  • Cambodia: Three months ago, Pol Pot was captured, hiding in the jungles around Angkor. The public execution of Pol Pot is held in Reachathan, on April 15, 1700 (Khmer New Year 1700), to symbolize an end to war and the beginning of change. After the execution of pol Pot, King Bonaphum officially outlaws the death penalty, saying that "Killing Pol Pot is necessary for the survival of the Kingdom, but this will be the last execution. Everyone, if given time, can change". Primary and secondary schools open in many locations across Cambodia, as three new universities open. Calculus beings to be taught at universities. The vast majority of the country's roads are paved, and the irrigation scheme is going very well. Life is returning to normal. To finish off the Islanders once and for all, the 40,000 troops blockading Koh Rong Island start firing. Within three months, the Islanders are all but wiped out.

Following Cambodia, the death penalty is removed entirely, despite it requiring extreme offenses in the first place.
  • Tsardom of Belka: The Tsar finally manages to get the all clear that the city of Vasiligrad is now plague free. However,m the damage has been done and many prominent nobles have migrated their primary home residence into Belgrad. The city due to the Tsar's decree and the attractivness of the city itself has led to the population to nearly double in the last decade going from 160,000 to over 320,000. Many of these coming as immigrants from Vasiligrad and from overcrowding in the massive cities of Sofiya and Tarnovoa both of which boast nearly 500,000 people a peace and Vasiligrad receding back to 700,000. The population of the entire country climbs to 14.2 million. The remaining Aristocracy that exists begins to shrink its unprofitable land holdings making solid profits on selling to the merchant estates to develop as food production or in some cases livestock. The Military sees a more common influx of second sons hoping to make a name for themselves. However, due to Field Marshal Kamarov's more recent reforms, the system remains merit based and army titles remain unable to be bought up by the nobility forcing the second sons of the nobility to actually be competent as a soldier rather than being granted commissions based on noble titles. While there is some bickering the Tsar quickly silences these issues with a retort to the Duma. "If the freemen makes a better soldier than one of your entitled sons than so be it, but i will not allow the army that brought our predecessors and our current country fester and fall corrupt because you wish to keep your children safe. I have personally led our troops on multiple occasions, The army is a dangerous place, not one where your Noble desire for prestige is to be filled".

  • Great Iberia: King João II works to centralize the realm under the House of Braganza and promote Portuguese culture and language throughout the mainland and Mediterranean holdings. Construction continues on the Paço da Ribeira in Lisbon, which will house the royal family after it is completed. João II, a very pious man, has decided to respect the wish of the Pope and seek peace with the French. Support is extended to the animist faction of Ndongo in the form of mercenaries. Iberia continues supporting Savoy and training their army. 7000 troops and 70 ships are sent to relieve Namibe. Lobito is reinforced by 6000 troops and 35 ships. The Iberian fleet blockades French ports in Africa and Brazil. Portuguese privateers plunder the coast of Brazil. The Califórnias continue expansion down the coast and along the Baixa Califórnia peninsula. Indian Bay continues to receive settlers. Mêcicipi expands upriver. He also presses the issue of Honduras to England, asking them to honor their agreement and return Honduras now that Maiam has achieved self-rule.
    • Benguela: The colony expands inland. Benguela City is garrisoned by 3000 troops in total; Velha-Benguela by 2600, Lobito by 8000, Namibe by 8000, and Forte de São Pedro (Catumbela) by 1000. Portuguese settlers begin moving into the area between Benguela and Namibe, founding settlements along the coast, the largest at Bai-a Farta, Lucira and Porto Alexandre (OTL Tômbwa).
    • Iberian Diplomacy to France: With the majority of forts in Central Africa controlled by Iberia, peace is again offered to France if they recognize the current borders of Benguela. All other land (in Brazil) will be returned to France. They are especially encouraged to accept this treaty now that the Pope has called for peace, and resolve this dispute instead of escalating it further.
    • English Dip: It hasn't achieved self rule. Iberia still basically rules it.
  • Papal States: Pope Zosimus II calls on Iberia and France to end hostilities. With the army militarised, the Pope turns his attention to the States' crumbling defence infrastructure, such as forts and defensive walls. The Papal force continues fighting in the German War [presumably]. Overseas now, and the Pope, on hearing of the faith of the Mzerka people, sends a simple (yet elegant) golden crown to King Amadeus Diltwa of the Mzerka, and offers his sons, including the Prince Paulo Aghostino a chance to study in Rome (Mzerka response please). Missions continue in the New World, Korea-China, Giapan, Lan Xang, and Southern Africa. The Prince expresses his interest in the piano, and purchases one for his residence in Malacca. Resources are sent to Sabah to help with modernization there.
  • Al-Afriqia State: Sunhaib, son of Jalaal, remains imprisoned, and calls for reform in Zayiyr. His followers and political associates against Aseel continue to be imprisoned for charges of treason. The population inside the prisons steadies at 24,000, with the total population currently being 1.012 million. We continue to supply the Islamic revolutionaries in Ndongo with weaponry and resources. With the inability to properly contact our settlers, Sultan Aseel simply forgets about them and continues to swim within his wealth while the citizens continue to work hard for little pay. Large clear cutting projects opened by the Sultana Werababa begins as a new business is opened: Wood Shop (ًخخي ساخح). The business's main goal is to stop the loss of settlers and to make way for urbanization. Although 59% of the citizens are dedicated to mining, the Sultana moves 2% of those workers to clear cutting, which although raises small time controversy, proves successful as a few small acres of land are opened for house construction. Although our economy greatly depends on mining, we hope to balance the homeless rate in Zayiyr with the urbanization, which the homeless rate is at 36%. Raashid returns from France having learned knowledge about their government. Sultan Aseel, being paranoid, imprisons young Raashid for treason. a new, large-scale prison is being created. The prison is being created in an abandoned mine, and because of this, it should be finished by 1710. The prison is designed to hold 50,000 citizens. In the latter part of the year, Sultana Werababa gives birth to twins Ariyya and Jamaal, which raises small questions of whether or not she is the incarnation of the devil, and decreases approval ratings further. To continue his reign across all of the Kongo, Sultan Aseel orders the construction of small outposts within each vassal that have dense forests (all of them). The outposts will be built near cities and will tax the vassals for Zayiyr's protection. Each outpost will hold ten soldiers armed with rifles. These outposts are all expected to be finished by 1703.

  • Belkan Empire: Following Years of reforms, the moving of the capital, the final solidification of the imperial aristocracy, and the Imperial family, Tsar Peter is proclaimed Emperor of Belka, a step above Tsardom which coloquially can be considered a Kingdom by Latin linguists. This elevation comes to great Fanfare across the empire and the coronation is put on the same day that Grand Prince and eventually Tsar Vasili the Impaler or "Vasili the Great" as he is more well known in Belka, pushed the Turks out of Europe and back into anatolia, the First of many wars which saw the receding of the Heathen Turks and Caliphate forces from Europes doorstep. Emperor or now Czar (the terms being reflected as the spelling change to reflect the upgrade in status) issues a decree and implements compulsory schooling for the high merchants, nobility, and other high level members of Belkas society essentially forcing the final holdouts to integrate into Belkan culture and language. The success of previous implementation of language is apparent as many people from the churches of banks of Zagreb to the massive ports of the Aegean coast all the way into the forests of Moldavia and the great Vlach plains speak Belkan. It is mutually understandable across many facets of the empires languages with old Vlach, Bulgar, Serb, Bosnian, and Slovene languages all being mutually understanding of Belkan. The Similarity of Croatian with these brings to order the fact that eventually Croatian will fall under this umbrella term and hence scholars refer to these language as the "Belkan Tongues" with croatia being considered somewhat outside for the time being due to its recent inclusion into the grand lexicon of the modernized Slavonic speak. The Czar also now solidified in his role as a total absolute monarch, removing the last vestiges of noble power by stripping away the final nobles abilities to raise troops or act without Petar knowing. While potentially seen as oppressive Petar being a good diplomat and also a rather well to do cultural man has fostered a new cultural attitude in the nation. New Artworks coming out of Belkan Baroque also known a Belkonic artwork becomes prominent, showing the vast attention to detail and the expansion of artistic technique which is based on the many great battles fought in the last century. One of the most popular is a massive mural painted along the back wall of the throne room in Belgrad depicting the final battle of Ankara between the Belkan armies and the Caliphate. The sponsoring of the Scientific method also comes to fruition as lodges specifically geared towards innovation come about. This does, however, attract philosophers as well who begin to formulate new ideas such as ones on governance, the possibility of "social contract" as well as the modernization of economic procedure. With much of the problems of the Civil war having ended the Belkan agricultural base has consequently been revolutionized by this with the incorporation of new world crops to make up for extreme crop shortages as well as much larger wheat yields giving way to unheard of population growth with much larger families becoming the norm as land in the north and the West becomes much more popular for settlement. Croatia, Transylvania and the Moldavian regions become extremely popular and see large swaths of population growth as the new agricultural production of the Vlach plain and the core regions near Bulgaria, Grecia, and somewhat in serbia have expanded. However, some reports put Transylvania as the potential to be the real breadbasket of the empire which spurs some interest.
  • Hawaii: Upon his ascension to the throne several years prior, King Keaweʻīkekahialiʻiokamoku and several members of his family and court embarked on a tour of the Hawaiian islands, hoping to expand his already legendary reputation as a brave warrior and leader. He met with the Aliʻi nui of the other Hawaiian islands, hoping to foster further cooperation and trade among the Hawaiians. Returning to Hawaii, he learned that in his absence a dispute had broken out between his family and the powerful and independent ʻI family of Hilo, on the eastern half of the island. Seeking to preserve peace on the island, he married Lonomaʻikanaka, the daughter of Ahu-a-ʻI, and had his son Kalaninuiomamao married to Ahia, the granddaughter of Kuaʻana-a-ʻI and cousin to Kuahuia's son, Mokulani, ending the feud. The Hilo chiefs reaffirmed their allegiance to him, becoming one of the most influential and powerful chiefs under his control. This action brought the entirety of the island under the king’s control, as the culmination of over two centuries of centralization, begun by his ancestors in the early sixteenth century. After centuries of semi-regular meetings, in which a new system of administration had begun to take shape, in the capital city of Ka-luahine (OTL Pāhala), the chieftains of Hawaii are called to formally swear loyalty to the king. Additionally amendments to the laws of the island are created to reform the kingdom and further consolidation control under the king. The meeting of the many chiefs in the capital city, the king hopes, will set a precedent for cooperation in the centuries to come. The port in the capital is expanded, hoping to further facilitate trade among the islands and beyond, and plans are created for the creation of more advanced repair facilities to begin outfitting a more modern Hawaiian fleet of war canoes. Although Keaweʻīkekahialiʻiokamoku had thus far consolidated his rule over the island diplomatically, he begins training a loyal army in the capital, requesting that the chieftains send a portion of their forces to his disposal. The taxation system is expanded to facilitate this expansion, with the majority of these funds going toward infrastructure on the island. Specifically, the king orders a rotational system of crop harvesting, and a shared ownership of the lands, which will henceforth be under his absolute control, so that no chief can amass enough power to threaten the central government. Overall this leads to an expansion of farmlands and an overall greater yield of crops, with the central government receiving the largest yield.

  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: So there is now the United Kingdom of Great Britain. The training of the 40,000 British Army is finished and they are assembled and ready. A road is started connecting Dundee to Aberdeen and in addition the English Midlands continue to have more canals built. The Army of Islamic India maintains itself at Guddu and Modasa and the army is split between these two forts with 30,000 each while trade flourishes with states in India bringing in Asian wealth. Due to the threat to french Indian ports, Kakinda and Berunga continue to have 5000 troops for the Army of Islamic India and paid overseas rates for their deployment. In an attempt to reduce the number of fires more wooden houses are removed and replaced with stones houses while plumbing is worked on in London to allow better fire fighting. There is a rise in the use of the seed drill throughout Britain. Robert Walpole a successful businessman and son of a politician is elected Parliament and for his ability to work with Whigs and the Government he gains the respect of his party. The army remains small with 3000 men in Ireland, 2000 men in Scotland and 1000 in Wales and England each with them training the militia force and an additional 9000 troops are overseas with 4000 in Arcadia, 1000 in Haiti as well as 250 in St George, St Helena, New Canterbury and Bay of Kost. 1000 sliders and 30 ships are in French Africa. 2000 men are maintained in New Valois to help the French defend it. Benin rapidly decentralizes, and the many city-states gain local autonomy.

The French Viceroyalty of Peru reorganizes, federating the many native states together as provinces under the new Viceroyal government. This agreement also sees the integration of the two final native states which have avoided conquest under peaceful terms. The Large native presence still in these states is noted to have a major impact on this. This remains separate of the Rivière d'argent (Rio de la Plata) Viceroyalty.

Following a brutal civil war the Kanem Empire re-organizes under a new dynasty and sends envoys to the West African coast as well as to the Caliphate and Ethiopian Empires attempting to make further contact with the outside world.

In Japan Saitama Abe, from Japans Ancient Abe clan fields his vast wealth to marshall together an army challenging the current Shogun. His retreat brings thousands to war banners again for control of Japan, with the Abe Clan and the Genji clan becoming the prime picks to bring Japan under their banner.

Emperor John dies this year, and is succeeded by his borther Emperor Iyasu. Iyasu is crowned in Medinah Jamil by a proxy of the true Pope, Mark V. Iyasu proves to be very old and encumbered as well, and so takes a back seat in government in favor of his nephew Theodore. Theodore takes control of organizing and modernizing the military, calling together the princely states to pool their militlary in a war of conquest to the north.
  • Ifriqiya: Trade: We continue trade with Europe and Africa, this causes traders meet up in smaller city to help create more major cities. • Malaya: Centralization of the Peninsula and Sabah continues, as does modernisation. The city walls of major cities are renovated, reinforcing them with a further stone layer. Iron mining begins in Kedah, with exports alongside tin. The Queen unfortunately passes away, with her son Manjalara ascending to the throne. A monument is constructed in Kedah in her memory.
  • Dakshinapath|South India: The Dravidian language becomes commonplace. Difference between the Dravidian languages and Dravidian itself diminishes rapidly. A common language signifies the start of an era of collectivisation of the cultures of South India. Land clearance continues. Landless farmers/tenants are given land in the newly cleared areas. As the amount of labor goes down, feudal houses start using their land for less labour intensive activities. Due to declining labor the use of the Swahili plow increases exponentially and spreads throughout the nation. The number of people employed in Poultry and Dairy farming increase. Landlords start diverting large amounts of capital for upkeep of the land. Absentee landlordism declines and landlords now have a genuine desire to improve their land. The Scythe increases in popularity. Large irrigation projects help in bringing more land under cultivation. Small dams are constructed. As the printing presses keep producing books and novels, a reading pubic emerges in the urban centres of the country especially among the nobility and the officers.
  • France: 30 more ships are diverted to namibe. With Namibe swiftly conquered it is regarisoned with the 5000 troops and 30 ships and it is turned into a major fort. Luanda and Lobito are also turned into major forts and garrisoned by the same troop numbers.
    • You don't control Lobito or Namibe. -General
    • Im sorry about the Salt you have when you are conquered. You should've done an algo when no troops were at lobito lol. ~Octboi
    • I did do an algo for Lobito, and by siege protocol you lose the Siege of Namibe. So yes, it does make me a bit salty when you straight up ignore the algo results. -General
  • Hawaii: The meeting of the chiefs of Hawai'i in the capital city of Ka-luahine concludes in the beginning of this year, and the chieftains of Hawaii return to their districts. As part of the Lokahi reforms, Keeaumoku Nui is considered the heir to Keawe II, despite being younger in age than Kalaninuiamamao. Despite being older, Kalaninuiamamao is ruled to be minor because of the distant relationship of his father and mother, unlike his brother Keeaumoku Nui, who was the son of Kalanikauleleiaiwi. Additionally Keeaumoku Nui's supremacy is solidified by his rank as a Piʻo chief, causing the noble class of Hawai'i to back him based on his prestige. Despite this, Kalaninuiamamao still swears loyalty to his father and brother, and is promised a large portion of land, principally consisting of the District of Kaʻū. This is all in an effort to enforce the new rules of succession laid down by Keawe II to limit infighting upon his descendants and across the island. Aside from the king, the two half-brothers become the two most powerful forces on the island, followed by Ahu-a-ʻI, Chief of Hilo, and father of Lonomaʻaikanaka, Keawe II's newest wife. Ahu-a-ʻI dies later that year, and is succeeded by his niece, Ululani. The administrative and agricultural reforms laid out by the king continue to take shape, while in the capital and other major settlements ports are under construction.

  • Angu Tribes (Hamtai): The Hamtai tribe experiences a change in chieftains, as Koito assumes control of the Hamtai tribes and begins consolidating his rule over the surrounding Angan tribes. Following the example of southern Angan tribes, the nation begins to practice pederasty less and less, following the example of the ruling elite. The Angu tribal consolidation is a slow process. However, only the Yipmak provide some form of resistance. The Angan language, or the dialect used by the majority slowly blends to a singular one as the dialects are made to be more similar to each other.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: So there is now the United Kingdom of Great Britain. There is an expansion of libraries at the universities in a move to push forwards science. England's non- Arcadian colonies continue to receive a steady settlement. In an attempt to reduce the number of fires more wooden houses are removed and replaced with stones houses while plumbing is worked on in London to allow better fire fighting. There is a rise in the use of the seed drill throughout Britain. Robert Walpole continues to do well in Parliament.. England has 6.4 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.8 million, Wales has 0.6 million Ireland has 1.6 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people. The army now has 16,000 in England, 15,000 in Scotland, 10,000 in Scotland and 5000 in Wales and an additional 9000 troops are overseas with 4000 in Arcadia, 1000 in Haiti as well as 250 in St George, St Helena, New Canterbury and Bay of Kost. 1000 sliders and 30 ships are in French Africa. 2000 men are maintained in New Valois to help the French defend it. The fleet is divided with 150 ships stationed in Portsmouth and 120 ships stationed in Bristol. Privateer continues and trade with colonies in a triangular trade going through Africa, America and Europe. The first daily newspaper the Daily Courant is published.
    • British Arcadia: The Iroquois forming some big confederacy is fine as long as they keep all Europeans out we respect their current territorial integrity and hope that they will respect ours. We strengthen static defences in the region. Since we aren't expanding in that area anymore we resume mass expansion into New Essex at 50 px across the southern area making new plantations. Continued growth of cash crops which are then sold to Europe.
  • Papal States: During the meeting with the Grand Patriarch, Pope Zosimus II and he issue a joint Bull, explicitly recognising the validity of Orthodox and Catholic sacraments respectively. The Bull contains a joint statement of Faith, since the two Churches have effectively the exact same beliefs. On the Patriarch's departure, Zosimus tells him that the Council of Cologne leaves room for the Orthodox to end the Schism and return to the fold as an independent Rite, with their Patriarch capable of being elected Pope (as the Northern Rite Patriarch has been) and no papal interference within their Rite. Work continues on improving fortifications. Missions continue in the New World, specifically amongst the Iroquois, Korea-China, Giapan, Lan Xang, and Southern Africa.
  • Russia: Tsar Pyotr gives into some demands of the Traditionalists but declares his stance on western technology and art. Thanks to this statement Traditionalist leaders with many supports take up arms in Moscow. Many workers in foundries of Tsaritsyn also rise up in solidarity, taking their weapons and killing their bosses. Many of these men are inspired by that of the 1580s revolutionary Leon Petrov. The workers leader, Lev Davidovich becomes head of state of the Russian "Republic" with its capital in "Levgrad." Meanwhile the Siberian Governate and the conservative regions of the central and eastern parts of the Tsardom have their own civil war between traditional's and tsarists. Many traditions are religious folk, called for a holy war against the Tsar. Tsar Pyotr's 1st son and Heir to the throne Pyotr II flees to Scandinavia. Meanwhile, the Traditionalist priests and nobles elect the Prince of Vladimir, the religious Giorgi Rurik, brother of Pyotr to become Tsar of the Traditionalist faction. The RTK effectively becomes the law of the land in the Vostok and Sakha provinces. RTK mercs patrol the streets almost as a separate government. Bobrov in Summer at his office in Vostokgrad (short for Gorod Vostok) declares himself 1st Consul of the "Russian Pacific Republic", and takes control of the East Coast and the colonies. On the battlefield Pyotr's troops easily crush a Nizhniy Novgorod revolt and begin to push south. Groups of Estonians and Latvians launch an attack into Polish Lithuania with 5000 to "liberate their brothers" from Poland. The RPR expands Novoaleutia 5 px and Tuvov 5 px west and east.
  • Great Iberia: The Paço da Ribeira is completed in Lisbon and the royal family moves in, although extensions will continue to be added in the coming years. With the long-term goal of undermining Muslim influence in Africa, mercenaries are sent to Ndongo to support the animist faction. There are at least 800 mercenaries operating within Ndongo, and missionaries also make routine visits to the coast of Kongo and the Ndongo-Benguela borderlands. Iberia continues supporting Savoy and training their army. With France ignoring the offer of peace, the war continues. However, the offer is always open if they wish to negotiate. Namibe is reinforced by 2000 troops and 15 ships. Privateers plunder Fortazela and attack French ships in the waters of northern Brazil, making off with substantial prizes. The army in Parnaíba marches along the coast, occupying French settlements and trying to lure the French forces into open battle. Settlers continue to arrive in Parnaíba, especially on the coast to São Atto. The Portuguese settlements on Mozambique Island and Pemba Island expand.
    • Maiam: Seeing England refuse to return the Mayan homelands of Honduras and instead keep them as an English colony, the Emperor grows distrustful of European influence, believing the English supported Maiam only as a means to expand their own empire. However, Maiam continues to maintain friendly relations with Britain through Honduras. The Pacific trade brings wealth into Maiam's coffers, as goods from China, Tondo, and Macáçar circulate through the realm. There is a demand for Maian goods among the rich citizens and nobles of Iberia, especially chocolate.
    • Benguela: The colony continues expansion. Benguela City is garrisoned by 3000 troops in total; Velha-Benguela by 2600, Lobito by 7000, Namibe by 9500, and Forte de São Pedro (Catumbela) by 1000. Portuguese settlers begin moving into the area between Benguela and Namibe, founding settlements along the coast, the largest at Bai-a Farta, Lucira and Porto Alexandre (OTL Tômbwa).
    • Iberian Diplomacy to Benin: An envoy representing Portugal visits the local rulers of the Gold Coast in Benin, and asks for permission to build trading posts on the coast, specifically at the village near OTL Elmina. In return, he promises naval protection to the city-states and the service of Portuguese mercenaries in wars. (Mod Response)
  • Swahili: We continue our agriculture policies. The army continues convincing contracted servants. Areas interior to Mombasa and Malindi is colonized. We also send out conquistadors to expand northwards into more northern Somalia. We continue colonial expansion. We adapt more plants to the Swahili climate. We continue expanding southwards. Mineral processing is developed. Agriculture advancements continues. Swahili now has a culture distinct to that of the Caliphate, born from both Islamic and also Western influences. The military begin planning a major offensive into the Rowzi.
    • Sultanate of Qamar: Qamar is further developed.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep is further developed.

1703

The Benin city-states begin to war against each other for more power in the face of rapidly-shrinking central authority.

The Orthodox Patriarch Georgy Potočnik invites the Pope to the Hagia Sophia in a proper attempt to discuss the problem of the central authority brought to bear by the church. His view stands that "Having such power vested in churches has led to more deaths, than brought more followers to salvation. We must look back to solve these issues Christendom has spawned."

The nascent "republic" in Russia essentially falls into a triarchy dictatorship shared between Lev Davidovich, Leon Korolev, and Alexei Zhukov. Zhukov being one of the richest nobles in Southern Russia bankrolls the republic guarenteeing his security under the new system.

Radicalized Orthodox priests preach of the "sin and debauchery" of the west and the traditional slavic way is the only way Russia was meant to live. While untrained, the masses flock to this and become radicalized in their own way marching on and seizing Luhansk, Kiev, and Zhytomyr overwhelming the Kievans and Cossacks.

The Comanche Empire after decades of gradual expansion and the adoption of horses, runs headlong into the Iberian colony to their south. Seeing an infraction on the land they have rightfully conquered, the Iberian settlers are expelled back south, now with knowledge of the large and expansive Comanche empire spread across parts of the Great Plains.

The Mapuche are able to quietly adopt fire arms from illicit traders and smugglers and are able to effectively use them against tribal natives in a brutal fashion, subjugating their recently conquered territory with ease.

In Japan the new bout of Sengoku Jidai rages with armies clashing all over Japan. The influx of firearms in large droves as well as the death of traditional Japanese warfare brings Japan crashing into a new form of mass warfare. Armies of Hundreds of thousands instead of tens of thousands clash in extremely bloody battles. The ferocity of these battles steers away many who would think to seize an opportunity against Japan.

  • Rashidun Caliphate: The Caliph immediately mobilizes all the military to defend the nation against the sudden invasion of the Ethiopians. All economic and religious support are withdrawn from the south, and the Ulema begins writing up an official document to depose the Emperor for his treasonous acts. The Kilab Al-Rub mainly builds up the defenses on the Nile Delta, mostly unable to support any major defense abroad. The main defense of Egypt is taken from the Moroccan troops sent in from the west, deploying them to defensive positions in the south. Badr is told to not ignore the Caliph's authority, and the occupied territory in Libya up to Tripoli will not be granted to Morocco unless they continue to acknowledge the rule of the Caliph. Some troops are also brought in from the Middle East supplied by the Jaffarid Sultanate, but these are more limited due to the problems the Jaffarids face. An emmisary is sent to Kanem, offering trade and sending missionaries to convert them to Islam (MOD RESPONSE).
    • Jaffarid Sultanate: Domestically, the Sultanate continues to advance and modernize their society. Proto-industrialization is implemented in the major cities of Damascus, Aleppo and Baghdad. Modern technology is used for economy to mine precious minerals and natural resources to export abroad from France and Belka to China and Bengal. Culture in music and art adopts a more neo-classical style. Abroad, however, the nation faces a crisis. Seeing an impending collapse of the Caliphate, all the vassals attempt to assert their independence. The Sultan of Cyprus asserts himself as an independent merchantile state, Iran breaks off as a fully-independent Persian dynasty, defending their lands by the Zaragos moutnains. The Turkic vassals in the north also break off. Even Oman faces a new Qamarid insurgency. While this goes on, the followers of Badr in Hejaz and Syria leads revolts against the Jaffarids and the Caliph by proxy. Thus, with all this going on, the Jaffarids are unable to send much support to the Caliph in Egypt, but focuses on their internal problems.
    • This Hejazist and Badrist revolt is ASB,because Hejazist and Badrist would revolt against an Islamic Caliphate while knowing it would weaken the state to a christian revolt. It would be the same as if US militias attacked the US as California declared independence -Sultan
      • Maghreb Dip: Sultan Faruk sends an envoy to Kanem, asking them to convert to Islam and to attack the Ethiopian Empire. In return the Maghreb will give the state rights to trade up north and new military training and weponry
    • Ethiopian Empire: Emperor Iyasu in Madinah Jamil gathers together the feudal patriarchs of the pricely states in Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Sudan. Iyasu plans a new era for the Ethiopian Empire, one where all the Coptic and Amharic people of East Africa can live free and independent of Muslim rule. Prince Theodore is put in charge of the military expedition to conquer the north, being a potentially brilliant commander and expert tactitian. Theodore started first by praying at the Ark of the Covenant, then move the army of 120,000 troops northward to battle agianst the Arab forces in Upper Egypt. By the end of the year, the Siege of Herekropolis falls the to the Christian forces. The Second Arab-Ethiopian War has begun. The Pope Mark V dies in Alexandria. The Coptic Presbyters in Medinah Jamil elect the new Coptic Pope, John XV. Pope John sends emmisaries to Kanem, offering trade sending Coptic missionaries to convert them to Coptic Chrisitanity (MOD RESPONSE)
      • Kanem accepts the trade deal. Some of the animists in Kanem convert, but the large Muslim population does not. ~Cal
  • Russia: Tsarist forces solidify their position in the north and the Baltics. As Pyotr attempts to march on Moscow he is stopped and the battle grounds down. Both sides begin to dig in with trenches running across the northern and western parts of the cities outskirts. Priest Gavrilo Dmitrievich declares himself leader of the Holy Russian Order in Ukraine and wages a "holy war" against the Don and Ukrainian Cossacks. East of that the Russian Republic made gains in south and inflicted a large defeat on traditionalist forces near Orenburg. With much of the southwest under its control, Republican troops launched a failed exidtion to capture Omsk, and "spread the revolution" to Siberia. In the Traditionalists temporary capital in Kaluga, Tsar Giorgi and his generals suffered under intense pressure and arguments. In the fall during one argument, a military man walked into the conference room. His name was Dzhozef Ayrons. Ayrons was a brutal and efficient Cossack from Kuban. His training in the Imperial army was one thing, but his grudge for Pyotr and grasp for power was another thing. Ayrons asked for one thing, power, in return for serving the Traditionalists. In weapons terms the Republicans had the clear advantages. What could only be described as Proto-Industrial gun production had increased and so had cannon making. The Republic  also found unlikely allies with Baltic separatist forces and the Cossacks currently fighting of the HRO. The largest faction territory size in the civil war had to have been the RPR controlling at least a 3rd of Russia and half of Siberia. Bobrov himself wasn't keen to get involved in issues further west and wanted to concern himself with colonial conquest, but what his generals kept pressing him, was to take Irkutsk. If his troops took Irkutsk that would be a decent chunck of manpower no side could take. The politics of the Republic in now officially Volgograd (the city was named this from Levgrad due to the triachy established by the "Big Three" in the republic) were much of workers, peasants and the military all clashing, their were riots in the streets, and many who were arrested were sent to penal battalions on the Don or the Kazan fronts. Zhukov was the economist, Davidovich the statesman, and Korelov the military man. On a minor note the "expedition to Liberate the Lithuanian brothers" failed miserably as even outnumbered five to one a group of 1000 professional Polish soldiers massacred the expedition. The Static warfare around Moscow had been seen before in conflicts such as the Great Turkish War but nothing on this scale. Large heavy guns delivered massive bombardments to which after the barrage stopped some god knows number of men would get up and run towards the other side and either take the trench, or get mowed down in the process. The independent gun designed Markov, however, creates the idea of one gun that than continuously spout fire and mow down an entire wave of enemy soldiers. The Russian Pacific Republic expands Novoaleutia north 5 px, and Tuvov 5 px east and west.
    • Belkan Dip: We offer to assist the Russian Tsar if he confirms that he will indeed uphold Slavic traditions something Belka prides itself on and something Russia to should pride itself on. We also do offer our support hoping to prevent some sort of ridiculous republican concept as well as a religious zealot state on out northern border.
    • Tsary Pyotr Rurik accepts and gives in to the Belkan requests. Pyotrs accepts this to stand up against his brother Giorgi who is Tsar of the Blues.
    • Saxon Dip to Traditionalists: Looking to counterattack Saxon support the Saxons use their influence to convince many HRE States that Pytor is a threat and that they should support the Traditionalists. Thus they offer to support the Blues with funding, training, and weapons if they promise to leave Europe alone upon winning the civil war as they want nothing to do with Europe and Europe wants nothing to do with them.
    • Tsar Giorgi and the Traditionalist Bureau accept the Saxon dip.
  • Malaya: The King develops a taste for the durian, although widely regarded as a repulsive fruit smelling of something most foul. • Belkan Empire: The Empire continues to resolidify itself around its new capital in Belgrad. The city has been more or less off the map for foreigners for decades until now. The Cities Opulent streets and buildings give way to an air of richness that is meant to inspire awe and impress visitors. It is the model city for the empire. Its growth has also become one of note having absorbed nearly 400,000 people in less than 20 years from all parts of the empire turning it into a Metropolis of the empire. Belgrad's nexus of trade on the Danube river has afforded not only the launching of Belgrad into one of europes most prominent cities but has also increased the value and attractiveness of living on the Danube river with settlements spawning all over the Danube hoping to capitalize on the sheer volume of trade which has begun to flow through the river in greater numbers than before. While this is going on the Tsar also finances further projects to establish schools for the children of the nobility, merchants, and other high level individuals and even opens it up to the Freemen who in many cases make enough to send their children off to these schools. The Military remains a strict bastion with no commissions given on anything but merit and training. While this is the case many nobles and their children (mostly second sons) are able to take up effective positions in the military as leaders, soldiers, and tacticians/officers. With Russias massive civil war occuring to the north Tsar Petar extremely adamant about seeing Christian zealots on his border as well as a republic begins moving troops to the border with moldavia and traffics arms across to help the beleagured cossacks and Ukrainians. Is he suggesting they get rid of an organised Church? Why would a senior bishop suggest such a bizarre idea?] and would like some clarification (Mod Response please). In other news, Prince Paulo of Mzerka and his entourage arrive in Rome and are greeted by the Pope and the Curia. 1704

Benin has fallen apart compeletly into a Warring States era. You want details? too bad, it's a black hole of malaria.

A Massive battle takes place outside of Edo leading to the end of the Genji main army and ending their bid for the shogunate. Abe now turns his attention to the smaller but still potent Daimyo.

The Ukrainians and Cossacks rally their forces inflicting a clear and decisive defeat on the Orthodox zealots and retaking Kiev allowing their army to regroup and accept the Belkan Expeditionary force in a position of strength.

From various sources the Zulus adopt guns for the first time as well forming some of their own line infantry regiments in small numbers.

Austrian Influence into the isolated alpine and south german states begins with many falling under Austrias economic and political umbrella.

The Relative inactivity by either side during the war in northern Germany leads many to conclude no battle will actually take place. Even with Scandinavian forces somewhat over the border, many of the arrayed forces lower their guard assuming this is now just posturing. (Unprepared defenders -15 for any battles on the german side for this extending into two algos.)

  • Rashidun Caliphate: Having fully fortified Cairo against attack, the Caliph organizes the Kilab Al-Rub to secure the most important treasures of Egypt within the Cairo citidel: the Three Treasures of Egypt, the Mantle and Seal of Muhammad, and the gallery of Al-Rahim. While this goes on, the Caliph continues to make charismatic speeches for the people of Cairo to defend their homes and livelihood against the potential Christian invaders. The military brought in from Morocco is diverted primarily down the Nile river to halt the Ethiopian invasion beyond Herekropolis. A proclomation is issued by the Ulema, denouncing the existence of the Ethiopian Empire as a legitimate government.
    • Jaffarid Sultanate: The nation continues to develop modern technology for the military and the economy. This technology is proto-industrial. The people groups in the nation are homogenous in both religion and ethnicity, with some political differneces causing the recent insurrections. Art and music continues to take more of a neo-classical style. A swift military expedition across Syria and down Hejaz manages to quickly put down the revolt of the extremist Banu Badr, and thus opens up the door to send more troops in help of the Caliph. First the military gathered at Mosul and crushed the rebels in Mari, then proceeded south to the final siege in Jeddah. However, the war continues as the many vassals remaining in the Middle East have broken off as well.
    • Ethiopian Empire: With the collective military of all the Ethiopian princes sent north, the Emperor calls together the feudal leaders in Medinah Jamil in a grand council. This organization of princes work to negotiate a fully-united government centered around the Solomonic Dynasty. Meanwhile, Prince Theodore attempts to move north against the Nile, but quickly discovers the way heavily fortified by the Moroccan forces. Instead, he pushes eastward to claim the Eastern Desert as far as Abu Simnel.
  • Al-Afriqia State: Sultan Aseel orders large amounts of prisoners to work in the mines as a way to increase more positive feedback from the Zayiyrian community and to further Zayiyr's economy through free labor. Sunhaib and Raashid are among the prisoners and eventually gather a group of twenty prisoners to rebel against the guards, however, it ends with the death of eleven and Raashid and Sunhaib being whipped. Sultana Werababa is found dead on June 14th, and is subsequently buried next to Sultan Jalaal's grave. Sultan Aseel, mentally breaking down and developing a large necessity of food (IRL Eating disorder), and begins a more dominant and violent reign. He commences the "Purge of the inferior (؛عقلث خب فاث هىبثقهخق)", and orders his entire military to kill any and all citizens within Zayiyr that follow Kuzirism as to religiously purge the entirety of the religion from Zayiyr. This causes large outrage, and two unsuccessful assassination attempts later down the line. The amount of deaths from the purge has totaled 20,000 this year. The Sultan begins his decent into becoming a recluse inside of his palace, and rarely leaves outside of commenting how good the State will be afterward the great purge. A book entitled "Death by Dishonor (]ثشفا لاغ ]هساخىخق)" is published and past around throughout the outer regions of Afriqia. The book runs through the events of the purge and how it has affected both Kuzir's and Muslim's. The book introduces a small, new literary revolution within Al-Afriqia, as more short stories of the events of what people have seen throughout the purge are being told and written down.
  • China: Following the dissolution of the three dominions in favor of a more centralized unitary system instating provinces, the Korean aristocracy begins to distrust the increasingly distanced Emperor. Many intellectuals see this as against the pursued policy of Korean militaristic neutrality which allowed it to preserve cohesiveness and independence during the Korean Dark Age (under the late fifteenth century up until the early sixteenth century; coinciding with the anti-Korean Muslim late Ming and short-lived Bao dynasties). As a result, dissent spreads among the Korean-speaking Northeast, manifesting itself into riots in some city squares. Furthermore, several anti-Catholic Nestorianist extremists (seeing the increasingly unpopular Emperor is a Catholic) begin orchestrating attacks targeted on minority Catholic missionaries and Churches. This dissent finally ends in the assassination of the Emperor and his immediate family, minus his young son. His former imperial consort becomes Empress dowager, and sets up an interim council of political allies to control and quell separatist revolts in the Northeast. She declares a state of martial law and sets up centers in Dalian to aid fleeing Catholics.
    • Papal Diplomacy: The Papal Nuncio is killed in the rioting, and his second-in-command, who manages to escape, urges the Empress Doawger to do everything within her power to end this absurd uprising, including meeting with high-ranking Nestorian prelates.
  • Malaya: The King announces the birth of the Princes Bintang and Shin Tang, the first set of twins recorded in the Royal Family. Trade continues in ports nationwide. The economy continues to improve, while a Guild of Blacksmiths is created to produce high quality products from the combination of different skills. Shadow theater is a common sighting in the Royal Palace, with the King and Queen sharing the same interest in the art. A prototype violin created in Sabah a few years ago is introduced to a blacksmith in Johor. He refines it and adds a tuning mechanism to change the pitch of each string.
  • Mapuche: Mapundungun, our newly crowned monarch, continues to direct our tribesmen with our newfound European technology as we expand down the mountains and into the plains, going along the OTL Salado River with France. As we continue to subjugate the other tribes around us with brute force, we begin to establish more organized bands of men in our rank, setting our concentration into developing an army. Mapundungun, seeing how our sucessful our conquests were, begins to feel confident against outside world, and debates if we should be sending traders around the continent. Mapundungun also decides to move our capital (OTL Santiago) to the town of Ayelen.
    • Just an FYI the Mapuche hate all colonials. -Feud

  • Hawaii: Infrastructure on the island of Hawaii continues to be improved with the additional funds from the king's tax. In particular agricultural land is expanded, and plans are made for a network of roads around the island, to improve transportation and communication throughout the kingdom. The construction of the war fleet continues, at this pointbecoming the largest in the islands. In the north of the island a shipwreck appears near Kailua, and the local chief Kalani Kama Keʻeaumoku-nui sends a detachment of soldiers to investigate. To his surprise the ship is discovered to be much larger than any ship ever seen in his lifetime. Of the surviving crew members of the ship, most are killed in a resulting brawl with Hawaiian men. The ship is raided and some equipment is seized, such as a few metal swords. Kalani Kama Keʻeaumoku-nui eventually pardons the remaining survivors, who attempt to adapt to Hawaiian life. Over the course of the year most of the survivors have died or married into Hawaiian society. Some of the women in contact with these sailors begin to contract lesions on their body (syphilis), and become outcasts of society or killed. (Note: this is rooted in OTL, as evidence shows that prior to contact with Europeans proper, Hawaiians already had contact with Syphilis. In-game they probably already have as well. Radiocarbon dating of Hawaiian remains possibly from as early as the fifteenth have confirmed that syphilis was present on the islands. Also James Cook's accounts confirm that the Hawaiians had some metal blades before he got there. I am not specifying where the shipwreck is from exactly, but even if you believe it is unlikely any European would shipwreck in the area based on the current state of trade routes in the region, there is evidence that Japanese ships shipwrecked in the area during this time anyway.) During a religious ceremony at the end of the year the Chief of Kona presents one of the swords to Keawe II, who treasures the gift. Largely isolated up to this point, and fascinated by the metal object, Keawe II orders groups of nalehia and some of the largest ships Hawaii has, to explore their surrounding area. Using traditional Polynesian navigational techniques, four groups set off. One group conducts a successful trade mission in Kaua'i and Ni'ihau, obtaining more information about islands to the west. The party reaches Nihoa, a small island containing only a few forests, and later Mokumanamana, which they explore in search of Menehune people, but come up empty handed. They return home, hoping to bring this information to Hawaii by early next year. In the meanwhile the other three groups discover little of note, and one of the groups disappears during a storm.

The Prefect of the Mzerka Mission asks that, since Mzerka now has a seminary churning out young Mzerkan priests, and given the renowned faithfulness of the Mzerkans, Mzerka might consider sending missionaries to the nearby tribes and nations to spread the true Faith.

  • Russia: With the Holy Order Crushed the Cossacks and Ukrainians turn on their Republican allies, launching an attack on their western armies in their own lines. Much of the Republican Western army is destroyed providing a crisis in the Republics ranks. With the Republic diverting more men to the Western Front Traditionalist Forces launch a sudden surprise attack wrecking the frontline marching towards Tsaritsyn. Zhukov flees to the Province of Terek. Up North Tsar Pyotr with his imagination begins to draw up a New Flag for Russia, showing Tsarist Rule will stay for years to come. While being busy in Belgrad, Petar begins to become ever more distracted by his new young wife Anna Petrov who bears him a son whom he names Vladimir or more shortly Vlad. He is to be raised as the first of the new Czars in Belgrad. The Empire sees more growth in its agriculture due to the adoption of new world crops and as a result of this sees large population boom as a result with many new births. The Empire also begins modernizing parts of its navy phasing out the older ships in favor of the newer larger ships of the line such as frigates and the standardized 86 to 102 gun ships of the line giving the navy a much more streamlined process for production.

These efforts continue well into next year, supported by Iberia's own native allies, the Choctaw. Many of the Natchez are scattered and seek refuge among the northern tribes, but some forts manage to hold out.

The Ulema signs off to officially asume control of the port of Gulangyu to the Caliphate itself, and no longer to the disintegrating Jaffarid Sultanante. The military of Morocco is kept concentrated in the Upper Egyptian delta, not wanting to spread the military for fear of being divided and conquered.
    • Jaffarid Sultanate: The nation culturally continues to develop its neo-classical style. The population is more homogenized culturally and linguistically, especially after the revolts last year were crushed in Hejaz. The Sultan proceeds to send the military on an expedition southward, once again besieging Masqat and forcing them to submit as a vassal once again, before turning northward to crush the revolt at Bahl. The military is then brought back to Mesopotamia to manage the remaining vassals in revolt.
    • Ethiopian Empire: Emperor Iyasu gathers the Princes in council at Medinah Jamil, where they draft a full constitution for establishing the nation. This constitution centralizes the government around the Emperor at Medinah Jamil, with total authority over the nation administrated by the Princes. In the north, Prince Theodore leads the army to spread out across their conquests so far, focusing westward to capture the nomadic Red Lands.
  • Malaya: After some modifications, the violin makes its way to becoming an essential element in Malay orchestra and music. Although expensive and uncommon like the piano, many are swayed by its ability to play music. An incident in a market in Kuala Lumpur has a lunatic locked up in the local prison. Several scholars express their interest in studying this case of "possession", and request for the study of his behaviour and violent tendencies. Several bridges are constructed across rivers, mostly in urban areas to cope with the population.
  • Ifriqiya: Trade: We continue trade with Europe and Africa, this causes traders meet up in smaller city to help create more major cities. The State also begins to try its hand at the spice and salt trade via selling salt and spices, gold is slow down to prevent inflation. Trade with the New World counties as New World food and items becoming the new fab to wear/use. The Sultan mixes European and Eastern rifles and work on a weapon called Assad, this rifle is mass produce and begins to arm and train his army with them. Cavalry is also improved on as the test of Cavalry with guns are expanded on. Government: Sultan Mustafa is given the title Sultan, his first act is proclaiming to rename the Maghreb to "Ifrigiya". Living structures are improved so more jobs can happen across the state. Event: The Ifrigiya troops and Caliphate troops are sent to attck Abu Simble, after the Maghreb navy makes it way down the Nile and begin to bombard the city and force Ethiopian forces out of the city, during the battle the battle the navy is used to help troops or cut possible escape routes, as this happens, A series a spies are sent to the red line to follow the army, when possible the group of spies would set up dry plants across the army and set it ablaze to make the army thirsty. We begin to send troops to the Ndogon civil war (via boating and crossing borders) and send supply to the Muslim factions. WE ASK RUM TO JOIN THE FIGHT IN MISR (MOD)
    • Tajammad Emirate. Forts are set up in the north region to help protect the Emirate. New World food is sent back home to be traded. Our ships begin to train on how to sail the rocky seas to reach the Pacific Ocean and study the ways to the Pacific Ocean. Due to the way of the New World women are given more physically as in helping create the wall or guarding areas. The port (not the best or biggest) of Tajammad is re-made along with ocean defense walls and gun ports made along with 50 cannons. The population stands at 30,720 people with a slow rise in population. The Ona state is annexed into the Emirate and Ona majority areas are put under an Ona that accepted Islam named Hassan al Badr but some question his loyalty and if he converted just to gain power, Islam with the Ona people slowly rise as a 50% percent in the Ona Population become Muslim, as the Ona state is named the Ona Bukrain. Seeing the killing of Tajjamdians the State begins to hold up strong military view as the Emir begins to arm more colonist. An Ona army goes to war and the Tajammad is sent to help with the 14,000 troops. they march onto merchar state and annex it.
    • Emirate of Al Maqadas: The Emirate is set up in Port Alegre and walls and houses are placed up to bring cover to the population of 30,000 people. A port is worked on. The Emirate begins to expand north west by 10 px. More Arms and sent to Emirate to help arm the people of the Emirate.
  • Mapuche: We continue to expand along thr OTL Salado River as we attempt to expand our resources that we already have. Mapundungun decides to send traders around the continent looking for goods. We start to build fortifications in Ayelen, with the intent of improving the defenses that we have already established.
  • Belkan Empire: Czar Petar continues to delve much more into his familial life but also begins organizing the new array of family and noble politics attempting to outmaneuver and outwit the masses of his family. The Dracultesti dynasty now being made up of hundreds of individuals stemming from all the second sons among others has left a large family with a claim to the throne which potentially serves as a threat to the Czar. With the recent uprising of Johann having been crushed they are pacified but Petar remains cautious. While this is underway the streamlining of the navy continues with many of the more odd ships being phased out in favor of the 102-88 gun ships as well as 72 gun ships and 56 gun ships making them all standardized. Some other further investment if put into the navy specifically with the establishment of key roles for officers, and clear cut rules as well as the Atinograd (Athens) naval academy, as well as the Vasiligrad and Trieste Naval Schools in addition to the Army colleges in Tarnovo, Vasiligrad, and Sofiya. Support in the Russian civil war continues as the Czar orders the 35,000 strong force to work alongside the flagging Cossacks and Ukrainians in order to break the lines and push the Republicans towards their tenative capital. The Superior training, supply, and tactics of the Belkan force as well as their looking to avoid battles which allow the Republicans to utilize their numbers culminates in a battle near Kursk which leaves the Republican forces disastrously disarrayed against the first use of the Belkan Grenadiers which cause immense damage to the Republican lines to great effect. This remains clear proof in the superiority of Belka's professional forces over the mass use of manpower rabble.
  • Angu: The Angu begin to increase their interactions with the Zia, including more and more marriages. Furthermore, stable contact with Kâte is ensured as the Angan raiders ensure that tresspassers keep away from their lands. The Namton A'fao begins making plans for the future of the Angu tribes and all those under them.
  • Russia: Tsar Pyotr begins to get impatient, and begins a push to Ukraine to unite with Belkan and Ukrainian-Cossack Troops. 40,000 Tsarist troops begin their march to the titanic battle at Kursk, were already 300,000 men from both sides are locked in the battle. In the Republic Davidovich begins to panic, with the famine he sets into motion his "Yearly Plans", and issues larger numbers for amount of food produced, or else. Zuhkov fearing for his life flees to the Italian League, making his way through Pontus and Rum. The Republic begins to pull men from towns and force them to fight. Sending 30,000 more to the Western Front. Further north on the Republican-Traditionalist Frontier no side makes its move, as a large offensive would mean loosing elsewhere. However, Tsar Pyotrs Ukraine expedition is in a crisis, 40,000 Traditionalist conscripts from Mogilev and White Ruthenia threatens to cut off his army. By this point all sides are fielding 300,000 men or more. To the far east a punitive military expedition launched by the Siberian Governate makes Bobrov surrender in return for his life and position. Tuvov is expanded 7px east and west, Novoaleutia is expanded 7px north.
The Sultan continues funding art and culture. Following the disastrous defeat, we begin to start a more passive campaign on defending the foothills of Eastern Aliwa (Zimbabwe) and fighting a war of attrition against the Rowzi. Officers and reinforcement is sent to rally the routed soldiers to return for defence. We set up multiple patrols and small forts at the foothills. 20,000 soldiers are pulled back for reorganization, leaving 25,000 men to defend Eastern Aliwa (Zimbabwe). The Sultan uses his private treasury to provide a small fund to the families of all who died in the disaster of Mazabuka. More soldiers are being conscripted and trained, and the council prepares an offensive from Sofala and Quelimane to the Rowzi Homeland, which is assumed to not be properly defended.
    • Sultanate of Qamar: Qamar is further developed.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep is further developed.
    • Your entire army was pushed out of Zimbawbwe entirely -Feud
  • Al-Afriqia State: The total deaths from the "Purge of the inferior" has risen to 67,000. Sunhaib is found to have escaped the prison through a guard whom believed in what he was saying, and search parties were immediately sent out. The guard was properly executed later in the year.
  • Hawaii: Infrastructure on the island of Hawaii continues to be improved with the additional funds from the king's tax. In particular agricultural land is expanded, and plans are made for a network of roads around the island, to improve transportation and communication throughout the kingdom. The construction of the war fleet continues, at this point becoming the largest in the islands. The trade group/exploration party from the northwestern islands of Hawaii returns and reports the current status of Nihoa and Mokumanamana to the king. Please with the findings, he orders additional voyages to follow up the first. Over the course of the year it is discovered that ten islands/atolls/mokupāpapa run to the northwest before the expedition turns back, although some ships venture further west confident that more islands will appear. Midway through the year Keawe II unexpectedly falls ill. Sensing that he is close to death, he assembles the nobles once more and have them swear fealty to his son, Keeaumoku Nui. Keeaumoku Nui relinquishes his title of Chief of Kona to his youngest brother, Kamehameha, in an attempt to appease the young and ambitious warrior. Kamehameha, already in possession of the valuable Waipio Valley, the young chief manages to seize control over the district of Hamakua through marriage with the new chieftess. Keawe II dies in his sleep later in the year, and Keeaumoku Nui is crowned Aliʻi Nui of Hawaii. Before he dies, Keawe II grants Kamehameha a prominent religious position, guardianship of the Hawaiian god of war, Kūkāʻilimoku. Although the most appropriate man for the position, due to his high prestige and mana, this causes a strain in the relationship between Kamehameha and his older brothers. Kamehameha uses his new position to make a dedication to the gods instead of the new king, further worsening relations. When Kamehameha manages to lift the legendary Naha Stone, many begin to flock to Kamehameha, claiming he is the fulfillment of prophecy, a notion that the king and other chiefs reject strongly. Those who do defend the young chief, primarily his vassals and relatives, call Kamehameha the Unifier Ka Na`i aupuni.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot:We keep mining gold in Diltwa wituye and keep building roads from Diltwa Wituye to Mzer. We also Send Christian missionaries to other tribes where they tell about God and about the Greatness of our country. We also ask Iberia if they can build a small five boat fleet with cannon on them (or isn't that now) and a good harbour (Iberia response)This is so that we can explore the continent in their name. We also ask the Vatican to do Year reports to us,and We invite the pope to visit mzerka this will be a visit of one year max(one turn)to show the Pope the improvements (Vatican response)

The Sultanate of Rum refuses the offer from Maghreb instead hoping to focus on internal stability and development

The Russian Civil war continues in earnest with massive fielded forces from all elements putting almost 900,000 men or more in the field, an absolutely insane amount. However, with the fate of all of Russia at stake all sides have begun to throw their all behind the conflict with the Traditionalists and the Loyalists being the more dominant forces in the field.

The Rozwi Empire surprises the Swahili forces once again at the coast with two armies fielding nearly 100,000 men in two armies with many of these new troops coming from Great Zimbawbwe which now declares its allegiance towards the Rozwi.

The British and Burgundians both see a new wave of mass immigration from their homelands to their colonies with the British getting major immigration to Arcadia and the Burgundians getting much of their immigration to their Caribbean and Northern Laurentian colonies.

  • China: With the revolt under the process of being suppressed, a mass purge of separatist aristocrats begins, as the entirety of the Korea province placed under stringent martial law, with the hopae system being utilized to track down the movement of key individuals. Empress dowager Lee Young-sam poisons her son (who is coming near of age) to avoid any threats to her power, and instead insists on her infant nephew to be given the throne, with her as the regent. In face of the political turmoil, she begins appointing more ethnic Chinese to provincial governments under a policy of "Hannicization". Similar policies are implemented in Manchuria, in which many Korean court officials are forced to resign in-favour of Manchu collaborationists. In Beijing, the imperial court is dissolved, with the Joseon state-council being reinstated as the pseudo-legislative body. Members are appointed by the monarch, with only ministers and eunuchs being eligible for membership. Intended to counter the power of the monarch, this marks the end of three centuries of Korean pseudo-absolutism pioneered by King Taejong, and the reversal of the government to the more decentralized Goryeo-era model (and more inclined to traditional Chinese dynasties).
  • Saxony: Saxony continues to support the Traditionalist with Money, Weapons and most importantly Grain and other food stuffs which allows them to take more men off the farms and send them to battle. Also Saxony begins lobbying in the HRE for a halt to be put to the Scandinavian-Prussian War so both sides can turn their attention to the Russian civil war.
  • Al-Afriqia State: With deaths now reaching just under 100,000 from the purge, the economy begins to stagnate, but remains somewhat afloat due to prisoners still working, however, the loss of consumers to buy goods causes the economy to lose traction slightly. One of the first factually-based fictional books within Zayiyr is created, titled "A story of six lives (ِ سفخقغ خب سهء مهرثس)". The story tells about about six Kuzir followers who leave Zayiyr and travel to Benin, but eventually are caught on the border and killed. This story prompts similar concept books of citizens fleeing Zayiyr for new lives in nations.
  • Angu: The Angu begin increasing trade with the Bilibil who come from the north. The trade goes well, with the council requesting expanded relations between the Angu and the Bilibil, which would include expanding the Bilibil trading routes and protecting them while the Bilibil would provide their resources at a cheaper value (no currency currently, so basically lessened bartering)1. Another interaction is with the Sambia, who have very peculiar rituals. The Namton A'fao presents himself as a sorcerer who will ensure the safety of the Sambia men from the harmful women (Yes, the men are afraid the women are basically witches who trap them with some form of magic)2. The interactions with the Zia also go well, to which the Namton A'fao summons the council in order to negotiate further intertwining with the Zia clans 3 (basically a vassalization offer, I already created some marrital ties between the Zia and Angu, and since the Zia trace lineage matrilineally a lot of next generation Angu will be Zia too by default). I need three. MOD RESPONSEs.
  • Rashidun Caliphate: The Caliph begins to reorganize Cairo as a proper city-state under the direct rule of the Ulema. The Kilab Al-Rub operate as military and guards, more than capable of enforcing justice and order within the city. The tithes and fees of the theocracy are deployed for the upkeep of the city and development of defenses. Fearing the impending invasion of the Coptics, the Muslim population of Cairo stand as one body, one grand congregation under the Caliph. Some ships are loaned from the Sultanate of Cyprus in order to re-open their trade with China through Gulangyu. The Moroccan troops are deployed to besiege the city of Abu Simbel, that ancient site of pagan monuments, in order to break the Ethiopian lines.
    • Jaffarid Sultanate: Culture continues to advance with the neo-classical style, adapting Greco-Roman designs to steadily replace the earlier baroque art. Technology continues to advance to stay on top of Europe. Most of the technology is used to harvest natural resources and export them to strengthen the economy. As Oman is subjugated once again, the Jaffarid navy in the Indian Ocean is combined with the navy of Oman, and plans are made for a possible invasion of Ethiopia when possible. For now, there is no danger as Ethiopia has no navy of their own. In the mean time, The Sultan of Cyprus is assassinated by his brother, who takes over the government with the intention to help the Caliph and Jaffarids.
    • Ethiopian Empire: Emperor Iyasu continues to develop his court at Medina Jamil, granting to each of the princes feudal titles of nobility under his authority. He declares Ethiopia to be officially independent of the Caliphate, dissolving all authority and bonds that were cruelly subjugated to them with the First Arab-Ethiopian War. He sets up plans for further irrigation in the future. Coptic Christianity is made the official religion of the Empire, tolerating other Abrahamic faiths such as Islam under discrimination. Prince Theodore continues to advance 20,000 troops in the eastern desert up the coast, but was forced to pull back with the unexpected attack on Abu Simbel. Being a brilliant commander, however, Theodore quickly re-routes the 50,000 in the western desert to circle down from the north, cutting off the Muslim forces near the city, which is defended by 100,000 troops. Reinforcements to the city are brought up from Ethiopia itself. Sailing ships in the Blue Nile resupply the soldiers in the south. The spies make the advance of Theodore quite treacherous, and slows down his progress to next year.
    • Nate you need to post troop numbers and such. There needs to be something we can look at and quantify. -Feud
  • Malaya: The Royal Navy and Royal Guard is replenished with new men, to keep the ranks fresh and capable. Veteran soldiers are either promoted to higher ranks or dismissed based on their achievements. Expansion across Borneo continues, and we expect to reach the eastern coastline in a few years. The University of Malaya concludes that the "possession" of people is caused by imbalance in food or superstitious beliefs. Either way, there is debate in the institution over the nature of this "possession".
  • Swiss Confederacy: The Swiss enact a new policy in the Tagastzung, which sets forth building several universities. The Swiss install former soldiers, diplomats, and merchants as teachers to teach students "the basics of life" and about the world that they have seen. With this program, the Swiss hope to create a new generation of children who are very good with social skills and know a lot about the outside world. A Swiss intellectual by the name of Hans Zurenberg begins attempting to create a unified Swiss language for the country. These are part of several other policies by the confederacy to create a "swiss people" motivated on the ideas of freedom and democracy. Zurenberg hopes to finish his language by 1710. The Swiss also send a Diplomat to Basel and Three Leagues hoping to admit the kingdoms as one of the Confederacy's Cantons(mod response). They also begin to assemble an expedition of a band of traders, soldiers, and diplomats to go through Italy, cross the Mediterranean, and make contact with North African peoples for a "cultural exchange". The Explorers sent to North Africa come back with advanced technology and various Islamic books. They start a school of Islamic Mathematics and Art in Zurich, where they teach Algebra and various other Islamic sciences to students, hoping to increase the Confederacy's civil engineering and sciences. Some of the explorers converted to Islam, and have started to spread it among intellectuals as the "New Age Religion", although it hasn't caught on all that much among the common people. The Swiss also send Diplomats to Savoy in hope of better relations(Savoy Response). MOD RESPONSES NEEDED FOR BASEL AND THREE LEAGUES.
    • Savoy Diplomacy: Savoy provides the necessary accreditation to the Swiss envoys, and begins to discuss closer ties between the two nations which share a common culture. Hearing of Zurenberg's efforts, we encourage him to work towards a language that leans towards Franco-Provençal.
  • Belkan Empire: With the civil war against the Republicans going extremely well the Czar marshalls the now fully trained and prepared Belkan army bringing the total strength of Belka's professional forces in Russia to nearly 80,000 while former duties are taken up by nearly 150,000 garrison and national guard troops. The Army in tandem with Ukranian and Cossack forces pushes well into Republican Territory embarking in the Short but decisive battle of Tsaritsyn where the full force of Belkas army, racing ahead of the Ukrainian and Cossack forces the Belkan forces deploy right outside the city bombarding it with volleys of cannonfire outright obliterating the defensive fortifications set up leaving just the trenches in tact. With this in mind the terrified republicans put up a valiant defense. However, the usage of grenades and extremely brutal close quarters combat leaves what's left of Tsaritsyn in Belkan/Ukrainian hands. The Belkans then begin spreading out into the surrounding country setting up posts for the Ukrainians and Cossacks to occupy and garrison as the Main Belkan forces march north to sandwich the Traditionalists. However, they meet small but determined resistance from the Traditionalists as they push north leaving the leadership confused as of how to proceed. The homefront sees some issue as the promise of Czar Petar to remain out of war has essentially become broken. However, Czar Petar reiterated that the damage done to Russia by itself will reverberate through Europe in many ways, and in this case Belka having a strong hand in helping the Russian Tsar reclaim his rightful place will lead to extremely favorable circumstances with Russia in the future. The population boom continues with the Belkan population now reaching roughly 14.7 million and growing. The home economy regardless of involvement in the civil war remains strong.
  • The Tripoli state: Trade: We continue trade with Europe and Africa, this causes traders meet up in smaller city to help create more major cities. Government: Al Qqas is seen saying in Tripoli,(after the fall of Misr) the Caliphate is gone and we have create our own state" his first act is proclaiming to rename the Maghreb to "Ifrigiya". Living structures are improved so more jobs can happen across the state. Event:Seeing the Caliph leaving the troops out to die the Sultan leaves the city bording naval ships and fell back to Marsa Matruh, when their the Sultan leaves, this causes a few days of uncertainty, this caused a general "Al Aqqas" to take charge of the army and declares freedom annexing the new land (and M'zab,Feezan and Djerid) (map coming up). A Jihad is called upon the foes of the Caliphate and an army of 65,000 troops (and 16,250 mercs) are sent to Invade Southern Egypt with Naval Support of 300 ships to fight Ethiopia
    • Tajammad: Forts are set up in the north region to help protect the Emirate.
    • Al Maqadas: The Emirate is set up in Port Alegre and walls and houses are placed up to bring cover to the population of 30,000 people. A port is worked on. The Emirate begins to expand north west by 10 px. More Arms and sent to Emirate to help arm the people of the Emirate.
One of the king's exploration groups returns to Hawaii, having visited Kalama Atoll (Johnston Atoll). However, they report that after sailing west from the island for several days they did not encounter any additional islands. Another trade mission is sent to the northwest, however, on its return voyage it is suddenly fired upon by Aliʻi nui Kekaulike, Moʻi of Maui. The king claims that earlier in the year Hawaiians from Kona had raided his southern shore, and this was in retribution. Keeaumoku Nui, unaware of any actions his more reckless brother may have taken, denies the allegations, but is also hesitant to attack his neighbor. The king notes that Kekaulike's uncle Kaeokulani rules Oʻahu, Lānaʻi, and Molokaʻi, and fears the combined forces of these islands would be difficult for the Hawaiians to match. Unbeknownst to the Hawaiian monarch, Kekaulike departs on a voyage to Kaua'i to visit his wife's home, taking a large portion of his army with him. When he stops in Waimanalo on O'ahu a fight breaks out between the king and his uncle, who claims Maui for himself. Kamehameha catches word of this from allies in Maui, and launches his own invasion without the support of the king. Kamehameha manages to capture the island, defeating the relatively small garrison left behind. Keeaumoku Nui begrudgingly raises an army to aid his brother, planning to attack O'ahu early the following year with 10,000 men and 1000 war canoes. on O'ahu Kekaulike successfully defeats his uncle, but not without it taking a toll on his army. Unaware of the main invasion force still on Hawaii, Kekaulike splits his army in half and immediately sails to retake Maui.
  • Russia: Large famines spring up across the west. Many people starve to death as all resources are being put towards the military. The famine in the South Brings the Republic to a concluding battle with the Belkan army at Tsaritsyn. The battle is fierce as both sides resort to using explosives and artillery to blow away each ones positions. The Belkan Royal Grenadiers use their Grenades to great effect clearing out many buildings during the battle. The gigantic battle of Kursk, stalemated ends with no clear winner. Traditionalist troops down launch a pincer maneuver yet fail to encircle the Kursk expedition and give battle at Roslavl. Near the Urals Traditionalist troops take Orenberg and cut off the Omsk troops from Siberia, destroying the 25,000 men task force and using them as Penal battalions in a campaign to take Samara. Tsar Pyotr himself begisn to eat smaller meals due to the famines. Tuvov is expanded 7px east and west, Novoaleutia is expanded 7px north.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: So there is now the United Kingdom of Great Britain. We strengthen static defences in the region. Settlers reach the OTL Walter George F Resovoir and start working around there. Continued growth of cash crops which are then sold to Europe. This new wave of immigration is directed into New Essex.

Schools are built across the nation in large amounts with the Burdagan University school of Mathematics opening up this year. Training across the border continues with 100,000 troops being placed across the southern border of the nation. Crop production continues to be successful. The population of the poor dwindles by the year. 56,000 troops are recruited into the military Mas Ubai continues to thrive as one of the richest cities in the empire. We spread our political and religious influence into the Shan States and across India. Laboy Baghdadi is elected as Prime Minister for the next 12 years. More roads and sewers are built across the empire and in the colonies with development in education continuing in West Burdagan.
  • Mapuche: We continue to expand down the OTL Sadalo River, and continue consolidating out control over our surrounding tribes, reminding them of the unknown and dangerous world outside of our lands. The construction on our fort continues in our capital, hoping to increase our security and strengthen our forces there.
The council and Sultan accepts the fact that Zimbabwe is lost and suspects the Rowzi using unholy means to sustain their impossibly large army. 90,000 soldiers are mobilized and sent to guard the Coastal areas. They are ordered not to launch any offensives and to construct guard posts. The old Sultan, at the news of possibly never recovering Zimbabwe, falls under a period of stress and depression and is unfit to lead the nation. He abdicates, passing the throne to his son. The defeat in the hands of Rowzi leads to a strong spirit of revanchism in Swahili as the new Sultan determines that the defeat was due to unholiness in Swahili and announces a series of military reforms and cooperation. The Sultan also starts funding religious projects. Moved by the spiritual revival in the nation, an imam writes "A Pilgrim's Progress", a story about how a man named Jahlasumuu (Ignorace of God) finds salvation. A few merchants develop a drug against Malaria using the plant, sweet wormwood, which was bought from China after hearing its properties against disease. The plant is sent to the madrassah for cultivation. The Sultan also decides to send 1000 royal guard to Europe to act as a mercenary company for five years to learn Western military tactics.
    • Sultanate of Qamar: Qamar is further developed.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep is further developed.
    • Swahili Diplomacy: We ask for military cooperation with European nations.
  • In the Duchy of Savoy, after remarkably successful progress towards Genoa by the Savoyard army under the command of Marshal Benoït Lacroix, French emissaries arrive in Nice to negotiate a peace accord with Duke Ferrand. The resulting Treaty of Nice sees the recognition of Savoyard autonomy as a newly promoted Grand Duchy. Furthermore, Savoy gains control over a coastal region (including Riviere du Comte) of French New Valois. With peace finally settling in over the latter half of the year, reconstruction of various cities, towns, and villages begins with French financing. From the port of Nice there begins to be a major naval rennovation, with new ships beginning to be produced.

1707

  • Great Jin: The Emperor dowager Lee Young-sam launches a decree protecting the rights of religious minorities (especially following Catholic persecution), and officially apologizing for the Hui genocide decades ago. The decree remains, for now, largely unenforced given current circumstances. The Korean separatist revolts persists, though largely in isolated pockets after the armed suppression of dissent coinciding with a purge of oppositional aristocrats. Meanwhile, introduction of modern agricultural techniques and inclusion of high-yield low-maintenance crop varieties obtained via the Columbian Exchange has boosted food supply, it has caused a drop in the prices of agricultural goods. Though many peasants have dealt with this loss by moving on to cash crops or migrating to urban centres (then engaging in merchantile activities or working in industrial workshops), some workers have failed to capitalize on this. Thus many smaller inland villages have experienced social decay, waning prosperity, and human capital flight as the subsistence sector becomes oversaturated. This causes a widespread peasant revolt to grow in Guizhou mainly and other inland provinces, with many calling for the end of potato, sweet potato, and maize cultivation in-favour of solely rice cultivation, and the reversion of the internal financial policy to agriculture promotion. These two coinciding revolts causes a massive drain of the national treasury, and the central government begins to struggle maintaining control amidst political upheaval as the Empire transitions to a more decentralized government to deal with the multiple issues.
    • Laurentian Exchange -Nate
    • Papal Diplomacy: The Pope sends a new Nuncio to the great Jin to replace the one martyred by the Nestorian extremists. The new envoy gives the Emperor Dowager the personal thanks of the Pope for her (?) efforts to improve the situation for Catholics.
    • Bilabil agrees to trade under this policy.
    • Sambia are very grateful for the mystical aid, as their women are particularly hard to control.
    • Zia would prefer working towards a more personal union than vassalization.
  • Rashidun Caliphate: With Cairo itself thus secure, the Caliphate works to expand its control over all the cities within the Nile Delta. Reinforcements come from across the Delta, such as militias of Memphis, Thebes, and Damietta for the common defense. Some ships are loaned from the Sultanate of Cyprus in order to re-open their trade with China through Gulangyu. The Moroccan forces are still used for the main defense of Egypt, fortifying various positions up the Nile towards the Delta.
The Omani navy is fully integrated, and the Red Sea begins to be blockaded from trade with Ethiopia, preparing for invasion next year. With the Sultanate of Cyprus on the Caliphate's side, its ships are deployed to protect the Mediterranean from outside interference. 7000 troops of Cyrpus land in Libya to help Morocco defend it. A military expedition is prepared in Mesopotamia to invade Amurid Persia, in an attempt to bring that vassal back under heal of the Caliphate.
    • Ethiopian Empire: With the court fully integrated at Medinah Jamil, the Emperor Iyasu works to develop the new nation internally. New irrigation policies are used to combat future problems of famine and drought, redirecting the Blue Nile over the more arid regions in the north. The Coptic Church is organized in the nation with the same heirarchy as it had before the war, administrated by Pope John XV. The Monks of the Ark of the Covenant are given particularly generous donations from the government, in the hopes of attracting divine aid for their war. In the north, Prince Theodore manages to pull a strategic miracle, using his forces of only a slight numeric advantage to completely route the troops at Abu Simbel. With his forces then regrouped, he pushes north to besiege the city of Fayyum.
  • Belkan Empire: The Belkan involvement in the Russian Civil War continues with the army now pushing out of the now crumbled and crushed Republican regions. The main force now with purpose returns to Kursk to aid in the final battle in the area. The initial assault is fierce but with support from the main loyalist forces in the area it is a simple matter of grinding down the Traditionalists. However, the awful and sad state of the Russians on both sides is no laughing matter for the Belkans who march into the battle lines at Kursk. Trenches fan out across the landscape, and hundreds of thousands of troops from either side are spread out across the very short but brutal no mans land between both lines. Field Marshall Kamarov takes control of the situation at Kursk and General Joseph Novak is delegated to a lesser role as Kamarov no reorganizes the army to take control of the titanic battle of Kursk. The Belkan army instead of utilizing the human wave tactics and mass battle doctrine favored by the Russian instead tackles the problem head on. In their immaculate Dark Blue and white uniforms with their shining gold buttons, and gleaming bayonets the Belkan Grand Army launches its assault on the Traditionalists at Kursk giving the Loyalists their opening to push on the Traditionalists. However, Kursk has now become a Belkan battle. The First salvo is the most terrifying and effective. Belkan artillery using the pre spotted positions by the Russians sends waves of cannonballs at the Traditionalists which at the early morning hours is something that instills absolute fear in the Traditionalists who now groggy and barely awake only see two separate 40,000 strong Belkan armies marching right up the center unchallenged. The sunlight gleaming off of the Belkan army as well as their strict disciplined force with their flutes and battle drums keeping the pace. The armies are on top of the Traditionalist forces in minutes and from point blank the Grenadiers do their work. By the end of the day the Belkan forces have suffered some casualties but the monotony at Kursk was declared over with the capture of the main city, and the clearing of the central Traditionalist forces. While this is all going on the home front remains stable as economic growth and the major cities continue their growth and prosperity.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: So there is now the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Agricultural revolution. Robert Walpole continues to do well in Parliament.
    • British Arcadia: The Iroquois forming some big confederacy is fine as long as they keep all Europeans out we respect their current territorial integrity and hope that they will respect ours. We strengthen static defences in the region. Settlers name the OTL Walter F George Reservoir as the River Stour like back in Essex. Continued settlement there with another 50 px being colonised in South New Essex.
  • Papal States: Pope Zosimus II decrees further improvments to the military be undertaken over the next few years. The Pope writes to the King of Mzerka, informing him that due to the vast distances involved and the huge potential for harm (the Pope's predecessor was kidnapped by Muslim pirates, remember), Zosimus will not be able to visit Mzerka [Pope's didn't start making big overseas trips until like the 1960s]. However, the Mzerkan letter makes the Pope consider sending a high-ranking Cardinal to visit the mission territories. Prince Paul of Mzerka continues to make great leaps in his education, and his Mzerkan advisors educate him in the ways of his people. Missions continue in the New World, in Korea-China, Giapan, Lan Xang, and Southern Africa.
After the success of the previous expedition to the southwest, a second expedition is dispatched, although smaller due to the outbreak of war in the islands. The group lands on Kalama Atoll again, before setting sail to the west. Due to the favorable currents and winds combined, the group manages to reach land (Marshall Islands) after about a month at sea. They follow an archipelago south before spending time on an island (Majuro), which they call Makana. Around this time a second group departs from Hawaii and proceeds directly south, eventually landing on an island (Kiritimati), where they rest and gather supplies. As they explore the island they find some temporary shelters and ruins already on the island. They call the island Moena, and continue south. They eventually land on an island (Kiribati) populated by natives, and the group successfully conducts some trade before returning north, taking with them a few of the natives as emissaries. In the Hawaiian Islands the army from O'ahu lands on Maui, initially beating back the Hawaiian army under Kamehameha. Kamehameha feigns retreat toward the south of the island, drawing out the enemy army. En route to O'ahu, Keeaumoku Nui lands near the site of this battle and marches with 10,000 reinforcements to Kamehameha's aid, successfully defeating the enemy forces in a decisive battle. Kekaulike is killed and sacrificed, and Keeaumoku Nui declares himself Aliʻi nui of Maui.

Gunther Grevryan, an inventor and product of the new university programs, sets to work on building a more effective plow than the current ones. He uses gunpowder and other things to try to find a source of power for a possibly automated plow. He also explores sources of so-called "self propulsion", which he could use to make an automated plow and possibly other things.

1708

A work of Baroque music is composed in Cheshire, titled So there is now the United Kingdom of Great Britain.

The "Great Russian Famine" attributed to the ongoing Russian Civil war claims almost 1.5 million in its first years from the civilian populace as the massive decrease in food production from Russias most productive areas as well as the huge amounts of destruction, keeping the production at all time lows

With the Republic collapsed and the Battle of Kursk ended in a Decisive Loyalist-Belkan victory, the Traditionalist fall back to their final strongholds before Moscow. From Kaluga to Novomoskovsk the Traditionalists have set up a defensive lines to meet the onslaught from the south while simultaneously holding the north in Check.

The Russian Alaskan colony loses connection with the homeland due to the war and dwindling resources mean many of the colonists die of starvation. Those who remain attempt to flee to nearby Spanish settled territory for safety but disappear on the way and are never heard from again.

The Onslaught of the Ethiopians leads to a disturbing trend in occupied territories, with mass conversions and also mass slaughter being made apparent to the muslims there, being highly reminiscent of the thousands that were killed or forcibly converted in the Reconquista in Spain.

  • Angu-Zia union: Trade continues with the Bilibil, and Namton A'fao Koito is now declared Tingu A'fao by the Angan allies, the Sambia. His ability to prevent the Sambian women's tingu take control over the men's bodies is renown throughout all Sambia tribes. This, alongside showing the Sambia the southern Angan rites of passage, is good enough to make the Sambia stop with Maku and Taiketny. The Zia get their own representatives on the council, ensuring the union of the two tribes goes well. The councillors of the Zia are brothers of the Angu councillmen's wives, and are acting pro tempore in the name of their future nephews. The next generation of the council is expected to be both Angu and Zia.
The Red Sea continues to be blockaded with the Omani navy, but invasion is held off for now so the Jaffarids can attempt to re-subjugate Iran. The Sultanate of Cyprus iterates to the Sultan of Africa that they mean no quarrel, as they too are seeking independence, but are deploying their troops in Libya for the inevitable defense of Msr from the Coptic invasion. In Iran, the forces crossing over the Zaragos Mountains are initially successful, but then are suddenly routed by the Persian forces outside of Tehran. They are pushed back for a second battle at Tabriz, which is successfully defended until the Persians are forced back.
    • Ethiopian Empire: With the court fully integrated at Medinah Jamil, the Emperor Iyasu works to develop the new nation internally. New irrigation policies are used to combat future problems of famine and drought, redirecting the Blue Nile over the more arid regions in the north. The Coptic Church is organized in the nation with the same hierarchy as it had before the war, administrated by Pope John XV. The Monks of the Ark of the Covenant are given particularly generous donations from the government, in the hopes of attracting divine aid for their war. Learning of the Jaffarid plan to invade by sea, the Ethiopians plan out their coastal defenses along Eritrea. Prince Theodore continues his campaign against Fayyum.
  • China: The Guizhou Rebolt begins to rampage through the inland provinces, while the Korean separatists take control of the province of Hamgyeong. In response, the state-council musters an army of a hundred thousand levies to suppress each revolt, as it struggles with financial difficulties after a systematic raid of gold mines by several peasant mobs.
  • Swiss Confederacy: Swiss engineers continue to work on the automated plow, while some have begun developing a hollow cannonball that will explode into shrapnel when it hits something and contains smaller bombs that will scatter in the immediate vicinity to cause more damage to infantry and scare away horses. Hans Zurenberg is close to finishing the Unified Swiss, and has begun to teach it at other schools. Many more intellectuals have begun learning Arabic from the Academy of Islamic Mathematics and Art. Although most people are still Christian, said intellectuals have begun to meld Islamic traditions with their Christian beliefs, while very few have actually converted to Islam. These intellectuals start a new settlement near the commune of Unterwalden. They have called it Shveis Mekka (Swiss Mecca) and have been building Islamic and moorish style architecture there.
  • Dai Viet: Following the defeat of Dai Viet by the Kingdom of Tondo, the country has been in turmoil struggling to handle its newly conquered provinces in Champa. The emperor in this time of need issues a summon to the scholars, monks, and government officials to convene in the capital. The convention called The Golden Hall is to work out matters of governance, economy, and other important things to help the prosperity of Dai Viet. Some important reforms includes introducing official print offices for paper money and nationalizing it.
  • Hawaii: Following the death of Kekaulike in battle the previous year, Keeaumoku Nui establishes a tentative rule over the island of Maui. This claim is contested, however, by the late king's uncle, Kaeokulani, King of O'ahu, who launches a naval invasion of Maui early in the year. Word reaches Maui that the king's brother, Kalaninuiamamao has raised his forces in rebellion, allying with the King of O'ahu, with support from the District of Puna and some supporters in Hilo. With the Hawaiian army split, Keeaumoku Nui suffers a minor defeat at the hands of Kaeokulani, and ultimately chooses to withdraw and regroup on Hawaii. Kamehameha, likewise withdraws to the settlement of Kawaihae in Kona, where he begins recruiting more warriors and training them for a second invasion. A respected kahuna named Kapoukahi approaches the chief and suggests he build a luakini heiau (sacrificial temple) to gain the favor of the war god Kūkaʻilimoku. Kamehameha agrees, and has his men work to create the Puʻukoholā Heiau, meaning "Temple on the Hill of the Whale". The temple is built with no mortar and relatively quickly, with the red stones transported by a human chain about fourteen miles long, from Pololū Valley to the east. In the meantime Kalaninuiamamao fights several skirmishes with his brother the king. By remaining out of the fighting, preoccupied with building the temple and also guarding the north of the island from attack, Kamehameha manages to appear neutral in the conflict. Kalaninuiamamao travels to Kawaihae toward the end of the year to secretly negotiate an alliance with his brother against the king. However, when the chief arrives, Kamehameha has his brother and his main supporters sacrificed. A battle breaks out, however, it is almost completely one sided, with the majority of Kalaninuiamamao's men coming to Kamehameha's support in the end. A fleet from O'ahu finally arrives as the year is ending, by is intercepted by the king off the coast of Kahaluu. In the ensuing Battle of Kahaluu, primarily a naval engagement between two of Hawaii's largest fleets, the technologically and numerically superior fleet of Keeaumoku Nui manages to secure victory. However, the king is wounded in the battle and orders his men back to shore, allowing Kaeokulani to flee to Maui. Haae-a-Mahi, brother of the late Alapaʻinuiakauaua of Kohala fights for Kaeokulani in the battle and is discovered to have been killed. The king rewards his cousin Kameʻeiamoku with the District of Puna, for his bravery shown during the naval battle.

  • Mapuche: We continue to expand down the OTL Sadalo River, hoping to secure a border along that area. The fort that was started to be constructed in our capital is almost complete, because of a building error that was in the foundation. The king has a son, whom's name is Mayuckiakapi, that he hopes to be his future succesor to the nation of Mapuche.
  • Russia: With the war dragging on into its 6th year the number of dead continues its steep rise. In response to the mass assaults launched by both sides. Vladimir Markov, the gunsmith out of Feodorgrad who designed cheap mass produced guns for the army, works on a type of artillery shell, that could burst apart to cut down hordes of men. Production of grenades has also begun. The Belkan army of 45,000 professional soldiers is joined by a group of 400,000 men, mainly ex-republicans who could still fight, Cossacks, Ukrainians, and penal battalions. General Anton Stressli, however, makes a bold move with his Cossacks and attacks the Traditionalist troops at Uralsk with lighting speed. With cover from artillery Stressli's Cossacks wipe out traditionalist troops fighting in the city. Going to the Southern High Command in Rostov, Stressli proposes his tactic of what he calls "Bystraya voyna", or Fast War, the usage of artillery followed by quick moving cavalry units to disperse and destroy the enemy. Northeast of Uralsk, the Ural Campaign, a fairly ignored theater picks up as Traditionalist forces are buffed up as the "Siberian Tigers" pick away in guerrilla warfare at their morale. The Traditionalists, are beginning to scrape the bottom of the barrel, fielding a ridiculous army of 500,000 men, desise and the every worsening famine quickly takes its toll.

  • Rashidun Caliphate: The Caliphate fully develops Cairo as its proper city-state. The cities of the Nile Delta, all just north of Fayyum, manage to establish a colllecitve defense in a league of city-states under the Ulema. Some ships are loaned from the Sultanate of Cyprus in order to re-open their trade with China through Gulangyu. The troops on loaned from Morocco are helpful in keeping these defenses north of Fayyum intact. However, the Caliph iterates to Morocco that he should continue to recognize the authority and rule of the Caliph, and as much of Libya as agreed will be ceded to them. The Ulema official cedes all of Libyan land from Tripoli to Sire to the Sultan of Maghreb.
The Sultanate of Cyprus iterates to the Sultan of Africa that they mean no quarrel, as they too are seeking independence, but are deploying their troops in Libya for the inevitable defense of Msr from the Coptic invasion. A full-sclae invasion of Eritrea is undertaken using the Omani navy up through the Red Sea. They land in Asmara, and begin attempting to occupy the city.
The Emperor welcomes any voluntary conversion from Islam. However, the Empire does not condone the murder of innocent Muslims native to the conquered regions. Prince Theodore attacks Fayyum again, however, some troops are pulled back to crush the new attack by the Jaffarids to the east.
      • Stop sending troops to Fayyum I beat them in the algo twice. -Sultan
      • No you didnt. I told you to act in accordance with Nate and his wishes as this is his internal war, invade the caliphate on your own from a plausible location, or get the hell out -Feud.
  • Swiss Confederacy: Infrastructure and universities are built in the new Canton of Three Leagues. The swiss send diplomats to Wallis and Freiburg to convince them to join the confederacy. Envoys from Swiss Mecca prepare to go to Cairo to meet with various religious leaders of the Caliphate(Rashidun Response). The Swiss hollow cluster cannon ball(hollow cannon ball with bombs in it that fly everywhere when it hits something) design is finished and Swiss craftsmen beginning setting to work making them. A prototype of the automated plow machine was made, but it did not work. Several former soldiers create their own mercenary corps armed with Belkan guns gained from an expedition there. The corps is initially 150 men, but is growing. They have introduced the hollow cannon ball into use and have been testing it out. A swiss scientist figures out a way store energy gained from steam. He teams up with the scientist trying to design the automated plow and they expect to finish it by 1711. MOD RESPONSE FOR WALLIS AND FREIBURG. RASHIDUN DIPLOMACY RESPONSE FOR ENVOY.
  • Hawaii: The Hawaiian army recovers from the Battle of Kahaluu, and consolidates its forces for an invasion of Maui. As the army is preparing, Keeaumoku Nui falls ill from an infection of his wounds and dies. As a result Kamehameha is declared the Aliʻi nui of Hawaii, and takes over sole command of the invasion. Kamehameha's war fleet lands in Kahului a few kilometers from the base of ʻĪao Valley. Kaeokulani army, largely consisting of loyal chiefs from Maui, block entrance into the ʻĪao valley, beginning the battle. In the ensuing battle so many men are killed in rapid succession that the "damming of the waters" is caused by the corpses floating in the river. Kaeokulani is ultimately killed in battle by Kamehameha, causing his army to retreat. Those still loyal to the late Kaeokulani flee to O'ahu, where his son, Kahekili II, ascends to the throne. Kamehameha becomes Aliʻi nui of Maui, and begins consolidating his rule over the island, beginning by calling the chiefs of the various districts of Maui to swear their loyalty to him. A series of skirmishes, mostly on sea, continue throughout the later half of the year, in an effort to secure control over Kahoolawe, Lānaʻi, and Molokaʻi. Traders arrive back on the island of Hawaii, with information on a series of islands (Line Islands) which they used en route further south. Before stopping on Moena, where they built a temporary camp among the other ruins and shelters, they explored an atoll, which they called Palama Atoll (Palmyra Atoll), followed by two islands; Nawaomoku (Tabuaeran) and Hokulea (Teraina). The group then continued south, arriving at a cluster of islands. On the first (Tūpai), they did not find signs of a settlement, so they continued south landing an island the locals called Pora pora mai te pora (Bora Bora). After staying among the locals as guests for several months, the traders manage to learn a great deal about the politics of the island and those surrounding it. At the time of their arrival in Bora Bora the island is split between two rival chiefdoms. The northernmost chiefdom, in which they stay, is based around a settlement known as Faanui, consisting of families attached to the marae Farerua, while the southern chiefdom consists of the families of Nunue and Anau around the marae Vaiotaha, who is known as one of the most powerful in the region. The locals claim that further to the south there is an island known as Havai'i/Ra'iātea (Raiatea), which is often at odds with one or more of the Bora Bora Chiefdoms. In particular the natives on Bora Bora claim to have one of the largest armies, while Raiatea supposedly dominates in religion. The traders explore or receive information on several other islands (the rest of the Leeward Islands) before returning home.
  • Malaya: After several years of expeditions through thick Bornean rainforest, a map has been created detailing the layout of the proposed expansion project, which will take place in the coming years. A large area will be deforested and developed to help Malaya grow into a more prosperous nation. An observatory is constructed in Sabah to record the differences between the night sky in different locations. The twin princes have developed an interest in shadow theater and Malay orchestra respectively, pursuing the same interests as their parents. This increases the demand for quality performances, especially for those of the theater the King himself was an apprentice in. The violin is refined into a classic instrument, with variants of different sizes under experimentation. The study of "possession" becomes a field of interest in the universities, and a team goes around the nation finding and studying the behaviours of those deemed "possessed" via a set of characteristics including but not limited to: dramatic changes in habits, extreme mood swings, aggression towards neutral parties and seeing invisible things.

Cavalry is also improved on as the test of Cavalry with guns are expanded on. Government: Merc (15,000) mostly from Mali and other parts of Africa are sent to be based in Tripoli where a long lasting feel of tension happens with Caliphate troops. A envoy is sent to Cyprus telling them A. Living structures are improved so more jobs can happen across the state. Event: Al Aqqas takes over Fayyum after routing out the Ethiopian troops. Al Aqqas then marched on Wadi Haifa. The General Calls for a Jihad with Ethiopia Muslims being killed. (MOD)
    • Tajammad: Forts are set up in the north region to help protect the Emirate. • Belkan Empire: The Belkan army is drawn back to play a more supportive role for the end of the Great Russian Civil war, intending with all purposes to allow the Russian Tsar to strike the final blows against the Traditionalists. With 40,000 troops left in Russia and 40,000 troops left at home, the Czar makes a concentrated attempt to take a look at the ever worsening situation in Belkas largest and most profitable trading partner. With the Caliphate beleagured and under such a dire situation, even if it is against the copts in Ethiopia technically religious brethren the Belkan merchant companies and families plead the Czars intervention. While this is the case, Czar Petar takes a more defensive stance, escorting pertinent trade ships and preventing their problems of interdiction or interception as well as other problems coming from the current internal Caliphate issue. Czar Petar proclaims an independence guarentee for both Krete and Cyprus. Krete is protected by a screen of ships and a 10,000 man expedition is prepared to support Krete at a moments notice should the Maghrebi sultanate take actions against them. This does, however, give off a large impression that Krete cannot defend itself properly or act independently due to the new influences imparted over Krete. Cyprus is given a different deal and if offered full support of independence and interference from the Maghrebi sultanate if they allow Belkan forces to help in the event of a Maghrebi incursion hoping to fill in the gap the Caliphate once filled with this role (nate plz). While all this is going on the home front remains noticeably prosperous and its economy advancing. Belgrad continues to expand economically and residentially as it continues to fill the role as Belkas new central capital. With a population of almost 500,000 many of the populace willing, some not as willing, the City has arisen to become a pinnacle of Belkan culture along side Vasiligrad, Tarnovo, and Sofiya as well as the third most populous city in the empire. Interestingly enough while Zagreb remains the current provincial capital of Croatia, Sibenik starts to become the more popular destination for Belko-Croatians, and proper Belkan citizens and the city also begins to see some modest but important growth with some very important government apparati for the province starting to be set up there specifically the largest branch of the Belkan bank in all of Croatia.

A road connecting Dundee to Aberdeen is finished and in addition the English Midlands continue to have more canals built. There is an expansion of libraries at the universities in a move to push forwards science. England's non- Arcadian colonies continue to receive a steady settlement. • Cologne: Archbishop Wulfrich is dismayed by the stalemate in the battle, and absolutely confronted by the fact that the German people appear to have been unprepared. Given that most Holy Roman Empire states are simply inactive and do not respond, Wulfrich is incredibly frustrated to have achieved this stalemate from apparent unpreparedness. The Kolsch Militia, who are a small force but have been prepared to defend their own small state for years and years, are nothing like the rest of Germany – apparently the rest of Germany needs assistance in its military techniques. To finalise the end of the stalemated war, Archbishop Wulfrich sends an envoy to Scandinavia with an offer (which Cologne has always stood by) of peace. Further, Wulfrich decides that all German states need more assistance with the military and begins diverting small sections of Cologne’s funds into each and every small HRE state, on a Tied Military Grant – if they want to accept the money, they must put at least 75% of it into the defence of their country, particularly the training and preparedness of their soldiers. In particular, Archbishop Wulfrich sends slightly more money than the average HRE state to the ones on the outside border with Scandinavia. (Mod response for the HRE states please) (OOC: I’m sorry I was inactive (I had exams) but the vast majority of “Germany” are non-player states, so it was unclear who was in charge of the algo other than Scandinavia. Please consider lifting some of that 15 point defence penalty from 1704?)
    • Essen: Abbess Anniken’s Papers have been thoroughly studied and learnt in the last decade, and canonesses worldwide have shared this liberating knowledge with other women, to a general boom in canoness numbers in the New World, Tondo, Brazil and Essen. In Tondo, the fully Tondoese canonesses continue to follow the Tondoese government into new areas, properly making connections within that government and securing alliances previously somewhat gained. In Hospitaller Arcadia and New Essen, more Seminole canonesses are recruited with the help of the original education system in Hospitaller Arcadia and Abbess Anniken’s Papers on Women. As a result, the Adelphinian Order becomes better equipped to handle the set up of an education system in Burgundian Arcadia, and start working with the Burgundian Arcadia government to reinforce these inclusive values before any educational system may be built in.
  • Mapuche: We continue to expand down the OTL Saldalo River, with the more recently expanded areas to receive Mapuches looking for new resources. The fort in our capital has now been completed, and the construction problem that was originally there is now is resolved. The king's new son is thrown a large banquet, which brings the many people throughout the kingdom to the capital to celebrate his birthday. A few in the nobility hope that he will grow up to be godlike, but are mostly laughed off as illegimate fools.
  • Russia: The Great Southern Offensive kicks off, using Fast War tactics devised by general Stressli, the artillery bombardments and fast Cossack attack break the Traditionalists lines, elsewhere across the front 100,000 men go over the top and charge at the enemy trenches, grenades are used to blow holes in tuff pockets of resistance. Detachments of the Far West forces take White Ruthenia, opening up a small land connection to Pyotr's forces. Pyotr's offensive is launched with the shrapnel shells devised by Markov used to extreme effectiveness in wiping out traditionalist counter attacks. The advance on both sides is slow, but there is a sight for a possible end to the war by 1711.
Several libraries are built in Swahili. Colonisation continues its rate of increase. We now have around 6000 soldiers in Ethiopia fighting Ethiopian rebels and learning Caliphate tactics. We establish an embassy in Paris, Belgrad and Dijon. Each embassy is constructed with a library with means to improve cultural and technological exchange. A grand overhaul of the military system begins.
