- May 5, 2011 After an investigation, Senator John Ensign of Nevada resigned. His post was filled by Dean Heller.
- December 17, 2012 Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawaii died at the age of 88. His post was filled by Brian Schatz.
- January 1, 2013 Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina resigned to serve as head of the Heritage Foundation. His post was filled by Congressman Tim Scott.
