1690[]

Radical Buddhists in Siam begin taking up the practice of Self-Immolation.

A massive crop failure in Irish wheat.

Djalu the Great returns from exile with a massive army of irregular soldiers, and besieges the city of Njarrindjeri. He compels the city to regain his place as Bakan, and then begins training a larger force in an attempt to reunite the Anangu Kingdom.

Certain Korean nobles begin plotting revolt of the peninsula, feeling the Emperor's move to Beijing for generations has distanced him from the court.

The term "Lesbian" is coined for the first time by feminists in France who claim that Sappho of Lesbos wrote poetry for other women.

Franz Straube travels to Novgorod for the better pay.

  • Rashidun Caliphate: Military and economy is modernized, mostly in Syria and Mesopotamia. Abdullah Jaffar holds power over the military. Trade is kept westward from Morocco and Cyprus to the nations of Europe, and a massive push to modernize the tactics and training of Morocco's military is undertaken as well as exchange of technology. The Ulema asks Malaya if they would be interested to build a Mosque in Sabah, for keeping the Muslim population there culturally included. Trade eastward imports from China through Gulangyu. Sunaib is welcomed in the Caliphate, and is given an especially comfortable pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina to aid in his spiritual journey, as well as offering him to tour the Library of Alexandria. This year, the Caliph elected, Malik Al-Baraq, attempts to rally support from among the Ulema and other offices, in an attempt to throw off the domination of the Jaffarids that have slowly dominated over the last 20 years. The Jaffarids, especially the Sultan Abd Al-Rahman, is somewhat concerned of this action, but is also confident how the Caliph is very old and often sickly.
    • Malaya: We gladly allow the construction of a mosque in Sabah, in addition to the minor mosques used by the local Muslims.
  • Great Iberia: The Califórnias and Méxica continue expansion. Mêcicipi expands upriver. The major settlement in Trinidad grows to become a small city. Military campaigns against Maiam continue.
    • Monterrey: The elected governor is killed in battle against the tribes of the north. The militia returns to Monterrey, struggling to fend off native raiders from plundering the colony. Iberian reinforcements (two regiments) finally arrive in time to repel the attackers and drive them back to Indian Bay, where they are defeated in a decisive battle. The south side of Indian Bay is claimed for Monterrey. A new governor, Damian Garnica, commonly known as "Damian of Monterrey", is appointed by the King himself. The colonists rebuild, supported by the Iberian government.
  • Karnad: The popularity of the Dakshini language and script keeps increasing due to its simplicity. A large number of printing presses are established across the nation. Collections of old folk tales and epics in Dakshini are sold widely as writers come up with novels. Land clearance continues especially in Kerala to make way for plantations. Many landless farmers are employed in the plantation or are given land in the newly cleared areas. Cultivators of spices are aided by the government and the spice market starts to recover slowly. Greater trade between Swahili and Karnad benefits the nation.
    • Meluakam|Balochistan: Irrigation projects are fruitful and help in the establishment of farms. As most natives in Meluakam are tribal people and are thus disconnected, these farms are mainly operated by people from the mainland. Landless farmers from Karnad keep moving to Meluakam in large number because of the provision of free land, money and to escape the oppressive feudal system. The Dakshini language starts to spread. Coal and Copper mines open up in Meluakam. A large number of natives are employed in these mines. Roads are constructed. The natives begin to settle down. The Governor notes that the natives are great horsemen and refers them to the Army Chief of Karnad and its territories.
    • Maladweep|Maldives: Trade between the islands and Lakshadweep increases due to greater economic cooperation between Swahili and Karnad. The Coir rope industry expands and is exported to Meluakam. Dhivehi-Dakshini emerges as the common language however Dakshini is still used for all official purposes. The islands are used as a convenient area for the production and export of ambergris to the mainland as well as Melukama. Lodoicea is exported to the mainland for use in Ayurvedic medicine. A printing press is established in the capital. The capital is renamed to Southern Amravati. Farming includes the cultivation of coconut, banana, breadfruit, papayas, mangoes, taro, betel, chilies, sweet potatoes, and onions. Some of this produce is exported directly from the islands.
  • Great Union of Korea and China: The Emperor in response to criticism from Korean nobility, once again designates Hanseong as the primary capital, demoting Bukgyeong (Beijing) to a secondary capital. After a century, Busan once again is reopened to trade, with Japanese merchants once again being permitted to trade in all Korean ports (as previously they were restricted to Dokdo). However, Mokpo has emerged as the primary port and remains so. Korea–China continues to send military aid to Viet Nam in order to hasten the conquest of Champa. With the economic collapse of Karnad, the tea industry sees a sudden urge in demand. A series of standards are established to ensure the high quality of tea products. Meanwhile, economic ties with both Karnad and Bengal are somewhat restricted to avoid any contraction of financial contagion. In order to uphold his Christian heritage, a large oriental-style Church is erected in Tianjin. However, to cater to the Confucianist majority, he continues to patronize Confucianist studies and encourage reinterpretations of the Five Classics. Seeking to preserve the dwindling Korean tiger, an estate in Gangwon is built to rear and raise domesticated tigers. Reservations are established in the mountainous regions of the Haegi province. The government continues to construct industrial complexes aimed at augmenting the military-industrial sector, thereby consolidating state power. Internal commerce is promoted, with merchant guilds flourishing. Due to the rising demand in manufactures and luxury goods, and the rise in food supply (due to the implementation of modern agricultural techniques and usage of high-yield crops such as maize and potatoes), a division of labour is made. Many peasants and serfs shift from an agrarian lifestyle to work in the cultivation of cash crops (such as tea or cotton) and the the production of luxury goods (such as porcelain, silk, textiles).
  • Cambodia: King Bonaphum, being very sympathetic to his brethren in Lan Xang, decides on improving relations with Lan Xang. He also assures the Lan Xangi God King that we are willing to cooperate more than before, because "all Makans are brothers". Tensions increase between the radical Buddhists and the general populace, as they say "Alas, another fine Asian nation has succumbed to the scourge called Makanism. As if a tolerant king wasn't bad enough, now we have a Makanist king". They are becoming more openly hostile to the government, and are now a threat to the survival of the Cambodian nation as we know it. The projects carried out by the former King Chey Chetta III continue (namely the road-building and irrigation programs), and rebuilding earthquake-affected regions also continue. Burgundy, to compensate for the loss of Macau, are given the port of Kep, it being one of the biggest ports in Cambodia. We also ask for an alliance with Burgundy.
      • Burgundian EIC Dip: Cambodia is thanked for allowing the Company to use Kep, and accepts the alliance.
    • Lan Xang Dip The God King tells the Khmer Makani counterpart not to be harsh on any radical buddhists who commit crimes, stating, "makanism is a forgiving religion." He says instead of executing them, "reeducate them on Makan's glory."
  • Malaya: As requested by the Rashidun Caliphate, a mosque is constructed in Sabah with Persian-style architecture. We begin promoting religious harmony among Buddhists and Makanists, saying that both are religions of peace, and there is no reason for conflict. Some radical Buddhists speak out against this, accusing the Queen of being a "Makanist whore". This causes great outrage amongst the community, and all radicals involved are persecuted. They are pardoned by the Queen, who states, "I may be a Makanist whore, but I do not speak ill of my brothers and sisters". Her tolerance is acknowledged by many moderate Buddhists and Makanists. We send logistical and economic support to Cambodia to help rebuild their earthquake affected regions. We export bananas to Ireland at a lower price to help them get through their famine. A kopitiam in Malacca begins selling coffee milk tea, a fusion of the Korean milk tea and coffee. Rice wine becomes a popular alcoholic beverage in rural states.
  • Papal States: Cardinal Paulo's invasion of Montferrat continues. After the victory in the Battle of Montferrat in 1688, the main body of the March's military has been quashed, however small bands of patriots have continued to hold out, and the Cardinal's forces continue to encounter resistance, with a few of the more isolated towns still remaining loyal to the Marchese. Ever confident, Cardinal Paulo expects to have fully vanquished Montferrat within another year or so. Back in Rome, a French bishop on an ad limina visit to the Pope gives His Holiness a pamphlet issued by the so-called 'Feminists'. The Pope reads it, and hands it on to the Prefect of the Holy Inquisition. The Prefect creates a commission to look into its ideas, and they will present the Pope a report on it next year. Missions continue in the New World, Korea-China, Japan, and Lan Xang.
    • Bishopric of St Peter-in-Brazil: The new Bishop offers free land to settlors who want to move further inland.
  • Bengal Empire: With the beginning of trade with Swahilli we begin to benefit greatly as money begins to flow back in to our reserves and banks lowering our debt minimally but nonetheless it is progress. Tea products begin to have a resurgence in the nation as plantations begin to open up in Ahom and Norther Bengal to produce tea to meet Korea-China's demands in the product. Coffee continues to be very popular and cheap for the consumer that it is commonly purchased in markets across the nation. Nutmeg and Cinnamon are some of the first spices to recover from the spice market collapse while peppers such as black and white pepper are minimally effected due to them naturally growing in the wild and are common. Chilli and Vanilla start o become popular with the public as it is used in soups and sweets. We offer to trade with Malaya (Player Response). The poor population begins to dwindle slightly as the economy begins to recover but it will be several more years until it recovers. We continue to push on our influence in the rest of India by sending out missionaries and offering to trade with them. The current Cash Crops this year are Tea,Cotton,Rapeseed,Cinnamon,Wheat,Sesame Seed, and Vanilla plus Chocolate. Mangoes and other fruits start to be genetically modified to be larger in size and to be much sweeter and ripen faster but this will most likely take several years of research and testing with farmed mangoes before we have a finished product. Market Places across the nation grow larger as it is a cheaper way to sell products and not have to pay for a shop instead. The government start to help the poor by allowing them to stay in the homes that they own and not pay tax if you make less then 150 tahkas a week. shipyards across the nation start to produce much smaller vessels than the previous Megaships that we once made in a yearly basis. The only company that still makes those styles of ship is Tahva Co. which makes now only work on two a year and take another two year afterwards to complete. Our budget this year is cut by 27% now due to the economy recovering. Our main concentration is put on the royal army and the navy and the rest is put onto education and agricultural plus city + town development. Bhutan starts to not make as much money as it used to due to mine closures. Burma still benefits from coastal and inland development. Orissa develops along the coast while inland areas are used to produce wheat and other marketable goods. Burdagan is developed further and for the ost part catches up to the rest of the empire. Ahom continues to be a very fruitful area for farming and agriculture. New Sahammas, Mistri, and New Pandestria are used for producing crops and advance further in building up the education system. Rodawangaya Co. makes several mines around the river valleys of Burma. Many found it risky and most likely pointless but they were more farther way from the truth. In the first year since the company opening the mine, high levels of Imperial Jade and Rubys were found. The mining company after this success opened up four more mines around the area and discover small amounts of Sapphire and Gold. This place had been well known in history as a place used to find and produce these items since the first Burmese Empire but now it has been unlocked once again and now it has become an area of development. With this discovery steps are taken to limit production not just because of budget cuts but to also make sure the product does not lose value. We offer to trade the Imperial Jade and Rubies to our trade partners in exchange for silver and gold.
    • Banten: We continue to develop into a n area for trade and an area for producing Cash Crops. Roads and sewers are made and advances in the education system is worked upon. Vanilla, Chocolate, Coffee, and a variety of spices are exported in large amounts while the spices are exported in smaller amounts.
  • Lan Xang: Then nation itself seems to have stabilized. Meanwhile, in Siam, the missionaries give food to the poor and build housing. They even try and convert the nobility of Siamese society, to influence their King. Irrigation projects are going well, with yearly water being provided to everyone who is living in the cities. However, it will take a while before the Peasants will be able to get year lasting water. Also, Lan Xang tries to get rich with the God Kings "Make Lan Xang Great Again" program. Rice is sold en masse to neighing nations, gold is mined, so are gemstones, tin. Also, Korean tea is beginning to be very popular, and Lan Xang is making their own variant of the tea. Also, Korean-Chinese style brigandine armor is being issued to the army, while firearms, mortar, and cannon are mass produced. Also, more advanced craft is available thanks to the Korean blast furnaces. The nation seems happy, and peace is being promoted.
  • Al-Afriqia: We begin mass cultural influence in our newly acquired vassals of Kuba and Lunda. As most of our citizens have learned Arabic and can write and read it near-perfectly in Zayiyr, we begin the same process of teaching Arabic to the citizens of Kuba and Lunda. Our population reaches one million, with our military being restored to 12,000 through conscription.
  • Tsardom of Belka: The empire continues its recovery after the civil war seeing large population growth from the manpower which has returned home from war. With a population nearly breaching 14 million the Tsar is forced to undertake a census of the empire to figure out where many things stands such as provincial populations, ethnic divisions, as well as get a more effective idea of where the capabilities of each province stood in terms of production. Ironically for a former theocratic state, the Croatians have become a rival to the banking institutions of Sofiya, Tarnovo and Vasiligrad with their effective system bringing together dozens of banks across the country to the Tsars chambers forcing him to fully restructure the system to service the state in a much more powerful capacity rather than their current independent structure. With more and more restructuring under way the Tsar remains resolute in his military establishment keeping the Army at a full strength of 60,000 and awarding or commendating the hundreds if not thousands of officers which served during the civil war and subsequent polish invasion. General Kamarov is made into the Field Marshall of the whole army who with the advent of crude handheld explosives begins putting their strongest, largest, and most veteran troops into smaller more elite units.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot: We keep Mining gold Near Diltwa Wintuye so that we can pay of labourers to work on our churches and our first wall and Palaces. We Also ask if there are any Iberian Mussians willing to work us for money to create our first songs in a style that is typical Sinkyone and also to write down some European songs so that we can sing European anthems and royal songs(Iberia Response). We also Keep fighting the Okwanuchu, Atsugewi and Achumawi tribes and we ask them to unconditionally surrender or face total destruction(Mod response). We also Ask Iberia If we can Buy five Iberian boats and get sailors from Iberia Teach how my men can become Sailors so that we can explore the Coast in their name and give the information to them. We also Keep sending setlers to the "Colonies". We Also Make Mzer the Official Naval Capital of our country. While Diltwa Wintuye will become the Seat of Government.
  • Kingdom of Great Britain and Scotland: As crop failures hit Ireland significantly and a major famine is at risk both the English Parliament and Scottish Parliament vote against aiding the Irish in their famine but the King being Irish born proposes to the English Parliament a full union with the Kingdom of Ireland and for the new integrated realm to spend a large amount of money raised by taxes on the regulation to keep fair prices and prevent hoarding as well as to import grain into Ireland. The Irish nobles are reluctant but after peasants in County Galway attack grain merchants and the situation becomes precarious combined with a number of cash bribes being paid to the poorer Irish Parliament members leads to a general agreement of an English proposed Act of Union 1690 creating the Kingdom of Great Britain and it establishes a union of the Parliaments with the rest being worked out later and the new British Parliament with the full support of the Irish members votes for the Regional Grain Relief Act of 1690 which provides for strict rules on hoarding and over pricing supported by the English and Irish army in addition to at the expense of Great Britain for the subsidisation of grain merchants importing into Ireland from within England, Scotland and English Arcadia keeping prices low. This act serves to restore the market to normal and avoid a major famine this year even with crop failures. England has 6.2 million people, Wales has 0.6 million Ireland has 1.4 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people. Small amounts of migration to England from Scotland due to enclosures. The construction of roads and canals continues with continuing construction of the canals linking Glasgow to Lancaster and the whole of the English midlands with it expected to take a few more years to finish. The Army of Islamic India maintains itself while construction of defences at Guddu and Modasa is nearly completed while trade flourishes with states in India bringing in Asian wealth. Education in England is dominated by free grammar schools in towns and the universities of Oxford and Cambridge with both of the making a greater move to mathematics from previous subjects. The first sighting of Uranus is made by John Flamsteed although he mistakes it for a star. There is an expansion of libraries at the universities in a move to push forwards science. The army remains small with 3000 men in Ireland, 2000 men in Scotland and 1000 in Wales and England each although militia acts allow the mass raising of a new army reasonably quickly and an additional 9000 troops are overseas with 6000 in Arcadia, 1000 in Haiti as well as 500 in St George, St Helena, New Canterbury and Bay of Kost. The fleet is divided with 150 ships stationed in Portsmouth and 150 ships stationed in Bristol. Privateer continues and trade with colonies in a triangular trade going through Africa.
    • English Arcadia: We expand largely into OTL Georgia around 30 px pushing in establishing new plantations and clearing the region growing cash crops such as sugar, tobacco, cotton and fruit mainly and bringing in a variety of workers from India, Africa and Europe on contracts. The colony also takes advantages of Irish crop failures to increase its own wheat growth for export to Ireland. The colony has a population of 1.45 million.
  • Poland: We add 10,000 trained troops to our army, we ask our ally France to prepare for war if it begins. We are still extremely cautious about Russia and Burgundy, but we have not given up on diplomacy.
  • Maghreb Trade: We continue our trade with Europe and Africa as traders meet up in smaller city to help create more major cities. The Maghreb also begins to try its hand at the spice and salt trade via selling more salt and spices, gold is slow down to prevent inflation. Trade with the new world counties as new world food and items becoming the new fab to wear/use Government: Faruk works on improving the number of people (as the population stands at ten million), he works on moving more people to Urban cities and demanding more framers to plant more often). Badr is given Shura power and begins to set up schools, laws, and things of that level. Rasfan is given more of a poetry and Scientific Advancement. Imams are sent to the Caucasus and Ethiopia region to work on converting people to Islam. Event: The Sultan Faruk Son (Hassan) goes again to Mecca, Damascus, Cairo and Aleppo and Mednia to work on improving relationships with the Emirates and work on the Maghreb trade union, he is sent to starts talks in Mecca for better trade deals, military training among each other. A invite is sent to Kartum, Baghdad and Riyadh. An invite to join the trade union.
  • Bengal Dip: We offer to send you 700 3-ct rubies in good quality in exchange for 1550 pounds of gold.
  • We accept it -Maghreb dip
  • Tajammad Emirate: The Emirate works on preparing for the cold seasons by collecting firewood during the summer. Walls and Houses are reworked on to defend the "Ansari" from animals. Hunting parties are sent to hunt down animals and eat them, while some are killed for their winter fur. Haush land is given to Tajamidan people to rule, these areas are called "Forts". New World food is sent back home to be traded. Our ships begin to train on how to sail the rocky seas to reach the Pacific Ocean and study the ways to the Pacific Ocean. Due to the way of the New World women are given more physically as in helping create the wall or guarding areas. The port (not the best or biggest) of Tajammad is re-made along with ocean defense walls and gun ports made along with 50 cannons. The population stands at 30,720 people with a slow rise in pop. The Ona state is annexed into the Emirate and Ona majority areas are put under an Ona that accepted Islam named Hassan al Badr but some question his loyalty and if he converted just to gain power, Islam with the Ona people slowly rise as a 50% percent in the Ona Population become Muslim, as the Ona state is named the Ona Bukrain. Seeing the killing of Tajjamdians the State begins to hold up strong military view as the Emir begins to arm more colonist. An Ona army goes to war and the Tajammad is sent to help with the 14,000 troops. they march onto merchar state.
    • Emirate of Al Maqadas: The Emirate is set up in Port Alegre and walls and houses are placed up to bring cover to the population of 30,000 people. A port is worked on. The Emirate begins to expand across the coast by 7 px. More Arms and sent to Emirate to help arm the people of the Emirate.
    • Al Badr: A group of 18,000 men are sent to Lynn Haven with 2-gun boats, where they set up base (building walls, port) and trade with natives while expanding 7 px across the coastline (east way). Most of the men and women there are armed. The also work on a massive port. A fort is made in Dothan when 2000 men were sent there they set up a fortress named North.
  • Kingdoms of Burgundy and Prussia: New Germany expands 50 px east along the coast of OTL Florida. Maryland expands 50 px north along the east coast. Privateering against France continues. In the East Indies, the East India Company begins reforming the Colonial Guard of Aceh and Sumatra. It is decided, for the sake of simplicity, for a single army to be established, simply called the Sumatran Colonial Guard. The settlement of Sint Karel in the Fortuyn Eilands (OTL Falkland Islands) grows into a modest sized fishing town, and the settlers begin expanding out, looking to claim their own land on the previous uninhabited archipelago.
  • Russia: Construction of the Palace of St Rurik begins as "The Austrian" Franz Straube tests his skills out on the large structure. Many resources are poured into construction of the building and many peasants die in the building process. The Tsar hopes the completion of the building by 1700, as a way to open Russia to the 18th century. Pyotrs training of the professional peacetime army of 60,000 having been completed with modern military tactics. The Russian trading fleet begins to hunt down Aleutian and Novorossiyan Furs. The Tuvov colony is expanded 5 px in the Tuvov Peninsula. Fur hunting outposts are established and expanded across all the uninhabited Aleutian Islands. More trade ships are built. Russian trade fleet becomes a group of ten medium sized ships. The Provinces of Sakha, Vostok, and Kamchatka are added. The rest of the unoccupied Cheondoryeol islands is placed under the administration of the Kamchatka Province.

1691[]

Champa is conquered by Dai Viet, but its war with Tondo overseas is ongoing.

Carnivores like tigers prove extremely difficult to domesticate for an agricultural society such as Korea.

Chinese nobility complains why their city was demoted in favor of Hanseong, as if China is reduced to a vassal of the foreign Korea.

Feminists in France continue their philosophy. One published pamphlet supposes that original sin was entirely the fault of Adam, who was just quick enough to accuse Eve. In addition, the original apostle was Mary Magdalene, who then converted the Twelve after Jesus' ressurection.

A plague of rats in Hamlin, Prussia.

  • Rashidun Caliphate: Economy and military improve, as is our relations across the Muslim World. Trade expands with the Moroccan trade union across the Mediterranean to France and Belka. Trade eastward extends through China utilizing the rented island of Gulangyu. The vassals of Oman, Iran, and Caucasus are improved for military and economy, but they are not modernized. Modernization of military is sent to Morocco and Swahili, with more cultural trade sent to Benin and Zayiyr. Within the Caliphate government, however, there are considerable issues this year. Caliph Baraq dies, and the Jaffarids jump on the opportunity to crush the recent opposition to the Jaffarid rule. Manipulating the Maktab Al-Qudds considerably, the Jaffarids arranged a niece of theirs, Aresh Jaffar, to be elected Caliphah of the Caliphate. This is the first, and last, time that a woman was elected to the office of Caliph, and the incident was so scandalous that she is never counted in the canonical Caliph lists. One month after accepting the Seal of Muhammad, Caliph Aresh was found to be pregnant, and forcefully removed by a cabal in the Ulema. Three months later, after her son was born, Aresh was mysteriously found dead by various kinds of weapons. Following the disastrous scandal of a female Caliph, the office remained in interregnum for the remainder of the year, consisting of constant struggle between the Ulema and the pressure of the Jaffarid clan.
    • Karnad Diplomacy: We request a trading pact with the Caliphate.
  • Swahili: We continue our agriculture policies. The army begins convincing contracted servants. Areas interior to Mombasa and Malindi is colonized. We also send out conquistadors to expand northwards into more northern Somalia. We continue colonial expansion. We adapt more plants to the Swahili climate. Mineral processing is developed. Lesbian handai becomes popular and the genre is named to be Yuu-re, named after an artist. Swahili begins mass producing an iron-tipped, curved mouldboard, adjustable length plow (OTL Dutch Plow), which saved agriculture labour from six to eight oxen to one to two. This freed up farm labour and animal power. Many previous farmers starts moving to the cities and manufactories, or to the hinterlands and colonize inner Africa. They are still liable to receive a large plot of land (50 hectares) for five years of cultivation of the land. The sudden increase in unnecessary animal and increased food production led to larger commercial livestock operations. The change in demographics also begins an enclosure movement for larger and more organized farms, as some families move out of the farms, selling their plots to more successful farmers. The scholar Rab-Nints develops a way to solve differential equations and another scholar, Saqee, develops elimination theory, resultants and determinants. Another scholar, Lapet, develops a rule for solving limits using derivatives.
    • Sultanate of Qamar: Qamar continues development and some posts are taken by Swahili officials.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep is further developed.
    • Swahili Diplomacy: We wish for military coopeation with England and offer many of our ship plans.
  • Karnad: With the government in debt, the government takes over the diamond mining and gold mining operations at Kollur and Kolar respectively. Though the trade of spice formed a major part of our trade, it is now replaced by greater trade in Cotton textiles including muslin, calico and printed textiles. This helps in boosting the cultivation of Indigo and Shay crops. Trade in luxury goods also increases exponentially. This includes trade in jewels, precious and semi-precious stones, ivory, rhino horns, ebony, amber, coral, and aromatic products such as perfumes, musk and ambergris. Trade in Tea has not been affected and tea plantations continue to come up in Kerala. The OTL Baba Budan hills are named the Coffee hills. The Coffee hills produce large amounts of coffee which is exported through the ports of Calicut and Kollam. Calico textiles and other printed textiles are exported from Calicut. The diamonds and muslins are exported through the Masulipatnam port. Due to greater trade with Swahili the idea of the OTL Dutch plow is brought to India by a merchant to the Port of Mangalore. He implements it in his farms in Mangalore and sees it as a great way to save labour. However, the idea does not catch on and only gets implemented in a small area around Mangalore.
    • Meluakam|Balochistan: Irrigation projects are fruitful and help in the establishment of farms. As most natives in Meluakam are tribal people and are thus disconnected, these farms are mainly operated by people from the mainland. Landless farmers from Karnad keep moving to Meluakam in large number because of the provision of free land, money and so as to escape the oppressive feudal system. The Dakshini language starts to spread. Coal and Copper mines open up in Meluakam. A large number of natives are employed in these mines. Roads are constructed. The natives begin to settle down.
The islands are used as a convenient area for the production and export of ambergris. Lodoicea is exported to the mainland for use in Ayurvedic medicine. • Baloch is not merely your colony, inhabited by "natives" and ruled by an "appointed governor from the court of Karnad". It is in fact an autonomous kingdom under your protection. -General
  • Cambodia: The Radical Buddhists continue to be a nuisance in the country, as they begin damaging property of Makanists. The entire city of Stung Treng in Northern Cambodia has been burnt down, with the Radical Buddhists blaming the Makanists, and vice versa. The situation escalated very quickly, and it took the authority of King Bonaphum proclaiming "As said before, Makanists do not punish by fire. As far as the country knows, it was an accident. There is no need for hate," to return the people to normalcy. On the other hand, the Burgundian concessionn of Kep has made Western technology flood into the nation, as China is now not our only supplier of advanced technology. This has allowed us to build infrastructure more efficiently and made many jobs more productive.
  • Great Iberia: King Pedro continues centralizing the realm under the House of Braganza, consolidating the core territory of Portugal and promoting the Portuguese language and culture throughout the mainland and Mediterranean holdings. These policies are especially effective in Granada, which, after a century of Portuguese influence, is now solidly "Portuguese" in all aspects. The process of fully integrating Granada begins, and is expected to be completed by next year. The Iberian holdings in Morocco are also majority Portuguese, with a minority Moroccan (Maghrebi) and Castilian. Nominally subordinate to Aragon, Catalonia has gained increasing autonomy in recent years, first managing Mediterranean affairs alongside Aragon, now acting as the de facto hegemon of eastern Iberia. Despite Aragon's best efforts, Catalan surpasses Aragonese as the dominant language of Catalonia, Valencia, the Balearic Isles, and even parts of Sardinia and Aragon proper, while Catalonia's influence extends as far as Malta. The curious philosophy of "Feminism" sees small pockets of support within Iberia. It would have gained no traction at all were it not for Queen Maria, who has taken a liking to the concept. Feminism is already subject to plenty of religious debates, and the general consensus condemns the more radical variants as heresy. In the words of one critic on the Eve and Mary Magdalene theory: "It would imply the Holy Scriptures ... are falsehoods." Still, moderate Feminist thought is appreciated by many great thinkers. In recognizing some superior feminine traits and masculine shortcomings, they conclude that marriage between man and woman is the most pure and perfect union that exists, as it combines the best of feminine and masculine qualities. The Pope's official verdict is eagerly anticipated. On the colonial side, Iberia continues to assert its dominion over São Atto, building new settlements in the area. The existing fort at Macáçar (Makassar) is improved and expanded upon, and a chapel is built in the vicinity. Méxica greatly expands up the Rio Grande into OTL Texas and New Mexico, founding a major settlement at Passagem do Norte (OTL Ciudad Juárez/El Paso). Settlers, missionaries, and soldiers begin moving into the colony, which is being referred to as Nova Asturias. Relations with the Pueblo natives are poor, however, and conflict often arises between settlers and natives. The Califórnias continue expansion down the coast. New settlements are built around Indian Bay. Baixa Califórnia expands up the peninsula. Mêcicipi expands upriver. Castilian and Aragonese settlers move to Montserrat, and the island falls under Iberian rule. A Portuguese settlement is also established on Santo Jacó (OTL St Kitts), and the remainder of the Lesser Antilles are claimed as the sole dominion of Iberia. High taxes continue to be levied on Belkan traffic in the Strait of Gibraltar.
  • Malaya: We begin farming cotton in an attempt to gain more ground in the textile industry. The feminist movement is more prominent in the nation, while inudstries become more lenient in terms of hiring females where feasible. Ports along the west coast undergo upgrades. Radical buddhist movements have appeared in northern Malaya, concentrated at the Malayan-Siamese border. Intentional self-immolation is deemed illegal. In the light of several self-immolations, an Anti-Immolation League is formed, and they will be in charge of putting out the fire on self-immolators. At the request of several moderate Buddhist groups, it is reasserted that radical Makanists will be persecuted, even though there has been almost no incidents involving radical Makanists in Malaya. We increase trade with Tondo.
  • Bengal Empire: We continue to spread our influence across India increasing the Muslim population through missionaries and also by supporting econmic and political development with the NW states of India and spreading propaganda across the border states to join the empire. Our economy continue s to recover quicker than before due to mines opening up across Burma's precious mineral belts. With trade with Swahilli we start to use the plow that they had invented and begin to use it on our wheat and tea plantations. The spice market continues to become much more stable than the last few years and several spices are highly concentrated on to be produced. These are cinnamon, peppers, cumin, nutmeg, cardamom, and sesame seed. Wheat is harvested this year in high amounts. With the success of ruby and jade mining in Burma, coal mines open up across the coal belts. Chocolate, Vanilla and Coffee are still under high demand as well. Rubies and Imperial Jade become highly prized and is usually purchased by the rich and middle class population but is quite pricey nonetheless due to it being one of the only places in the world where rubies could be found naturally and are not very deep below the surface. With Maghreb purchasing rubies from us, it shows signs of something that we could use to make a profit off of so we start offering up more deals with anyone in the Indian Ocean, South China Sea or in the Mediterranean Imperial Jade and Rubies. Saphires receive a lot of craze in Mas Ubai with jewelry shops opening up across the city selling 1-6 ct. specimens but yet are still not mined significantly in order to preserve value so the price of the jewelry tend to run high. With our debt continuing to lower faster than before we lower our budget cuts to 23%. We continue to concentrate on developing Ahom and Burdagan into regions of wealth and farmland. Homes continue to be built and we continue to help bring up the worst off of citizens. Fresh drinking water is given out to everyone especially single mothers or poor families in general. We continue to produce large amounts of gunpowder and flintlock guns while also modernizing our ships further. Tahva Co. Builds two megaships this year that are about the size of the Starbucks. Sewer systems are also upgraded and more roads are built in towns and rural areas. Vanilla and cotton are exported in moderation. Orissa continues to be developed into a port and trade district. Mosques are built across burdagan and private schools in Burdagan are rising only slightly. The Art Museum in Mas Ubai receives a lot of popularity for preserving the empires diverse cultures. Orissa is developed along the coast with ports used to export and import goods specifically.
  • Banten: We continue to work on developing our education system and set up a federal administration on the island to monitor and regulate educational whereabouts and planned teaching. Towns and roads are developed further and remodeling homes and businesses to make them more modern and well equipped with roads and sewer systems being more common. Valleys are used for farmland and plows are adopted into the agricultural society of Banten.
  • Papal States: The Prefect of the Holy Inquisition hands Pope Cornelius the Inquisition's report on so-called 'Feminism'. Pope Cornelius, upon reading it, incorporates much of it into an encyclical, which he entitles Mulieres honore (the honour of women). His Holiness addresses several parts of the 'Feminist' philosophy. Regarding the idea that Original Sin was entirely the fault of Adam, the Pope states that such a notion is heresy, as it is contrary not only to the plain words of Scripture, but to the Church's constant interpretation thereof. By the same token, however, Cornelius writes that it is also heretical to say that Original Sin is entirely the fault of Eve, since that would give lie to the words of Scripture: "By one man sin entered the world, and by sin death..." (Rom. 5:12). Moving to the 'Feminist' notion that St Mary Magdalen was the 'first apostle', the Pope takes a nuanced approach. To say that Mary Magdalene was an apostle in the same sense as the Twelve is incorrect. However the Feminists are correct insofar as Mary Magdalene was indeed the first to preach the Resurrection to the Twelve, and thus many theologians (including the great St Thomas Aquinas) have rightly given her the highly-honoured title of "Apostle to the Apostles". To emphasise the importance of Saint Mary Magdalene, Pope Cornelius raises her feast day to a 'Double First Class', the highest level of feast day, usually reserved only to feasts of Jesus' life, and the 12 Apostles. Moving on, Cornelius talks of the great female heroines of the Old Testament: Ruth, Esther, Judith, and Deborah, and how they remain ideals of women of Faith willing to sacrifice much for God. The Pope then spends a solid chapter on the Blessed Virgin Mary, and how a woman was chosen to carry the Son of God in her womb, how it was a woman who was preserved from Original Sin, and a woman who is the great interceder for humanity to her Son. Indeed, it was the intercession of Mary which led to Christ's first public miracle at Cana. Finally, the Pope writes about how the Church supports education for women through the great women religious orders, such as the Order of St Adelphina, the Poor Clares, and the many other women's religious orders (monastic and non-monastic), which provide education to their members and also to other women. The encyclical is published and circulated generally, but with extra copies sent to France. Cardinal Paul's subjugation of Montferrat is nearing completion. Missions continue in the New World, Korea-China, Giapan, Southern Africa, and Lan Xang.
  • Lan Xang: More missions occur in Siam, Cambodia, and Malaya. The Make Lan Xang Great Again reforms are going well, with the irrigation system being improved, military being reeqiuped, innovation being encouraged, and other things. In response to Malaya's persecution of radical Makanist, the God King reminds the Queen of Malaya that he can ex communicate and shun violent Makanists. Meanwhile, with the fall of Champa, there are many Hindus and some Muslims living in the south right now. Meanwhile, a Khmer animist living in the South, "Pol Pot" believes that the Makanist government has not done enough with abolishing slavery and serfdom. He believes in violence overthrow of the Makanist theocracy and a replacement with an agrarian society. He also believes cities are exploiting the peasants. He begins his revolt by rallying a few hundred tribals, fully intent on depopulating every city in Lan Xang and forcing everyone to live as a peasant. Some radical Buddhists endorse Pol Pot.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot: We keep Mining gold and Iron Near Diltwa Wintuye so that we can pay of labourers to Build Palaces and to work in the Gold Mines and Iron mines. We Also ask if there are anny Iberian Mussians willing to work us for money to create our first songs in a style that is typical Sinkyone and also to write down some European songs so that we can sing European anthems and royal songs and we Also ask Iberian Clothing makers to make a Suit for King Amadeus Diltwa and for his son.(Iberia Response). We also Ask Iberia If we can Buy five Iberian boats and get sailors from Iberia Teach how my men can become Sailors so that we can explore the Coast in their name and give the information to them. We also Keep sending settlers to the "Colonies". We Also Make Mzer the Official Naval Capital of our country. While Diltwa Wintuye will become the Seat of Government.
  • Tsardom of Belka: Under the auspisces of creating a stable state in the face of the ever increasing power of the Sultanate of Rum, Tsar Petar personally leaves from the Palace of the Tsars in Belgrad and travels with 30,000 troops to Smyrna. The Smyrna Greeks scared of such a show of force array their own army in parade fashion but also at the ready in case this intends to be a hostile takeover of Smyrna however this doesnt end up the case with Tsar Petar meeting with Michael Tzapos the prince of Smyrna and he offers him the title of Grand Prince of Ionia, bringing all the currently protected Greek principalities of Western Anatolia under his rule as the Grand Principality of Ionia. With 30,000 troops and now the 15,000 troops from Ionia Karasi and Saruhan are given the opportunity to join Ionia as orthodox Brothers and avoid their conquest and oppression by the Sultanate of Rum referencing their quick expansion and the sack of Aydin as the perfect reason for their integration (mod). With nearly half the army in Anatolia the Tsar levies garrisons for many of the cities and the Aegean shield in order to prevent undue issues regarding a naval invasion or attack on any of our strategic forts at Gallipoli, the Vlach-Carpathia fortress, and the Grand Fortress of Trieste with all three maintaining 20,000 strong levied garrisons. The remaining 30,000 troops are left as a mobile force in the case of an invasion. The nation still continues its recovery from the rough civil conflict this time turning its attention to the battered lands of the Vlach provinces beginning to rebuild and reassemble the regions shattered infrastructure and quickly reconnecting the capitals of both provinces with both Belgrad and Vasiligrad. The Economy has also begun to recover on an extremely positive note with trade from the caliphate and the Italian league turning into a massive net positive for the empire.
  • Kingdom of Great Britain and Scotland: The grain relief schemes of last year have helped avoid a major famine but with harvest returning to normal this year the relief is ended although it can be restarted. England has 6.2 million people, Wales has 0.6 million Ireland has 1.4 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people. There is an expansion of libraries at the universities in a move to push forwards science. The agricultural revolution continues with labour saving techniques such as new plows while London grows as a city centre with new constructions in areas like Mayfair of newer brick houses while some of the interior slums are removed due to fire concerns and general uncleanliness.
The colony has a population of 1.45 million.
The Emirate begins to expand across the coast by 10 px. More Arms and sent to Emirate to help arm the people of the Emirate.
      • Al Badr: A group of 18,000 men are sent to Lynn Having with 2-gun boats, where they set up base (building walls, ports) and trade with natives while expanding 7 px across the coastline (east way). Most of the men and women there are armed. They also work on a massive port. A fort is made in Dothan when 2000 men were sent there they set up a fortress named North. The group begin to expand 20 px into Alabama taking (OTL Montgomery). Cotton and Sugar is shipped off home. in some cases underground framers sold Tabaco.
  • Russia: Construction of the Palace of St Rurik continues. The aurora borealis is witness in Novorossiya, a man named Devid Boui creates a song based after what he saw called "Zeny Zvezdnaya pply'". Tuvov is expanded 5 px. An outpost deemed Bobrov is set up on the central part of the Aleut Peninsula (OTL Alaska Peninsula) called Novoaleutia. The first Orthodox Church is built in Cinigrad paving a way for Orthodoxy in the New World. Five more ships are added to the Russian trade fleet, bringing furs to Japan and Sino-Korea. The Russian Cheondoryeol Islands (rest of the non-Korean Kurils) are placed under the governship of the Kamchatka Province, meanwhile the Aleutians are placed under the authority of the Aletuia colony as Russian territory.

  • Um can Saxony get a Cardinal or ArchBishop? I’m asking because I’ve constructed a Cathedral eight years ago and i still haven’t gotten any clergy to staff it so. Maine Nationalist (talk) 13:25, May 31, 2017 (UTC)
  • 1) Yes, you can have a Cardinal, 2) You are a Catholic European nation, you have plenty of bishops and priests of your own, your cathedral is not lacking in clergy, 3) Do not comment under mod events. ~Cal
  • 1) Thank you 2) Okay 3) Sorry -Brick
  • Rashidun Caliphate: After nine months of interregnum, the longest period of no Caliph in the history of Islam, the Ulema finally elect Yahya Al-Yunan as Caliph to succeed the infamous female Caliph of last year. The first act of Caliph Yunan determines that the source of the Caliphate's decline in the last few decades is rooted in their proximity to the Jaffarid clan in Syria. In order to remedy this problem, the Caliphate packed up every piece of the government: the Ulema, Caliph, officers, councilers, servants, the Seal and Mantle of Muhammad, the three Treasures of Egypt, and the portrait gallary of Al-Rahim. They took all of these items back to the old Caliphate capital of Cairo, leaving the Jaffarid Sultanate to rule in Damascus. The population has now reached almost 84 million. Meanwhile, the Amharic Aliyah reaches its climax, consolidating millions of Coptic and Amharic people back in Ethiopia and Sudan. The Solomonic Dynasty, still living in Beit Dawud since the Arab-Ethiopian War, organized a full royal court to administrate over this surge of population. In addition, the massive decentralization of the Caliphate in recent years enabled the Solomonic Dynasty to consolidate more de-facto rule over the exarchate of Amharics and Copts. The Sultan agrees to trade and technological exchange with Karnad if and only if they convert back to Islam.
    • Unofficial Diplomacy: A renegade Immaculata priest and a disgraced Roman nobleman visit the Caliph and suggest reviving the Norwegian Caliphate, offering a sum of gold (their private funds) to help pay for the scheme. The two consider the infidel Caliphate better than the heretical Scandinavians.
  • Malaya: A few Radical Buddhists declare their allegiance to Pol Pot of Lan Xan, calling themselves "Potists". As recommended by the Lan Xang God King, all radical Makanists are excommunicated. A scholar at the University of Malaya devises a method of elimination from algebraic equations. Catching up with Leibnizian calculus, notable progress is made in mathematical study. In a move endorsed by the Queen herself, the University of Malaya begins intake of female students. Although restricted to the upper classes, several conservative Christians and Muslims speak out against this. Shadow theater becomes more popular, with traditional Balinese-style puppetry mixed with modern elements. The Prince expresses his interest in shadow puppetry, and enters an apprenticeship with a famous shadow puppet theater. A strange trend has developed in urban Johor, with the fusion of coffee and laksa into something surprisingly edible.
  • Cologne: Archbishop Wulfrich apologises for his dormancy and expresses his full commitment to the court of equals advocated for by now all the German HRE states. All the preparations started in 1683 are wound up, with the Saxon-aligned states assumed to have attended to provide their knowledge after Saxony and Bohemia became part of the court proper. Wulfrich collates this information and reiterates the need for equality and checks and balances on any potential imperial-esque powers, so he begins to pen a founding document of this HRE court based on all contributions put forward thus far and reiterates his willingness to listen to other HRE states’ opinions. It is predicted that the writing of this document will be ready in a year or so. The books about a German understanding of justice are collated and added to the library in the University of Cologne, especially in the legal/justice section visited frequently by the emerging law school in the University of Cologne. Archbishop Wulfrich founds a Head Librarian position which involves, in addition to normal librarian duties, an obligation to constantly seek new understandings of justice updated from the writings of the HRE court, and constantly publish these understandings publicly on the long-running and now highly-regarded German Paper. This whole time, additionally, people in the Northern German states have been continually (and monetarily, through scholarships) encouraged to make their own decisions about what is right and not blindly accept old Protestant Preachers coming from Scandinavia. Given the slow success of the new court, some inspiration is spread throughout German lands. Meanwhile in Cologne itself, the same old militia-maintaining and trade-mobilising techniques continue.
    • Essen: Abbess Anniken is both excited and dismayed to hear that “feminists” have popped up in France and are being particularly vocal. As the leader of the Adelphinian Canonesses, who have been a proud all-female order and led by a woman since their founding in 1533 (and the Essen Abbey for even longer), Abbess Anniken is very interested in the “feminists” and their particular beliefs, but fully supports His Holiness’s encyclical on the more religious matters. Sensing a feminine connection to the “feminists”, Abbess Anniken invites the “feminists” of France to Essen Abbey (Mod response for the “feminists” please - what do they have to say? what can they contribute to the University?) to see the approach women have taken in the church for hundreds of years and the way they have achieved their own female-centric accomplishments. Abbess Anniken would be honoured to have “feminists” join the ranks of Adelphinian Canonesses or otherwise contribute to the scholarly discussion at the University of Essen. The Abbess-General (Anniken) would, as per usual, continue to look out for heresy, but is trying to extend the olive branch very far to these fellow intelligent women, on principle. The idea of "feminine studies" is thrown around, but does not gain much traction yet. Meanwhile, the canonesses in Tondo continue to expand along with the actual Tondoese people, integrating themselves further into the culture and picking up more and more local techniques, especially given that German canonesses have essentially all but disappeared from the order in Tondo. (They are all very old if they still exist.) Meanwhile in New Essen and Burgundian and Hospitaller Arcadia, the education system is finally beginning to work after a solid decade of canonesses negotiating their way through heightened racial tensions. Even still, it is difficult. Not much gets done. Several canonesses are frustrated, but the Abbess of New Essen emphasises that these canonesses should speak to the new Seminole canonesses and work together to look towards the best options for the future.
Granada is fully integrated into Greater Portugal this year. The Pope's verdict on Feminism is welcomed and enforced. On the colonial side, Iberia continues to assert its dominion over São Atto, building new settlements in the area. Nova Asturias greatly expands up the Rio Grande into OTL Texas and New Mexico. Settlers, missionaries, and soldiers begin moving into the colony. The Califórnias continue expansion down the coast. New settlements are built around Indian Bay. Baixa Califórnia expands up the peninsula. Mêcicipi expands upriver. Maranhão expands inland slightly. Montserrat and Santo Jacó receive more settlers. High taxes continue to be levied on Belkan traffic in the Strait of Gibraltar.
  • Lan Xang: Pol Pot continues his revolt, destroying some towns, and pushing for an ideology of "Self Reliance." His armies is mostly composed of animists, and he has backstabbed the radical buddhists, pushing the buddhists to the Makanists. Pol Pot has an even greater hatred of Catholics, slaughters when he sees them. Fortunately, the Pol Pot revolt has only been popular in rural areas, and the situation in the naiton is still improving. Line infantry was introduced to the army, using Korean firearms. They use these to fight the Potist rebels. Infrastructure is improving. New unity is rising from the Potist insurrection.
  • Russia: Tuvov is expanded 5 px along the Southern Novorossiyan Coast and 3px west by the Mikhail Channel (OTL Gompertz Channel). Novoaleutia is expanded 5 px up the Aleut Peninsula. Karbainov Petrovich returns to Cinigrad after the four year mapping expedition, he brings back a map detailing an archipelago to the Southeast and an inlet for a possible new settlement. In the West the Tsar send 20,000 Professional Russian soldiers to Pontus armed with our best rifles and heavy artillery. Five galleons and 15 frigates of the Russian Black Sea Fleet are sent to gather in Pontic Waters.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot: We aren't stopping with Mining gold and Iron Near Diltwa Wintuye so that we can pay of Artists and Sciencetists to make first of all modern Sinkyone Art (these are paintings based on Sinkyone ideas of how early history was). We Also ask if there are any Iberian Mussians willing to work us for money to create our first songs in a style that is typical Sinkyone and also to write down some European songs so that we can sing European anthems and royal songs and we Also ask Iberian Clothing makers to make a Suits for King Amadeus Diltwa and for his son.(Iberia Response).
  • Tsardom of Belka: Tsar Petar continues working in tandem with Grand Prince Tzapos of the new Grand Principality of Ionia helps crush a rather small revolt of a few of the more powerful other Princes who being rather unwanting to be part of this new principality attempt to maintain their independence only to come out for the worse. With a quick and short engagement and a major betrayal by the prince of Nicaea who betrayed for a noble title in Belka and his own estate outside of Sparta. The new Grand Principality now facing little to no threats outside of Rum begins to consolidate with Tsar Petars help and solidifies itself into a similar government with Grand Prince Tzapos reigning as an absolute monarch, fielding nearly 20,000 of his own troops armed and supplied by Belka's massive domestic arms production. The force immediately begins to be trained as a Professional force with great emphasis on combatting the tactics of the Sultanate of Rum and fighting an unconventional war. Belka itself still continues on the rebuilding of the damaged areas of Vlach with infrastructure and cities being repaired and rebuilt in the new modern Belkan style, emulating Belgrad in many ways. Karasi and Saruhan are once again pressured into joining the new Principality of Ionia as they are too small to survive on their own against Rum or other aggressors. (mod). Their quick and prompt response puts them on good footing with both Tsar Petar and Grand Prince Tzapos who immediately welcome both states with open arms. Ionia in particular takes out a rather large loan from the Belkan banks in order to finance the centralization and development of the new Principality. While this is going on the Tsar himself seeing that a heavier hand is needed to maintain peace in Asia minor draws back his direct forces to 15,000 but the remaining troops are a status of forces to prevent invasion of the region and generally keep the Principality stable as it begins its development. The Tsar openly proclaims his support for the new Leader of the Italian League and sends gifts to him and his family. The Economy has now mostly recovered from the war. However, the Succession war has triggered a new phenomenon of frontier settlement to fill in the empty land left by the dead and refugees in Moldavia dn Northern Vlach as well as around Belgrad and Sarajevo with multiple new farming hamlets a few estates and some towns and villages springing up.
    • Grand Principality of Ionia: With the revolt crushed and the pretenders all scattered to the winds or killed, the new Grand Prince of Ionia sets about restoring the region, he takes loans from Belka heavily to finance the re-development of the shattered region which still hasnt fully recovered from the Great Turkish war nearly 50 years ago. The Grand Prince Tzapos marries himself into a line of a noble from Belka and immediately announces the continuance of his Lineage. He proclaims Smyrna his capital and being one of the largest remaining cities that wasnt absolutely demolished or obliterated by the fallout of the Great Turkish war, the Grand Prince also makes it his main port city. The nations old broken, but still standing cities are assessed and he deems it necessary that many cities must be rebuilt in their old Byzantine Splendor and the years of Turkish rule must be forever erased from the region. Grand Prince Tzapos in that regard makes the site of Tsar Vasili-Kaloyan the Impalers landing in Anatolia during the driving of the Turks from Europe the site of a great fanfare and a town known as Vasilianople is established celebrating the event which is known as a source of pride for the Belkans just across the way. While many greeks are rather resentful of the repopulation of European greece with the Slavic Belkans, this resentment is somewhat changing due to the major point that the only reason the greek people have their independence back is due to the Belkans zealous fighting in asia minor to drive back the Infidels. With a state of nearly 1.2 million Greeks under his control, and the potential to become a valuable ally to one of Europes most powerful land empires, Grand Prince Tzapos models much of his country and its structure on Belka.

  • Scandinavian Empire: Development happens around the capital Riksdale, as well as in Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oldenburg and Visby. The ports of Vindov and Libov (Windau and Libau) in Couronia are being promoted. Colonial endeavours around Olafsdale (Labrador settlements) and New Blekinge (Hudson Bay settlements) continue. We move inland in our colonies, in order to expand our land mass, also moving in the direction of the great river towards the inland (OTL St Lawrence). Protestant preachers are sent to Oldenburg and the Hebrides and Catholic power is undermined in the region, and more money is sent to the Protestant groups within the Hansa. We plan a colonisation trip to Africa. Queen Catherine introduces tea as a popular drink in the higher echelons of Scandinavian society. The military is being reformed and a refurbishing of forts, particularely at the Karelian chokepoint, the Prussian-Scandinavian border and on the Sudreyar. King Kettil dies of a disease, and Prince Nils is crowned Emperor of Scandinavia at Riksdale Cathedral, with the Archbishop of Copenhagen putting the crown on his head. It is said that a storm raging outside stopped the moment the crown was put on his head. The 16-year old Emperor is helped to rule by his mother, Dowager Queen Catherine of Aragon. He proclaims support for Poland and Saxony, our allies, and proposes to marry a member of the Saxon family to continue the alliance.
  • Prussia-Bohemia: In Berlin noise is made about the growth in the anti brandeburger alliance developing in Scandinavia, Poland, and Saxony, amd a military build up focused more at home starts particularly along the border with Saxony an in HOlstein. In secret an envoy is sent to Warsaw, and to Stolkholm to try and negotiate with the nations about a possible descreasing in tensions, meanwhile Berlin takes a much more direct approach to Saxony, telling them to respect imperial authority and back down from their antagonistic approach towards the Burgundian-prussian monarchy. expansion and modernization of the Prussian and bohemian forces begin, having learned from previous errors and from the changing landscape in European military doctrine. Development of a more professional standing army conitunes, and efforts to expand the usage of artillery also begins. economic expansion continues particularly in Bohemia, silesia, and in the Hansa cities. As more protestants grow in northern germany the powers in Berlin and members of the royal family make efforts to come to terms with the growth. Philosophy and politics continue to be discussed in the great univeristies of Prussia. Despite the efforts to keep peace with the Poles and Scandinavians, Many in berlin desire a return of the lost west prussia, this is made clear by the envoy to Poland. An envoy is also sent to Paris, and to London, to try and improve relations that have been strained for time. Merchant activities in the North sea and in the Baltic start expanding as Hansa merchants increase in their acitivites. An effort to get rid of the expensive New Rhine settlement begins as Merchants in Hansa grow tired of sustaining an unprofitable venture, looking to burgundy or to england to sell the colony.  more to be added later.
    • Burgundian Dip: the Burgundian West India Company offers to buy the New Rhine settlement.
    • France offers to buy the settlement.
    • Polish Diplomat: We agree to begin to develop positive relations.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: As crop failures of oats affect Scotland and famine threatens to set in the Scottish Parliament request assistance which is denied by the British Parliament until the King again offers the same compromise he did to the Irish. With some bribery to the important Scotsmen and the promise of relief of their food crisis the Scottish agree to the Treaty of Union 1692 establishing the United Kingdom of Great Britain which creates a single Parliament and unification of a taxation system. With Scotland now a part of the main Kingdom the new British Parliament passes the Oats Relief Act 1692 subsiding the import of food into Scotland to resolve a crisis. England has 6.2 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.6 million, Wales has 0.6 million Ireland has 1.4 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people. The construction of roads and canals continues but the link between Glasgow and Lancaster is finished. England's non- Arcadian colonies continue to receive a steady settlement.
The colony has a population of 1.45 million.
  • France: Colonies continue to expand. Centralization in the realm continues. Spice Trade Monopoly continues to help the French East india company. French Zaire continues to expand around Loibtio and Namibie.
  • Poland: Major changes happen inside our alliance. Saxony is kicked out, and begin friendly relations with Prussia, we look foreword to them joining in the future. A new nation has also joined, Scandinavia.
  • Papal States: Pope Cornelius is very, very exhausted from all his work, and falls gravely ill. Cardinals already begin coming to Rome, with Cornelius, in one of his lucid moments, calling them 'circling vultures'. Missions continue.
  • Cambodia: Lan Xang's Pol Pot gains a big following from the Animist tribes in the mountains. They have not done much yet, however they are to be closely watched by the Government for any sign of trouble. Meanwhile, Stung Treng Province descends into a series of riots and massacres bordering on civil war, and King Bonaphum had to send 5000 troops to control these rebellions and prevent all-out civil war. After this incident, all radical Buddhists are "excommunicated", and some of the more dangerous ones are exiled to the many offshore islands and left to fend for themselves. The police force is also increased twofold, and Stung Treng is put under indefinite martial law. We request aid from Lan Xang and Malaya. Influenced by Malaya's egalitarian society, King Bonaphum officially decrees, "All people of Cambodia, whether they be man or woman, Makanist or Buddhist, Khmer or Malay, will be equal in this country." We continue building relations with all our allies, as well as our overlord Korea-China.
  • Swahili: We continue our agriculture policies. The army continues convincing contracted servants. Areas interior to Mombasa and Malindi is colonized. We also send out conquistadors to expand northwards into more northern Somalia. We continue colonial expansion. We adapt more plants to the Swahili climate. Mineral processing is developed. Agriculture advancements continues. Watermelons take a place in Swahili diet as it becomes widespread fruit. Potato reaches Swahili and begins to be trial planted. Maize, beans, squash, pumpkins, and gourds are planted in Swahili.
    • Sultanate of Qamar: Qamar is slowly joining the Swahili Cultural Sphere due to the widespread trade and use of Standard Swahili.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep is further developed.
    • Swahili Diplomacy: We wish for military cooperation with European States and offer many of our ship plans.

1693[]

A couple of feminist authors visit and are respectful to the Abbey of Essen, but expresses their concern of compelled celibacy as a means of control over women.

Immaculata are killed in Lan Xang during Pol Pot's purge of political and religious enemies.

The Duke of Argyll raises an army protesting the dominion of the British Parliament over Scotland and calls for the devolution of a Scottish Parliament once more or there will be war. He raises 5000 men and other nobles are considering joining him too. The Duke also begins stockpiling food supplies and buying from overseas in order to weaken the English stranglehold.

Savoy revolts from France, for less important reasons.

Pontus attempted to use the Russian support to build up its military to be professional. However, the military became professional so fast that the Georgian military leaders decided they want to overthrow the government. Although the coup is unsuccessful and quickly crushed, Rum takes the advantage to invade as a pre-emptive strike.

Tzapos is nearly struck by lightning. Seeing this as an act of God, the Greek population revolts from Nicea against the Slavic rule.

King Nils of Scandinavia the young ruler, embarks on a massive training schedule for his army. His brutal drilling and efficient system puts the Discipline and effectiveness of nearly every other European army in question. It is said the men love him, his strategies and tactics are nigh perfect, and many of his men call him "The Alexander of the North" (King Nils is a GL now)

  • Rashidun Caliphate: With the Caliphate having relocated its capital to Cairo, the Ulema work to establish their de facto rule over Egypt and East Africa outside of the Jaffarids influence. The Viceroyalities established in the Abbasid Dynasty are removed to more ceremonial titles, and instead a system of Beyliks are established to hold feudal administration over the Egyptian lands. The Kilab Al-Rub, personally controlled by the Caliph, is expanded to form an entire military of its own to protect the borders of Egypt. Baroque culture and technology is kept by special orders from the Caliph over Egypt. A ruling from the Ulema declares that no art or literature may advnace further than the Baroque, as it is the highest expression of Islam. The Jaffarid Sultanate takes a very different approach in the Middle East, however. There, the economy and military is kept fully up to date with Europe. Technological and scientific advantages towards agriculture and industry are imported by the Jaffarids and applied to the development of cotton, gold, and other resources from the Middle East. Military are expanded under the Amir Al-Jaesh, with a rigid military heiarchy down to the regiments in block formation. Further south, the Coptic people centralize around the urban centers in Ethiopia and the Blue Nile. The Coptic Pope, Mark V, moves to Beit Dawud for the purpose of crowning the head of the Solomic Dynasty as Emperor of Ethiopia. Meanwhile, The Caliph secretly sends mercenaries into Norway, on the expense of the anonymous benefactors of last year, in an attempt to re-establish the lost military expedition of previous years. Support is given to Rum, in support of Russia recognizing status quo antebellum with some small punishment to Rum.
  • Malaya: The Potist insurrection arrives in Malaya, with anti-monarchist factions pushing for a new government. The Royal Guard is immediately deployed to counter the insurgents. Batik style art becomes more popular in urban areas, becoming a distinct element of Malayan culture. Undeveloped land in the eastern states are converted into farmland. Agricultural education becomes an official subject in the University of Malaya, focusing on breeding better crops. Fish farming becomes a legitimate industry. Expeditions to Central Borneo are held, while advancement into the Bornean rainforest for territory continues.
    • Karnad Diplomacy: We request for a trading pact and would like to import bananas, rubber and tin from your country. We would like to have greater economic and cultural cooperation with your country.
    • Malay Diplomacy: We accept the offer.
  • Karnad: The Dakshini language is renamed to Dravidian. The Dravidian language continues to rise in popularity and usage and people have little problem conversing in it also due to simplicity of the language and script. All government records and major publications have been translated into Dravidian. This time under government supervision, gold and silver reserves, although small are turned into mines. The export of high quality steel and iron takes place through the Masulipatnam port as does the export of the widely popular Muslin and other printed textiles. The debt starts to be paid off. To aid in paying off the debt, the diamond mining activities in Kollur are placed under government supervision. A Secretariat and a building for the Treasury is constructed adjacent to the palace complex. The court decides to divide Karnad into five provinces, each placed under a Governor appointed by the King. The provinces are subdivided into Counties. Another county level post is created that of the Provincial Police Chief who is also directly appointed by the King and is not subordinate to the Governor. Land clearance continues. Landless farmers/tenants are given land in the newly cleared areas. As the amount of labor goes down, feudal houses start using their land for less labour intensive activities. Many feudal houses pioneer the use of the Swahili plow in their respective regions, other promote activities such as dairy and poultry farming using the large amount of freed up livestock. This results in a decline in absentee landlordism as a larger number of landlords get actively involved, they now have a genuine desire to improve their land holdings. They press for irrigation projects and the construction of roads. At the same time the major irrigation projects on the major rivers that were started earlier had proved useful in the security in the production of crops as well as helped in drought mitigation. Seeing the large number of landlords flooding the court, asking for more canals and irrigation and the benefits that come with it, the King creates a new Ministerial post, that of the Minister of Agriculture. The Agricultural Ministry building is constructed in the Palace complex in Mysore. The Minister of Agriculture is charged with the clearance of land, inventory of cash crops and wage crops, starting irrigation and drainage projects and their supervision and other aspects related to agriculture and related activities. Rama Rao a distant cousin of the King, an experienced bureaucrat becomes the first Minister of Agriculture. He increases the use of manure in farms which is produced in larger number due to an increase in animal husbandry activities. A naval base is constructed in Kollam with an integrated naval academy with dockyard facilities. The naval dockyards have been completed and produce six 8-gun ships, four 16-gun ships and two 32-gun ships every year. The naval dockyard in Kollam is assigned construction of a 64-gun ship which will be completed in two years. The shipbuilding industry makes efficient use of the large amounts of timber produced in the clearing of land. Instead of importing horses from Iran, horses are imported from Meluhha instead. Many people from Meluhha start settling in the western coastal cities as traders and merchants. Many Balochi people are given offers by feudal houses to settle in Karnad and engage in animal husbandry which is on the rise in Karnad.
  • Meluhha|Balochistan: Meluakam is renamed to Meluhha. The agricultural development project continues. More land becomes available for cultivation. Landless farmers from Karnad are provided free land and money to resettle in Meluhha. The Brahui-speaking (A Dravidian language) Balochi people (~100,000) get well integrated with the people from Karnad due to the similarity of languages. Kalat starts developing as the second major town in Meluhha after the capital, Uttaranagar. A written exam is conducted every year to recruit officer for the services in Meluhha. All people in Meluhha are allowed to participate. The 20,000 strong 1st Meluhha Army starts training. It mainly consists of cavalry. Foundries and Manufactories are established in Meluhha to make use of the copper and iron mined in Meluhha.
    • I again protest your assumption that Baloch is your colony. It is an autonomous kingdom under your protection (there was a clear distinction made between countries and colonies in the Treaty of Beyrut). You are claiming to have converted 100,000 Balochis to Karnadi culture and language within a few years, to have usurped the title of the king and replaced him with a colonial governor, renamed the whole country, and to have resettled 350,000 Karnadis to Baloch in a span of seven years (even though a mod event shut this down, you continued), bringing Baloch's Karnadi population to a total of 450,000 as of 1693. The worst part is there is absolutely no resistance from Baloch, when in reality they would be resisting every step of the way. I doubt you could effectively colonize and integrate them at all to this extent, considering the tech gap is not that significant, you don't share a border, and the Balochis would defend against Karnadi encroachment -- they have guns on par with Karnad and defensible terrain to their advantage. -General
    • 1) Brahui is an actual dravidian language. Two million Brahui speakers today live in Balochistan. 2) The mod event was before money and land both were offered for resettling. 3) The Balochi people are tribes and are thus disconnected, they are nomads and herders not very well organised. 4) Nate is very well aware. He would have done something by now. -Drake
    • 1) Cultural integration does not happen that quickly. 2) Your estimates are still way too high, despite all the incentives for settlement. 3) Baloch was released as a kingdom and would be somewhat settled already, even if the majority are nomadic. If Baloch was a purely tribal, unorganized area it would be colored black on the map. As I said, they have guns, defensible terrain, and an actual government. Having a nomadic population doesn't necessarily put them at a disadvantage. By this logic, Mongolia could be completely colonized and integrated by China in the same amount of time without a shot being fired. 4) There has been no resistance to your colonization of Baloch whatsoever; the fact that nothing has been done about it is the point of my argument. Removing your vassal king and replacing him with a Karnadi governor does not happen peacefully. Karnad shouldn't have this much direct control over Baloch in the first place, since they were literally sold to you for money and have no reason to respect your authority. -General
  • Great Union of Korea and China: The Emperor moves the capital from Hanseong to Dalian (Dalyeon in Korean pronounciation), which is designated as a "jointly-administered special city". As Tondo is a tributary, Korea–China does not intervene in its current conquest of southern Vietnam. Emissaries are sent to Tondo however, encouraging to instead spend their energy in colonizing the southern lands to form a buffer against potential European adversaries. After failing to domesticate tigers (though some individuals have been found to be friendly, but only to their owners or other close individuals), former ranches in Gangwon are converted into reservations to preserve the local population. A law is made forbidding the purposeful killing of a tiger, with those breaking the law being heavily fined. Nobility criticize French feminist publications, believing that the enforcement of gender roles are integral to achieving social stability. However, they do acknowledge the equal importance of either gender and if one regardless of gender has merit in a specific field, they should pursue it. However, these doctrines are merely what are stated in Confucianist classics and do not reflect any French influences whatsoever.
  • Lan Xang: The God King requests his Khmer counterpart to deal with the unrest with "caution" He further says that radical buddhists can only be shunned by other buddhists, not by the Makanist. However, he sends in 1000 advisors to make sure that the situation doesnt get out of hand, and to prevent the Potist movement from spreading to far into Cambodia. Pol Pot continues his rampage, being fought by the God King, killing "subhumans," such as catholics and others. However, they are beginning to lose the war. Pol Pot is on the retreat, and is retreating into Siam, doing a tactical retreat, a scorched earth campaign. The insurgents are reduced to petty bandits in some areas. However, the Tondo invasion of Dai Viet is of interest to us, and already 700 "volunteers" (not technically part of my army) have joined the fight against Tondo, fearing it will destabalize the region. Another 600 actual vounteers cross into the Dai Viet border, the government tries to stop them however, because they believe that a Tondo invasion will "Free Champa." They have hopes that Champa will be able to survive as a vassal of Tondo. However, the government denounces these men, but due to the nostagic times, it is not very uncommon to see anti Dai Viet sentimant, who was been Lan Xang's traditional enemy for a long time. However, the government remains pro Dai Viet.
    • Papal Dip: The Papal representative in Lan Xang thanks the 'God King' for his efforts to counter the evil tyranny of Pol Pot, and urges him to continue with his resolve to destroy him, thereby protecting his many Catholic (and other) subjects.
  • Electorate of Saxony: Due to Saxony’s large surplus of salted beef, pork and chicken, along with wheat, vegetables and wine due to their recent spike in agricultural production and seeing the Duke of Argyll was now buying up large surpluses of food and thus Saxon trade ships begin making port in Scotland selling of their meat, grain, and vegetables to the Scottish. But, more importantly the ships from Saxon also brought oats, hay, and barley all of which were in short supply after the failure of the oats crop in Scotland. Thus Saxony makes a fair amount of money via selling foodstuffs to Scotland and this is planned to continued until the Duke and England go to war. Meanwhile, back in the Holy Roman Empire the Prussian gunboat diplomacy backfires and Saxony calls a hearing in the court to decide if the buildup of military forces in preparation for an unprovoked attack against Saxony are legal. Meanwhile, a 15,000 strong professional Saxon army marches east and spreads out along the Saxon-Prussian Border where they dig in along the border and begin to construct artillery forts and citadels at key positions (Near towns, on large hills, and overlooking river crossings or valleys, etc). Meanwhile, another army of 5000 professional troops begins fortifying positions on the west side of the river Elbe. Along with this they hire 5000 mercenaries and call upon the fellow members of the so called “Anti-Imperial League” to also send troops to defend Saxony in the event of invasion.
    • OOC Person/ Britain: Your not getting 200 pounds of gold and 400 pounds of silver for selling some food they could have brought from a number of closer places which actually have coastlines. I am not even convinced that oats are grown in Saxony it is mainly a Scottish thing. I also am not blowing anyone out of the water yet, the Duke of Argyll can buy food if he so wishes he is just not giving you all that cash.
    • OCC Saxony/Brick: Firstly ... Germany is the tenth largest Oat producer in the world... so no the is not mainly a Scottish thing and secondly I have secured myself sea access via the Elbe... so lets not start saying that the Scottish thing is ASB and also as a sign of good faith I lowered the amount he was giving us. Also i've sold him about 2.73 million pounds of assorted food or enough to feed his army for six months. So... He owes me a hefty sum.
    • I agree with Person. For one, Saxony has no coast, though the Elbe has ports, so its ability to send ships up the Elbe and across the English Channel and Irish Sea is debatable. Secondly, saying "Saxon makes a total killing off of selling to Scotland" is a bit powergame-y, since there was no mod response to your offer. You can support the rebels at your own expense any time, but Argyll owes you nothing. -General
    • I mean I don't disagree that Saxony can sell to this Duke but I mean how much are we talking about here. France, Burgundy and Scandi are all closer geographically so you're not the only one selling by any means. Getting a barge to mouth of the Elbe then loading it onto an ocean bearing ship which can sail all the way around to Argyll and Bute which is a pain considering your not offloading at general Scottish ports since they're still controlled by those loyal to the King. I already gave them enough food last turn so they're not that desperate. Fine you can mention it in your turn but your not going to be selling that much food (2.73 million is more than he will need for six months) nor at exorbitant prices. Person
    • Well, from my research one person eats one pound of food per meal and if they eat three meals per day for six months then 2.73 million pounds of food is the required amount. My own army as Saxon consumes 10,950,000 pounds of food per six months and I have 15,000 more mouths to feed then the duke.-Brick
  • Cambodia: With Stung Treng now stabilized, we move on to other affairs. The "Potist Revolutionary Front for Reformation of the Government", as the animists following Pol Pot call themselves, have taken several villages high up in the mountains, and seem to be using them as bases for guerrilla attacks. They have also massacred any "subhuman scum" (i.e all non-Animist Khmers) they encounter. To add insult to injury, the Radical Buddhists exiled to Koh Rong and other Khmer-controlled islands in the Gulf of Thailand have reunited under one government and are proclaiming the "Buddhist Theocratic Republic of the United Khmer Isles", leaded by Hun Sen, a prominent Radical Buddhist and believed to be the one responsible for burning the Makanist quarters of Stung Treng city down to the ground twice, thus inciting two separate massacres that threatened the stability of the country and brought it to the brink of civil war. To make things worse, King Bonaphum had a dream one night that he was getting squeezed to death by Pol Pot and Hun Sen, and only survived because three of his troops killed them. After asking his fortune-tellers to interpret the dream, he comes to the conclusion that he would face a two-front civil war in the near future, and he had to make the first move. He then dispatches 50,000 troops to the mountain areas to defeat the Potists, while the rest of the army is sent to the coast to defend against the Radical Buddhists.
    • OCC Lan Xang: Mods - FYI- Derp and I are sticking to modern and semi modern people's names. You all know Pol Pot I assume, but FYI, Hun Sen is the name of the current Prime Minister of Cambodia. So just some information if you want to include him in a mod event. We are continuing the trend you started with the hitlerite wars. (i said president earlier, I have poor memory.)
    • Lan Xang Dip: 1000 troops, veterans of the liberation war, come to help defend Cambodia. To aviod aggravating our large buddhist minority, we only send them towards the Potists. The God King says he should have known Pol Pot would go into Cambodia, considering the fact Pol Pot was an Ethnic Khmer. In response to the radical buddhists under Hun Sen, a propaganda campaign is started to discourage buddhists from joining. "These radicals will only end up helping the foreigners to exploit Cambodia. King Bonaphum will make Cambodia great again!" "Do not commit treason against your King, the negative Karma you will get for treason will be very great." "If you return to your King, he will be forgiving towards you, and accept your repentance. Do not join Hun Sen!"
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and WiyotWe are hunting animals near the Old and ruined buildings of the former Sinkyone Nongatl union tribe so that we can pay of Artists and Sciencetists to make first of all modern Sinkyone Art (these are paintings based on Sinkyone ideas of how early history was). We Also ask if there are anny Iberian Mussians willing to work us for money to create our first songs in a style that is typical Sinkyone and also to write down some European songs so that we can sing European anthems and royal songs and we Also ask Iberian Clothing makers to make a Suits for Kingd Amadeus Diltwa and for his son.(Iberia Response). We also Ask Iberia If we can Buy five Iberian boats and get sailors from Iberia Teach how my men can become Sailors so that we can explore the Coast in their name and give the information to them. We also Keep settlers to the "Colonies". We Also Make Mzer the Official Naval Capital of our country. While Diltwa Wintuye will become the Seat of Government.
    • Iberian Diplomacy: Iberia agrees to sell five small ships to Mzerka and teach them the ways of the ocean in exchange for payment. They also agree to the other stuff, but charge a high fee due to logistics.
    • Mzerkan Dip: We will accept to buy the boats but we ask them what they want as payment.
  • Tsardom of Belka: Tsar Petar brings his army to bear on the revolting Greeks in Nicaea and blockades the region preparing to make an armed intervention should the revolt not die down on its own. While this is going on the Tsardom continues on its own efforts at home, having nearly finished the rebuild of Vlach. With thousands of people there having moved there and the cities having begun their restoration, the province looks to finally become as important to the core as Bulgaria proper. The development of the regions around Belgrad and Sarajevo continue as well with many people leaving the overcrowded cities in Bulgaria and taking up better opportunity in the other provinces of the Empire. The Banking system continues to expand and prosper as well.
  • Prussia-Bohemia: Under the guidance of Emperor Wilhelm commander's the military continues to be stationed on the border of scandinavia, and Saxony, Wilhelm offers the saxons to come to Berlin to come to terms, as a representative of the anti-imperial faction, also inviting his long time ally Cologne, as well as inviting Poland, France, England, and Burgundy to send representatives. Efforts to improve higher education and the sciences within the domains of the Prussian-Bohemian Crown are started  in earnest. Major efforts are also placed to start professionalizing the armed forces along more modern lines. Trade and commerce in general improve greatly as hansa merchants become more active. Members of the Prussian and Bohemian aristocracy begin asserting a need to see to German needs over those of their partners in the Burgundy. Many of the nobles begin demanding that the King-Emperor who is in fact the king of Prussia first and a German no less start taking a greater concern in Prussian affairs and rule as the god mandated monarch that is he is.. In other news members of the Prussian intelegensia begin questioning and examining the similarites and differences that exist between the Prussian and Burgundian models of government, with the Prussian and Bohemian elite more inclined to follow a paternalistic figure. The eldest Grandson of the aging Emperor, Otto takes a great interest in the growing unrest in Prussia and Bohemia, largely as he is an ambitious individual with aspirations to one day assume the great throne of Prussia where he would be able to hae a greater hand in handling affairs of the state then in Burgundy were the crown is highly restricted by the Estate General, where as the Prussian one is little more then a rubber stamp for Royal authority. An invitation is also extended to Austria to reach the conference, mod please respond to the request for austria.
    • Burgundian Dip: a representative is sent, though in light of recent tensions the army is mobilized.
  • Great Iberia: King Pedro continues centralizing the realm under the House of Braganza, consolidating the core territory of Portugal and promoting the Portuguese language and culture throughout the mainland and Mediterranean holdings. With the integration of Granada, the Portuguese demense now covers the Strait of Gibraltar and all shipping that passes through it. High taxes continue to be levied on Belkan traffic in the strait. Secret: Iberia begins actively supporting the Scottish uprising, providing the Duke of Argyll with weapons, supplies, and funding. Light support is also extended to the Savoyan rebels, and some Iberian mercenaries travel to Savoy to join them. On the colonial side, Nova Asturias greatly expands up the Rio Grande into OTL Texas and New Mexico. Settlers, missionaries, and soldiers are moving into the colony. Explorer and conquistador Leon do Cespedes traverses the river as far north as Casca Branca (OTL Santa Fe), defeating the resident Pueblo Indians and founding a new settlement at the site. OTL Albuquerque is also deemed a good spot for a future settlement. The Califórnias continue expansion down the coast. New settlements are built around Indian Bay. Baixa Califórnia expands up the peninsula. Mêcicipi expands upriver. Montserrat and Santo Jacó (St. Kitts) receive more settlers. Increasingly aware of France's growing presence in West Africa and rising tensions in the region, Iberia sends a fleet of 20 ships and2 2000 troops to Benguela in case of a French attack.
    • Benguela: The Governor of Benguela assembles a force of 300 colonial troops and some 800 slaves at Benguela for defensive purposes. 100 colonial troops and 500 slaves are raised at Velha-Benguela. He secretly offers an alliance with the Ndongo Kingdom, promising support to dislodge the French from Luanda. (Mod Response)
    • Iberian Diplomacy to France: Iberia demands the French abandon the trading post of Lobito, which is located between the Portuguese ports of Benguela-Velha and Benguela within the greater Benguela colony and thus de jure territory of Portugal.
  • Kingdom of Great Britain and Scotland: Since obviously some Scottish people are not happy with this reasonable treaty of Union, the treaty of Union is repealed and Scotland is a separate Kingdom. England has 6.2 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.6 million, Wales has 0.6 million Ireland has 1.4 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people. The construction of roads and canals continues but the link between Glasgow and Lancaster is finished. England's non-Arcadian colonies continue to receive a steady settlement.
The colony has a population of 1.45 million.
  • Cologne: Archbishop Wulfrich painstakingly finishes the first draft of this founding document, called the Constitutional Rights and Obligations of German Peoples Under the Holy Roman Empire and Judiciary, with its short name the “German Constitution”, and offers to take the bare-bones draft to the Council to be held in Berlin to see what the wishes of the so-called “anti imperial league” or, essentially, Saxony, might be and how they might be included in a founding document of the Holy Roman Empire’s Court. At any rate, he joins the council. Meanwhile in Cologne itself, the many judicial and legal scholars continue to learn from old books and share their knowledge, slowly developing a basis of canon and common law upon which to work. The Head Librarian remains active as always, sharing new legal viewpoints through the German Paper. Wulfrich is somewhat concerned that the German Paper may become elitist and ensures that it is printed and displayed publicly outside church doors in all the relevant HRE states. Meanwhile, Cologne continues to give scholarships to more and more young people from Northern German states to educate themselves. This much higher level of education begins to lead to a refutation of old and pointless so-called “Protestant” influences for their unnecessary division of German people when the Northern German Rite includes all of basically the same religious principles and differences to the Latin Catholic Rite, and has been working harmoniously with them in the German sphere for years and years.
    • Essen: Abbess Anniken is somewhat surprised at the “feminist” authors’ perspective, but takes this opportunity to clarify how the vow of celibacy works for women in the Adelphinian Canonessses. She emphasises to the “feminists” that celibacy is a choice made by women that empowers them to choose what they do or don’t do with their body. Further, it is not actually a precursor to women getting an education with the Adelphinian Canonesses – not all Adelphinian Canonesses have taken a vow of celibacy, as there are many secular canonesses who spend many years at an abbey before eventually marrying. Nothing about celibacy in the Order of St Adelphina (or the Adelphinian Canonesses) means that women are controlled – in fact, it puts more of the power in the hands of the woman herself. Inspired by these “feminists” and their perspective, Abbess Anniken sits down to write a series of papers on the subject of women’s choices within the church. She kindly also offers the “feminist” authors a chance to contribute further to the discussion or join the ranks of Adelphinian Canonesses to further their worldly knowledge at the University of Essen or potentially in overseas institutions. Meanwhile in Tondo, the only remaining German canonesses are those on exchange and the institution has become entirely locally-based. They continue to follow the Tondoese government into these new places, assisting war-affected populations as they go. Meanwhile in New Essen, and Burgundian and Hospitaller Arcadia, the situation remains different – in Hospitaller Arcadia, the numbers of Seminole canonesses are slowly increasingand the education system is close to fully developed; in Burgundian Arcadia, racial tensions are only just beginning to subside enough for the canonesses tointegrate an education system with the local people. With the help of Seminolecanonesses, the German canonesses begin to fully understand the hurdles that lie before them.

As almost all of OTL South Australia is unified by Djalu, he invades northward to besiege the theocratic state at the  White Chapel on Mount Uluru. The Dreamspeakers there surrender to Djalu, and describe their dreams foresaw his great coming and destiny to unify the Anangu, in order to revive the worship of Ngintaka. As such, Djalu reaches a religious epiphany, and accepts rule by the Dreamspeakers under the new name of the Uluru Empire.

Prussia, Burgundy, Cologne, France and England all still have to cast their votes in the College of Cardinals (Principia Moderni IV Map Game).

  • Rashidun Caliphate: In the new capital of Cairo, the Ulema set up the old citidel of earlier dynasties as the new residence of the Caliph and all his court over the House of Islam. The treasures of Egypt are restored to their previous residence in the citidel, now ordained with the portrait gallery of Al-Rahim. The Ulema works to make legislation to remove all influence of the Jaffarids from their sphere in Egypt, mostly by dismantling the administrative and judicial structure they manipulated. A separate miltiary is made out of the Kilab Al-Rub to defend the nation. Legislation is also made to restrict all art and literature to that of the Arab baroque style.
    • Jaffarid Sultanate: The secular authority takes control over the Middle East. With the absense of the Caliph, the Jaffarids attempt to alter the entire judicial structure to award them as the head of state ove the middle east. This was only partially successful. The military is modernized to the level of Europe. Art and culture continue to advance into a classical style, especially in terms of science and technology. The military help sent to Rum consists of 20,000 modern troops commanded by the Amir Al-Jaesh.
    • Ethiopian Empire. Pope Mark V goes to Beit Dawud and crowns Yohannes Tigres as Emperor John, and crowns the monk Mattheos as Ruling Bishop of Beit Dawud, ruilng in the Pope's absence while he adminsitrates from Alexandria. The first acts of the Emperor is to expand his influence over all the Coptic communities recently relocated into East Africa. The result creates a series of disjointed communities or "judges" ruling with only nominal adherence to the Emperor. The Monestary of Bishop Mattheos holds the sacred significance of housing the Ark of the Covenant
      • Papal Diplomacy: Pope Zosimus II sends an envoy to pay homage to the Christian emperor and to talk about the great benefits of Christian unity.
  • Bengal Empire: We concentrate on developing burdagan and mine in the precious mineral belts of Burma continuosly for Gold,Ruby,Sapphire, and Imperial Jade. These products have been exported to our trade partners for manufactured goods and Pounds of Gold. Chocolate and Coffeee remain a high exporrted good to colonies and surrounding provinces and trade partners to make a good profit. Our cuts this year drop to 16%. Our spice market continues on its road to recovery and our military and educational system continues to be developed with 38,000 troops joining this year and our educational system changing slightly with it being ore concentrated on. Rural and Suburban areas of the empire are pushed to have more agricultural developmant and more of a modern infrastructure. Plows are made across the nation to ease crop production. Tea in Ahom continues to be a main crop export for the area. We also send 89,000 troops to Nepal to aid against Tibet. These troops are also sent with cannons, gunpowder, and supplies of other goods and weaponry to teach and fight with Nepalese troops. More roads are built across the nation adding to secondary and multiple other trading routes across the nation. More Universities and schools are constructed this year. Our government plans to continue to recover from the crisis and will return back to its former state debt free in a few more years. We continue to spread islam and political influence across India. We request the surrounding states around the Empire to join us for the better future of their people and future development and protection (Mod Response).
  •  Cambodia: Hun Sen's Radical Buddhist forces do not invade the coast as of yet, because they are facing threats from the "Potheads". However, as the soldiers stationed at the coast ask to leave to fight the Potists, their generals do not let them, because "Even if the Islanders [what the Radical Buddhists under Hun Sen are colloquially called] don't attack now, that doesn't mean they won't attack later. We must be ready for any incursion". Meanwhile, the Potist insurrection continues making general disruption in north-eastern Cambodia. Despite 50,000 Khmer and 1000 Lan Xangi troops to defeat them, Pol Pot's armies have mastered the use of guerrilla warfare, and about 40% of our troops have been killed, with them suffering little loss (~5-15% according to spies). "Pothead" forces have stormed the towns of Virachey, Banlung, and Lumphat, and burned them to the ground, along with killing any survivors. Around 12,000 are reported to be killed. The Potist insurgency now seems to be heading west, towards the Mekong and the destabilized Stung Treng. The 30,000-strong survivors of the Khmer army are told to retreat into Stung Treng, to lure the "Potheads" into lowland regions, where they would be swiftly killed. Meanwhile, two more stone walls are being built around Reachathan (for a total of 6), as well as walls around major cities in lowland Cambodia, as spies tell us that the Potist insurgency lacks siege equipment. Muskets are fully incorporated into the Khmer army, and thus Khmer society.
    •  Lan Xang Diplomacy: A force of 500 mounted infantry with firearms and 50 war elephants joins the fight against Pol Pot. Along with this, is an artillary brigade, incorporating the latest Korean-Chinese artillery, designed to smash Pot head positions. There are about ten cannons, six regular and four mortar, while, they are manned by an extra 100 men armed with firearms. Meanwhile, our spy network tries to instigate a Pot head - Islander war.
Secret: Now that England has accepted the demands of the Scottish, Iberia focuses on supporting the Savoyan rebels, providing them with weapons, supplies, and funding. Some Iberian mercenaries travel to Savoy to join the revolt. On the colonial side, Nova Asturias greatly expands up the Rio Grande into OTL Texas and New Mexico. Settlers, missionaries, and soldiers are moving into the colony, with a regional capital at Casca Branca (OTL Santa Fe). The missions of OTL Sonora have evolved enough to be considered a proper colony, named Nova Andaluzia. Settlements are built in the interior of OTL Chihuahua. The Califórnias continue expansion down the coast. Indian Bay continues to receive settlers. Baixa Califórnia expands up the peninsula. Mêcicipi expands upriver. Montserrat and Santo Jacó (St. Kitts) receive more settlers.
    • Benguela: With France ignoring Iberia's demands, the Governor of Benguela is given authority to expel the French from Lobito by force. A force of 2300 troops and 20 ships arrive in Lobito to capture the settlement. Secret: Benguela offers an alliance with the Ndongo Kingdom, promising to help dislodge the French from the coast. (Mod Response)
  • Lan Xang: The God King decides to completely phase out all full armor in the military, and replace it with cotton uniforms that is now grown in Lan Xang, which was purchased from Korea which they got from the Colombian exchange. They still retain Lan Xang hats though. They have now fled to Siam, Cambodia, and those that want a war zone to give them protection, they flee to Vietnam, in the hopes of being hired as mercenaries by the armies fighting there. (Dai Viet, Tondo). Sadly, due to the Potist revolt, Catholicism has been almost wiped out from Lan Xang, while Makanism is stronger, due to people moving to the God King for protection. buddhism is stable, and buddhists were targets along with Christians, Muslims and Makanists. Islam has persisted, as it is primarily in the North. The rebuilding of Lan Xang begins. However, Lan Xang troops remain in Cambodia.
  • How, when, why, how are you getting all the guns, who taught you, nobody around you uses this or has adopted this tactic. Just no -Feud
  • Malaya: Islander raids on ports plague the eastern coast. Half of the Royal Navy is diverted into the Gulf of Siam to fend off the Islanders. Insurgent Potists continue to fight in northern Malaya, but their numbers have been whittled down drastically. Many try to escape to Islander territory, but are intercepted by Malayan coastal patrols. Line infantry tactics inspired by the Lan Xangi forces are implemented in Malaya. Malaya offers trade and cultural exchange with Brunei (Response Needed). Several herbs and spices found in Bornean expeditions are brought to the peninsula to farm.
    • Lan Xang: Malaya is warned that by next year an assault on Koh Rong should happen, so that the Islanders cannot purchase advanced weapons from unpredictable states such as Japan or Tondo. The Godking is worried that the poor Khmer performance on Land against the potists might be repeated should the Islanders invade Cambodia proper.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot: We are hunting animals near the Old and ruined buildings of the former Sinkyone Nongatl union tribe so that we can pay of Artists and Sciencetists to make first of all modern Sinkyone Art (these are paintings based on Sinkyone ideas of how early history was). We also get more refined in goldsmithing and diltwa asks Iberia if he hire the best clothing maker posible to make a costume for him. We also produce more Elk wool.and we begin to wear kilt like skirts with under them a kind of shorts all made our of hides and wool.
  • Kingdom of Great Britain and Scotland: The King dies this year and is replaced by his 25 year old son John II or John O'Kennedy is now King of Great Britain and Scotland. The Great Fire of Warwick occurs and this leads to Fire Prevention Act 1694 mandating new constructions to live the street a certain width. Fearful of fire outbreaks in towns after London and Warwick many town councils review some of their more vulnerable areas and plan for a general rebuild of the towns. This reconstruction is paid for by local councils. The Triennial Acts are passed mandating new elections every three years for the British Parliament. England has 6.3 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.7 million, Wales has 0.6 million Ireland has 1.4 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people. The construction of roads and canals continues but the link between Glasgow and Lancaster is finished. There is an expansion of libraries at the universities in a move to push forward science. The agricultural revolution continues with labour saving techniques such as new plows while London grows as a city centre with new constructions in areas like Mayfair of newer brick houses while some of the interior slums are removed due to fire concerns and general uncleanliness. England's non-Arcadian colonies continue to receive a steady settlement.
The colony has a population of 1.45 million.
  • France: In response to the Iberian invasion of our Angola settlement, we invoke our alliance with the Sultanate of Al Alfiriqa. We send in troops into their territory to assist them in the war against Iberia. We begin training their army. Also, we try and defend french zaire.
  • Kingdom of Burgundy: New Netherlands expands 30 px into OTL New York. Nova Belgica begins consolidating control over Prins Rupert Eiland (OTL Prince Edward Island). New Germany expands 50 px east. Maryland expands 50 px north, building several settlements along the east coast. In response to a request from the Burgundian West India Company, some 5000 troops are move to be stationed in the Arcadian colonies, as support should they begin having problems with natives. An envoy is sent to Borneo from the Burgundian East India Company, offering them to become a Burgundian protectorate (mod response pls). Another envoy is sent to Swahili, telling them Burgundy would be interested in military cooperation.
  • Al-Afriqia State: Sultan Aseel declares a state of emergency following Spain's declaration of war against our ally France, and Sultan Aseel sends 3500 troops to properly defend Lobito, with them being equipped with our best military equipment we've bought from the Rashidun and France [Mod]. As our economy continues to grow, Sultan Aseel and his wife promote child birth in the state, but do not force it, as a larger workforce is needed to further the economy's strength.
    • You wouldn't have been able to defend Lobito before my troops captured it. You would have to pass through Ndongo and the fort at Velha-Benguela in the north, and if you went by sea you'd have to deal with my fleet. -General
    • I figured your troops would have captured it by the time I sent troops. No, I wouldn't have had to pass through Ndongo and the fort because I literally share a border with the French colony, so I would simply have my troops cross the border and push your troops out of the French region. Not that hard, considering we practically have the same weapons, with the difference being I sent more troops. -Solace
    • As I said, I have a fort at Velha-Benguela (OTL Porto Amboim) near the French border. I think you mistake the location of Lobito for Luanda. This is Lobito: [1] -General
  • Papal States: Habemus Papam! After a tightly-fought conclave, Cardinal Paulo emerges victorious, and takes the regnal name Pope Zosimus II, after the fifth century pope and saint of the same name. Not wishing to create any enemies, Zosimus appoints the second-placed cardinal, the Cardinal-Archbishop of Lisbon, as the Cardinal Secretary of State, a significant position in the Curia. His Holiness immediately commissions a report on the state of the Papal military, and makes plans to radically streamline the operations of the Curia and government generally. Missions continue in the New World, Korea-China, Giapan, Lan Xang, and Southern Africa.
  • Swahili: We continue our agriculture policies. The army continues convincing contracted servants. Areas interior to Mombasa and Malindi is colonized. • Russia: Tuvov continues to expand, Novoaluetia has most of the southern Aleut Penninsula. A capital accident discovers a large island and sets up a small town called Kodiak. We ask Rum to for peace and go back to pre-war borders (MOD RESPONSE).

1695[]

One state offers to be a vassal of Bengal.

Savoy is independent.

A spongiform encephalopathy prion, colloqially called the "Wasting sickness" breaks out among the Mzerka people, having the horrific symptoms of causing rapid atrophe of muscles followed by death.

Rum accepts Russia's proposal. However, their inability to take Pontus results in internal political tension.

Djalu establishes his court at the Ochre Chapel in Njarridjeri to administrate over the Uluru Empire. The Dreamspeakers are placed in the highest religious authority from the White Chapel on Mount Uluru. Djalu then goes out to conquer the remaining states outside of OTL South Australia.

  • Rashidun Calipahte: The Ulema establish their rule over Cairo. The new military made out of the Kilab Al-Rub makes some protection to the borders of Egypt, but for the most part they work much better as personal guard and city law enfocers of metropolitan Cairo. The personal treasury of the Caliph is pooled to fund the Ulema and their operations in the Citidel, but other economic endevors are checked as well. Museums and universities are supported across Egypt, but the restrictions on art and culture remian. The Caliph also begins working to strengthen the control of the Caliphate over the ecclesiastical branches of Islam across the world, mostly in South Africa, Laurentia and Southeast Asia.
    • Jaffarid Sultanate: The military under the Amir Al-Jaesh are consolidated under Jaffarid rule, particularly in their gradual modernization. The administration of the Jaffarid clan in Damascus completes their effort to transfer the administrative structure of the Rashidun over the complete control of the Jaffarids. Oman, however, rejects this siezure of power, and revolts from the Jaffarid rule. So the Amir Al-Jaesh, Abu Bakr Jaffar, leads an invasion of 60,000 troops into Oman to rush the revolt in Bahla and Masqat. Economic technology is also expanded and updated. The Jaffarids also work to establish foreign policy as their control as well. 13,000 troops are sent to help Morocco in their military endevors.
    • Ethiopian Empire: Emperor John and the ruling Bishop Matheos Al-Ziwa adminsitrate the de-jure empire from the capital of Beit Dawud, now renamed to its colloquial name Medinah Jamil (OTL Ziwa). The Emperor maintains a status of vassalization under the Caliphate until such time he can centralize authority to himself. In the mean time, more of the Arab colonies in the region gain independence, only to become largely-independent princes under the Judges system. Friendly relations are kept with the Roman Pope for the sake of preserving pilgrimages, but religious dialogue is kept only with the true Pope in Alexandria.
      • Papal Diplomacy: The Papal Envoy assures the Ethiopians that they are welcome to the Catholic Church's shrines and churches in the Holy Land and throughout Europe, even despite the unfortunate continuation of the schism between Rome and Alexandria.
  • Great Union of Korea and China: The Emperor pressures the Tondoese Lakan to withdraw from southern Vietnam and divert its resources in colonizing the south, seeking to turn Tondo as a bulwark against unwanted European imperialism. The sewage system in Beijing is revamped and fixed to avoid any disease outbreaks and contamination of fresh water sources. An imperial palace is built in Dalian, with the Hanseong palace is designated as the winter palace while the Forbidden designated as the spring palace.
  • Lan Xang: Religiously-themed music begins to be made by orchestras. This music is OTL Mor Lam in style, however replaces the humorous lyrics with songs praising Makan and God incarnate. The primary instrument is the Khene, and the vocals resemble a rap type deliver. Songs insulting women are banned, and one can end up with a severe penalty for writing/playing such a song. However, despite the sweet sounds of music, there is indeed a threat from the Potists and Islanders, so an expeditionary force of 3000 troops are sent into Cambodia. Some are sent to help defend the coast. In terms of cuisine, Glutinous rice is popular, while Khao Poon (rice noodles) are also enjoyed by many upper class. Thai basil is used for cooking, along with chili, ginger, etc. Fish and Soy Sauce are used to flavor some food. Pork is common to be eaten as meat. Nam Tok is a popular meat based Salad. For soups, Tom Yum is enjoyed, as well as Or Lam. Most peasants just eat Rice and if they are lucky Ping tai (grilled chicken). Rice wine is a popular beverage in the upper classes.
Protestant preachers are sent to Oldenburg and the Hebrides and Catholic power is undermined in the region, and many funds are sent to the Protestant groups within the Hansa. We plan a colonisation trip to Africa. Queen Catherine introduces tea as a popular drink in the higher echelons of Scandinavian society. A refurbishing of forts, particularely at the Karelian chokepoint Vyborg, the Prussian-Scandinavian border and on the Sudreyar. The 18-year old Emperor Nils is helped to rule by his mother, Dowager Queen Catherine of Aragon. He proclaims support for Poland and Saxony, our allies. Due to tensions within the Council at Berlin, the army remains mobilized and ready for attack, same as our navy. A brigade of 500 troops are sent to capture the Saracen invaders. DEUS VULT!
  • Great Iberia: King Pedro continues centralizing the realm under the House of Braganza, consolidating the core territory of Portugal and promoting the Portuguese language and culture throughout the mainland and Mediterranean holdings. Trade with the new world counties as new world food and items becoming the new fab to wear/use. A trade envoy is sent to Ethopia the land is descrbied as "The land of Christians" due to the amount of non-Muslims in the land, this causes some tension in the air due to the de facto rule and this raises awareness to the Caliph and the Sultan Faruk. The Sultan takes the Caliphate new weaponry and begins to arm troops with it, while at the same time working on creating/mixing Maghreb and European weaponry. Government: Faruk works on improving the number of people (as the population stands at ten million), he works on moving more people to Urban cities and demanding more framers to plant more often). Seeing the killing of Tajjamdians the State begins to hold up strong military view as the Emir begins to arm more colonist. • Kingdom of Great Britain and Scotland: Fears of rising tension between France and Iberia in addition to rising tensions between a lot of nations in northern Germany the King advises Parliaments it would be prudent to raise the militia and equip them as professional soldiers in case any number of Britain's enemies attacks it. So the Parliament of Great Britain orders the raising of 35,000 militia to train as part of the British Army while 5000 Scottish men to train as the Scottish army. The current professional army run the training and take positions of leadership such as NCO's and junior officers while to make up the shortfall a combination of the nobility and the university and grammar educated also take on roles as officers while remaining NCO's are simply taken from men best suited. This 40,000 strong force immediately begins training in the Salisbury plain and for the Scots outside of Edinburgh. The Church sends more missionaries to Mzerka to help the Catholic natives with their unfortunate bout of sickness. A significant number of priests is sent to Southern Africa to strengthen and maintain the Faith there. A small seminary is established in Southern Africa to train native Christian boys for the priesthood, or to train married men for the diaconate. Missions elsewhere continue.
  • Al-Afriqia State: With France sending troops, we take this year to further train our remaining soldiers not in the action, as we expect this conflict to go on for a few years and want to prepare. In other news, Sunhaib continues his meaningful search for purpose in the Rashidun. Raashid, the third and final son of Jalaal, ventures to France to further his knowledge of politics. Sultan Aseel pursues further relations with the Maghreb, sending a small envoy of diamonds for Weaponry from the fellow Islamic nation. Secret: With Ndongo siding with Iberia during the conflict, we sneak in Islamic missionaries into the kingdom to preach propaganda slandering Ndongo and their alliance with Iberia, and also have them preach about how Al-Afriqia is the true Islamic state in all of Sub-Saharan Africa, and how Ndongo simply giving into Al-Afriqia would be the best decision for the citizens and welfare of the Islamic community. We make sure these are said specifically when governmental figures of the kingdom are not present, and further limit the message to only Muslims and other affiliates of Al-Afriqia. The economy continues to grow as more minerals are mined.

Before long nobles begin to swear their loyalty to the Wettin-Albertines (The Current Rulers) or House Genovese (The Rebels). Before long battle lines were drawn and Saxony and their nobles were torn apart by inter-conflict. The conflict also begins to spill out past Saxony and into surrounding HRE states. Before long both sides have amassed their forces. The rebels had a large army of 30,000 Infantry and 10,000 Cavalry while the ruling family had gathered a smaller army of 15,000 Infantry and 5000 Cavalry. But, they were more experienced then the less trained rebel army. However, both sides agree to keep this conflict internal and no outside alliances are made and the conflict is self contained within Saxony.

  • Rashidun Caliphate: The Ulema in Cairo creates a stable economy around the fees and tithes around the land of Egypt. The expanded military of the Kilab Al-Rub establishes guards and law enforcement around the metropolitan area. Various libraries and universities are expanded to encourage literature and learning in the land. However, the Ulema's rulings on restricting art and literature, as well as technology is maintained. In their eyes, the culture of the Baroque era is the closest to the Quran and Islam possible, and so it should never be advnaced again. The Caliph himself expands his control over the Islamic religoius heirarchy, routinely replacing the Ayatollahs and Kazirs as far as South Africa, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Anatolia and Laurentia. Suhaib is given tours of the Caliphate in Cairo and Alexandria, showing him the finest museums and libraries. He is even granted an audience of the Ulema itself in the Cairo Citidel.
    • Jaffarid Sultanate: The military and economy are improved in its technology. Economically, the technology is upgraded for mining and exportation, in order to exploit the resources of the Middle East. The Jaffarids also take control over the global economic trade of the Caliphate, trading from western Europe through the Indian Ocean as far as China in Gulangyu. The military training and professinality is also upgraded to be on par with Eastern Europe. The Council of Letters in charge of MSA also add professionality as a word (in Arabic). Foreign policy is carefully taken byt he Jaffarids as well, however, as they still handle all correspondances in the name of the Caliph.
    • Ethiopian Empire: Emperor John builds up the city of Madinah Jamil, creating large fortresses to solidify control of the narrow passes on either side of the mountain valley. The lake itself is carefully surrounded by urbanization spralled from the city, using the lake for irrigation to help in any sieges. A military is built up under the Amharic volunteers, mostly migrants from the north. The monestary with the Ark of the Covenant is carefully kept seculded from this urbanization. Throughout the nation, the Emperor works to create new roads and canals. In order to accomplish this, he asks for cooporation from the local princes in the region.
  • Malaya: We continue expansion across Borneo, and aim to reach the eastern coast in a few years at most. As part of an initiative by the University of Malaya, the National Library is established in Kuala Lumpur, housing 500 books. This number is expected to increase over time, as literacy becomes a favorable skill in many industries. Potist insurgents have almost completely disappeared from Malaya, sparking concerns that they will attack the nearest major city they can reach. Security is high in state capitals and ports. With the aftershocks from the Dai Viet invasion of Champa over, the Royal Navy is sent to patrol the Gulf of Siam. (Secret) A proposal is sent to Cambodia, detailing an assault on Islander territory for the persecution of Potists and Islanders alike, but will be dealt with in a different manner. (Cambodian Response Needed) (End Secret)
  • Great Iberia: King Pedro continues centralizing the realm under the House of Braganza, consolidating the core territory of Portugal and promoting the Portuguese language and culture throughout the mainland and Mediterranean holdings. The Franco-Iberian colonial war progresses. The Iberian fleet prevents French reinforcements from reaching any ports in Central Africa without first breaking the blockade. 5000 troops are sent to reinforce the Siege of M'baza. Iberian forces occupy M'baza and most of the country south of Loango, wiping out or capturing the remaining Al-Afriqian army. The city is plundered for gold, and members of the royal family that were present in M'baza before the siege are taken hostage. With the fall of the Al-Afriqian capital and loss of their army, Iberia offers white peace on the condition that Al-Afriqia break their alliance with France. Meanwhile, in order to keep the French occupied, the Crown decides to open up new fronts in the war. Admiral Abraão Lobo sails to India with 13 ships and 2000 troops, capturing the port of Kakinada, while Admiral Guálter de Sá lays siege to Recife with a fleet of 52 ships and 12,000 troops. Iberia continues supporting Savoy, providing funding and sending military advisors to train their army. Privateers are commissioned to attack French ships in the Atlantic. In the colonies, Nova Asturias, Nova Andaluzia and Méxica continue to receive settlers, especially in OTL Chihuahua and Sonora. The Califórnias continue expansion down the coast. Indian Bay continues to receive settlers. Baixa Califórnia expands up the peninsula. Mêcicipi expands upriver. Montserrat and Santo Jacó (St. Kitts) receive more settlers. Much of OTL Western Sahara is claimed as the domain of Portugal, ruling from the fort at Arguin.
    • Benguela: Lobito is garrisoned by another 500 troops. The fort at Velha-Benguela is reinforced. The Siege of Luanda continues, now with the support of Ndongo allies in a joint effort to drive the French from the coast. Following the treaty with Al-Afriqia, the Iberian troops in the north are moved to Luanda. 30 ships are moved to reinforce the Siege of Namibe.
  • Al-Afriqia State: Sultan Aseel accepts the white peace that Iberia offered and ends their alliance with France. In addition to this, reconstruction projects to rebuild what was lost are underway. Although Sultan Aseel's approval ratings have diminished to ~10%, he promises that he has done good so far and that the ratings are false. The military begins to be rebuilt in hopes of bringing the state back to where it was prior to the conflict.
    • Maghreb Dip: We send materials to help improve there nation's reconstruction
  • Bengal Empire: We continue to work on restoring our our economy to its former self and start to make more ports in Orissa. The Spice Market continues to recover and our economy is almost back to where it once was. Budget cuts this year are at 12%. We continue to produce large amounts of Wheat and other grain based plants. Chocolate and Coffeee continue to be exported and imported in moderation. We still remain as enemies with Tibet but we still manage to make victories working along side with Nepalese troops. A shipment is sent to Nepal from Burdagan consisting of rations and weaponry. Our school system is developed further and further modernization of Orissa and Burdagan continue successfully. We are proud to now have a new vassal and quikly start to establish a new name and government for it. We change the name of the state to Western burdagan and establish an elective monarchy. Rubies are still excavated in Burma with moderation to maintain high prices for the product. Jade statues and Sculptures become more common across Burma and Bengal. We build more modern roads and sewers. More modernized French and Bengali style homes are built equipped with everything a person would need in a modern style equivalent to those found in the UK and France. More of these homes are built in Burdagan and Orissa as these homes have already been present in the other provinces. Flintlock weapons continue to be produced in large quantities for military combat with Cannons and Gunpowder put in reserves but continue being produed in large amounts. Islam cntinues to be spread across India and political support is given to surrounding states.

Our school system is based off of Bengali teachings and private schools for the most part keep cultural history in the mix.
  • Tsardom of Belka: The nation has now fully recovered from its civil war and the polish intervention. It specifically continues working on its support system and alliances with the Italian league, as well as the Russians. With the economy now beginning to do a bit better the Tsar begins thinking about potentially moving the capital entirely to Belgrad. Amazingly in its short tenure as a secondary capital it has exploded in population growing past its nearly 130,000 before the civil war to nearly 400,000 with people drawn from all over the empire towards the city. It now is only behind Vasiligrad in terms of influence and power as a city in the empire however its central location has made it a much more popular destination. Vasiligrad however does not decline and now with the Nicaean revolt quelled for the Ionian principality the Tsar notices that Vasiligrad now has both sides of the straights in peaceful, christian hands one with Belka and another with Ionia. This prosperity brings the city much economic growth as fortifications on that part of the coast can be ignored in favor of city expansion and remodeling. Croatia remains under integrational policies however with nearly 20 years under Belka the province has more or less been fully integrated with only language schooling for upper classes remaining a prime driver.
  • Kingdom of Great Britain and Scotland: The English Parliament proposes to the Scottish Parliament of a union of the two crowns of the British Isles (Mod Response needed) under these terms they would be given a greater representation in Parliament than accorded for population and they would still maintain largely regional devolved powers of local towns. This only benefits Scotland as they would gain trade from the various British colonies. Plus we bribe some Scottish people this time to encourage them to unify if they want. The training of the 35,000 British Army and 5,00 Scottish army continues in the Salisbury Plain and Edinburgh with drill of line formation and use of muskets. England has 6.3 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.7 million, Wales has 0.6 million Ireland has 1.6 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people. The construction of roads and canals continues. The Army of Islamic India maintains itself while construction of defences at Guddu and Modasa completed and the army is split between these two forts with 30,000 each while trade flourishes with states in India bringing in Asian wealth. Due to the threat to french Indian ports, Kakinda and Berunga are each sent 5,000 troops for the Army of Islamic India and paid overseas rates for their deployment. There is an expansion of libraries at the universities in a move to push forwards science. England's non- Arcadian colonies continue to receive a steady settlement. The army remains small with 3,000 men in Ireland, 2,000 men in Scotland and 1000 in Wales and England each with them training the militia force and an additional 9,000 troops are overseas with 4,000 in Arcadia, 1000 in Haiti as well as 250 in St George, St Helena, New Canterbury and Bay of Kost. 1000 sliders and 30 ships are in French Africa. 2,000 men are dispatched from English Arcadia to New Valois to help the French defend it. The fleet is divided with 150 ships stationed in Portsmouth and 120 ships stationed in Bristol. Privateer continues and trade with colonies in a triangular trade going through Africa.
    • British Arcadia: With Burgundy expanding into OTL New York clearly, we also begin heavy our own expansion to counter them. Going from OTL Oswego and Pulaski settlements colonists travel to Glasgow at OTL Sycrause where they establish a settlement and outlying farmlands off in a 30 px area and push eastwards creating another settlement called Doncaster at OTL Utica with the farms in between these twin settlements. In addition to this, in Essex, OTL Gerogia we push 50 px west in the south of the colony creating new plantations. Settlers move up a further 20 px along the western side of the Susquehanna river establishing farms staying out of Iroqios claimed lands even though they're not in the area. New settlers are taken in from Europe, Africa and Asia under the contract system.

The ports of Vindov and Libov (Windau and Libau) in Couronia are being promoted. Colonial endeavours around Olafsdale (Labrador settlements) and New Blekinge (Hudson Bay settlements) continue. We move inland in our colonies, in order to expand our land mass, also moving in the direction of the great river towards the inland (OTL St. Lawrence). The Arab prisoners have their right hand cut-off and sent into exile in Greenland, where they are sent out in the Greenlandic wilderness to survive without any help. The tensions spill over and Scandinavia declares WAR on Prussia due to ongoing disputes and invades the country via Holstein and Couronia. We call Poland, our ally, into the war. (PLAYER RESPONSE).

The Ulema establishes a new private treasury with the Bank of Cairo to fund the Caliph and his court in Cairo separate from the the seular government in Damascus. The Ulema continue to sponsor learning and culture in Lower Egypt, while limiitng art and literature to the Baroque era. The military made out of the Kilab Al-Rub consolidates around Cairo to be more of a personal guard to the Caliph and his court than a defensive military. Still, to feel fully protected in the realm of Egypt the Ulema invest in a militia to aid the Kilab Al-Rub if necessary. Religious aid is sent to the various missions in Africa, Asia, and Laurentia. Diplomats are sent to France to extend an official alliance as in the days of the Abbasid Caliphate.
    • Jaffarid Sultanate: Military and economy improves along with the tecnology of the nation, based on further industrial goods. The various minority people groups in the Middle East are kept separated and satisfied by the Millet system, mostlyin Arabia and north Syria. Oman is subjugated as a vassal directly by the the Jaffarids, while the other vassals remain nominally under the Caliphate's control.

  • Electorate of Saxony: After a year of gathering forces the rebel and loyalist armies marched and clashed at the battle village of Erika. The battle itself was fought on July 1st, for control of a bridge in the middle of the village Erika. Samuel von Genovese (leader of the rebels) sent about a quarter of his army to flank the bridge via a ford across the river about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) north of Erika. However the loyalist were lying in wait for the advancing enemies and sprung their trap while the flanking force was fording the river and they quickly began to lose men and fall back. However, rebel artillery let loose on the attackers and inflicted heavy casualties using howitzers loaded with grape shot which was unorthodox. But, worked very well with the ground being blanketed in dead loyalist and rebel soldiers. The first engagement of the war had been a costly one with 500 men dying for the rebels and 250 for the loyalist. Now as night began to fall both sides returned to camp. But, the rebels had something else in mind and once again attempted to ford the river. But, this time with Cavalry and Artillery support. This time it worked and 2,000 rebel soldiers were poised to strike the 10,000 strong loyalist army in the village in the flank to give their 18,000 comrades on the opposite side of the river a chance to breakthrough. But, little did the rebels know that the loyalist had ambushed set up all throughout the village. The next day both armies clashed on the bridge and the loyalist were pushed back when hit in the flank by the flanking forces and lost 2,000 of the 8,000 that pushed forward to hold the bridge thus they fell back into the town and the force attacking the bridge and flanking force which were down to 16,000 men pursued the fleeing enemies and fell right into the trap and were shredded by hidden musket men, cannons with grape shot from point blank range and Cavalry charges. As said by one rebel soldier: “16,000 went in and 12,000 came out. But, not before killing 4,000 more of the loyalist. This left both sides strength numbers at 6,000 for the loyalist and 12,000 for the rebels. Both armies began to march home thinking that they won a great victory and began singing a song about the town which was composed by a composer among the rebel army and soon became a favorite marching song of the men of both armies and thus it was adopted by both sides as their new war marches. Also, another notable thing was that the Battle of Erika saw the first use of fire by rank used by the loyalist which had been toying around with the concept for a while and finally perfected it. (The song: https://youtu.be/YBV4oVodJJI)
    • No they are not. The Concept has not taken prominence in europe and it wont take prominence when all of europe wants Grenadiers and not Skirmishers. -Feud
    • Feud... considering that Saxony is surrounded by nations with armies much bigger then them, they prefer to skirmish and ambush the enemy or use scorched earth tactics to slowly chip away at the enemy as they don't have the men to fight a typical line battle of the era. Thus skirmishes makers more sense for the Saxons as the skirmishes can pop out of the tree line let loose a few fire by rank volleys before falling back into the forest. While grenadiers are more for tightly packed lines of line infantry. -Brick
    • Skirmishers did non come into prominence until the 1750's where their contribution to warfare became significant. Battle of Line Skirmishers are not happening 60 years early, they are a planned advancement in the military apparatus for the algo. This is really a non negotiable thing here. Sorry -Feud

  • Cambodia: The Potist insurrection has gone underground and is currently trying to recover itself, thanks to multiple Khmer victories during Potist incursions into the lowlands. We have captures around 200 Potist troops, and they are forced to teach the Khmer army about the tactics of guerrilla warfare. Spies are also sent into the mountains to find the main camp of the Potist insurrection. Khmer troops guarding the coasts are getting ready for an assault on Koh Rong.
  • Cologne: Archbishop Wulfrich is extremely disappointed that the Council of Berlin appears to have been a complete disaster, and especially that some parties have appeared to lack the common decency to actually engage with their issues. Nevertheless, Archbishop Wulfrich reacts to the news of Scandinavia’s invasion of Prussia with great sadness and distress. Noting that this may quickly become an existential crisis for many HRE states in the Prussian region, he calls an Imperial Synod and takes it upon himself as Archbishop-Patriarch of the HRE (the highest spiritual power in the Empire, and the only one who can conceivably band together all the states, as he did last time the Scandinavians and Polish forces attacked in 1667, using a temporary war power) to order all the (small, non-player) HRE states to defend the Empire from Scandinavian threat (Mod response as to numbers of men, please). (OOC: Given that Saxony is in a civil war, Archbishop Wulfrich doesn't call on Saxony) Archbishop Wulfrich also formally requests the help of Burgundy, Prussia and Austria (Burgundy response, Mod response for Prussia/Brandenburg and Austria please). Finally, he makes many speeches about German unity and calls upon all religious leaders in German lands to do the same. Meanwhile at home, the scholarships going to young people in Northern German lands have continued to educate them on the pointlessness of so-called “Protestantism”, with a robust knowledge of the Northern Rite. To solidify this progress, Archbishop Wulfrich makes plans to build a small university specifically in Northern German lands with the consent of the relevant HRE states, as soon as Cologne’s funds are not tied up in a war.
    • Essen: Abbess Anniken finishes the series of papers on women’s choices within the Church, to a generally positive reception, and distributes these papers through wider Cologne and the HRE with the help of the Stelzner Printing Press. Adelphinian Canonesses worldwide (in the New World, Tondo, Brazil, and Essen) take up these papers with excitement. In Tondo, canonesses continue to follow the government into their new areas, and plan to maybe make a venture into Borneo in the future. In Hospitaller Arcadia and New Essen, German canonesses continue working with Seminole canonesses to understand how they might connect with the native people of Burgundian Arcadia through an education program.

  • Papal States: The Pope is grateful for the support of the Genoese mercenary force, and His Holiness manages to persuade the force's commander to assist with the modernisation of the Papal military. New weapons, equipment, organisation, recruitment, and tactics are planned for and slowly introduced, as well as slick modern uniforms. In other news, Pope Zosimus calls on all Christendom to repel the advances of the rapacious, heretical Scandinavians. The Pope orders the small Adelphinian College in Rome to produce a Latin language edition of the German Paper for the benefit of the international clergy in the city. Having read an unofficial translation of some of the most recent editions, the Pope writes an official letter to the Prefect for the Inquisition stating that the essays on women are precisely in keeping with the teachings of his predecessor's encyclical on women, Mulieris honorem. The missions in Korea-China, Japan, the New World, Lan Xang, and Southern Africa continue. The seminary in Southern Africa ordains its first deacons.
    • Essen: Abbess-General Anniken of the Adelphinian Order is excited to hear that His Holiness has approved of her essays on women. She has a leather-bound edition done up and sent to Rome for Pope Zosimus to add to his library if he so chooses. Meanwhile, she is honoured on behalf of the Archbishop-Patriarch of the HRE to help instruct the Adelphinian Order in Rome produce a Latin edition of the German Paper, and sends her thanks.
  • Great Iberia: King Pedro continues centralizing the realm under the House of Braganza, consolidating the core territory of Portugal and promoting the Portuguese language and culture throughout the mainland and Mediterranean holdings. The Franco-Iberian colonial war progresses. The Iberian fleet prevents French or English reinforcements from reaching any ports in Central Africa without first breaking the blockade. 12,000 more troops are sent to reinforce the Siege of Recife. Meanwhile, in order to keep the French occupied, the Crown decides to open up new fronts in the war. The shieldmen also wield melee weapons, which they will use to fend off any attacker. Horses are being bred for a cavalry.

  • Tsardom of Belka: The Plague in Vasiligrad is frightening for many and Tsar Petar himself evacuates the city and quarantines the affected quarters of the city and prevents entry or exit from the area. Lots of the nobility that were forced to live in the city due to the rules of the absolute monarchy are given grants to leave and most flee to the secondary capital in Belgrad. Near the palace hundreds of nobles take up residence reinvesting into building their new homes there outside the palace in Belgrad. The City continues to grow as a result of this and soon the open and modern structure of the city has essentially given it the potential to grow into the cosmopolitan heart of the empire. The economy despite the plague in the empire largest trade hub remains strong and powerful, and with direct control of every major trade route in the Eastern Med as well as the majority of the Patrols in the area the Belkan trade becomes paramount, the law of the seas. The Ionians, and the Italians are allowed on these routes free of charge, and in many cases ships affialiated with other nations are forced to stop in Belkan ports due to the understandably large markets in Belka as well as their preferential goods and prime good that come out of the East. The trade with the Caliphate noticeably increases following a decree of Tsar Petars religious tolerance in the Edict of Zadar which respects religious minority rights and promises non intervention in their practices hoping to avoid the very obvious religious conflict which is striking Northern Germany right now. The Tsar also adheres to a strict non interference policy unless it threatens the balance of Eastern power. With the internal turmoil in Rum the Tsar officially pulls his troops out of Ionia except for a clear support garrison in now renamed Nicomedia as a force to keep on both sides of the Bosporus open and secure. With so much having been lost to war in the last century the Tsar begins considering takign a different approach on expansionism, bringing to the forefront the need for propping up and stabilizing Ionia, and their Italian league allies and keeping the frontiers secure. This policy has proven to be effective by establishing buffers on multiple fronts as well as stable allies. The Italian for example starting to become extremely powerful and reliable allies that the Belkans can rely on.

The Army of Islamic India maintains itself at Guddu and Modasa and the army is split between these two forts with 30,000 each while trade flourishes with states in India bringing in Asian wealth. Due to the threat to french Indian ports, Kakinda and Berunga continue to have 5,000 troops for the Army of Islamic India and paid overseas rates for their deployment. There is an expansion of libraries at the universities in a move to push forwards science. Many citizens, both Arab's and Kuzir's, call for reforms, however, Sultan Aseel continues his reign of power by wielding it with an iron fist. Sultan Aseel begins mass mobilization of troops in an attempt to take revenge on Iberia, with many political and diplomatic advisers being against it. Secret: In the latter period of 1697, Sultan Aseel orders the Islamic missionaries sneaked into Ndongo to start a revolution. With the revolution under way, 500 poorly trained soldiers equipped with minimal rifles are placed at the border to prevent the government from attempting exile in Zayiyr, with specific orders that if the King of Ndongo attempts to enter Zayiyr or surrounding state, he is to be killed on site.

  • Cambodia: Ships are currently being constructed to transport the Khmer troops on the coast to Koh Rong for an assault. We have also found Pol Pot's main camp, it is on top of a densely forested mountain, and it is quite hard to get to. However, with recent training with guerrilla warfare, and sheer size, 25,000 troops storm their camp, and we win a decisive battle in the camp. There were heavy losses on both sides, and the Potist insurrection has been crushed in Cambodia. However, Pol Pot himself, along with around 100 other troops and Potist generals, have escaped, and a countrywide manhunt has commenced. The siege of Luanda is broken and the army retreats to Benguela, but the blockade continues. The siege of Namibe is reinforced by 7,000 troops and 5 ships. Namibe is captured after a nearly four-year siege, but the fort is almost completely destroyed in the fighting. Afterwards, Iberian forces move to expel the French from their hastily-built settlement at Sumbe, starving them out and making sure no supplies can reach them by land or sea. Admiral Guálter de Sá retreats from Recife, leaving the city damaged. He sails up the coast, attacking French settlements and landing again near São Atto, occupying the area east of the Iberian fort. • Tsardom of Belka: The Tsar finally manages to get the all clear that the city of Vasiligrad is now plague free however the damage has been done and many prominent nobles have migrated their primary home residence into Belgrad. The city due to the Tsars decree and the attractivness of the city itself has led to the population to nearly double in the last decade going from 160,000 to over 320,000. Many of these coming as immigrants from Vasiligrad and from overcrowding in the massive cities of Sofiya and Tarnovoa both of which boast nearly 500,000 people a peace and Vasiligrad receding back to 700,000. The population of the entire country climbs to 14.2 million. The remaining Aristrocracy that exists begins to shrink its unprofitable land holdings making solid profits on selling to the merchant estates to develop as food production or in some cases livestock. The Military sees a more common influx of second sons hoping to make a name for themselves however due to Field Marshall Kamarovs more recent reforms, the system remains merit based and army titles remain unable to be bought up by the nobility forcing the second sons of the nobility to actually be competent as a soldier rather than being granted commissions based on noble titles. While there is some bickering the Tsar quickly silences these issues with a retort to the Duma. "If the freemen makes a better soldier than one of your entitled sons than so be it, but i will not allow the army that brought our predecessors and our current country fester and fall corrupt because you wish to keep your children safe. I have personally led our troops on multiple occassions, The army is a dangerous place, not one where your Noble desire for prestige is to be filled".

His first order of business is to reconstruct the royal palace of Lisbon to reflect the wealth and majesty of the Empire. The old "palace", merely an extension of an old Moorish castle from the Middle Ages, is redesigned to be the primary fortress of Lisbon, while a new palace called the Paço da Ribeira (Riverside Palace) begins construction on the banks of the Tagus river. João II also works to bring the kingdoms of Portugal, Castile, and Aragon closer in union, intending to unite them into one kingdom at some point. Publicly, Amazonia is claimed to have been acting on behalf of the Iberian Crown, but secretly half of Guálter de Sá's forces are sent to oust the rogue general and reinstate the Crown's rule in Maranhão. However, impressed with his exploits in India, King João II offers him a pardon and the position of governor in Maranhão if he pledges allegiance to the Emperor and instead uses his tactical prowess against the French enemy. The damage is already done, however, and the new viceroy is unable to raise an effective force to stop the Maian advance. He retreats to the north, placing much of Yucatán and Méxica under Maian control, including the city of Mayapan. The Dalian imperial court is abolished, and Beijing (changed from the former name, Bukgyeong) is once again, declared the sole capital and the epicentre of royal rule. With fears of mounting Korean separatism and skepticism, a separate devolved government is established in Hanseong, with the Korean Basic Law being implemented to protect the interests of Korean nobility and to prevent any incursions east of the Liaodong Wall.
