The Union of Scandinavian Provinces, also known as New Norseland, is a large, rich country that is mostly solitary, relying only on itself. The country consists of Denmark, Sweden, Norway, now Old Norseland, and Finland, and relies on 88% hydraulic power and 12% nuclear. The Union of Scandinavian Provinces is the biggest in the industry for nuclear physics and science, making things like the Fusion Battery. They are considered a socialist-democracy, as they have democratic beliefs like freedom of religion, speech, press, and vote, they use the community to make values on goods and how long the people should work. Even though they have a royal family, the family cannot make decisions. Like everyone else, they have to make the idea and let the community decide, although the king is the CAC of the army. The Prime Minister as of 2016 is Jorgen Ulfric. The royal family of the USP is the Kol family, and the king as of 2016 is Noble Guppa Kol.
History[]
In the 800s, the raiders of England, France, and Germany as well as the best traders came about. They were known as the Vikings, and they hailed form Scandinavia. The country stated out of the spotlight really until World War II.During World War II, the countries Finland, Denmark, and Norway were in the Nazi Empire, Sweden being independant, and that helped them try to take control of Russia through their easy access. After World War II, Nazi Germany disbanded, leaving the countries alone once again. In 1945, the United Nations was created to try, as stated in title, unite the nations. Most of the world's countries joined, including the Scandinavian areas. While the countries depended on each other, the Prime Minister of Norway, Johan Nygaardsvold, was on his retirement. and Einar Gerhardsten became the next one. He was assassinated in 1947, and was replaced by his runner up, Magnus Rafnkelsson. Magnus proposed an idea to the neighboring Scandinavian countries, that being the Union of Scandinavian Provinces and the royal family of the USP. The countries agreed, to his and Norway's surprisement, yet Finland was hesitant at first, but later agreed. So they all overthrew the old royal family, placed the Kol family into royal position, and united January 17th, 1949. This was made "Founding Day" by Revan Guppa Kol, the new king. On that same day, they made the flag shown above to represent Unity in the Land of the Norse, and takes after the American flag.
The USP stated out of the international spotlight for the Cold War until the last period in 1963 when Russia sent spies into Sweden to see if they were helping the British and to find and sabotage their nuclear weaponry. The USP, Union for simplicity, never made any nuclear weapons, and Russia wasted an ally. The Union declared war, and a small 6 month war was drawn out, known as the Siberian-Scandinavain war. During the war, the fairly new army of the Union went on a march through Siberia, sparing the citizens, mainly mothers and children, while killing every soldier. Fairly little enemy troops were captured, mainly because most Russian troops wouldn't surrender. The Union Generals of the army were Ty Ericsson, Loki Bergensson, and Björn George, a former American Brigadier, and they pummeled the Russians in almost every battle. The war was ceased when Russia called for a surrender, and the Union agreed. On May 2nd, 1963, the Russians surrendered and gave 35% of their nuclear weapons to the Union, while the Union gave back the captive troops. After this, they dismantled 40% of the weapons, they studied the chemistry of the nuclear devices, and a whole new wave of technological advancements came. For example, the Fusion Battery, that could power twice as much for twice as long, was based of a very small nuclear reactor inside, or the Radon Radio Transmitter, that broadened the range of the radio's pick up, meaning a man in Finland could listen to a British Football game, was based on a nuclear physics. (the Radon Radio was a military only device) They also could convert nuclear energy into usable energy, meaning their profit's skyrocketed. While these advancements were being made, millions of people flocked in temporarily or permanently for the devices and science that took place in the Union, and over 18 million people boosted to 46 million in the span of 3 years. While this new wave was taking place, the king of the Union, Revan Guppa Kol, died, and was replaced by his son, Revan Guppa Kol II. From 1987-2001, the Union has stayed away from the international spotlight until the tragedy which was 9/11. They enlisted in the fight against terrorism and sent many troops south to Mosul in Iraq and further down. Their time in the fight ended on November 3rd, 2005, and all troops were recalled. As of 2012, there has been little news from the Union other than celebrity gossip and such. One of these is called the Norse Broadcasting Station, and it talks about the world, life, science, and gossip in it's news line up. It also broadcasts music, radio shows, and podcasts from everywhere. Its only competitor is the British Broadcasting Cooperation.
Military, Politics, and Economics[]
The Military of the Union of Scandinavian Provinces is consisted of the Norse Navy, the sea operators, the Norse Army and Marines, the land and sea operators, and the Norse Air Force, the air operators. They have 1,345,300 soldiers on duty in their army and 334,500 in reserve as of 2016. The General of the Navy is Ty Ericsson, of the army and marines, Revan Guppa Kol II, and of the air force, Fredrik Bloch. The country is not the most peaceful, and any enemy naval vessels, aircraft, and land vehicles are annexed and shot down. Civilian aircraft are protected, no matter what country they're from, although the middle eastern civilian aircraft are inspected due to terrorism having the highest origin rate in the middle east. The Union is allied with the United States of America, Canada, Britain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and India, therefore, the Norseland Army cannot go to those places in military terms. The nations also frequently trade with each other, but with all of the technological advancements and fuel that comes from the Union, they usually win out above the others. As such, their currency is worth over 3 times as much as a US dollar, 3.29002 times as much to be exact, beating the Kuwait dollar by over a hundredth.
Religions[]
Christian beliefs have been in Scandinavia for the longest of times, but it is now starting to dwindle. More and more people aren't believing in the Christian god and instead are taking zen, Buddhist beliefs as their spirituality, or refusing to have any. Although, there is now a severance of the main Catholicism and the Union's Catholicism. The religion most accept here is Norse Catholicism, with their own beliefs, Pope, etc. after Pope Francis took charge in 2013 and the Modern Schism occurred.
