara, while in the city of Baghdad on a trip to see his grandfather, Rajab, would enter the house to find his grandfather and his grandmother stabbed multiple times. While this occurs in the main living space, a man wearing nothing but black robes would be waiting behind the corner, carrying a large sword, would come around and stab Zuraara, ending the life of Iron Kilab, the last Avenger. The man is promptly beaten up and taken back to Damascus and tortured by various members of the House of Jaffar, using methods from ancient Egypt. Not only is it discovered that the killer was a member of the A'ddar terrorist organization, and learns that they currently have territory all across Hejaz, as well as are being supported by wealthy nobles in Persia, Swahili, and Russia. The terrorist is then properly executed in front of the capital building. Upon learning about this information, we begin mass conscription of able bodied men who had finished puberty. Sending large divisions of these men to Hejaz, the leader of the House of Jaffar, Asim el-Jaffar, proclaims himself Sultanate of Arabia. He starts large revolutionary acts, such as re-locating citizens to Nadj and around Qatar and Oman as a means to urbanizing the vast emptiness and promoting the economy through local businesses rather than a few, large businesses. Sultan Asim then begins to prepare for an invasion of Persia as a means of "cleansing the bad people from the world". Conscripting over 350,000 men, the Sultan orders numerous merchant boats in Qatar to hold 20,000 troops each, and sends the fivee ships to invade large coastal cities of Persia. Due to Iran sending large amounts of its general army to the cities in an attempt to combat the large numbers of Jaffarid troops and liberate the coastal cities, Sultan Asim leads the charge into Persia, occupying much of the smaller villages and cities within only few days time. Due to much of Persia wasting their time on a few coastal cities, the Arabian troops are able to efficiently come and siege Tehran within an intermediate period from when they began to invade Persia to the beginning of the siege have lasted a total of six days. The Jaffarid Infantry is split up into eight divisions of 31,250 soldiers in an attempt to attack critical parts and to partial surround the city. Neighborhoods and palaces are ascended into the depths of hell as they begin to be filled and covered in the paint of Arabic men, women, and children. The leader of Persia, found in the bathroom of his luxurious palace, is properly killed within the middle of the fight. Upon the death and the near occupation of northern and western Persia, the Jaffarid Infantry is ordered to effectively kill the remaining royal dynasty as a means of ending the general dynasty and their ruling over the lands of Iran. The invasion would last no longer than a few days, and would not only defeat the Persian government, it would effectively eradicate the ruling dynasty and establishing Jaffarid military presence in most of the Middle East. With the eventual surrendering of the remaining Persian military, Sultan Asim established the Sublime Sultanate of Persia. Hossein Qoli Khan of the Qajar family and allies of the Jaffarid Clan would be given the role of Sultan and would properly become a vassal of Arabia. After this occurs, Jaffarid presence in Iran continues, and is expected to move its entire Infantry from the region by 1800.

The Ququququ woolly rat breeding program doesn't show much prospect for official military use, but the Bosaviman (formerly known as Council man of Ququququ) insists on the superiority of a woolly legion, so he secludes himself from the rest of the nation high on Bosavi mountain.

The Italian League offers to surrender to Belka. All vassals in Italy are relinquished, and the colonies are returned to Africa except the city of Tunis. Part of the occupied territory are signed to Belka for their use.

A large earthquake strikes the Iberian peninsula.

  • Riviere D'Argent: The Papal Nuncio goes to Viceroy Jean St. Martin, asking him to give him personnel and approval for him to launch an inquisition on the Santerians. The Viceroy, fearing the already precarious position that they are in with the santerians, refuses to aid the Nuncio. The Nuncio then asks the pope for 500 men to serve as inquisitors loyal the papacy and 500 men from knightly orders to round up heretics and act as a religious police force (Papal Response). Francis Bolivique continues gathering support and founds an organization with Horatio Duvalier that is part of the church of Santeria that will help out poor families and build schools and temples in poorer areas. This organization is named the black star after the symbol popularly used as a good luck charm in Santeria. Santeria continues to spread through this program to poorer areas. Hans Amen, the radical luddite priest, opens up a church on the outskirts of New Silesia, the capital city of Uruguay, and has solidified a large following who build a 14th century style town around the church. Hans also makes a rule among his followers that they must all name their children after people in the bible. Ezekiel Amen, Hans's 20 year old son, travels from town to town in Uruguay, spreading their beliefs. Followers of these beliefs become known as Amish people after Hans Amen.
    • Papal DIp: The Papacy does not have 1000 men to send. The Papacy recommends that the local Catholic hierarchy focus on active proselytism, education and works of charity, in addition to denouncing the Santerians at every turn (and lobbying the government to crack down on them).
      • Argent Dip: The Papal Nuncio asks for 100 men instead and will get the rest as mercenaries.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot: The Yurok and Karuk tribes are integrated into our our country and the army begins to slowly go a bit north to protect it borders. We also keep Southern Lucentum open for Iberian setlers to give them better homes and freedom to create technology. The last believers of the heresy of hupa are jailed and Sir Hupa is handed over to the priest of our region. King Matteo Orsini Augusthino Diltwa begins begins to make a royal banner and a naval one for the nation to make boats better recogniseable with their flag, and the royal flag is meant to show the loyalty to the king.
  • Cologne: The Rhineland League holds its first general election for the position of Kaiser. (Belkan Response for Swabia; Mod Response for Everyone Else) The Council meets early in the year and refines further things about the constitution of the Rhineland League. Meanwhile in Cologne itself, a university theatre is built and some particularly talented men and women put on a satirical show about the Enlightenment and Neoscholasticism.
    • Essen: In New Germany, Aleksander Zimmerman is having a fantastic time at the University of New Essen, and forms a small literary society with some fellow undergraduates. However, his main strength remains that he is good at responding to others’ arguments. He follows the Adelphinian Canonesses one summer to study other parts of the New World: he learns about the slavery in British Arcadia, studies the cases of Jean Hugo and Hadrien Bordeaux in Riviere d’Argent, and examines the validity of Hupa’s claims in Mzerka. Meanwhile, Tagalog canonesses in Tondo continue to rebuild. In Essen, industry is flowing very well and the coal is being traded very efficiently through Cologne.
      • Argent Dip: Francis Bolivique personally meets with Aleksander Zimmerman while travelling abroad and invites him to the next meeting of the New World Congress in 1776.
  • Hungary: With Zoltan Bathory defecting and working with the Russians, the Russians are allowed to literally march into the capital without a fight due to Zoltan having primacy over most of the army. King Oskar is hung in the capital square for all to see. The first Hungarian Congress convenes in the former palace to decide what to do. The Russian General who invaded and some Russian Diplomats attend, Savinkov is invited. The Free Hungarian Army leader is also invited as well as General Zoltan Bathory and Prince Istvan of Yelsopest, a man picked out by Savinkov to be the new king. (I will be making a page for the convening of the congress in which how Hungary's government is run will be decided). Oscar Sartesi, the mad monk, kills himself when the Russians get to the palace doors.
    • Papal Dip: The Pope sends a special envoy to the new Hungarian government, humbly beseeching it to restore the ancient position of the Catholic Church in Hungary.
      • Hungary Dip: Hungary is free to let papal representatives and various other Catholics come in and do missionary work, but due to the new Hungary's more secular approach to the world, they will not be giving the Pope's legates high positions in government.
The expedition of Dickadick visits the Ququququ nation, and after being initially terrified by wolly rats, report back to Uluru. The Emperor, seeing this vast nation not underneath his inevitable rule, dispatches Dickadick persionally with an army of 280 men to subjugate the entire island of the Ququququ, equipped with the most advanced boomerangs, swords and horses. The Dreamspeakers, however, are skeptical of this voyage, and is concerned if the Emperor may be showing signs of hubris.
    • Ququququ Diplomacy: Noticing the Uluru with hostile intent, the Bilibil quickly inform the Ququququ Council, which calls on its Councilman in the Mountains. Although the woolly rats are useless when it comes to actual trained fighting, several rabid ones are prepared to be let loose on the Uluru in case they decide to attack. The Ququququ army leader gives Dickadick a chance to return to his lands before they are to be eliminated.
  • Russia: Novoruthenia begins to expand Northward. More fur trappers begin to settle the Pyotr Archipelago and make contact with local tribesmen. Russia's enforced claim of the area falls several miles inland as Fur trappers and explorers go up small tributaries of mountain inlets. General Pyotrvich and his men start to collaborate with the Free Hungarian Army to rebuild Hungary. General Pyotrvich attends the 1st Hungarian Congress, Representing the Russian State. A project is launched to improve the Trans-Siberian Road and start extending it to North Shore and Port Sibir. With the signing of the Hungarian Congress, Savinkov sets up a Grand Conference for the formation of the League of Eagles. The Conference of Novgorod with Prussia, Hungary, Belka and Pontus invited to the meetings.
  • Pontus: King David XII of the House Bagrationi-Komnenos seeks an alliance with the Belkans and Russians and sends his two elder sons Luarsab and Vakhtang to the Conference of Novgorod. To sway the Belkans, he sends his youngest son Simon to the Belkan court to be fostered and warded. During his prayers at the Chapel of St. Gregory the Illuminator in Tblisi, where he is enlightened and decrees that much like they separated from Byzantium, they must now progress into a new age of prosperity and fortune.
  • Scandinavian Imperium: News of the Conference of Novgorod worries Scandinavian Emperor Alexander I, with this news the garrison in Helinski is increased to 8000 Professional troops while 5000 are stationed in Stockholm along with 2000 in Riksdale and 10,000 in Copenhagen. In Arcadia King Alexander tours the colonies meeting with the largest population center being along the coast in southern Vinland. The King states that the Scandinavian Imperium shall reach Lake Superior by the year 1790 with colonists and trading forts, while they will reach Lake Nipogon by 1785. The harbor for the Scandinavian Colonial fleet in Gustavus Town, is expanded the colonial fleet currently consists of scarcely a dozen ships that are lightly manned and mainly used to patrol and fight against piracy. In the Caribbean the islands of St. Johns and St. Thomas expand with St. Thomas reaching 5000 colonists and St. Johns reaching half that mark. In Europa the population of Denmark is around 1.5 million the population of Sweden near five million the population of Norway is two million and the population of Sweden is 750,000. King Alexander begins passing reforms lessinging the power of the Kappelists over the government, where previous King's such as Eric and Gustav have left the church unchecked Alexander is purging corruption as with reforms the Church becomes more like their Catholic counterparts in electing five regional authorities in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Oldenburg. the University of Riksdale is expanding as math and science improves. the Scandinavian Baltic Fleet led by Karl Gustav Fjordson is stationed in Visby and consists of 100 ships, including 30 ships of the line with 70 2nd rates and 3rd rates.
  • Papal States: With the Italians finally surrendering to the Belkans, and the Italian state seemingly fragmenting, the Pope writes to Belka, asking about the post-war settlement on the Italian peninsula. The Catholic hierarchy in China are very interested in developments in the Chinese-rite church. Its recent adoption of orthodox Trinitarian theology makes it far closer to the Catholic church than before. Immaculata priests in China write some essays arguing that as it currently stands, the Chinese church is close enough to enter into full communion. These are published in Rome, and elicit responses from more conservative clerics to the contrary. Back at home, the military is improved. Missions continue, especially in the Zulu lands.
  • Dravidia: The Council of Nobles decides to seize the opportunity and declares war on Balochistan. The Council decided to do so as to reconquer Balochistan and protect Dravidian interests there. The Council and the military command have also decided to sack Iranian cities. An army of 50,000 trained line infantrymen and 30,000 cavalry with 20,000 contemporary infantry carry out the invasion of Uttarangara (erstwhile Baloch capital under Dravidian rule). The invasion is spearheaded by the thousand strong marine corps division of the navy and is supplemented with 20,000 mercenaries. The entirety of the 1st Pirivu, consisiting of 500 ships is deployed along the Balochistan coast to aid in the invasion. Another 30,000 conscripts and 20,000 trained infantry guard the mainland while the overseas units remain on alert. The second Pirivu is also placed on alert. The state nationalizes all steel and iron industries and factories. Weapon standards and calibres are established. The development of cities and culture continues. A group of scholars prepare a series of texts on the history of the Vijayanagara Empire. The Catholic missionary activity is widespread but remains insignificant enough to escape the eyes of the state. It is also properly camouflaged by the revival of Dravidian folk culture which is now beginning to spread into the cities. Demolition and reconstruction of the outlying areas of Kollam is initiated.
The new warship is ordered and built in major shipyards. A new Western and Christianity influenced Islam is preached in major cities, such as Zanzibar and Dar Es Salaam.
  • Hawaii: Colonization and settlement continue, particularly in Polynesia and the Marshall Islands. Hawaiian armed forces are used for the first time in Polynesia to help expand the confederacy, although the majority of tribes/islands voluntarily join the collective. Missionary activities in the island continue now that the church in Honolulu is completed.
  • Belkan Federation: With the war and occupation in Italy ending the Belkan garrison force is withdrawn home and some new policies come into affect. The newest one is the official movement out of Germany hoping to keep all of the conquered nations as associates or allies of some sort the Vozdh relinquishes much of his control on Austria in Particular hoping to keep them satisfied and placated. The withdrawal of Belkan restrictions and a better deal when trading with Belka leaves Austria independent but with its independence guarenteed by Belka. The same process is repeted in Bavaria and Swabia leaving them associated by not under the direct control of Belgrad. the process of militarily and administratively evacuating Germany is expected to take a few years. The Czechs, however, having begun the rebuild of their language lexicon and citing brotherhood with the Belkans and Russian is brought into the League of Four Eagles with clear intent of Czechia siding with its fellow slavs in future conflict. The opening of Hungary, and the establishment of much much warmer relations with Russia effectively solidifies a powerful Trade bloc between these nations, sharing a common interest. The Belkan homefront after so many years abroad with its military withdraws with new deployment and mobilizations plans beginning to be put into place. A new plan is concocted to turn Krete into a fortress. The major cities on the island are all secure and a series of Coastal forts are constructed as to turn Krete into said fortress and also a major naval base. As a result of manpower being freed up via new farming methods and the beginning of mills and such coming into play the Belkan population begins to see a shift in demographics. With many people being concentrated along the Danuber river and primarily in the Bulgaria, Serbia, and Vlach provinces, a new wave of immigration takes place. In order to deal effectively with the demographic shift as well as prevent migration to other nations colonies in the New World, good incentives are made, and the process of leaving Belka for the New World is made bureaucratically complicated so as only a direct congressional intervention or the Vozdh can overrule in favor of the individual or group wishing to travel. Belkan musical talent also expands with the musical culture heavily imitating, syncretically evolving, or borrowing from Russian styles. Belka agrees to ward the Son of Pontus. Belka also officially agrees to join the League of Four Eagles and brings its ally and client Czechia with them.
  • Pueblo Confederacy: We invade the Camanche territory (mod response) { I don't know how to do the Algorithm). Our forces consist of 3000 regular warriors, 1000 Navajo riders and archers, 500 armoured horse warriors, 200 Pueblo riflemen, as well as the 300 strong Iberian support army. We aim to penetrate their heartland and claim one-third of what they consider their raiding ground. Our population has grown to 900,000. Further settlements are established along the Rocky Mountains reaching OTL Estes Park were the settlement of Diyin Dizel (God's Mountains).
  • Ququququ request French and Jin aid in the attack of Dickadick.
    • British Dip: Even though the Ququququ did not directly ask for it. Some British merchants/pirates/explorers take four ships to investigate what is happening and aid the Ququququ in defence of their homeland from natives from Terra Australis.
    • China sends a small fleet of 150 sailors and five ships, all armed with naval artillery, south to deal with the southern people. An expeditionary force is dispatched to investigate the origins of the southern invaders.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: There is a continued growth in industry of textiles, iron manufacture and further construction of canals to allow the movement of raw materials such as coal and food. Textiles grows with innovations such as the Spinning Jenny in Britain. England has 7.1 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.8 million, Wales has 0.6 million, Ireland has 3.4 million people and Scotland 1.1 million. James Watt has his patent renewed and the first production of his new steam engine. Thomas Crapper patents a flushing toilet. Criminals are deported to Arcadia.
    • British Arcadia: With new land opportunities opening up leading to settlers being willing to move from Europe and claim land and a continuing rise in the wages of British people leading to higher demand for Arcadian cash crops leads to more people moving out west. Fearing growing Iberian and Burgundian influence and determined to stake out Britain's rightful claim to Arcadia the British Army and American colonial militia are sent to establish forts on the Mander river (OTL Tennessee River). The British Army establish forts at OTL Savanah and Clifton while the militia at Pine View and Bakerville. Colonists expand 50 px up the Mander (Tennessee) creating farms, ranches and some fishermen on the western banks. In addition the Northwest territory is established with claims staked out in OTL Pennsylvania and more immigrants establishing farms creating a clear border. Foodstuffs are exported to Britain for cheap prices due to lower land and wage costs.
  • Iberia: A great earthquake strikes Lisbon, destroying much of the city in an instant. The resulting tsunami floods the Tagus river and sweeps away the Ribeira Palace along with many other buildings. Other parts of the city are consumed by fires. King Henrique is killed in the destruction of the Ribeira Palace but his heir, daughters and other members of the court manage to escape to the outskirts of Lisbon. Overall, eighty-five percent of the city is destroyed, with a death toll of over 20,000. Although the most severe damage occurs in Lisbon, other areas of Iberia are also affected. Madeira, the Azores and the Algarve are all ravaged by the tsunami. There are significant casualties and destruction in Morocco, too, especially the Iberian part. Tsunamis reach as far as the Caribbean. The empire is in shock and mourning with the loss of its capital and king. The heir, José, is hastily crowned king in Ajuda. During the process of repairing and rebuilding what remains of Lisbon, he considers moving the capital to Madrid.

1776Edit

Another day another turn SupremeSensualSamrāṭSky 22:07, August 28, 2017 (UTC)

The Zulu civil war finally ends when the son of Balkha a baptised Christian taking on the name Solomon claims victory in the civil war officially instating Christianity as the true religion of Zulu

With the Belkan withdrawal from Germany, many German states in the east HRE have a general hatred of the South Slavs who ravaged the region and caused so much blood. Beyond any religious discrimination, this takes more of a form of secular racial prejiduce. The governments of Swabia and Bavaria, and to some extent Bohemia have more nominal favor toward Belka.

Austria, although having lost much of its political control over southern Germany, adopts full conscription and reforms to education. From now on, all males in Austria will be required to take military training as part of formal education.

The Congress of the Hundred votes to limit the flow of taxes to Iberia, diverting much more resources to helping their own nation.

  • Salish Nation: With pressure from Russian traders, we revise our law, stating foreigners may enter our land, presuming they are not armed. We install a Mzerkan-style government, centralizing our rule to a single ruler. The tribes convene to elect a new ruler. After much debating, (Ruler name) is elected.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot: The National Congress of Mzerka and Wiyot invites some of the Maiam leaders of the Congress of Hundred to listen to their wants and their aims (Mod response). Our nations flag is changed to have the brown stripes black this makes better seeable on ships and buildings. The National Congress also founds the "Sejm of the kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot"this political body is meant to be for local afairs in the country and it will also be used as a court system for local problems laws that they instroduce will only count for their territory.
  • Hawaii: Colonization and settlement continues all across the southern islands. Subjugation of Polynesia continues, with the islands east of the main kingdoms of the confederacy being captured. The Rangiroa region in particular is claimed by Hawaii, and a settlement is begun on Rangirora Atoll. Traders in the lands of the Angu-Zia Union report back to chiefs in Komohana that a conflict has broken out against a southern people. Koahou, Kuakini of Hema Pae 'Aina's half brother, chief of Komohana and Majuro, personally sails to the region at the head of a small fleet of war canoes, intending to observe the situation in case Hawaiians in the region, although negligible in population, are harmed in any way, and also to potentially learn about the military tactics of the invaders.
  • Trier: (Note: I'm posting for Todd this one time on his request. ~Non) Alarmed by the recent wars within the Holy Roman Empire and the surrounding area, the devastation in Germany, and the rise of revolutionary dissidence across Europe, Archbishop Clemens Wenceslaus of Saxony repeals all reforms and civil liberties, in favor of strengthening his authority and position (much like real life), repealing the formerly issued edict of tolerance and other concessions. The archbishop retreats to his heavily refitted Ehrenbreitstein Fortress and begins issuing new orders from there, including the training and upgrading of the military. As such he never attends the election for the new "Kaiser" of the Rhineland League, instead opting to send someone on his behalf, having only reluctantly joined the League for his own protection in the first place. His own paranoia turns out to be his undoing however, when in his absense the delegations sent to the Rhineland League assemblies, composed of most of Trier's noble and most richest families, start to act more autonomous. Meanwhile the archbishop begins to lapse in many of his church duties, leading some of his subordinates to take over. A council of noblemen assembles to discuss the governance of the Archbishopric in his abense, essentially becoming the real seat of power for the time being, although still in his name.
    • There are effectively no protestants in Trier for there to be such an edict.
  • Iberia: After the ruins of Lisbon are cleared of fire and debris, José I and his ministers enact a bold plan to build a completely new city and introduce a grid pattern of streets to the Lisbon Baixa (downtown district), retaining little of the original street plan. The new buildings are to be designed to withstand a future earthquake. These seismically protective designs create a new style of architecture unique to Lisbon, similar to the OTL Pombaline style. José moves his court to Madrid, leaving his ministers in charge of the rebuilding efforts. He declares Madrid the new capital of Iberia, and holds a second, more official coronation in the city. Meanwhile, in the New World, the Viceroy of Nova Lusitânia becomes aware of a sudden loss of tax revenue from the provinces across the Isthmus of Panama, and suspects embezzlement by the provincial governors. He sends an official demanding the local congress disband; however, this fails. Eventually, reports of these occurrences and the petitions for autonomy reach the King's court in Madrid. In order to better administrate the region, José separates it from Nova Lusitânia, creating the Kingdom of Guatemala, which includes OTL Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. Although ruled by the Iberian monarch, Guatemala is granted increased autonomy in internal matters (including taxation), now being subject directly to the King of Iberia, rather than the Viceroy of Nova Lusitânia. They are also allowed to locally elect their governor (provided the King of Iberia approves), an unprecedented privilege in Iberian colonial administration. Obviously, the Viceroy of Nova Lusitânia is a bit upset at these reforms. In Tennessee, the presence of British traders on the Shawnee River (OTL Cumberland River) causes the Iberians to abandon the area, unable to compete with the British.
  • Riviere D'Argent: The papal nuncio, along with 1000 german mercenaries, launches a hostile inquisition in the city of New Marseille. Horatio Duvalier is arrested and several temples were burned. This would become known as the Night of Flames in history. This causes a large uproar from Santerians all across Riviere D'Argent, who rebuild the temples that the inquisition destroys. While travelling from New Marseille to New Normandy, the Inquisition is attacked by Guerilleros. Jean St. Martin accuses the Nuncio of treason and asks for him to be excommunicated (Papal Response). At the New World Congress, talks are made about encouraging freedom of religion after the tragedy of the Night of Flames. Santerians across Riviere D'Argent begin actively rebelling against French rule, killing several French soldiers. Jean St. Martin declares martial law, suspending all courts and civil liberties. This causes even greater uproar among the masses, with the Amish of Uruguay also being targeted by the French soldiers and by the inquisition. This causes Hans Amen to align with the Santerians.
    • Essen Diplomacy: Aleksander Zimmerman attends the New World Congress and is internally conflicted about the freedom of religion in Riviere d'Argent, given his own position having been brought up under the Adelphinian Canonesses. However, he sits down to write a long essay or three about it, and promises to get back to the Congress in the following years.
    • Papal Dip: The Nuncio is suspended from his duties for having raised a rebellion.
  • Empire of Uluru: [Let's cut to the chase, the first part of the turn is always copy-pasted anyway]. Viceroy Dickadick sends an envoy back to the Emperor, explaining how he successfully struck down the armies of Ququququ, and used his military to occupy the southern coastline of the island. Dickadick spends the summer (inverted seasons in this hemisphere) administrating over the occupied territory. The people are very strange customs from native Uluru; nontheless, he allows several men to pick out wives from among the captured citizens. Dickadick comments to the envoy that the fighting of the Ququququ have strange weapons as well, which could have the potential of rivaling their own. The military is particularly disgusted by these wolly rats, which are seen as vile rodents compared to the innately beautiful fauna of Uluru. Still, Dickadick mounts his military to invade the rest of Ququququ with his remaining 200 soldiers, crossing into the mountains in spite of their daunting size. He takes various archers and siege cranes to come with him. Rumors are brought that Ququququ has allies on the island or neighboring islands to help him, so Dickadick asks the emperor through the envoy if he needs to consider conquering these people too, should they show up. The Emperor has yet to respond.
    • Japanese Diplomacy to Dickadick's Army: With the Treaty of Bosavi the Ququququ have come under our protection and we demand Dickadick cease his invasion of them. Instead, we propose that Dickadick is the rightful ruler Uluru, and we shall help him conquer Uluru with the Japanese Expeditionary Force.
  • Scandinavian Imperium: Alexander begins mustering his forces near Oldenburg as they make camp, near the border with Bremen. He offers the Rhine League a chance at peace, if they relinquish control of the territory and recognize Alexander as King of Bremen he will let the Catholic majority in the country continue worshiping in the Catholic way. (Player response) The army King Alexander is raising consists of 45,000 professionally trained men along with 5000 hussars and 500 men manning the 50 pieces of heavy artillery. The army lead by King Alexander marches east settling camp for the winter near 15 miles from Bremen, with adequate food and shelter the King awaits the response from the Rhine League. In the New World, an expedition east leads to the discovering of SoI Nord (the Great Slave Lake which is Lake in the North.) However, their main focus is expanding farther into Vinland as they do 15 px and expanding south from Prince Eric's land to reach Lake Svaldson (the name of the royal family) by 1790 they expand south about 8 px. In the Caribbean St Thomas is made up of near 60% peoples of African descent, while many are imported to main land Scandinavia and forced to cut down trees for lumber.
    • Cologne Diplomacy: The Archbishop of Cologne does not take well to this blatant threat on the German peoples. He tells Alexander of Scandinavia that Bremen is an entirely independent nation, and that the Rhineland League does not have control over it; thus, the Rhineland League is not the entity responsible for giving the land over to Scandinavia. That is Bremen's decision alone. Moreover, the Archbishop notes that Bremen has always believed in Northern-Rite Catholicism, which does not differ significantly in form from any form of Kappelism. This, in Archbishop Ludwich's eyes, is a pointless land-grab on the behalf of the invading Scandinavians, and will continue to be met with resistance from the people of Bremen - who are still evidently angry from when they were invaded a decade or so ago by the Scandinavians for no wrong on their part. (Mod Response for Bremen)
  • Hungary: The Vezeto continues various reforms of Hungary. He opens several universities and gives incentives to any nobles from other league of eagles countries in an attempt to diversify the country. He also sets about building monuments to the Hungarian Rising across the country. Using technology from the League of Eagles, the Vezeto begins bringing the Hungarian Military into the modern age. He begins the creation of several artillery, line infantry, and grenadier divisions. The six-string guitar comes in from Russia, and various Hungarian begin picking it up. Karoly Szaks, a Hungarian composer, begins experimenting with various instruments and invents a special woodwind made from brass which he names the Szakszofon (saxophone). He begins playing it and composes various pieces with the Szakszofon and Guitar.
    • Everyone needs to sign it to be official. -Orwell
  • Pontus: King David XII of the House Bagrationi-Komnenos seeks an alliance with the Belkans and Russians and sends his two elder sons Luarsab and Vakhtang to the Conference of Novgorod. Luarsab remains in Novgorod to sign the Treaty for the Alliance of Eagles, while Vakhtang returns to Pontus with half the escort. The Catholicoi and Patriarch of the Pontus, Lazar I, declares in a speech along with David XII that the Armenian Apostolic Church does not answer to Rome, much as they haven't answered to Byzantium before. David XII signs a legislation, which makes the Mkhedruli script of Georgia the official script of royal edicts, while the Armenian alphabet remains the alphabet of the Church. The Greek alphabet remains the day to day script for all three official languages of the Pontus. The country begins modernization, asking our Belkan and Russian allies for help and ask Russia if missionary work can be conducted in the New World through Alaska. (ORWELL RESPONSE). A new merchant fleet is constructed in Trebizond.
    • I guess. -Orwell
  • Sultanate of Magrehb: The year starts with the Sultan officially marrying the daughter of the Governor of Algiers, a prominent Berber noble. The City of Algiers, itself begins to boom with diversity, being home to Native Laurentians all the way to Caucasian Europeans and Africans, this is mainly due to Barabry Piracy. With pirates raiding and capturing sailors and enslaving in cities. With many port cities beginning to grow rich from plunder. The Magrehbi Amazigh Trading Company establishes trading posts across the coast of West Africa and offers trade relations with West African Kingdoms (MOD RESPONSE). This also comes with the establishment of Quasi-Magrehbi colonies across the West African Coast. A new style of Art begins to grow in the Magrehb, after a European Artist begins to paint depictions of Magrehbi life, such as the harem, a private place for women, and the streets, called Orientalism. It becomes popular with the higher classes, with its depiction of life as exotic and luxurious yet is shunned by the Grand Kazir. Fez grows to become one of the centres of enlightenment and culture, in celebration of this the Sultan opens the University of Fez and the Grand Library. Despite this the Sultan begins moving Government administration to cities like Casablanca and Rabat. The Sultan requests a delegation to the Congress of Ravenna to Belka. The Sultan and his wife, have a child named: Aderif Bin Zaydi. The Sultanate expands 30 px south of the border.
  • Papal States: There is much rejoicing in the Africa Mission and in Rome when news arrives that a Christian prince has emerged as leader of the Zulu. The Pope names the current head of the mission to the Zulus as official Papal Nuncio to the Zulu King, and missionary efforts in the region expand. The Pope writes to Belka, saying that the preliminary settlement in the Ravenna Congress is very agreeable.
  • Cologne: In Cologne, the general election of the Council of the Rhineland League continues to be held to a lack of apparent fruition (Mods, please vote). The constitution of the Rhineland League, however, continues to be refined. The Council of the Rhineland League generally agrees that the situation in Bremen is only distantly related to the Rhineland League, given that Bremen is not in fact in the Rhineland. However, it remains a German state with German Catholic peoples (albeit of the Northern Rite), who will always resist, and Archbishop Ludwich consults consistently with the council throughout the year to consider their options in the event the Scandinavians should in fact invade. Meanwhile, in response to the actions of the new Archbishop Clemens of Trier, Archbishop Ludwich advises the other Archbishop that his people will not take well to this repeal of all reforms and civil liberties and it may eventually mean his destruction. Furthermore, Archbishop Ludwich revives the original Courts of Discipline originating in Cologne from Archbishop Friedrich in the 1400s and makes it clear to all Archbishops throughout wider German lands (ex-HRE) (where Archbishop Ludwich’s diocese still lies) that this kind of disregard for civil liberties will not be condoned. In other news, however, Archbishop Ludwich welcomes the arrival of Trier’s delegates at the Council and allows them to vote on behalf of their people.
    • Essen: Aleksander Zimmerman hears of both the New World Congress and the Congress of the Hundred, both excellent learning opportunities. Since he is young, scrappy and hungry, he’s not throwing away his shot – so he goes to both of them in the course of one year. He is sick from the travel but learns much along the way. Despite his support for Catholicism, he sees much merit in the revolutionary aims of each Congress – particularly the Congress of the Hundred’s economic goals and pursuit of justice. He begins to sit down and pen several essays about the taxes in Maiam and how they might be reconciled with Catholic teachings. Meanwhile, the Adelphinian Canonesses in New Germany are glad to send him on his way, and bid him to be careful about that fiery temper of his. He will always be welcome in an Adelphinian Abbey, but they currently wish to remain neutral in any relevant revolutions. Meanwhile, Tagalog canonesses in Tondo continue to rebuild. In Essen, industry is flowing very well and the coal is being traded very efficiently through Cologne.
  • Empire of Japan: News of Dickadick's invasion of Ququququ arrives to the Imperial Flower Court, originating from Japanese fishermen and merchants who live in Ququququ. In response to Dickadick's Invasion, we offer Ququququ protection from Dickadick's Invasion in exchange for the acknowledgement of Japanese suzerainty over Ququququ. 100 Imperial ships and 1000 troops are sent to Ququququ in order to secure this agreement. Meanwhile, naval construction is spurred as well as national infrastructure.
    • The Ququququ respond with the Treaty of Bosavi in order to ensure Ququququ safety from the Uluru
John Wilkinson installs a steam blowing engine at his plant.

  • Kingdom of Burgundy: New Germany continues settling its claimed land. Guyanese settlement of the interior continues. Patagonië expands 50 px north along the coast. After a corruption scandal tarnishes the reputation of the Burgundian West India Company, the States-General of Burgundy approves a resolution to nationalize the company. The Arcadian and Laurentian colonies are brought under the Governments jurisdiction. A colonial government, run by local lawmakers and answerable directly to the States-General is established in most of the colonies. The exception, Avelskamp, is governed by a special council of the States-General, due to its small population

The Chinese and Japanese (with plucky aid of pirates) intervention in the Anangu-Angu War starts a story that circles the globe, revealing knowledge of a great Empire existing in a continent in the far south. This continent was previously known as terra australias incognita to Europeans, who is primarily informed by the pirates that participated in the conflict. As the Japanese cement a formal alliance with Ququququ, the Chinese expedition succesffuly lands at Uluru, greeted warmly as the first non-Austronesians to step foot on the continent.

  • Riviere D'Argent: The rebellion is put down after the death of Nuncio and the promise of the Viceroy and new Nuncio that there will be no attempts to stop the growth or continued existence of Santeria. Horatio Duvalier is released. In order to rebuild the massive damages caused by the rebellion, the new viceroy, Dean Bourdeaux III, a nobleman from Orleans, begins raising taxes on sugar, wheat, and coffee. Pons Sargeant, a cartographer and explorer, runs into Francis Bolivique in a coffee shop where they talk about the recent overpricedness of coffee. Francis, Pons and several other revolutionaries gather on a dock in St. Charlemagne. There, they dump several shipments of coffee from the French East India Company into the ocean so that the French government could not collect taxes from them. This is published in the underground newspaper, Liberte, and quickly spreads as an act of defiance against French rule.  Laurentian French and Santeria continue to spread. Amishism becomes the primary religion in rural Uruguay.
    • In two years it's become the primary religion? These things take time.
      • Not many people live in rural uruguay, most people live in the cities.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot: The National Congress decides to create counties for the sejms of our country so that their control can be effectively spread in the country with Mzer, Lucentum and Diltwa Wituye being a Royal sejm of their own. Some Mzerkan sheep and horse farmers begin to move north along the coast to find new grounds for their horses and sheep to get more grasses. These farmers set up small comunities of farmers with a central well and bakers and smiths to get the needed materials made. The National Congress begins to restructure the army even more where Armies are asigned to generals of the nation but they do have to get permission for actions from the National Congress and the local sejms they can move their armies in the country but only with good reason and permission from the sejm and congress except for some sejms and cities like Mzer, Diltwa, Wituye and the capital of Lucentum will be forbidden so long the majority of congress and king doesn't agree. These generals will be able to settle new lands to get basses and houses for them and their soldiers in northern Arcadian coast if allowed by congress and the king but making a camp and basses will make them have to listen to all laws of Mzerkan even non-military ones. This army will be know as "Forças armadas nacionais" if any of these generals and lower military leaders aren't allowed to get more soldiers in anyway and doing so will give them punishments and make them set of duty and able to be set for trial. To counter and aid the congress and king the "Forças armadas reais" are established an army always in direct control of congressman and the king these armies will be in the Royal Sejms of the countries under normal circumstances but can be deployed in times off unrest. Some Mzerkan traders on request of the king sell offer the Salish to buy two dozen old Mzerkan guns to them in return for half an orca. (player response).
  • Empire of Uluru: By some chance passing of Yolgnu fishermen in the Arafur Sea, Dickadick barely manages to return from the campaign to the Continent of Anangu in the late winter, with just a less than a hundred men remaining. Many had been killed by the Ququququ fighting in the mountains, although thankfully no one met a gruesome fate by wolley rats. However, the most decisive defeat came at the hands of some very strange, almost god-like warriors that came to the south of the island. Once back on Anangu, Dickadick reported to the Emperor that the Ququququ were now allied with some strange, far more powerful empire, the exact nature of which can't be fathomed. However, there seems to be a different nation, rival to Ququququ's ally, who is sending a diplomatic expedition now. The Emperor authorizes Dickadick to mediate with the foreigners, in the hopes of offering a hand of good friendship. As soon as the Chinese expedition arrives that summer, they are greeted warmly with the finest works of food and music, presented by a group of young virgins. Such food including cooked wombat and stuffed emu. Once he is assured that the expedition means no harm, Dickadick himself processes out, accompanied by two tamed kangaroos, to meed with their leader. He attempts to sign that this is the great land of the First Ones, and we are merely the guardians of it. Meanwhile, a dozen members of the attempted invasion apparently contracted the kuru disease due to transmission of fluids.
  • Jin dynasty: The discovery of trepang on the northern Australian coast after following some Makassans stimulates interest in southward colonial expansion (ports, not full tracts of land). Nangang is further expanded, with about twenty thousand settlers. The practice of sending mixed-race infants to the Ququququ is abolished to soften China's image. The newly discovered Australian landmass is named "Shengdi" (生地), meaning "virgin-lands", in-reference to its relatively fertile and unexploited land land. A colony is established on the northern coast known as Tiwei, holding a hundred permanent settlers, and three hundred military personnel which aid efforts to acquire self-sufficiency. To avoid infuriating the primitive natives, their efforts are kept a secret and they are armed with rifles and artillery. Cartographers try mapping the extensive northern coast by utilising knowledge from encountered treppangers. With Japan securing an alliance in Ququququ, the Emperor begins to grow wary of Japanese interests on the suddenly valuable southern lands. To counter this, a group of emissaries is sent to the capital of Uluru, attempting to indoctrinate its Emperor into adopting Chinese customs. Confucianism is presented as syncretic, and viable for infusion with local beliefs. China continues adding various European theological, philosophical, and scientific texts to imperial libraries, partially aided by Immaculata missionaries. Missionary activities are undertaken by the Holiest Procurator of the Heavenly Teachings (or otherwise known as the Eastern-rite Church) in Southeast Asia.
Many Tibetans are encouraged (via financial incentives) to become more sedentary, with food instead being supplied from nearby Sichuan (thereby reducing overreliance in inefficient herding).
    • North Mongolia: Yurt is further settled. A healthy aquaculture industry is established, harvesting and raising fish from Lake Baikal.
  • Malaya: A ship is sent to the fabled terra australias incognita, to confirm the existence of such a landmass. Along with the 30 explorers are supplies capable of setting up a small camp there, and they will be expected to return via Chinese transportation once they have finished their exploration. The expansion within Borneo is going smoothly, as the eastern coastline is effectively under Malayan control, and the border with Brunei being set up. Expansion into the central rainforest is all that is of concern now. Infrastructure is improved.
  • Jaffarid Sultanate of Arabia: Upon Persia becoming a vassal of Arabia, the state is transformed into a heavily militarized state known as the Tehran Military State (فثاقشى ةهمهفشقغ سفشفث). Although the Qajar dynasty rules over the state, much of the Jaffarid military remains in the capital of Tehran as a means of enforcing harsh laws on Persia's citizens. Sultan Asim has his first child near the end of the year, and is forced to leave as Sultan, allowing for Fat'hi al-Ammar to make his way to the position of Sultan after being elected by the citizens and the House of Jaffar.
The new warship is ordered and built in major shipyards. The new sect of Islam plans a mosque in Dar Es Salaam. With the civil war in Zulu over, we stop sending support. An emissary is sent to the Uluru for trade deals.
  • Belkan Federation: With the mass complication of immigration outside the Federation, the Belkan peoples are given very few options but those options that are available are good. The vastly underpopulated regions of the empire such as Transylvania, Moldavia, Bosnia, Kreta, and Greesaya, collectively only accounting for three million of the Belkas 17.4 million strong population is given high priority as the calming down of the war and the cheap land value in these regions spurring a mass movement to nearly all these underpopulated regions. Transylvania is noted to have many valuable resources and the gold mining in particular is attractive. Bosnia sees natural expansion of populations as their closeness to both the heavily settled Croatia, and Serbia which sees hundreds of families moving into the region. Greesaya also sees a large expansion of its settler population as mostly unoccupied land is taken up and redeveloped. However rather than tons of farms springing up there is a collection of new towns springing up all over the Belkan frontiers. It is calculated than upward of 50,000 people this year alone have immigrated to lesser populated parts of the empire to get away from the vast density of the major cities. A census conducted this year puts the density of Belkas core cities on the map as Vasiligrad has nearly 1.1 million people Tarnovo and Sofiya boasting nearly 800,000 apiece, Belgrad has nearly 750,000 while Sibenik and Trieste both maintains nearly 600,000 with many of Belkas other cities also being rather large. The Belkan urban population of nearly five million is strangely one of the most dense in Europe as a result of huge buildup around core cities, and policies remain enacted to settle frontier and undersettled regions. Combined with the agricultural boom, the population growth explodes in these rural regions. This is a relatively unknown phenomena as the population Density of Belka is potentially the most dense in Europe which isn't necessarily a good thing. However the advents of various new factories invested in by bankers, high ranking families, and even to some degree the government, has led to congregation more around coal and iron mines, and the cities near by which are supplied with this material. A process of mass producing steel is pioneered within Belka in an attempt to outpace the demand now needed for ships, arms, buildings, and all sorts of other needs. Belka offers to purchase the Hungarian Enclaves making up Croatia and Slovenia.
    • Czech Federation: The election for a new Vozdh begins this year with the untimely death of the previous with the final codification that a vice-Vozdh should be elected as well. The Czechs opt toward joining the League of Eagles specifically to also gain the friendship of the Russians who lie just to the East and to also be away from potential Prussian expansion due to their also newfound friendship. The League is considered a Godsend for the exiting Czechs from the HRE as the potential of a reprisal or resubjugation attack decreases significantly.
  • Russia: Novoruthenia is expanded Northward. The League of Eagles comes into being officially. The Danzig Corrider is transferred to Prussia. Missionaries, citizens, traders, and trappers continue to travel to the colonies. Saint Abraham has small amounts of settlement becoming a hub with the Yuzhnyy Abrakham people's further south. Traders are still trying to come up with a word for them. However, some people are using the word Saliya as a Russian version of Salish. The first weapons foundry is built in Cinigrad, but is barely operating. People start to work on mines, with white men, mixed and natives all working and sometimes dying in Iron mines in colonized territory. (Maybe more to come)
  • Pontus: Luarsab begins his trek back to Pontus, traveling for the Black Sea to board a ship there toward Trebizond. With Western example, David XII helps a few scholars across his country to form the University of Trebizond, to further the country's scientific and theologic resources. The country continues to modernize and the missionaries of the Armenian Apostolic Church travel with Russian help toward the Russian Arcadian colonies. Plans are made for sending further missionaries to China. A new merchant fleet is constructed in Trebizond.
  • Papal States: News reaches Rome, through contacts with the Church in Japan, of a vast landmass, the famous Terra Australis, home to a vast pagan empire. Pope Innocent IX, enraptured by the missionary opportunities offered by such a continent, writes to the Bishops of Japan and China, urging them to make contat with the Australisians and spread the Faith. Missionary work continues to expand in the newly-opened Zulu lands. The territories gained by the Congress of Ravenna begin to be tentatively divided into states to join the Papal States, and the Parlamento votes to increase its number of seats to accomodate representatives of the new territories, once the treaty is finalised.
  • Trier: Archbishop Clemens' self imposed isolation strains the leadership of the archbishopric further this year. The attempts to upgrade and train the army falter, leading the Archbishop and the nobles alike to recruit Frederick von Scharnhorst, a prominent Hanoverian officer, and grant him full control over the military for the purpose of reforming Trevian forces. Scharnhorst institutes corporal punishments, promotions based on merit, instead of the archbishop's favor or personal wealth, and also simplifies the military structure of the small state. The head delegate to the Rhineland League, Friedrich Hecker, is nominated by the council of nobles to represent the state in more or less all non-military matters for the time being. Hecker makes a proposal to the Rhineland League, that the existing Council of Rhineland States be expanded to a full congress, with limited legislative power and membership for all states. He also proposes that a united military be created, which in war time will be led by a sole leader, chosen by vote of the congress. This force will consist of a standing army made up from forces from all member states, and in war time shall also act as a joint command and head of all individual militaries.
    • For clarification, China does not "occupy" conquered land but simply liberates it from Ulurun occupation.
  • Empire of Japan: With the signing of the Treaty of Bosavi, victory in the defense against Dickadick, and the occupation of the Ququququ capital, dominion over the Ququququ has been achieved. The Japanese occupation of the capital continues and we name it Bosavi, after the Treaty and the mountains surrounding the city. The occupation remains in order to facilitate central development of the Ququququ. A port city named Yashi is established on the northern coast, directly north of Bosavi, and colonists, traders, and administrators are sent to make a road connecting Nobunaga and Bosavi to each other. Even in victory, there is defeat, for the Chinese have reached terra australias first and we send our own expeditionary force of 50 ships and 500 men. This new land is named "Senshi no kuni", land of warriors and a colony named Nobunaga is established on the Kuni (Uluru) border of the east coast, directly north of the main coastal state. Domestically, naval construction and training is spurred as Japanese set out to explore and conquer new lands and counter the ever growing Chinese threat who are against our struggle of Pacific supremacy.

With the contact of China, Japan, Malaya, and Swahili to the Empire of Uluru, three different names of the continent emerge. The official name declared by Chinese explorers have called it Shengdi (Virgin land), latinized as Shengdia. Those who adopt the native name of the continent know it as Anangu, latinized as Anangeia. Of course, some of the European cartographers continue calling it Terre Australias, although many have already pointed out its far too small to be the true ingognita

A local prince in Courland, descendant from the Order of Teutonic Knights, is hailed by local city lords as the new Prince of independent Courland. The cities of Jelgava, Klaipeda, and Liepaja are quickly siezed, while Jurmala and Ventspils have popular support nearing takeover.

While the situation in colonial New World deteriating due to the rebellion of French Brazil and Argenta, the Congress of the Hundred elects a noble of Maiam origin, Nekawe Sanchez, to be president of the congress. This helps to unite the movements of the Maiam and modernist parties, and agree to create a federal government over all autonomous states in Lower Arcadia (OTL Mexico and Central America). They simultaneously declare independence from Iberia, and appoint another Maiam noble, Paulo Tolan, as commander of the continental army (GG). They attempt to ask Novo Lustitania and Mecicipi to join the federation, but they decline. Tentatively the new nation is called the Federation of Aztlan

I suppose Dickadick is a GG now.

  • Salish Nation: Our new leader, Alexander Suiattle, has embarked on a policy of Discovery and learning about the outside world. He learned Russian, becoming one of the first Salish to do so. He also has been recruiting some of the higher families to learn Russian, and to think. He accepts the Mzerkan deal, arming 18 men with guns, and arming sailors with them. He also requests that the Mzerkans send a ship, so that we can learn from it and incorporate it into our designs. Many people have taken up whaling, as Russian traders seem to value these greatly. A new settlement is established north of us, and it is about five miles south of the Russian fort, and a path is established to this settlement. Our 18 men with rifles are sent to guard this one. Another settlement is founded, called Tacoma (OTL Astoria) after a tribe in the area. This settlement gets massive amounts of immigration, because it has massive amounts of fish. Alexander sends an ambassador to Mzerka, to further relations, and sends an ambassador to the Russian fort to ask to meet their leader [Orwell response needed]
Further missions are established in the Navajo territory.
  • Riviere D'Argent: Francis Bolivique praises the Federation of Aztlan wishes to visit their capital and meet with the revolutionaries who declared independence as well as asking if they would like to send delegates to the next New World Congress in 1720 (Aztlan Response). Aztlan's declaration gives even more fuel to Argentian Revolutionaries. The St. Charlemagne Coffee Party as it becomes known becomes the stirring point for many revolutionaries and the breaking point for the Argentian Government. The Argentian Government passes the Civil Security Acts, which greatly crack down on various forms of free speech as well as various revolutionary organizations. These become known Actes Intolerables or Intolerable Acts in English. The acts also include taking away the self governance of the City of St. Charlemagne and its greater colony of Brasia(OTL Bahia). The Argentian government hopes that, by doing this, they can set an example to other states in Riviere D'Argent not to rebel. This however, backfires, as Republicans and Independentists in St. Charlemagne, previously a loyalist city, become more active and the loyalists in St. Charlemagne dwindle until almost everybody there has some grudge against the Argentian Government. Three major factions solidify among the revolutionaries, the Reformists, who wish to gain greater autonomy from france and gradually become independent, the Federalists, who want to establish a unified Federal Argentian Republic, and the Independentists, the ones who want each state in Riviere D'Argent to become its own republic. The Federalists and Reformists are the largest factions, with the Federalists making up 60% of the revolutionaries and the Reformists making up 35%, with the other five being independentists and monarchists(those who want to establish a Kingdom of Riviere D'Argent). To combat the "crushing of Argentian Civil Liberties" by the government, the rebels form an Argentian Congress, a body which will govern over a theorized federation of Argentian states. This organization is declared illegal by the government, but continues to grow in popularity. Argentian citizens also begin arming themselves against government incursion.
    • I think Argent is a lot smaller than you think -Nate
      • Riviere D'Argent is French Laurentia east of the andes.
      • No its French Laurentia consisting of the OTL La Plata Region. End of story. I have told you this multiple times. -Feud
      • You have never told me this. If I had known this I would claim something different. I was told the two viceroys were Peru and Riviere D'Argent. -Squid.
      • IIRC, Brazil has two separate colonies/viceroyalties: New Valois and French Antarctique. -General
  • Empire of Uluru: The Chinese emmissaries are welcomed warmly in the gates of Ngarrindjeri, the great capital of Uluru. Ambassadors work hard to interpret their language, and establish a stable form of communication for the time being. The Chinese officials are given a great feast of Anangu foods, including the finest cooked emus, wombats, spiced ochre and kangaroo milk, along with assorted vegetables of taro and sugur cane. Great ballads of music and and art are also presented, including tales of the great emperor Yannathan and his lovers Eleanora and Yackandi, against his foes Wako, Yafoodi and the Yaramayhowho. Emperor Bambam, however, does not meet the embassy directly, nor does any of his family or personal servants. Rather, he observes them from behind an ochre-red screen, communicating via envoys. Uluru is intrigued by the Jin's Confucianism, and he asks for them to bring their best books and stories on their language, philosophy, and religion, as well as maps of thier country. However, in exchange he demands they bring back their finest medical technology. He sends them home with 200 lb of taro and 300 lb of ochre as a sign of good faith, along with a modest amount of gold. Continuing to organize the military of Uluru, Dickadick obtains knowledge of settlements by both China and Japan at different parts of the continent, but keeps a distance to ensure they arne't aware he has this knowledge. He nonetheless sends spies to ascertain the technology used in their military. Ambassadors are also received from Swahili at the same time, and the Emperor is intrigued what trade they have to offer. These African guests are invited to the same revelries prepared for the Chinese.
  • Bengal Sultanate: After years of planning, the Sultan declares war on Awadh with a force of 250,000 soldiers. The scholars after studying Confucianism and the Chinese administration come back and advise the Sultan, making plans to modernize the bureaucracy and rebuild the taxation system. The Vedas enter mass publication. Using the press, the student-groups spread their ideas to the educated class. The Natya Veda is discovered and its contents are published in a variety of pamphlets for education in performing arts. Schools open up for education in performing arts solely based on the Natya Veda. A group of scholars in Patliputra write a series of books over Aryavartan history using documents from the now abandoned Aryavrata-era buildings in Patliputra. There is a slow re-emergence in the worship of fire.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot The National Congress decides to found the "Marinheiros armados nacionais" as the Navy of our great nation to let the "Forças armadas nacionais" and the "Forças armadas reais" busy with the land defence of the nation on the ground. The "Marinheiros armados nacionais" is based at the habour of Lucentum and the Chumash islands. These islands will become the heart of the navy in South Arcadian Pacific. Our current king also changes his from "Matteo Orsini Augusthino Diltwa" to Philipe Augusthino Diltwa the second. He is better known as Philipe II. The "Forças armadas nacionais", the "Forças armadas reais" and the "Marinheiros armados nacionais" are set in ready for war on the Iberian border to defend Our kingdom and Monarchy. The National Congress Sends Aid to the Salish nation like iron weapons and horses and the technology or metallurgy. The congress also sends Ambasadors to the Aztlan Federation and Administrators to help them set a constitution and laws for their need this was deemed as a treat by the king but he let it happen.
  • Jin dynasty: The emissaries send a thousand copies of the key Confucianist texts (the Analects, the Five Books and the Five Classics), a hundred prose fiction novels, and a hundred scientific texts (mainly from Europe) to Ngarrindjeri, the capital of Uluru. As promised, fifty skilled physicians are sent to Uluru to provide knowledge on advanced medical practices. To leave an impression of Jin grandeur, about ten silk-adorned tamed elephants, 45,000 g (100 lbs) worth of gold taels, other Jin cultural artefacts and artistic works, and a ten-course dinner prepared by twenty selected chefs, is given to the Ulurun barbarians. Scholar-officials sent to Shengdi begin study the region's plantlife, and continue mapping the northern coast (as the southern fringes of the continent has yet to be discovered). A conference between Japan and China is planned to take place in Nangang, with Japan, a Chinese tributary state, invited. It hopes to partition the continent into two distinct zones, and to establish a clear demarcation line. Tiwei is further settled, with three hundred permanent settlers (with about five hundred seasonal military personnel, which aid in colonization efforts). With Ququququ being under Japanese suzerainty, Papua is further colonized, and is renamed into Zaihaibian ("beside the sea"; 在海边) from Haegajang. China continues adding various European theological, philosophical, and scientific texts to imperial libraries, partially aided by Immaculata missionaries. Missionary activities are undertaken by the Holiest Procurator of the Heavenly Teachings (or otherwise known as the Eastern-rite Church) in Southeast Asia and now, Shengdi.
    • Japanese diplomacy: Japanese envoys and emissaries are sent to Nagang to meet with Chinese ambassadors, hoping to secure a reasonable agreement in partitioning Southeast Asia and renewing our relationship with the Jin Dynasty as we enter a new era of imperialism.
  • Scandinavia: With the recent uprising in Courland, King Alexander II offers to establish the Principality of Courland headed by the Prince he offers to grant Courland its independence as a vassal of Scandinavia. (Mod Response)
    • Courland: Prince Waldo Hölzer refuses to give a single answer to the Scandinavian envoy, instead preferring to wait to see how other nations react.
  • Malaya: The expedition to Anangeia, a name proposed after contact with other nations on the matter, is expected to make landfall soon. A camp is to be set up and the surroundings explored. Depending on what we find, we may consider constructing an outpost there. Expansion into Borneo is near the final stages, with all that remains a mountain range that we do not dare venture into until development arrives. Coastal cities are built along the eastern coast, while larger families are encouraged. The King abdicates due to ill health, and the throne is trnasferred to his cousin, Prince Azura. The Universities have come together to create the Malayan League of Knowledge, and collaborate with each other to advance philosophy and understanding the natural world. The Anangeian expedition force is requested to make contact with the Empire of Uluru as spoken of by China, in hopes of discovering a pristine culture untainted by the outside world.
  • In the newly-declared Principality of Courland, Prince Waldo Hölzer - based out of Klaipeda - quickly amasses an army of German and disenfranchised Swedish nobles, alongside a militia of Lithuanian and Latvian peasants, to secure control over the rebelling towns of Jelgava and Liepaja. With these towns secured, Price Waldo decides to march north from Liepaja to Ventspils, where he provides assistance to the revolutionaries sieging the Scandinavian fortress. During the siege effort, Prince Waldo, a renowned liberal, begins drafting a document that is to govern independent Courland - establishing a Parliament to be comprised half of nobles and half of merchants, traders, farmers, and other commoners. Meanwhile, Prince Waldo sends emissaries to Prussia and Russia, asking for recognition as an independent state and to receive an ambassador. In addition, Prince Waldo's chief advisor, a Latvian man by the name of Ludvigs Beck, works to create a center of government in Klaipeda.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: Hearing rumours of Terra Australis having made contact with Asia and Africa, Captain James Cook is given command of an expedition of only a single ship the HMS Fortitude to head for unexplored lands early in the year. The ships rounds the cape and crosses the Indian Ocean first heading to the land of the Woolly rats before being scared away by the natives and turning south for what is believed to be Terra Australis. Moving south along the eastern coast until Uluru inhabitants are noticed and a landing is made. After communicating with them the location of the capital Cook continues onward to the OTL Adelaide valley where he lands at the end of the year and presents gifts of sugar, tobacco, fine cotton clothing and guns to General Dickadick. The General is asked to tell them about the land of Uluru and Cook says he hopes to forge a good relationship. There is a continued growth in industry of textiles, iron manufacture and further construction of canals to allow the movement of raw materials such as coal and food. The canal system is expanded as new cities develop. The tax system is reformed to be more simple in English and Welsh rural areas with every working man in the counties affected paying a flat poll tax. It is started off low initially but it means poorer farmers have to sell their lands and find another profession where no tax is made. For the more prosperous farmers though it is less taxation for them so they are supportive of it. It also causes more effort to reduce the number of farm hands for larger farms by increasing efficiency with investment supported by banks. Textiles grows with innovations such as the Spinning Jenny in Britain. England has 7.1 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.8 million, Wales has 0.6 million, Ireland has 3.4 million people and Scotland 1.1 million. Criminals are deported to Arcadia.
    • British Arcadia: With new land opportunities opening up leading to settlers being willing to move from Europe and claim land and a continuing rise in the wages of British people leading to higher demand for Arcadian cash crops leads to more people moving out west.
  • Sultanate of Magrehb: The Sultan officially declares his recognition of the Federation of Aztlan and sends an ambassador to establish diplomatic Relations. The Sultanate begins supporting the Federation, requesting an Alliance. (MOD RESPONSE) Barbary Pirtaes, under the Sultan's instructions, launches a mass raiding campaign of Iberian ships in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean Coast. These Pirates blockade Iberian Ships in the Straight of Gibraltar. The Magrehbi Amazigh Trading Company establishes links its the Trans-Saharan Trade Route, exchanging Slaves and Agriculture for other products. The Sarhawi Question is restarted, placing Arab Merecntaries and pirates into settelment of the Westerun Sahara. The Sultanate expands 50xp south of the border, vassalsing and expanding into southern Tribes. The Art of Orientalism begins to grow amongst the coast as European Artists capture life in the Magrehb. The Magrehbi Navy is grown to become even larger and more dominant. Meanwhile the Magrehbi Army is adjusted with more modern technology. The University of Fez flourishes and introduces typewriting all acros the nation. A Major Slave Revolt occurs through the City of Algiers and Sub-Saharan Africa, destroying parts of the cities. This shocks the country with the initial revolt failing but retreating to the Sahara, all in the meanwhile tge Grand Kazir dies and is quickly replaced. The Kazir begins to frown on Slavery and similar institutions, along with him some others begin to do the same, this Small Religious elite is highly controversial and oppsed by the Sulean himeself.
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: Settlement in New Germany and Guyana continues. Patagonië expands 50 px up the coast. With rumors of terra australis, Governor Lodewijk van Diemen in Singapur commissions a voyage of seven vessels, lead by the Drakenschip ("Dawn Treader"), to explore the area. The expedition makes landfall at otl Port Hedland, and dubs the landmass "New Holland".

1779Edit

Another day another time for me to go early to bed, no events for now, although Nate/Scraw/Feud/Andy might post some. SupremeSensualSamrāṭSky 22:01, August 31, 2017 (UTC)

Aztlan accepts support from both Mzerka and Argenta, which fuels their international recognition. The war against Iberia for indepndence appears to be long and  difficult, with mostly the areas of the Mexican Valley and Yucatan peninsula under complete control so far. They nonetheless sends ambassadors to both of their friends in preparation of the next New World Congress.

  • French Brazil and Argenta: More and more rebels begin arming themselves and Amishism continues to grow. Hans Amen declares that the catholic church, in refusing to recognize them, is blasphemous and ignoring the word of god. Santeria continues to grow as well, as it becomes the majority religion among Mesquites in New Marseille, St. Charlemagne, New Normandy and various other cities. Civil Unrest continues to grow. At a meeting of several revolutionaries in New Normandy, several government soldiers break in to arrest everybody. Fortunately, most of the men are armed and a battle breaks out between them. Francis Bolivique is shot in the leg and the revolutionaries retreat to a safehouse owned by General Cornelio Savadefq in the jungles. Francis Bolivique and the other revolutionaries consider this a blatant act of war and draft a declaration of independence which they send to France, asking for them to recognize the independence of the colony of Brazil and Argenta (French Response) as one entity. Preparing for France's probable response, Bolivique orders that Pons Sargeant, a fellow revolutionary and skilled cartographer and fighter, become the leader of the Free Laurentian Army, which consists of an untrained militia of several thousand men as well as trained guerrilleros in the jungle led by Cornelio Savadefq. Propaganda, already being spread through the magazine "liberte", has many signing up to join the free Laurentian army. The city of New Marseille lowers the French flag in favor of this one. This flag is also hoisted above the city of New Normandy and the city of New Prussia. French forces are slow to respond as they face much resistance from locals and the guerrilleros have sabotaged much of their equipment.
    • Brazil Dip: Brazil refuses to remain in a unified state with Argenta and splits taking all of French Brazil and occupying Uruguay with nearly 10,000 troops.
    • French Dip: France declares Brazil and Argenta in open revolt and deploys loyalist forces totalling 25,000 against the rebels.
  • Sultanate of Magrehb: The Slave Revolt finally ends, concluding a bloody struggle between African Mercenaries and Slaves against the Magrehbi Army and Bedouin. Despite being highly symbolic, it did not affect the Magrehbi Slave Trade in general. The Magrehbi Amaziah Trading Company, the one most affected by this, refuses to cut down on its exports and contuknes to trade along the Trans-Sahara Trade Route (a route with large amounts of exports of slaves). Cities such as Rabat, Tripoli and Algiers begin to expand in size, encompassing more territory. A Maghrebi Envoy is sent to Aztlan, declaring Magrehb's support and offering them weaponry. (MOD RESPONSE). Barbary Pirares continue the onslaught on Iberian Ships, overwhelming them with force. There are many apparent reasons for this, as Iberia is well established enemy of the Sultanate. The Sultan carries out a scientific experiment, sending two baby children to an isolated island, with a small population, the populace is forbidden to speak to them. Fez becomes the capital of literature and knowledge of the country. The Sultan, also has a second child this year, a boy named Sufian. Maghrebi trading posts are established all across the Western African Coast. The Army begins to purchase advanced European Weaponry such as Rifles and advanced artillery, planning major military reform next year. The Magrehbi Navy now carries 45 ships, 30 Battleships and 15 Frigates. Berber Poetry becomes extremely popular throughout the country and starts to grow across the country.
    • Free Brazil and Argenta Dip: An envoy is sent to Maghreb to ask for help against the French and for Maghreb to also raid French ships and supply weaponry to Free Brazil and Argenta.
    • 'Maghrebi Dip:' Maghreb Accepts.
    • The Aztlan accept Maghrebi support. ~Wolves
  • Jaffarid Sultanate of Arabia: The Tehran Military State remains in effect in Iran. Although the state itself goes against everything the most influential Sultan, Muhammad, stood for, nobodies seems to directly care about it for the moment. Sultan Asim, the main general who led the invasion of Persia, offers Belka and the Papal States a trade pact, where they exchange European technology and the current European philosophy and literature for the allowance of renting a few of Judea's ports along the Mediterranean, as well for the immigration of Christians out of Arabia and into the Papal States for free (meaning I pay for them leaving, not you). The Kingdom of Balochistan is, although not declared independent, given large autonomy in the field of politics and trading as a means for not allowing a possible succession war.
    • Tehran Military State: Junaid el-Shahid, a hardened military general and associate of the House of Jaffar, takes direct control of the state through a numerous number of aggressive agreements and him nearly killing the current Sultan, Mohammad Hassan Khan, by drowning. Junaid sets forth numerous reforms, beginning with the restructuring of the Persian military, as well as putting forth a time when citizens must be inside their houses. Although this is mainly directed towards other large cities in Iran, larger effects are placed in the capital of Tehran, such as citizens being given rations for food as specific times, being told what job they will be doing, etc. The borders are closed, with the ports being seized and given to the House of Jaffar.
    • Papal Diplomacy: The Papacy would rather that Christians remain in the Holy Land, and His Holiness humbly requests that the ancient rights of the Church regarding the various holy places (the Holy Sepulchre, the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem) be respected by the Sultanate. Regarding spreading technological and literary knowledge, the Papacy would be more than happy to send some highly-educated Immaculata priests to the court of the Sultan. The Parlamento will consider whether to take up the kind offer of leasing a port.
  • Empire of Uluru: The court of the Emperor in Ngarrindjeri, which by now is hosting almost all of the feudal lords of Anangu, is most in awe and fasciantion by the visitors of both China and Britain who visit the court this year. Everyone generally loves the look of tobacco and cotton, and hopes to adopt this by the royal elite. The Chinese works of art and food are also greatly accepted as fantastic and exotic works. Lord Dickadick is fascinated by the British guns, and considers it an invaluable asset to any military. Everyone else, however, was completely awestruck by the elephants of China, as creatures never seen before. In practice, the Emperor's court immediately works to implement the Chinese texts from their center of knowledge, instructing the scholars and Dreamspeakers on both the scientific and philosophical instructions. After doing so, the Emperor begins enforcing Confucianist philosophy upon the nation, although replacing the feudal lords with magestrates would be impossible at this time. At the same time, the Emperor orders that all people of Uluru adopt the medical practices of China, and innoculate as much of the population as possible against the diseases that once held back their population, particularly against Black Fever [OOC: the skin disease of Leishmaniasis which I made epidemic to humans earlier in the game]. Emperor Bambam then requests China and/or Britain to provide technology for military and infrastructure, so as he will be able to annex the feudal lords and complete the reforms to Confucianist philosophy. It is at that point that we will establish a more permenant relationship with whichever of the two powers complies with the request. Meanwhile, more foreigners continue to appear on the continent. The Dutch settlers in northern Anangu is met with a local feudal lord, a tributary of Uluru, who is very friendly with them and willing to trade.
  • Ququququ:The Koito reform continues and as the Ququququ nation is finally stable enough, the outlying tribes are contacted in order to induce them into the Union. As the nation is much more stable right now, the Ququququ begin outreaching to more tribes, preparing their next step of expansion as the Council notices the Japanese and Jin superiority compared to Ququququ, so they understand that they, too, must expand in order to develop. The Ququququ council, following the Treaty of Bosavi decides it is high time to expand and solidify its status as the primary ruler of the Papuan island. The tribes of Gogodala (pop approx. 5000), and the Huli (pop approx. 10,000) of the western lands (i.e., west of Ququququ) are offered to join the Ququququ union. To the east, the Maisin (pop approx. 2000 to 3000) are contacted, as well as the Motu people who have been in contact with the Bilibil tribe of the Union via the Hiri trade cycle. The Orokaiva are contacted on the grounds of similarity between cultural rituals, as both Ququququ and Orokaiva include both genders. MOD response please (basically vassalization request)
    • Orokaiva accepts due to cultural grounds. ~Wolves
  • Papal States: The expeditionto Terra Australia makes its final preparations in Japan. The Papal military increases. Missions continue.
  • Cologne: Finally, a leader of the Rhineland League is elected! Archbishop Ludwich is incredibly honoured to take on the official title of Kaiser of the Rhineland League and promises to do his very best to get the Rhineland League up and running in the following years. In the meantime, with this promise of stability being at least somewhat more fulfilled, he puts out an open call to all remaining ex-HRE states (Mod response for ex HRE states, please, basically all those grey ones on the map) to join the Rhineland League if they desire stability in these potentially turbulent times, especially given the recent threat of an attack from Scandinavia. Meanwhile, Archbishop-Kaiser Ludwich passes several pieces of operational legislation in the Council of Rhine States, turning it into more of an operative Parliamentary-style body. Further legislation allows the Kaiser to call armies from all Rhineland Member States in the event of an external attack of the Rhineland’s sovereignty. In other news, Ludwich remains highly disappointed with the Archbishop of Trier on a religious level but respects Trier’s decision to send a noble delegate.
    • Essen: This year Aleksander Zimmerman has found himself involved in the Congress of the Hundred, getting closer to Paulo Tolan as commander of the continental army. He makes a few very unsubtle attempts to show off around Tolan, hoping that one day he may be able to fight and die by Tolan’s side. What he doesn’t realise, however, is that Tolan is probably more interested in his intellectual ability and organisational skills. (Mod response for Tolan I guess) Zimmerman also, throughout his travels, takes part in the Argentan fighting, only to suffer a few close calls and reconsider how committed he is to this cause that is predicated on a religion that he as a child had been taught to think completely heretical. However he is torn because, while in Argenta, he met a man by the name of Jean Lopez: he becomes very close with Jean Lopez but resigns himself to many many letters at this point. Lopez is filled with trepidation about the approach of the loyalists, but Zimmerman promises him one thing: “Tomorrow, there’ll be more of us.” Meanwhile, Tagalog canonesses in Tondo have finally rebuilt from the hurricane. In Essen, coal continues to be traded through not merely Cologne now but through the entirety of the road networks throughout the Rhineland League, essentially unlocked for all Rhineland states by the new Kaiser.
      • Tolan notices Aleksander. ~Wolves
  • Jin dynasty: The current flag is replaced with the azure dragon flag, while the lyrics of the current national anthem is rewritten to better represent the diversity of the imperial subjects of the Jin dynasty. The Qianlong Emperor proclaims China to be a multinational state, declaring "the Han, Korean, Manchu, Mongol, and Hui peoples are bound together in a unison of mirth and prosperity; they are Chinese". In his speech, he designates the literal term 漢人 ("Han people") to refer to the Han Chinese, while using the term 華人 ("sinicized/civilized people") to refer to the Chinese; whereas previously the distinction was blurred. After years of discontent with Christianity, Qianlong Emperor renounces his Christian faith, and converts into Confucianism, a decision emulated by some members of the imperial household and aristocracy. Prompted by this, the clergymen of the Eastern-rite Church starts arguing whether or not to sever ties with mainstream Christianity and rebrand itself as a branch of Confucianism (albeit with many Christian elements), or pursue further integration into the Catholic Church in-order to preserve its cultural/religious integrity. This internal conflict spurs the conversion of many Christians into Roman Catholicism, and a sudden revival/interest in traditional Korean faiths, such as Buddhism and Shamanism. This is also a benefit to the Mongolian Church of the East, which suddenly acquires a massive following. Due to the abolishment of institutionalized persecution of Hui, the percentage of Hui rises to about eight percent, as indicated by imperial census. The Zaihaibian colony further expands, with a second port being established in the Western peninsula known as Suolong (OTL Sorong), with about three hundred initial colonists. Nangang receives another influx of settlers lifting the population further to about thirty thousand colonists. To keep up with the increasing material demands of the colony, restrictions against fire-fallow cultivation is abolished, and land is freely given to peasants, which also provides an incentive for settlement from China. This leads to rapid deforestation of the forest, with found native settlements and tribes having the choice of being converted under Confucianism and maintaining their independence as an autonomous municipality, or being forcibly expelled and forced upland. In an effort to eradicate the local culture, miscegenation is highly encouraged between the settlers and the "civilized" Confucianized natives. The Nangang Conference occurs with Japan, partitioning Shengdi into two zones of influences. Aid is sent to Uluru.
  • Dravidia: The mixing and reemergence of Dravidian folk religion has yielded a greater study and following of the Agamas (Non-Vedic Texts). The Agamas are widely published and distributed become important texts in religious instruction and education in the gurukulas. The Agamic philosophy is declared by the council to be the official philosophy of the state.
  • Malaya: The navy is upgraded, while a few divisions of the Royal Guard are sent to Borneo. Expansion within Borneo is nearly complete, with the remaining process of drawing up the borders and the clearing of forests. Development of settlements have covered the eastern coast entirely, and is expected to advance inland in due time. The expedition in Anangeia has sent word of arrival in Uluru, and we look forward to engage in interaction with the "Pure Civilisation", a nickname given to the Uluru Empire. Word has also been sent back about a strange creature that looks like a large rat, but hops around (wallaby). Infrastructure is further developed, especially in Borneo. Agricultural activities are also extensively engaged in.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot: The national Congres of the Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot officially recognise the Aztlan Federation as a nation and we recognise their cause and struggle they have against the Iberian Crown. The "Forças armadas nacionais" and the "Forças armadas reais" are set on outermost readyness on the Border of the Iberian colonies of Baja. The national congres also secretly sends guns and swords and armour to the Aztlan Federation (secret). The congres begins to create plans to expand the Sejm system and at they same time they think to make a middle ground between sejms and the national congres to make actual ethnic groops in one big devision.
  • Pontus: The country continues to modernize and the missionaries of the Armenian Apostolic Church travel with Russian help toward the Russian Arcadian colonies. One of the missionary groups boards a ship on the Russian Far East port and travels to China to talk about missionary work in China. (Candies RESPONSE). A new merchant fleet is constructed in Trebizond.
    • China says YAS.
Machine tools and measuring tools begin to catch on in some factories, and steam pumps are now widespread in mines. A scholar-farmer in Malindi begins to develop selective breeding. Islamic reactionary forces begin organizing against what they see as heretical influences from the West. The emissary to the Uluru Empire of Anangu presents many Swahili products, such as Mombasa procelain, tea, coffee, textiles, candy and ironworks. Pieces of technological novelty, such as the flying shuttle are also presented.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep continues development.
    • Sefuwa: The colony of Sefuwa continues the construction of a port.
    • Huriya: Swahili culture is brought by merchants and diplomats.
    • Rowzi: Rowzi converts to Islam. Swahili culture is brought by merchants and diplomats.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: James Cook returns home to bring word of the discoveries of the new continent and lots of people going across the pacific and reaching home by the end of the year. After telling the Royal Society and the King of his discoveries James Cook is given an instruction to launch a second expedition bringing guns, gunpowder and shot to Australia in exchange for exotic food. The Iron Bridge is erected across the River Severn in Shropshire, England; the first all-cast-iron bridge ever built. The spinning mule is perfected by the Lancashire inventor Samuel Crompton. The British Royal Navy adopts the carronade. Bryan Higgins is granted a British patent for hydraulic cement (stucco) for use as an exterior plaster. There is a continued growth in industry of textiles, iron manufacture and further construction of canals to allow the movement of raw materials such as coal and food. The canal system is expanded as new cities develop. The poll tax on farmers sees a minor increase this year. Textiles grows with innovations such as the Spinning Mule in Britain. England has 7.1 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.8 million, Wales has 0.6 million, Ireland has 3.4 million people and Scotland 1.1 million. Criminals are deported to Arcadia.
    • British Arcadia: With new land opportunities opening up leading to settlers being willing to move from Europe and claim land and a continuing rise in the wages of British people leading to higher demand for Arcadian cash crops leads to more people moving out west.
  • Russia: Novoruthenia is expanded northwest. Verum Crede holds a rally in Gorod Vostok, which is promptly shut down following the lynching of an Asian man walking by. The Siberian Governate disbands the VC, which falls into obscurity, for now. Rumors begin to circulate about a war against Iberia from Maiam. Continued settlement of Saint Abraham occurs. Attacks on local fur trappers after a small pox outbreak occurs, many local Tlingit tribesmen begin to attack settlements in the Archipelago. An envoy is sent to Mzerka to confirm this. Poles begin to settle in parts of Siberia, still bitter after Russian conquest. Russia offers to annex Courland as an Okrug (autonomous region) of Russia, with prince as governor, and representatives seats added to the Duma (Courland Response).
  • Empire of Japan: The signing of the Treaty of Nangang ushers in a new era of diplomacy with the Jin Dynasty, with us officially ending our state of hostility with Jin after the partitioning of Indonesia, Papua, and Shengdi. The partitioning of southeast Asia and terra Australis allows us to spur our ambitions to spread the Japanese people to all corners of the Earth. In light of the Nangang partition naval development surges as we now have official clearance to expand from China with no risk of increasing hostilities. Because of the massive naval development, port and coastal cities also experience a boom in industry as workers move there for ship construction. Young men and women across Japan are encouraged to colonize the world, and colonists flood into the port cities. With this, the colony of Sake is established on Palau Serasan, just off the coast of the state of Brunei (Borneo). News of the Aztlan revolt reaches Japan, We send our yearly shipment of rice to Beijing for tribuary and emissaries to kowtow to the  Qianlong Emperor, as per the Conference of Nagyang
